I love you! I watched probably 10 or so "tutorial" videos before stumbling on this one. None of them helped me at all and only made me more frustrated. Your video was super clear and easy to understand for beginners like myself! Thank you so much!

Thanks for the simple concise explanation. Too many publish videos in which they either assume that you have an engineering degree or speak far too quickly. Something that you should add is in the example configurations you must choose the correct version of marlin or you will not be able to access the config files that you wish to copy to Marlin. I spent hours scouring videos and articles before I found this information. Thanks again, I have always enjoyed your videos.

Tried to find a written tutorial or documentation on how to do this and it was all just so tedious and weird and confusing.
Happened to find this video and it's concise and clear and I got my firmware edited and compiled in about the time I watched the video.
Fantastic video, resources like this should be better publicized but here we are I guess :/

Just an addition, if you get an error when compiling, scroll to the top of the list after expanding the window and find the first error that comes up, deal with that and recompile, repeat until you get a successful compile. Fixing the very first error will often fix other errors as well, sometimes fixing one error will fix them all as the first error may have caused a cascading effect, ie. one error leads to another error which leads to another error etc etc.

Hi Bobby. Try to keep the name firmware.bin and chek if, after the pwoer cycle, the file changed from .bin to .cur.
This is an indication that the board installed the new firmware and (if the screen does not show any info) you might have something wrong in your firmware setup.

Hello, tell me please, if you know, there is a need to raise the upper temperature limit for my 3d printer, how to do it correctly in marlin?

Hi, search for the line "define HEATER_0_MAXTEMP" (for the nozzle) and edit the value for the temperature. Please be carefull when editing this value.

    • @ruiraptor
      @ruiraptor  Год назад

@@felurianmasters4369 , load the .bin file to the memory card (make sure the memory card is formatted to FAT32 and it's empty), insert the memory card into the printer and then turn the printer on. When turning on, the printer will load the firmware and flash it. Once the update is complete, the .BIN file will be renamed to .CUR and this will be your confirmation that the firmware upload was done.

@@ruiraptor ya I didn't realize it was that simple. I've since learned 8gb is maximum size of card. I actually learned a ton from this experience thank you. I also just now learned about the cursor file extension from your reply! Thank you! I ended up doing a ton of changes, hard ware and soft ware, I changed the machine name while I was at it to identify the new firmware, but the version of marlin showed up after the flash, so I knew instantly it worked. I had to do firmware on an old machine years back, and I remember it being easier than everyone was making it seem, I didn't have much trouble figuring out a solution, using arduino, I just hadn't realized the new boards flashed themselves on boot from a binary file. This is so clever and quite convenient, I didn't expect it. Thank you very much, your video was very helpful, there was a few questions I was left with before going into this and you ended up clarifying them in this. Gave me the confidence to jump in. Also your fast reply to comment is greatly appreciated! I'll save this video for future reference if someone else needs help. (This is so much easier than the old methods!, everyone should have a 32 bit board if for nothing else this reason)

I have the Orbiter Extruder installed.
On the productpage they give you a "Recommended firmware configuration".
Only one problem. My controllerboard run with Marlin firmware but the "Recommended firmware configuration" is for Reprap firmware.
So i try to figure out what the settings are in Marlin but i can not find the correct settings.
This is what i shoud configure in the firmware:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Recommended firmware configuration:
    Steps: 690 steps/mm @ 16 micro-stepping
    Acceleration: 600 mm/s^2
Maximum instantaneous speed change (jerk): 300 mm/min(RRF), 5 (Marlin)
    Maximum speed: 3600 mm/min
    Pressure advance: 0.02s
    Retraction: ~1.2mm
    Retraction speed: 60mm/s
Motor current: 0.5A Peak or 0.35A RMS
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can anyone direct me to the correct lines (using stock Marlin Marlin-2.1.x.zip)?
If i could have a linenumber with a copy of the line and the correct values then i would be very thankfull.
I did write the maker of the Orbiter about this but didn't get an answer back until now.
