I was camping near Austin by lake Travis and I played the entire Blues Brothers cassette tape as loud as possible. Other campers loved it. We were all Blues Brothers fans.

My husband made biscuits and gravy for our day after Christmas. We have one dog that eats a little biscuits and gravy in her breakfast and one that only wants the biscuit in his. I remember the day John died. I heard it on the radio as I was driving to visit my boyfriend. He shared an apartment with my brother back then. When I walked in, they had The Blues Bros. album playing, cranked up and everyone was laughing and singing along. I told them I just heard about this, and you guys sure seem cheerful about bad news! "Ummm, WHAT???" That's when everything stopped and they were both gobsmacked. They had NOT heard, they were just really digging that album because it was so good. I felt like Debbie Downer.
I remember it was my day off I was home mom calls me from her friends house and said they found belushi dead I'm like no was and she goes turn on CNN I did and it was all true...later that night his spirit visited me to say goodbye and how sorry he was he didn't MEAN to do it I said motherfucker get lost u fucked up its on u fuck off he was like aw baby don't be like that I said really nasty like fuck off motherfucker get lost he just sighed like I deserve that then he was gone . I have never ONCE cried for him ....he knew I was pissed...I still haven't forgiven him my rage has doubled down to a sadness that can't be described...he's not rip...what happened was evil incarnate and he was fooled by users he thought were his friends...ces deliberately killed him for 25 minutes of fame. Nobody cared about her even less now that she's dead too...some loss ...everybody who knew John wondered wtf was he doing with ces...it didn't end well...
Check out the original by the Chips in 1956 they cut a 45. Elwood is very serious about his music that's the main reason he went to Steve Cropper who brought Donald Duck Dunn with him to form the Blues Brothers Band.

He just didn't look all that happy in the film. At least to me he didn't. Maybe I am reading to much into it. BB2000 is just a hard movie to watch. Again, just my opinion. Sure there are those who love it. The first one was an all time classic and just a hard one to top. I may have said the same things even if John was alive and in BB2000. There just was not anything in the first movie that screamed that it needed a sequel.

As upbeat as this song sounds, it's actually talking about living in such extreme poverty that you can't get anything but a spartan meal, if you get it at all. Pretty depressing.
