Charles During, the guy who comes on the stage last, was not only an excellent actor, but a hero and badass as well. He was a WWII vet who landed with an Artillery unit on the Normandy beaches after the initial landings. After being wounded by a German anti-personnel mine he spent six months recovering. He was awarded three Purple Hearts, and the Silver and Bronze Stars with Valor, as well as the WWII Victory medal, incredible man and hero!

I was first introduced to Leonard Cohen in college, when his songs “Suzanne” and “Sisters of Mercy” were part of the repertory of a kazillion kids trying to learn the guitar. Me, for one. That was 1969.
I graduated, life happened, and Cohen slipped my mind. Two decades later a new lover sent me Cohen lyrics - l’m Your Man among them.
I asked incredulously, “These are song lyrics?” After some conversation I realized I already knew him.
The lover went away, but I’ve clung to Cohen for dear life.
I love his music. I adore his lyrics. I’m not sure I would have liked him.
