BACKLUND vs. SASUKE in the Strangest Wrestling Tournament Ever
I forgot to mention Bob Backlund in Battlarts in a previous video, and now it's time to rectify that. Happily, it gives us a chance to look at the B-CUP, a strange wrestling tournament that will see Backlund take on Great Sasuke alongside all sorts of other odd occurences, and it gives us a chance to look at Battlarts itself. Enjoy!

Examining BS Received Pro Wrestling Opinions from the Internet
Просмотров 18 тыс.14 дней назад
There was a recent Twitter thread that talked about various pieces of received wisdom in pro wrestling that...well, just don't ring true for everyone. Is Inokism actually bad? What actually makes a good match? Is Misawa the best pillar? Here's my thoughts on some of these supposedly common opinions. Before Dump Matsumoto, before Aja Kong...there was Rhonda Singh, the Monster Ripper. She came from Canada in the late 1970's to destroy all before her, becoming Joshi's first truly all-powerful monster. Unfortunately, 1995 WWF turned her into a bit of a joke. Enjoy this look back at one of Joshi's most important figures. Back My 80's Arcade Book on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/tabl...

The Wrestling Shoot Incidents that Built Shootstyle AND Japanese MMA
I was a 90s kid and had no access to Japan starting wrestling, so a lot of these are new to me, and OMG these are all amazing!! Great picks and even better explanations as to why you chose some not as popular ones. SUBBED
Asians still can't differentiate between reel and real
The Russian Sickle. NIKITA KOLOFF is king...
Liger and Muta were my 2 favorite Japanese wrestlers growing up in 80's and 90's..
As far as the power bomb i think of BIG VAN VADER.
Would it be fair to say Misawa was the leader of the four pillars? Much as that idea might make Kawada’s head explode.
I’m using The Soft Slam as my finisher.
No Scott Norton?
Enjoyed this video - I like your more casual/conversational delivery in this one. Felt like a podcast almost. It’s good to question all of these topics. Even though I personally have Misawa as not only the greatest pillar but the all time GOAT, I have tons of time for anyone who puts Kobashi in that spot or Kawada. Taue… ha, I thought the wave of contrarian “Taue was actually the best!” Opinions on twitter earlier this year were silly but to each their own! It’s all valid. Of all of these, the only one I’m dogmatic about is Cena funny enough. I have never, ever come around on him. I went to so many Wrestlemanias and RAWs where I proudly sang “John Cena Suuuucks, John Cena suuuucks” to the tune of his theme. That was fun.
he clearly has his biases... so you don't need to take everything he says as Gospel... I enjoyed being a wrestling fan not knowing (and minding) his "stars"... but we also need to recognize that his rating is influencial and kinda sus coz it seems like it is just a commercial for matches that he has bias with... Think of him as Ego in Ratatouille...
The Spirit Bomb that Keith Lee gave to Roman was the best power bomb in wrestling history. This is a fact.
Inoki shooting 🤣🤣
Thank you. You do great stuff over here.
The ending had me in tears, happy and sad tears.
I was there in the 3rd row with my dad, on the side facing where Joe did the dive to the outside. Great match, great show too.
The Big Egg Wrestling Universe 30th Anniversary
4:37 not the random select button in Fire Pro 😅
How the fuck you gonna main event korakuen hall your debut match?????????
Today is the 30th anniversary of The Big Egg Wrestling Universe I’ve seen all from 1980-Now
51:38 An ultra-rare sighting of Toshiaki Kawada smiling...
Border Toss is not a powerbomb. More of a Razor's Edge, which again, is NOT a powerbomb.
What does gwatest mean or gwecko. Pwoperwey. Weswer.
Never been a big fan of finishers where the opponent obviously helps pulling it off
Kinda related to the topic of the original video, I recently found out that Superstar Bill Dundee wrestled in Japan, for WING Japan in early 90s. However, there is only one match available from his time there. So that's another big name that wrestled in Japan for a bit, though he is def not as big of a name as Backlund, Taker or Kane.
Ah yes, that woman that Vince Russo brought into to bury
You know, Kim, there's one Japan-exclusive PS2 game you could've included in this video. Online Pro-Wrestling, which is made by Yuke's and is basically a reskin of Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth, complete with lawyer-friendly wrestlers.
Stunning commentating, shades and vibes of EPL.
My favorite Keith Lee Spirit Bomb is his match on the indies against Johnny Silver. Johnny gets friggin AIR on that bomb!
Kobashi in WWE for a few special matches would’ve rocked. Angle, MAYBE Lesnar if he stayed, maybe even a nice shot against HBK
Love this retrospective of "The Unsinkable Battleship"....Great job. Idea...next do Hiroshi Hase "The bridesmaid never the bride"...Has a nice ring to it....🤔....😎👍🏾
Awesome bomb master ,,,,,, Psycho syd e Kevin Nash,,,,,,,,e la last ride powerbomb di taker,,,,,,border toss ,e razor edge
excellent job, Kim.. 🙏 👏👏
You could make the argument that in the 1st Kawada vs. Misawa match the Kawadas foot (ankle) was on the ropes on that Tiger suplex. Still a classic match, classic feud and done on a great channel....CHEERS 🍾🥂
I was really into the ring work and din't even realize I was watching 70's work. A very influential and underrated decade in wrestling. Love the video as always!
The greatest thing you can say about Terry Funk is there will never ever be another Terry Funk
Clothesline from Hell is so far and away the best lariat that it really needs it own video.
@16:33 I was at this show!
I learned some brand new to me stuff. Thanks.
Ah yes Oya and his Hairline, how can I forget, very good in ring technician however he was devoid of gimmick until he shaved his head and wrote "bald" in Kanji on his forehead for a few months in FMW. He actually looked better bald than with that potential white windowless van balding mullet look he had.
I’m so glad I found your channel! Been my favorite and go-to this year ❤
Yes! More Otsuka! Alex Warrior FTW!
Maybe it's bc I'm getting older. But the more I see Backlund, the more I love him. It's been a ten year journey of me being charmed by everything he does. Edit: *Mr. Bob Backlund. Showing respect to my elders.
4:32 this is deadlock
The boys were, in fact, back in town
James, Tony, John
Bob is so underrated, his 1992-1996 out of touch crazy heel persona was miles ahead of its time, and thoroughly entertaining. the fact he's strong and tough as old boots is just a facet to his character. Sasuke on the other hand I love for high flying dynamics, and also for having a bit of adverse attitude in the ring (like when he crushed jobber Dirtbike Kid for ruining his masked tourney and trying to make him look stupid) i'm sad to learn Bob has dementia now, which is sad news.
I am completely in favour of an Otsuka video. It would be fascinating to learn about him! And I absolutely love your videos.
6:41 Carl Greco also wrestled as Carl Malenko not Joe Malenko. Joe Malenko was a different wrestler and Dean Malenko’s actual brother. Carl Greco/Malenko was a student of the Malenkos.
Neat!
Yes! Please do a video about Alexander Otsuka! An amazing talent.
If they named it the Puro instead of the Euro, maybe Brexit wouldn't have happened.
Another awesome video. You're doing great work sir
