A small point about the scene itself. At 2:39 - 2:40, Maverick pops a toggle on the stick with his pinky. That's the off-switch for the G-force limiter, which is why he can do the 10G pull-out. Normally, the plane wouldn't let him put that sort of strain on itself, and himself. That's a VERY VERY minor thing, and something that no-one would really know wasn't there, if it wasn't. Not only that, he did it in half the time the mission parameters were calling for, which was a feat the younger pilots (and the admiral) were doubting they could pull off. You must have forgot the bar scene before the class ever assembled, or did not watch the movie yet, which one??? Believe me your not looking to the sides of the canopy when your flying that low. If you do, your going to find yourself in a bunch of pieces on the side of a mountain. Lost one squadron mate that way checking his 6 for the bogey and not checking his 12. The attack mission can be very unforgiving
@@chriskelly6559 yep 420ias into a mountain, isn’t pretty. Never understood why the Navy had the squadron investigate its own accidents. I guess to make a point.

With my telescope trained on the moon, I ran in and checked the TV coverage and made notations on my map. Years later, I bought an old camera. It had film in it. I had it developed and low, and behold, the images were of the landing. What an incredible night it was!
This scene is so good with the engine noise and the volume of the surround system on very loud!
The real problem these guys face is the unfortunate real possibility of drowning in pussy.
Now the question is, why didn't he do this to show the others it could be done before they were the ones to go through it?
did yoda show luke the power of the force before he gave up? Its to teach them to never put limits on yourself or your abilities
Improvements don't happen suddenly.
You must have forgot the bar scene before the class ever assembled, or did not watch the movie yet, which one??? They were arrogant insufferable know it alls, until they kept failing, then he proved it could be done, and he was still a better pilot capable for his age compared their youth. It was the perfect dose of humble pie for the whole class.
@@mykeybarbee2587 Yes I did watch the whole movie and yes I did note the bar scene and guess what he was doing with the dogfighting before going through the mission? Bringing them down a notch. What he should have done was have them do it a couple times and listen to them complain and then do it himself to show them it could be done and that will help them try harder knowing that no matter how impossible it might seem it can still be done.
@@gauravjha8938 No they don't, and yet after him doing it one time in a practice run all of the sudden the pilots could do it for real.
Love it.
Thank you very much 😊 it worked in my head I don't think to many others liked it thank you for you view and comment
Hey man, that was excellent from start to finish. Thanks alot👍👍👍🏁💯
we wait so long for you... and Black Betty from Ram Jam... Yeah... Lovin it...
Believe me your not looking to the sides of the canopy when your flying that low. If you do, your going to find yourself in a bunch of pieces on the side of a mountain. Lost one squadron mate that way checking his 6 for the bogey and not checking his 12. The attack mission can be very unforgiving
Bunch of very tiny pieces.
@@chriskelly6559 yep 420ias into a mountain, isn’t pretty. Never understood why the Navy had the squadron investigate its own accidents. I guess to make a point.
It's a good thing Tom Cruise is in the back seat and not actually flying then.
One of the saddest things I ever heard was the report of a military jet crashing into a mountain. Just before the crash the pilot radioed "Not the plane's fault". So, suicide. He didn't want the plane blamed.
In the filming, he was a backseater, so he was just doing what comes naturally.
The music adds to the adrenaline rush.
