- After Eddie Guerrero was released from the WWF in November 2001, he embarked on a short but very important period of his career -- his time in indies such as ROH and IWA Mid-South. This chronicles the time when he came back from the bottom, cleaned himself up and started making his way back to the top. Enjoy!

Hopefully you've enjoyed this vid about this little period in Eddie's career -- there's a lot of gems just from these 6 months, and they're worth seeking out here on RUclips. The channels where these matches can be located can be found through the video, and at the vid's end.
Can you make a video about the dark ages between 2009-2012 in pro wrestling NOAH
Great job, KJ.

U didn't even show his matches. Dr.
Just imagine being one of the indy wrestlers that Eddie was facing in this run, you think he's going to come in and be like "I'm going over, brother" only for him to tell you "YOU'RE going over". That honestly shows what a great person Eddie is (not perfect, but who among us is?). Really awesome to take a gander at this often overlooked period in Eddie's career.
CM punk talking about this years ago. Eddie was the man.
And also if he would of been going over on you he's still doing you a huge favor, so you are honored to just be there and then he tells you that you are winning. Probably felt like Christmas as a kid
@@carolynbuckley8733 That's a good point to raise. Especially as a young wrestler on the indies even working a match with a big name, regardless of who went over can open doors for you once promoters hear about it.
@@12345678901011213 I'm Johnny and I just wrestled Bob Fossil at the zoo has less of a ring to it that I'm Johnny and I just wrestled Eddie freaking Guerrero.
@@carolynbuckley8733🎯🤤🥴
Eddie was the first of several who went to the indies, destroyed their demons and came back to WWE and had the best run of their lives, I would give anything to have him in this world still
Hey Chavo
You're right Don Ramón
@@awesomecool3280 Wait, how el chavo is it known in us? Or are you Latin like me?
The fact that we NEVER got a full Eddie vs HBK feud is a crime against humanity
It really is!
that was going to be a match for wrestlemania 22.
I had the honor of watching Eddie guerrero go against super crazy in person, the crowd absolutely loved those two. One of the best memories i have with my father is seeing two of my favorite wrestlers competing , makes me wish my pops was still around. Rip pops, Rip Eddie 😢
Your pop is a Champion and so are you. Condolences. Keep on rockin
Will never forget you Eddie, those IWA matches for the IC tittle here in puerto rico were crucial for establishing the quality in the ring going forward. One of the greatest of all time.
This documentary has reminded me of the forthcoming "Iron Claw" biopic about the Von Erichs. Eddie Guerrero's life also also make for a great movie.
Yes, but who would play Eddie? Any ideas? Genuinely curious because I can't think of anyone
@@jonbourgoin182Zac Efron
@@jonbourgoin182Daniel Day Lewis
@@jonbourgoin182 Gael García Bernal or that guy who plays one of Salamanca in better caul saul, the one with the mustache
@@jzon3251 I think the only wrestler Daniel could play is Roddy Pipper, they both have an unusual intensity
I remember seeing him interviewed on Blue Peter when out on the Indies.
.....f**k knows why I was watching Blue Peter in my early 20s
Probably having your tea! Blue peter then neighbours
Eddie Guerrero on Blue Peter is as surreal as if Mitsuharu Misawa had become a regular on Coronation Street.
His roh run was great despite how short it was
The guy was the complete package, incredible in the ring, one of the most charismatic guys to ever wrestle and he looked and sounded like a million bucks, a once in a generation type talent
He had the same it factor that The Rock and Shawn Michaels had.
A little background on Mike Thunder: originally from Oklahoma, wrestled primarily in North Texas; promotions he worked for were NWA Southwest, PCW & TCW/XCW.. He’s a former NWA World Jr Hwt Champion & in 2002 joined with John Allen to firm The Professionals, who I had the privilege of managing. Mike abruptly left wrestling in the fall of 2004 due to a family issue & to my knowledge never returned to wrestling.
Dope that this came out on my birthday
Happy Birthday 🎊 🎉 mine was on 11th :)
@@DigitalConceptz oh hell yeah happy birthday!
I was an Indy worker for IWC and I can honestly say the 30 min draw was one of the best matches I watched live. Unfortunately everyone in the back and in the crowd was expressly forbidden to record it. Hopefully someone somewhere snuck a video of it though cause it was a banger.
Eddie's indie period is one of the most fascinating of his career, so seeing that one of my favourite youtubers uploaded a video about it made my day! Great work as always - also, it was kinda surreal seeing my name in the credits; glad my copy of the Eddie/Punk match was able to help you out in making this video!
It's amazing to hear and see that Eddie had no problems with putting guys over on the indie scene and saw it as a "return to roots" for him.
I could only imagine what would have happened if Jeff Hardy had that mentality when he showed up in ROH
Wow. Once again you do it big, Kim. Eddie Guerrero is one of the greatest to ever step in a ring. His earler matches in ECW were amazing too. Definitely his run in WCW. WWE is when he gotten to prominence. I remember that Wrestlemanua when he won the title and Chris Benoit and him celebrated in the ring. That was burned in my brain.
Can't believe I never seen someone document his indie career in 2002
Eddie's 2001-2002 indies run is why CM Punk became The Best In The World later on in his career.
I used to wrestle with Amazing Red and the Maximos when they were starting out in the late 90’s. This is amazing!
love the video, but couldn´t stop myself from crying at the end, I miss him so much.
The small connections to what would be the future of wrestling give me chills, especially that Kenny Omega fact.
such an unforgiving business for those who wish to entertain others. you live on in our childhood memories eddie. thank you so much
Just Imagine if we got Eddie vs Joe, Eddie vs Hero, Eddie vs Danielson, Eddie vs Styles, Eddie vs Homicide etc while he was on the indies gone way too soon one of the all time greats
Chris Hero is an indie legend that gets zero respect or attention
I was at that match in Houston there was several big stars at that show I went because of Eddie there was him Jerry Lawler and one more but cannot remember who else.
Oh it’s a good day when Kim uploads
Fantastic as ever
Any chance of one of these awesome videos on Mike Awesome please?
Keep up the good work
Thank you for showing a lot of stand of Eddie Guerrero independent matches and also I know he came went back to New Japan but he can't show that this video cuz they will take down the RUclips channel
I got to see him on the indies and I felt so lucky to be able to see him in person. Got to shake his hand at the meet and greet as well. He was so humble and nice. I was so happy to see him back on TV a few months later. One of the GOATS without question.
Wow!!! Thanks for the upload Kim!! Guerrero is the king of the luchadors in WWF, plllleeasseeee do one on Dean Malenko, the man is a technical GOD!! He’s awesome lol
R.I.P. Eddie Guerrero 😢
Kim, you should definitely show us your top 10-25 favorite wrestlers soon. Thanks for the subtitles btw.
In the future can we get a video about Gedo & Jado I’m just so fascinated by them and I’d love to hear a breakdown from you❤
I was at that ICW match at the Elk’s Lodge .
I'm glad someone made a video on this, many people seem to forget Eddie was released in 2001.
Kurt Angle is my favorite of all time but Eddie is in my top 5. I remember Smackdown was a huge part of my childhood and Eddie was a big part of that. When he passed I legit thought Mr. Kennedy killed him because it was his last match and he hit him with a vicious chair shot. I was like 9 years old so I still thought it was 100 percent real. But so many good memories.
This is the longest I have watched wrestling in 20 years. Amazing video. EDDIE JERRY PUNK REY HARDY'S SUPER CRAZY. NARRATION IS EXCELLENT. THANK YOU.
Excellent video, as always!
Took me a minute to notice, but love the Sunset Riders theme in the background 😃
Thank you so much for this incredible video about Eddie Guerrero, it was so great to see a run of his that I haven't really seen much of before.
Eddie was easily one of the very greatest wrestlers to ever step foot in a ring and he is still very missed to this very day, he meant a lot to me when I watched wrestling when I was younger, And My younger sister actually shares the same day of birth as Eddie (October 9th)
Thank you for this. Eddie is still sorely missed and getting this rundown on his time in the indies is fascinating.
You get a 👍 for your Hulk Hogan impression. 10/10
I never knew Eddie has this run. Not only is this video a thorough examination, you did such a good job I couldn't stop watching once I started. Awesome work.
Just a couple days ago I downloaded and been watching since Eddie's matches in ROH and a couple of his IWA matches against CM Punk, so your timing is honestly astonishing XD.
Fond memories of watching that FWA show, then getting into the UK wrestling radio show and buying some other FWA on VHS through mail order.
Eddy was one of my favorites as well ,great work Kim ,greetings from México 😊
How Eddie didn't break his neck doing the Frog splash roll through I will never know.
Just wanted to say that your channel is fucking amazing. Love your content. Thanks for your hard work!
It's great to see the respect for Eddie's work grow even if it is posthumously.
If you want to find that IWC match between Guerrero and Punk, you should find Justin Plummer (owner of IWC) and see if it's in the back catalog. Hopefully, it's not lost media for IWC.
It’s interesting there is a story that nearly mirrors this but didn’t work out. Post scandals and demons X-Pac was a fan of Chikara and did a lot for them and he was teasing a comeback to the indies putting a lot of guys over on commentary. Ultimately it didn’t work out as he did some limited physical stuff here and there. In his own words he just couldn’t get back into the ring shape he wanted to be in to not look bad. I think his last thing was a program for GCW.
Easily the best wrestling channel on youtube. Thank you for another great episode.
Eddie,Benoit and Omega are my main influences for me to one day join the business and I absolutely love Eddie mentality of it doesn’t matter how many are in attendance u go out there win or loose u go out there and put a banger of a match to tell a story that’s a mentality I wanna have if I ever join the business
so you’re going to lean how drugs can destroy your life, steroids and head trauma can warp your reality and make you into a monster, and use every dirty trick behind the scenes to try to kill the careers of people who threaten your fragile ego while also proclaiming yourself as the best despite needing others to carry your career and give you the best matches?
nice inspirations…
@@bostonrailfan2427 I tend to view Eddie & Benoit as figures of pity (Eddie moreso cuz he'd been clean & happy when he died, where Benoit is more of a "pathetic monster" situation), but DAMN, I'm glad someone else sees Kenny Boy the same way I do. He's the "it's okay when our guy does it" dude for kids in wrestling who hate Hogan, cuz they're basically cut from the same damn cloth. No matter how good dude might be in the ring or how "yay, wholesome" he tries to be online, he's still not worth respecting cuz he's a selfish cliquish back-stabber.
@@melasnexperience …Eddie’s drug use caused his cardiac issues, he was away for over a hear because of drugs hence he had zero part in the invasion arc. he wasn’t exactly clean, he just got help to lessen it
@@melasnexperiencebingo
U both seem to be fun at parties 😐 (if u even get invited to parties)
I was a big Eddie Guerrero fan and for the longest time I’ve been trying to figure out what ring of honor DVD I used to have with him and I think I finally figured it out. A Night of Appreciation or maybe Begins lol
thank you, good video.
I loved Eddie Guerrero. He was one of my favorites. I still watch the match between Eddie and Brock and his feud with JBL. Eddie and Rey were good together as well. The custody of Dom storyline was the dumbest story with the best matches in my opinion
Another great video 🔥
Thank you for uploading this video
Great video, excellent work.
Thank you for making this.
Amazing video Kim.
Great topic and great video thank you for sharing
I worked the Eddie show for Phoenix Championship. I was a referee(not the eddie/nova match though). Eddie was pretty quiet and kept to himself in the lockerroom, gave advice to those who asked. It was the night after the ROH show, i think donnie b and nova might have split his fee with roh and got him to come to toms river. pretty sure he drove to the show with the SAT's and Red. Phoenix was always a fun time.
Great video. This was a weird time for Eddie. He was amazing but Benoit will always be my favorite.
Congrats for covering this period, so overlooked in Eddie's career.
Great video dude, had some stuff in it that I actually missed over the years.
My favourite wrestler I'd say is Larry Zybiszko as he's certainly one of the most interesting as he had such a long career and a great style of being a vocal heel who could sell the offence of younger guys but was believable in getting the upper hand.
Thank you for uploading this great video. Eddie's journey on the independent circuit was truly inspirational.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant Eddie documentary from you Kim!
great video!
Great video!!!!
Simply, thank you for this. Broke this down for me and I'm sure everyone else nicely.
If I would gone to Indie shows in 2001 instead of early 2003 I would have gotten to see Ki vs. Eddie in ICW and him also in USA Pro, For those wondering yes that ICW is the same ICW that does the No Holds Barred shows.
Great video, thank you
Quality video. Longtime viewer of your gaming stuff, only found this channel through this recommendation!
I totally forgot about Eddie and Team X-Tream!
Awesome documentary 💯 I love Eddie's run on the independents during this time especially his matches in ROH & IWA Mid South 💪 and I need to check out some of his matches from his time in FWA ... Keep up the amazing content 👍
Fantastic, Wonderful video my man. I've been an Eddie fan since the mid 90s and have never actually seen this footage. I've never sought it out or knew it existed. Such insightful content brother, thank you. Great work homie 👍
Amazing video! i wish i was older when all this happened but i just knew what was on tv. But this was a great way to experience his run in the indies that I had heard so much about. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for uploading these videos, I have enjoyed wrestling since the late 80's, I have to say your videos, commentary, research and over all feel to your videos are my favorite.
Great video.
excellent video
Great video
Long time subscriber, just now seen this video. Thanks Kim
I enjoy watching your documentary stuff. Thank you for reminding me how awesome the sport of professional wrestling is
This may be embarrassing, I've been a fan I've commented on your post. I love all your wrestling content. I just realized that I'm not subscribed to your channel. I guess i've just been watching you so much for sooo long it just kept popping up well I am now.😂
Really enjoyed this video! Eddie is one of those guys that I know was great but when I watch him, despite seeing his matches dozens of times it amazes me just how easy he makes everything look. Eddie was a perfect pro wrestler, he had everything a major star needed just an amazing talent.
The GOAT of youtube 🙌🏾
good vid bro
Another great upload Kim to me some of Eddie's best matches and only time he appeared in game's other than WCW and WWE ones in fact weren't didn't Eddie appear in a game with his brothers.
Great video, Kim. An interesting, and slightly emotional watch for me. Eddie was a one of the good guys. Forever missed.
The Revival show stands out for me. I remember watching it and was surprised to see Guerrero. I knew he wasn't in the fed anymore, but the visual of him in that environment was so cool
Watching this video make me miss Eddie again. man's a God in the ring both technical and entertaining aspect.
Great topic!!! Great video!! Great Wrestler!!
i watched a lot of matches from that period, and even when i was quite young, i saw in eddie's renewed intensity and precision some sort of desperate struggle with himself. It's really an interesting period to cover, because you see one of the greatest artists of the sport trying to prove something to himself, asking himself am i still myself.
I can't imagine how exciting it must have been for all these guys to be putting Eddie over. That probably felt better than being one of the guys Eddie put over
Eddie truly was pissed over a match with 25 people watching him lmao hes such a pro
6:21 every time i hear the name of his book, it makes me think about it being the autobiography of a vampire.
I missed you, Eddie. Excellent video!❤
Eddie and Punk had some great matches
excellent video, really fascinating and which allowed me to discover new informations about Eddie!
I thought I heard music from the excellent game Outlaws in the last part?
Punk vs Eddie vs Maskless Mysterio is crazy in hindsight
The FWA King of England show was also broadcast live on English radio station Talk sport!
This is gonna be awesome!
