The movie has Everything… it’s like a buffet or an everything bagel! Sirens, devil worshipers, con artists, floods, scrubs (men), religious worshipers, plus more… it’s a great movie 🤘🏾👍🏽🖤🖤
The whole second half- and climax - of the movie rests on the song being good, and if it wasn't then this movie wouldn't have had the ability to make 76 million dollars during its 3-month-long screening back in 2000.
Charles During, the guy who comes on the stage last, was not only an excellent actor, but a hero and badass as well. He was a WWII vet who landed with an Artillery unit on the Normandy beaches after the initial landings. After being wounded by a German anti-personnel mine he spent six months recovering. He was awarded three Purple Hearts, and the Silver and Bronze Stars with Valor, as well as the WWII Victory medal, incredible man and hero!
He played a WWII vet in NCIS, season 2, episode 7, that had lived almost 60 years with the guilt of killing his best friend while hiding from the Japanese. If you haven't seen this show and episode I highly recommend it.
Its a shame you're so mad they transitioned. just because they hadn't yet doesn't mean they weren't just closeted on the matter at this time? 2 trans people made things you loved. shit like that is supposed to help you grasp the normality of the subject, not make you a bitter bad person.
@@asksalottle220 Im sorry, but what now?? are you confusing the Coens with the Wachowski sisters who made the Matrix movies? At what point does my comment seem I am "mad" at anyone? Are you off your meds???
I once read that the directors originally wanted to actually have George Clooney singing the song himself, but after just 15 seconds of him singing, they decided to hire a actual singer. That's how the band Union Station ended up singing the actual song!! 😆
Only one of the three actually were singing, and I think it was the shortest if I remember correctly. The other two couldn't sing well enough to make it into the movie.
I thought it was George that asked to do the singing himself and they let him do it. Then they hired someone to dub over it for the release because he was not good.
My older brother refused to believe that George Clooney couldn't sing. "There's no way someone related to Rosemary Clooney could be a bad singer!" he said
In an interview Dan Tyminski told his Wife he had a chance to have his voice come out of George Clooney mouth. Her response was " Honey I have been waiting years for that" He did laugh at that.
My condolences and may your memories of your Mama be as fresh and heavenly as the lady was herself. My Nan was a lady like your Mama, loved a good knees up and never was there a more saintly Lady. I hope that you are dancing to this beautiful tune also 🤙

This brilliant movie convinced my brother in the end that George Clooney is more than a handsome face.... And this scene we played as loud as possible.... Boy, was that fun watching the movie several times... My COEN Brothers favorite for all times!! 🥳🥳
Lol. His singing voice is dubbed by Dan Tyminski. The original lead vocal on that song. Unless you were talking about his acting chops that is and not his singing.
@@kopicat2429 When Tyminski learned he was cast for this film, he told his wife she'll get to hear his voice coming out of Clooney's face, to which she responded 'that's all I've ever wanted.'

This is the reason they taught us to play the recorder as little kids! Every country boy knows this song. Amazing from a musician stand point. This rendition is accurate to a Tee!
What does he mean by that? I get that miscegenated means mixed race, but integrated? The context makes it seem like it's supposedly a bad thing and people like them regardless of this bad thing. How is integration a bad thing? Must be some meaning I don't know.
@SanityTV_Last_Sane_Man_Alive I think he incorrectly calls them miscegenated because he saw them as the color guard at the lynching (at which he exclaims "who made the color guard colored?"). They're covered in dirt so their skin looked a bit darker in that scene

He was born in Lexington, Ky, His dad was an anchorman in Cincinnati and tv host and his Aunt was Rosemary Clooney a singer and actress from back in the day. Just a little useless info for ya!!!! Lol
This movie taught me more about history than the history class I took in high school. They showed the movie at the end of class. I wish they had showed this first so we had visual references when reading the history book because a lot of us were visual learners. Man made lakes, chain gangs, bonified, and so on.
