Honestly, cannot thank you enough. I took about a month to try and get the BLTouch to work, and I was about to give up, until I followed the step by step advice you provided, and it worked straight away. Also, nice touch on re-crimping the end that connects to the motherboard, it worked a treat!

Thank you! I was finally able to get my BLTouch working correctly. You showed me what I was missing when changing settings in the firmware. I have watched so many videos and compiled the firmware so many times... I was on the verge of buying the CR6-SE so I didn't have to mess with the bed leveling hassle. The instructions on Marlin in this video should be referenced in the prior video for the Ender 5 Pro. The new BLTouch connector especially makes a huge difference. A simple pinned comment or a line in the description explaining to see this video if you have the new connector should suffice. I have been going nuts thinking I did something wrong following your old instructions, even tried editing config files multiple times and on multiple marlin versions. And the problem was the line about the “Z min probe uses z min endstop pin” that is addressed here.
For those who are struggling to find out what type of drivers your Creality motherboard is using you can refer to the below Information provided by TH3D on their website: support.th3dstudio.com/helpcenter/creality-v4-2-x-board-driver-codes/ The letters written on the card reader slot (with marker) are different depending on which stepper driver it has. These are for the ones 4.2.X board with STM32F103RET6 controller: C = HR4988 E = A4988 A = TMC2208 B = TMC2209 H = TMC2225

You're presentations are always crystal clear (both in organization and in the fundamentals of presenting [clearly spoken, paced well, etc]); your logic is sound; even your statistical analysis is completely accurate (I'm thinking of the touch sensor comparisons), including (in your CR-Touch section) the fact that you have a sample size of 1 device. Your brother's editing is superb. I was just looking at how to pull the data from my CR-Touch that I brought up last night, and I just figured that out. I'll do my own analysis to compare. One question: in Marlin 2.1 I don't see the BED_LEVEL_CORNERS at all. Has this been renamed or removed? I didn't see anything similar. As it is, I use movement to go to the appropriate spots, but it would be nice to have that movement automated.

Excellent video little Miss. Thank you for making this. You rescued me from hours of googling last night trying to figure out how to get firmware to use both a run-out sensor and 3D Touch with a new Ender 3 that has the 4.2.2 board. Only Ender 3 V2 had the firmware for both but i didnt want to chance bricking my ender using the firmware for V2. If you try building this today in the platformio extension.. it might complain about FAN_SOFT_PWM not being enabled.. I enabled it and then I was able to compile the files. Also "Level Corners" now appears as "Bed Tramming" The filament sensor mount you linked isnt the same one youre using in the video with the wheel. Can you upgrade the link please? I have the same sensor as you and cant find a wheel/sensor mount model that uses the same exact sensor. So I ran into first layer adhesion issures now that I installed the 3DTouch.. and having a heck of a time leveling the bed. Two questions: Should the beds knobs be completely tight before doing the auto home and bed leveling, or should the be loose to the point where the knobs are about to fall off? None of these bed leveling videos ever mention how tight/loose the knobs should be before attempting to level it . Isnt there a default state? Like completely tight and then loosen one whole rotation? Second question.. Do you use the bltouch auto bed leveling before every print? I ran it after leveling the bed and doing the z-offset value. but still had issues printing.. The nozzle was even hitting the bed. Just cant figure out the right offset value. the value I got was lower than yours.. like -2.20 so I think my bed was too high.. level but too high. Seems my bed is either too low or too high when i do the z-offset manual tuning by lowering it to the bed. Ive been trying to fix this all day today.. Then my 3dtouch started malfunctioning and wouldnt retract its needle when i told it to.
Yet another great video. I will have to give the Marlin compile a try. Besides enable all the new features you show in the video, I also want to change what the printer does, when I cancel a print. Right now, it just stops where it is, with the nozzle on the print. I want the nozzle to move away from the print when I cancel. So I will have to do some research on Marlin, to see if it's possible to define that behavior as default.

@@dreudax3294 Also, check out the wiring and make sure you have the probe wires for the Z stop in the correct location on the main board. You also need to adjust firmware so it knows to use the probe and not the Z stop switch.
@@MaCJaX88 I did all that, and it still wouldnt work. I think either the magnetic sensor is broken, or there is a lose connection from magnetic sensor to the board. Either way, I spent way too much time on it and I have tried every fix other than opening it up and resodering the magnetic sensor. Anyways, I now do manual probe bed mesh. It has helped my prints a lot. I use 25 points so it is very accurate. and now my filament sticks very well. My glass bed had some dips, and this maula meshing have solved it. Thanks anyways for you insights and replies.
Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for this, I reached out to Creality for a more accurate firmware and I was told that I can only use one or the other, NOT both... Well we just proved them wrong... I'm currently running the CR touch as well as the factory filament detection sensor from the CR-10... everything works together with no issues and I'm loving the extra features
Aurora, when I open and make the adjustments to the configuration.h & configuration_adv.h, I do not see anything above PIO Home? I see that you have access to "Project Tasks" and "Quick Access" Menu's. Is there a setting I'm missing? Thank you for your help and your videos. You explain it well enough, that this 50 year old man is able to learn about Marlin, upgrades and everything else!!! ;)
Wonderful video. The only thing you missed was "z offset probe wizard" otherwise someone, You, put everything needed for the ender 3, in one video. GREAT JOB !!
Realy a very good and easy tutorial on FW upgrade. I did foir version 2.1.2 and it worked perfect! Im using the 'default' LCD display because I didn't discover how to upgrade these FW using the "3D pad mini" (TJC4827x343_011), ender's display.
Good video. Informative and helpful. It is worth noting some Ender 3 Pro printers came with a "GD" chip and the build was not supported for this chip but the build for the one you used in the video works just fine for mine.

Would you be willing to compile any version of FW for my Creality 3 V2 that could inlude both the Creality filament runout sensor and the Creality BLT in the menu, as well as any of other applicable settings from this video? The board is 4.2.2 and the processor is a GD32F303RET6 (ARM). I can't seem to find a match for that processor in the PIO plugin of VSC and my builds keep failing. I'm willing to pay a for your time. Thank you, I'm currently looking seed klipper that works for me. I installed a direct drive at the end a 3D touch and I couldn't get my printer recognize my SD card. So I found a fix from a RUclipsr who has written Marlin code or something like that. What's up but it in my screen lit up but nothing ever happened. So now I'm in the process of redoing all this again and recording it myself listening to another RUclipsr and I've gotten to the point where I'm down to the processor, the GD32F303 RET6. Everybody else's chips or what they were talking about was STM so I found a different parade on Reddit but sent me back to my original RUclips guy who creates more than code try to go back to his video and go through his steps again. Hopefully I have better luck otherwise I'm going to have to take the 3D touch off my printer and just flash a normal update
Hello Aurora, first off, thank you! I have been at it for a day and a half trying to get the BLTouch setup and your vidoe did that trick. I am having one issue I was hoping you might be able to help me with. When I get to the part to level the bed manually the extruder is so far away from every corner that every knob is completely down and it still is not touching. I tried to jump ahead to set the z offset hoping that might bring it down but once I go back to try the manual bed leveling the extruder is still too far away from the bed. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I even tried a sample print to see what it would do and I had to baby step it down a good amount before the filament would stick to the bed and the Z offset is set and stored but not going to the point I set it at.
I followed your Instructions line by line to the T and unfortunately now I have a DEAD printer after flashing the firmware. Let me check how I can recover it without replacing the motherboard. Wish me luck!
Thanks for the video. You mention that a warning at line 743 of configuration.h must have the comment marks removed or the build will fail. The copy of configuration.h that I just downloaded does not contain this warning line and yet it will not build. Any ideas on where the problem may be???
It is my exact Board number and it's saying is incompatible with board creality 427 then it says use one of these and one of the one that tells me to use is the one that I keep trying to use

I did a lot of upgrades on the Ender-3 Pro after this video, it's no longer using the stock motherboard, extruder, and screen. What is the first error message in red? Just fix the first one(only) and try again.
I have been trying this for 2 days and every time I hit build on the chip number it says failed. Then it gives me a list of ones that will work and all say failed
Error: Build environment 'STM32F103RET6_creality' is incompatible with BOARD_CREALITY_V427. Use one of these: STM32F103RE_creality, STM32F103RE_creality_xfer, STM32F103RC_creality, STM32F103RC_creality_xfer, STM32F103RE_creality_maple Found that STM32F103RE_creality (reditt) is the correct one. Ill try later if it works. (obs: marlin 2.1.1)

I have followed all the instruction but I have 2 issues, When I open up Platform IO i don't get the drop down menu to select which chip I am using, the second is I seem to have to errors at the bottom of my screen which read: "message": "#include errors detected. Please update your includePath. Squiggles are disabled for this translation unit. Could this error be a problem when I load it into my printer?
I had the same problems but think I figured it out. 1) you need to first create a project if this is your first time using platformIO, for this it will ask you for a board. STM32f103RET6 will not be listed, but I believe STM32f103RE will work as well. 2) i forgot exactly what I did for this, but I believe I literally just clicked the disable squiggles button. but even if thats not it exactly, it doesnt hurt to play around with it to try and figure it out. you always have an undo button :)
PLEASE help... after following your instructions to a T, I can NOT get the platform io to compile firmware. No matter what i've tried, it fails; Currently unable to print now that ive upgraded to 4.2.7, direct drive, and bltouch
I'm really confused. I printed the same extended 3d touch mount for my ender 3 pro and mounted it. But the probe while retracted hangs lower than the nozzle. So it smashes into the bed when trying to print. Am I missing something?
Thank you for very good explanations, I have a problem with the z offset. My z offset value is -0.7mm, but when i make an auto home, the value turns into positive value and adds in z axis value. also, do you know how can i change my z axis value it stuck in 10, then plus positive (i dont know why it makes a negative value to the positive) 0.7, it will be 10.7 .also when i put the positive value for e.g +0.7 nothing happens. In the screen, nothing adds or subtracts. I have to use a print then put the value -0.7mm in the babysteps, and then everything works fine. Thank you for your guidance
This helped me get my new printer started so thank you for that. I did encounter something unexpected, though. I have an Ender 3 Pro with a 4.2.7 mainboard. The compiler balked with an error "FAN_SOFT_PWM is required. Enable it to continue." I did that and got a successful compile but I'm not sure if that feature affects anything else.
You need to rearrange the cable, if your sensor has a 2-pin connector, just flip the cable of one side. If it's a 3-pin, arrange the order according to your motherboard, like VCC-SINGAL-GND or GND-SINGAL-VCC.
Hi Aurora I have a question I have a Ender 3D pro I have ran into an issue where tried to print out Gcode file but it failed so I got a new print file when running this new file on the printer to print the existing old file is still trying to print when i have removed the old file from the SD card seems to be stuck trying to print the old file and not the new file i am asking to print any assistance would be greatly appreciated. thank you

I chose the wrong board to compile and now I cannot seem to find the board selection again when I click the alien head after I save the 2 files ..can you help clarify how to get back to the board selection menu after clicking alien head... only IO menu home pops up ..

So I have the same red black white cables for filament sensor as 5:44, but it works reversely on Jyers firmware. Can I fix it by switching wires? or need to configure and compile my own BIN file?

That gave me pause as well! Check "TRAMMING" instead of "CORNERS".

FYI - In the newer version of Marlin, it's called "LCD_BED_TRAMMING" now and not "LEVEL_BED_CORNERS".

The printer however desnt stop z himing even after the probe is triggered and retracts, any idea why this is?
@@dreudax3294 You need to ensure you have it setup in the firmware to use the probe and not the Z switch.
@@dreudax3294 Also, check out the wiring and make sure you have the probe wires for the Z stop in the correct location on the main board. You also need to adjust firmware so it knows to use the probe and not the Z stop switch.
@@MaCJaX88 I did all that, and it still wouldnt work. I think either the magnetic sensor is broken, or there is a lose connection from magnetic sensor to the board. Either way, I spent way too much time on it and I have tried every fix other than opening it up and resodering the magnetic sensor.
Anyways, I now do manual probe bed mesh. It has helped my prints a lot. I use 25 points so it is very accurate. and now my filament sticks very well. My glass bed had some dips, and this maula meshing have solved it.

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for this, I reached out to Creality for a more accurate firmware and I was told that I can only use one or the other, NOT both... Well we just proved them wrong... I'm currently running the CR touch as well as the factory filament detection sensor from the CR-10... everything works together with no issues and I'm loving the extra features
These manufacturers are so lazy. A professional company could accomplish this step so easily. Creality just re-skins vanilla Marlin and call it a day.
Aurora, when I open and make the adjustments to the configuration.h & configuration_adv.h, I do not see anything above PIO Home? I see that you have access to "Project Tasks" and "Quick Access" Menu's. Is there a setting I'm missing? Thank you for your help and your videos. You explain it well enough, that this 50 year old man is able to learn about Marlin, upgrades and everything else!!! ;)

Realy a very good and easy tutorial on FW upgrade. I did foir version 2.1.2 and it worked perfect! Im using the 'default' LCD display because I didn't discover how to upgrade these FW using the "3D pad mini" (TJC4827x343_011), ender's display.
Good video. Informative and helpful. It is worth noting some Ender 3 Pro printers came with a "GD" chip and the build was not supported for this chip but the build for the one you used in the video works just fine for mine.

When i autohome the 3dtouch dosent stop it from moving, it continues down towards the bed unless i turn it off and collides with the bed.

Would you be willing to compile any version of FW for my Creality 3 V2 that could inlude both the Creality filament runout sensor and the Creality BLT in the menu, as well as any of other applicable settings from this video? The board is 4.2.2 and the processor is a GD32F303RET6 (ARM). I can't seem to find a match for that processor in the PIO plugin of VSC and my builds keep failing. I'm willing to pay a for your time. Thank you, I'm currently looking seed klipper that works for me. I installed a direct drive at the end a 3D touch and I couldn't get my printer recognize my SD card. So I found a fix from a RUclipsr who has written Marlin code or something like that. What's up but it in my screen lit up but nothing ever happened. So now I'm in the process of redoing all this again and recording it myself listening to another RUclipsr and I've gotten to the point where I'm down to the processor, the GD32F303 RET6. Everybody else's chips or what they were talking about was STM so I found a different parade on Reddit but sent me back to my original RUclips guy who creates more than code try to go back to his video and go through his steps again. Hopefully I have better luck otherwise I'm going to have to take the 3D touch off my printer and just flash a normal update

Hello Aurora, first off, thank you! I have been at it for a day and a half trying to get the BLTouch setup and your vidoe did that trick. I am having one issue I was hoping you might be able to help me with. When I get to the part to level the bed manually the extruder is so far away from every corner that every knob is completely down and it still is not touching. I tried to jump ahead to set the z offset hoping that might bring it down but once I go back to try the manual bed leveling the extruder is still too far away from the bed. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I even tried a sample print to see what it would do and I had to baby step it down a good amount before the filament would stick to the bed and the Z offset is set and stored but not going to the point I set it at.
I followed your Instructions line by line to the T and unfortunately now I have a DEAD printer after flashing the firmware. Let me check how I can recover it without replacing the motherboard. Wish me luck!
Thanks for the video. You mention that a warning at line 743 of configuration.h must have the comment marks removed or the build will fail. The copy of configuration.h that I just downloaded does not contain this warning line and yet it will not build. Any ideas on where the problem may be???
Don't worry, since the latest version of Marlin may be slightly different, if you print OK, you should be fine.
It is my exact Board number and it's saying is incompatible with board creality 427 then it says use one of these and one of the one that tells me to use is the one that I keep trying to use

I did a lot of upgrades on the Ender-3 Pro after this video, it's no longer using the stock motherboard, extruder, and screen. What is the first error message in red? Just fix the first one(only) and try again.
I have been trying this for 2 days and every time I hit build on the chip number it says failed. Then it gives me a list of ones that will work and all say failed

I have followed all the instruction but I have 2 issues, When I open up Platform IO i don't get the drop down menu to select which chip I am using, the second is I seem to have to errors at the bottom of my screen which read: "message": "#include errors detected. Please update your includePath. Squiggles are disabled for this translation unit. Could this error be a problem when I load it into my printer?
I had the same problems but think I figured it out. 1) you need to first create a project if this is your first time using platformIO, for this it will ask you for a board. STM32f103RET6 will not be listed, but I believe STM32f103RE will work as well. 2) i forgot exactly what I did for this, but I believe I literally just clicked the disable squiggles button. but even if thats not it exactly, it doesnt hurt to play around with it to try and figure it out. you always have an undo button :)

I'm really confused. I printed the same extended 3d touch mount for my ender 3 pro and mounted it. But the probe while retracted hangs lower than the nozzle. So it smashes into the bed when trying to print. Am I missing something?
Thank you for very good explanations, I have a problem with the z offset. My z offset value is -0.7mm, but when i make an auto home, the value turns into positive value and adds in z axis value. also, do you know how can i change my z axis value it stuck in 10, then plus positive (i dont know why it makes a negative value to the positive) 0.7, it will be 10.7 .also when i put the positive value for e.g +0.7 nothing happens. In the screen, nothing adds or subtracts.
I have to use a print then put the value -0.7mm in the babysteps, and then everything works fine.

This helped me get my new printer started so thank you for that. I did encounter something unexpected, though. I have an Ender 3 Pro with a 4.2.7 mainboard. The compiler balked with an error "FAN_SOFT_PWM is required. Enable it to continue." I did that and got a successful compile but I'm not sure if that feature affects anything else.

You need to rearrange the cable, if your sensor has a 2-pin connector, just flip the cable of one side. If it's a 3-pin, arrange the order according to your motherboard, like VCC-SINGAL-GND or GND-SINGAL-VCC.

Hi Aurora I have a question I have a Ender 3D pro I have ran into an issue where tried to print out Gcode file but it failed so I got a new print file when running this new file on the printer to print the existing old file is still trying to print when i have removed the old file from the SD card seems to be stuck trying to print the old file and not the new file i am asking to print any assistance would be greatly appreciated. thank you
Hello... I followed every step until I got to platformio..platforming... I chose the wrong board to compile and now I cannot seem to find the board selection again when I click the alien head after I save the 2 files ..can you help clarify how to get back to the board selection menu after clicking alien head... only IO menu home pops up ..

Yes, you don't need to enable the filament sensor in Marlin if you don't have one, you can also disable it from the screen even you've enabled it.

So I have the same red black white cables for filament sensor as 5:44, but it works reversely on Jyers firmware. Can I fix it by switching wires? or need to configure and compile my own BIN file?
