- When the Blues Brothers (John Belushi and DAan Akroyd) turn up for a country and western gig, they have to think fast on their feet to win over the crowd. Will a unique rendition of the Rawhide theme save the day?
From "The Blues Brothers": when brothers Joe and Jake Elwood discover the orphanage in which they were raised is destined to be forecloseed, the pair set out on "a mission from God" to raise the $5000 needed to pay the orphanage's property tax bill. Deciding that the best way to do it is to reunite their old R&B band, the brothers encounter a homicidal "mystery woman" (Carrie Fisher), Neo-Nazis, and a country and western band - all while being relentlessly pursued by the police.

I love how when they hate them they throw beer bottles.
And when they love them, they throw beer bottles.
Its for the best
They throw them with love when the music's right.
There's actually a pitching machine behind the bar they never told you about, it just constantly launches trash at the stage. Last week a dude got hit in the nuts by a half-eaten chili dog and died. True story.
you didnt ask yourself, "why the chicken wire around the stage?" 1:29
When they're angry they're really throwing them, but when they're happy they just kind of lob them in
We got both kinds, country, and western. Clasic, just classic.
Definitely my most quoted movie line.
You're gonna look pretty funny tryin' to eat corn on the cob with no fuckin' teeth!
Genius line -I still use it at work but often have to explain it to “the kids”
😂
A hostess actually told me that in Moab,UT back in 1985. She did not appear to be joking.
"That ain't no Hank Williams song!"
Man, the delivery is so perfect!
😂😂😂😂
I used that when Old Town Road was performed at the Grand Ole Opry.
It's hard to believe that was slightly more than 43 years ago.
Oh holy crap that's right lol

Absolutely. This how true art should look like: you're just not able to catch the time gap...
Blue Lou doesnt say much in this movie but the few lines he does have are comedy genius. "Chicken Wire?"😂😂😂
im a korean woman and i watch movies 😮 in 2023! 🎉 triangle
I distinctly remember when this played on network TV, this would be the line they'd cut to commercial from.
@@kevinkuenn5733 it's weird how those memories get ingrained, we have terminator 1 and 2 on vhs that we recorded from tv and i always remember the bits where they cut to adverts
He always reminds me of Floyd from the Muppets lol
Opening night of this movie, I was there with my girlfriend’s brother. We were in stitches all the way home.
Some of the best classic lines in any movie. Both kinds. Country and Western. 4 fried chickens and a Coke. You, me, THEM, everybody.
I love how they keep throwing bottles at the chicken wire even after they are playing Rawhide, which the crowd loves.
And to cap it off at the end he says "theme from raw hide" 《bottle smash》 "thank you!". Just comedy gold
Yo dry white toast
That ain't no Hank Wiiliams song.
And I’ll throw in the black keys for free!
My grandfather who was born in 1911 had 2 movies that he liked and would watch anytime they came on. Blues brothers and Home Alone. This just takes me back….
In regards of Blues Brothers - the man had taste
my grandfather rejects every single movie there is, he only likes tornado(the ninetys one) vertical limit and Münich he wasnt as old as yours he is from 1948
Yeah my friends step dad loved this film so much he'd put it on at random places and just enjoy the music
Both with John candy
The good old boy dancing on the table was a nice touch.
"What kind of music do you usually have here?
"Oh, we got both kinds. We got Country AND Western!"
Kills me every time.
chicken wire??
This was the silliest bit in the movie. As if any blues musician doesn’t know every old school
Country staple from Hank Williams to Mother Maybelle.
That bassline at the beginning of Rawhide is unmatched!!!! And Belishi just standing there like a soldier saying his part of the song is the most gangster shit ever!! Belushi was an absolute beast in this movie.
The AMAZING John Belushi. Another one we, sadly, lost FAR too early..RIP John!!
Dan absolutely nails the vocals on this track.I must have watched this movie 100 times no doubt. One of the best ever.
Elwood:" what kind of music do you usually have here?"
"OH we have both kinds country and western"
I wonder what makes a song "country" vs "western".
@@ciderfan823 If you have to ask there is no point in trying to explain it to you. LOL
@@ciderfan823 one is sung by cowboys, the other sung by hillbillies, the combination of which, country-western, is sung by rednecks
@@ciderfan823 Mainly the amount of times you slap your chest while yelling "DERR DEERR DERRRRR".
@@ciderfan823Country: My wife ran off with my dog and truck.
Western: same thing, but usually involving gunfighters.
I love this scene, because the writers put it in to show that this band was supposed to be so good, they could win over just about anybody! And the scene totally works and gets that across!
My absolute favorite scene from the blues brothers, when he ask “ what kind of music do you usually have here?” And the reply “ oh we got both kinds, country and western”. I quote this all the time.
Lmfao just realized this was suppose to be set in Kokomo, Indiana. An accurate depiction of the level of sophistication possessed by that town.
No matter how many times you've seen this movie, there is always some new tiny detail of hilarity to be found, or relived. Brilliant from start to finish
🤗
This is the first time I ever heard Rawhide!!! This is my favorite rendition!!!
Elwood reaction when Jake tells the female bartender we're the band😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂 I never noticed that.

I paid a respectful visit to John Belushi's grave on Martha's Vineyard back in 2018, when I went to visit my brother. A towering talent, lost way too soon.
Speedball got him.

I' ve been watching this scene since it was first released. I do not remember how many times I watched it. It never ever fails to crack me into laughter and good vibes whenever I watch it again. Thank you all!
One of the most classic lines in a movie "What kind of music do you usually have here?" "Oh, we have both kinds, Country and Western".
For 30 years I worked as a entertainer in Australia and this is exactly whats its like
This is my favorite movie of all time!
I love hoy Elwood says "thank you" as beer falls on his jacket!
Theee Best movie on the planet❤❤❤❤1/2024
It’s crazy how phones listen to our thoughts. I randomly thought about looking this scene up and now it shows up on here
I wish I was an extra in the dining room crowd!! LOL!!
I remember watching this movie on television the night I finally beat Donkey Kong Country!

That’s a nice memory
@@Fibonaccisghost it was back in 2004, some months before I finished the 1st grade.

@@nationeer LOL! It was the 2003 GBA version.
My all time favourite films were in no particular order, Blazing Saddles, Blues Brothers and Terminator Two, oh and Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
One of the best comedies EVER made!!!!
Still blows my mind that the whole band drank $300 of beer. Even for 10 men, that was a lot of beer.
Back then??Yea,for SURE!!!;😂😂😂
@@jefflongsr2062 And they drove away. And no one got alcohol poisoning?
@@BradleyJuby It was only Bud.

@@SergeantExtremewhy do you say that?
Gemme some loveing..those horns nailed it
Later in the evening they sing: ‘Stand by Your Man’ and it’s fabulous to hear him say ‘sometimes it’s hard to be a woman…’
The first time I heard David Allan Coe's cover of "Stand By Your Man" I wondered "What in God's Name did they DO to him in that prison?"
A great band pulls shit like this all the time. Drags a song out of a hat that they've never practiced, but nails it on command because they're that f'ing good musicisns.
"Fake it till you make it," that's gotta mean something.
@@ianfinrir8724 That's what they're doing in this scene. If you remember the song from hearing it each week, they are just repeating the same three lines over and over again because they don't know most of the words. They are totally faking it.
@@emmitstewart1921And the crowd was buying it.
@@christinebonner2210 Just like you and I, sitting in the movie audience, totally bought it because of the precious childhood memories it brought back.
I've played a gig behind chicken wire...lol..
did you get beers thrown at ya?
We need to hear more of this.
I played a gig once where the stage (such as it was) had both chicken wire and plywood surrounding it.
When I first saw this movie, the part with the chicken wire across the stage, caused me to burst out laughing.
I remember watching this movie as a kid, probably the earliest memory of me watching a movie, I never knew the name of the film or even anything about the premise just vague visions of two men in suits and Belushi's beard .
That club has both kinds of music: country and western!
Elwood's quick look at Jake after he says we're the band
This was the best scene in the movie! It’s hilarious.
Oh, man! Now you've done it! Now I have to watch the entire Blues Brothers movie.
...again.
THATS HOW U WERE MADE@@mvorselen
Were the good ole blues brothers boys from Chicago. Love that.
The best Country music in Chicago 😊
Love how John is motionless at first. One of the funniest men ever.
Such a great movie, everyone involved was just wonderful
One of the best scenes in one of the best films (comedy or otherwise) ever
Definitely in the top 100 scenes in movie history,
The true reality of life right here.... when they hate you ....they love to throw shit at you..... & when they love you..... they still love to throw shit at you.... LOL !
Best musical comedy film ever made.
I loved John Belushi's version of stand by your man. Totally funny.😂😂😂
It’s the most sensitive, heart warming version of that song ever. It always makes me cry,
….. with laughter.
Es ist immer noch Top
One of the BEST SCENES of any movie EVER!
Brass section was awesome!
Lol, the guy that starts dancing on the table! :D
Music from start to finish! was as good as it gets
"A, good country key" what a most perfect line
A GOOD COUNTRY ASS WHIPPIN SUNNY
Right! And none of those flat keys!
Good country keys! A, G, and D!
This movie captured lightning in a bottle! Truly enjoyable 💥💥
…and then some tweaked out redneck threw the bottle against the chicken wire.
We have both kinds of music, Country and Western......... HA HA HA HA YA
Best Movie EVER!!! My favorite!! I have the Blues Brothers back to back poster as my Right Arm tattoo!!
I still love this scene it is so awesome 👌
Such a funny movie.😊
I lived down the street from Frankie Laine, one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. Now to be fair he was a crazy old drunk, I was about 7 when I first ran into him and he started yakking to me and just telling me old random stories while drunk that I didn't quite get, but he was always super nice. When I was 13 he was SUPER fun as he would invite me in and give me a shot of bourbon and regale me with tales of how the neighbors were sleeping with each other and had illegal permits on their houses. It wasn't until after he died that I finally was informed that oh yeah that was the dude that sang Rawhide!
Seen in concert Red Rocks. 1980 maybe 79 can’t remember but great band. Anyone else???
Saw them in 1981 at the long beach arena. They opened up for Steve Martin.
Proud to say my City, Melbourne Australia has the world record for the longest run of the Blues Brothers in first release
Amazing scene, the whole of it is top notch
Saw this on release, still a great film
we love 2 types of music country and western!
As someone who’s played a venue like this in an Australian outback pub, that chicken wire seems a lot thinner than it actually is…
I played a gig once where not only was there chicken wire there was also plywood coming up to about knee high. I don't know why the plywood was there but I'm glad it was there.
BET SO @@ianfinrir8724
Well there was plexiglass too, so that counts for something.
This movie is litteraly a snowball escalating into a avalanche.
Love the quote from this film what kind of music do you have here ? "We have both kinds Country and Western" To funny !!!
Gettin’ that *Kalispell Hop* going on the table-dancing…
Theme from the TV show Rawhide, Thank you.
Pure classic, through & through!¡!
The absolute best version of rawhide
"Gil Favor , Rowdy Yates " 👍
the chicken wire doesn't seem to stop the glass though :O
You can't make this shit up. Just like this scene I walk into a club I'm going to play with a Rock Band and Tammy Wynette's "My DIVORCE" is on the jukebox . I'm the first one there so I'm by myself setting up and I hear a Regular at the bar say : I'll bet all they play is that Damn Rock Music! I thought "oh Hell, here we go." But the rest of the band set up and 2 songs into the night someone yelled out : you guys know any AC / DC? I knew it was going to be OK!
0:44 my favorite line in the whole movie. I have been labeling my country mix tapes and now my playlist as "both kinds" for the last 30 years.
Fav of the horn section 😅 stays with the show band script...
Been through so many dumps, and dives, just like this one! Lol
Excellent

I'm 47 and watched this countless times and i never noticed how much Matt 'guitar' Murphy enjoys playing Gimme Some Lovin'!! He is back there absolutely in a zone. The little head bop as they start 1:55 had me in tears😂😂😂😂
Came here after watching Cab Calloway…doggone it time to watch this classic with my kids😂
I love that they throw things at them no matter if they like the music or not.
Brilliant clip and the guy from Kelly's Heroes.
We got both kinds.
They were both wonderful singers and dancers really
The best part of the video, outside of his amazing talent, is the reaction from his family. Loved to see the dancing by his family. Lots of love there
They should have played the Bonanza theme too!
I played a gig at a place like this at Revere Beach in Boston (The Beachcomber), complete with chicken wire.
This was a great time in life
