Dodge should simply offer to buy them back at MSRP, then sell these now used cars at invoice to those of us who don't care about the top speed limiter. Easiest way to make them go away while costing them almost nothing...
I never saw these vehicles as anything more than track cars. Other than markups I don't understand the issues. It wasn't advertised as anything but a track car. The opener for the vehicle was where? At the track.

A 812 GTS smoked the Dodge Demon 170 on "track" 4 times in a row, the 812 was factory NA v12 front engine rear drive. If I paid 300k for a dodge it better freaking beat a luxury GT coup but it can't/didn't. This was on the Hennessy Race track Straight, video is on their YT channel. Add in a top speed of 149 unless in Drag mode to 159mph while most super cars are 200+ mph ya no thanks.

I'm with you guys I build my shit I don't buy it and I can build a bad ass fast car for a quarter of the price of a demon and beat it I watch all kinds of drag racing and the demons challenger's ect are never there a bunch of horsepower and that's it no suspension no control shit breaks and a shit chassis love the way they look but there not worth it.

I love your vids Brad, especially how you promote taking personal responsibility for one's choices. Honestly, if someone pays six figures for a "special purpose" automobile, they should be well-informed about the car, including speed limiters, especially if speed is what they care about. Watched a RUclipsr yesterday, claiming to be a real gear head, who had purchased a Demon 170, yet he was whining about the speed limiter as if he had been duped. Seriously?!? He didn't know about the limits of the driveshaft? When I special ordered my '22 Scat WB Shaker 6M in Sinamon Stick, I did my research as to what the car can and cannot do and what its strengths/weaknesses are compared to other cars in its category. No surprises, just deep satisfaction! Keep informing and educating OCM!!!

what they did is smart and ethical. It is literally on very damn dodge sticker (not on some mopars like the redeye that is equipped with the 99y rated tires) clear as day that says Speed Limiter. The same people who will pay insane Mark ups for this car are the same type of people who will try to run the gauntlet on V rated tires. Trust they won't live to tell the tale if try it. Also, the car is more than capable of running well over 200 mph. All someone would n ineed to due is a simple tone to take off the limiter and it will go. Hopefully these people will be smart enough to pay for 99Y rated tires that can support a 2 ton car going over 200 mph.

Is there aftermarket software for it? My 1991 BMW 850i was speed limited to 155 mph on the USA version. I bought a Dinan Stage 2 kit (3 chips) for engine and transmission. On Mid Ohio raceway, I was clocked at 172 on the back straight away. So, Dian eliminated the rev limiter and gave me an extra 100 horsepower. There should be a fix for the Demon

Not sure about top speed but my wife and I each have a 2021 super stock I've had mine to 176 and hers 172. Honestly it was still going and I let off. So not sure how far it would go.

Dealerships nowadays tend to include mandatory, binding arbitration agreements in their sales contracts-a clever, though highly anti-consumer, legal move. Those that do are probably going to avoid (a) getting dragged into court, (b) inclusion into class/collective actions, (c) being subjected to extensive discovery, and (d) publication of any arbitration findings or resolutions. Ya. A nice fraud allegation tied to a notarized agreement they didn’t honor could knock down an arbitration agreement in a couple of seconds. But who knows.
Complain to the FTC who then might sue for false advertising and fraud. So not only will buyers likely be compensated, but Dodge will face stiff penalties too.
Dodge could fix this with a simple tune, but then the WARRANTY claims would be astronomical 😮
I read the driveshaft and tires aren't meant for that so just having a tune wouldn't be safe. Why would they expose themselves like that

Back in 2000 I bought a Dakota R/T and there was a class action law suit because Dodge lied about the towing rating. They offered me a buy back minus mileage or 800$ in dealer exesories. I took the dealer exesories.

Shopping a brand new Hellcat right now in the northeast … most are sticker … some thousands over and some 2-3K under sticker … I want one but don’t wanna be fooled … I truly value your opinion OC … would you buy one in todays market at sticker or a few thousand below .. I myself am looking at 2023 Challenger Redeye Widebodies. None are at, or near, MSRP. I am a month late here. For you, did you try Dan Cummins in Paris KY? Big selection. I am on the fence though. Been hearing alot about QC issues on the 2023's.

i honestly just want the fuel system for them to do the flex fuel conversion on my redeye but doubtful they’ll release them to us, but also if i had the 170 id already have tuned so the governor would be removed either way
I know that sounds like the logical thing to say but with the current EPA investigation and cancellation of defeat devices most modern cars are not tunable!! The 24 Mustang has been out quite a bit longer then the 170 and it still isn’t tunable!! So easier said than done! I believe the C8 Corvette still is not tunable! If I’m wrong about the C8 I apologize!
@@stevensink5544 mustang was cracked by a shop recently , don’t think many more have but it won’t be much longer , but i get what you’re saying and if that’s the case dodge should allow a pcm flash that removes the governor at a dealer with a signed waiver since the tires ratings are under question for that set up

I'm philosophical about this issue. If one owns a Demon 170, use it for its intended purpose. If you really wanted a road racing car, trade it for a Hellcat widebody. But driving a car optimized for drag racing into the 150-200 MPH range would be dangerous and not much fun even if the car's computer would allow it. Don't sue Dodge for creating such a unique and special vehicle.
Regarding the car feeling like it was going to leave the road surface at speed vs racing it on a drag strip - the drag strip is smooth and level while public roads may not be. Sticky tires and track surface have nothing to do with the amount of down force on the car as that comes from vehicle weight and aerodynamic forces both of which do not change whether you are running on a drag strip or public roads!

Sold my challenger cause suspension problems and door jam leaks ,creaking inside and they drained my battery from recall tire sensors and didn’t replace my battery cause aftermarket alarm cause it’s easy to steal
Wow, makes me appreciate my BMW M5 Comp; I can go 160 and it feels like I am doing 60. As the old saying goes, power is nothing if you can't control it!
I would argue that the suspension is sloppy in the 170 and not properly set up for drag racing. Drag racers try to get the excessive movement out of the shocks. There is so much travel in the 170 and that's why it has trouble hooking, and why it does wheelies (which drag racers tune their suspension to get rid of).
There is absolutely a LOT of movement in the suspension. I haven't run mine hard yet but it raises up, well, like a boat....

First off anyone that would be Stupid enough to run those Tires and Struts at 200 miles per Hour doesn't deserve to own thie 170. Lucky they are able to License them, The COPO Camaro which can go tht Fast and More and NO TITLE!
Rebuild the Install a Cage which should be mandatory anyhow, Suspension, Brakes, Change Wheels and Tires, fix the Aero, and Most Likely a Rear Gear Change!

Hey Brad not everyone that is upset about the top speed paid over sticker! I seen a video the other day of an avid Texas mile racer that has a 2016 Hellcat that he top speed races and saw the 215 mph advertised top speed and traded in a pristine early Challenger and a current Mustang GT350r plus cash to get the 215 mph 170 and wow to his disappointment! He said he paid sticker and he’s not a drag racer!! I think his channel was called Demon170! Probably a new channel! But this guy has a legitimate gripe!! Not only is the top speed an issue I have not seen anyone with a 170 go 8 second anything!! I know not everyone who buys these cars is a RUclipsr but a good amount of them are! It’s sad this car is the real modern Dud!! Not the Dark Horse Mustang!!
It's a street legal drag car. I never even considered the top speed when I bought mine. And comparing it to a Z06 or anything like that is absolutely crazy. I had a Corvette Grand Sport and a Hellcat at the same time. They are completely different cars. And actually I prefer the Challenger. It's way more comfortable, and easier to get in and out of. The Corvette is a sports car, the challenger is a muscle car. If you want too go 200 miles an hour then buy a sports car. I prefer the power at the bottom end of the speed. Where in the hell am I going to go 200 miles an hour. LOL.
A Corvette is more fun in corners than a Challenger. It also zips around better. You don’t have to drive 200 mph to have fun.

Poor Shawn 😂😂😂😂 Glad I got my Last Call Charger Redeye. It’s got everything I need. The Demon is still cool, but you’ve gotta love it for what it is. It’s a track rat and nothing else, and if that’s your thing, cool. But, if anyone bought the Demon because you thought it was going to be a jack-of-all trades, master of none, you either lied to yourself or the dealer’s sales pitch was hella strong. Any of the Hellcats will serve you much better.
I am looking at 2023 Challenger Redeye Widebodies. On the fence though. Hearing alot about QC issues with the 2023's. Regardless of the year your Redeye is. Hope it's been good to you.
I spent 31 years in martial arts. 8 of those years were spent practicing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and I can tell you we would have these body builder types come in, and they would think that they could have their way but find out that lifting weights doesn't equate to actual self defense. We had 160-pound guys literally mopping the floor with these 200 plus meatheads! It was fascinating to see.
Before even watching this video I'm going to assume it's speed limited due to the tires the demon comes equipped with

Some people bought these as a showoff piece which never made any sense considering what this vehicle is for, it's a 1/4 mile drag car, It's pointless (damn near dangerous) on the streets for the most part, if you wanted a top speed monster you shouldn't have looked at this car lol. This car is exposing a lot of people for not having common sense.
I paid sticker! At Ancira in San Antonio Texas,. I never paid one dime over. I have only praise for Ancira., this dealership is perfect for the customers. hearing all the horror story’s I feel very fortunate to have a dealership who will not screw you over.
