"Wanna play 21? I got 22. Wanna play Blackjack? I got two of those, too." is probably the greatest thing ever said in a wrestling promo. Even spouting nonsense, Jake is able to say the coolest sounding shit ever.
Everyone gets it wrong that this is a botched promo. It's actually a reference to the other guy having 21 and Jake, being the cowboy, has a .22 caliber six-shooter that says he wins in the end.
It's honestly the drunken delivery that lets him down. He's basically saying "you're risking it all against an armed, dangerous man," which should be a fool-proof threat.
Brilliant documentary. So sad to see Yoko in this state, and Michael Henry did well to take that Samoan Drop, his pacing off the ropes made it work fine. Tully and Jake have done some great work in AEW. As much as I love wrestling I don't imagine I could put a card together, it really is an art. So much respect to Dutch for trying to carry the show as well as he did.

You can dress a pig up in a ball gown but it's still a pig. You were bad at your job during this show. Eat it.
@@mikehenry2425 if you're not the same person with a different account I'd be shocked ...if your an actual person other than one of the worst wrestling referees ever then you should know the truth and stop making excuses.
@@mikescott8903 nobody is making excuses it was the worst pay-per-view of all time you being a mark and all and not knowing the ins-and-outs of the wrestling business let me educate you a little bit number one we were hired to put on a show by a company that didn't know anything about the wrestling business and had certain things that they wanted which we provided number to we were handed a shitshow of an announcer who we had to try to educate in one day number number three in the main event the finished kept changing two or three times during the day and then when neihardt especially didn't want to do the job and Bundy was promised that he was going to get something later on down the line if there was going to be another show he wasn't going to do the job I lost count now as far as Dave dwindle goes the referee none of this was his fault whatsoever he was given a finish that changed in the rain when Jake was fucked up and they wanted to end the show with either a DDT or Samoan drop which neither neidhardt Noor Bundy was willing to take so I had to go out and take it regardless of it being a horrible show none of it was Dave's fault and the last thing I'd like to say there's cooperation between wrestlers in the wrestling business to go over and do jobs if you are refusing to do a job and causing the issue of huge ego or saying you're going back to WWF and everything else like that if you're not willing to do the honors then there is no way you should be involved Bill Stone was naive to the wrestling business I don't hold him responsible for anything to be honest he just didn't know anything it's just the way it is he was trying to capitalize and something was hot at the time and trying to make money off of it we pulled it off the best we could with what he and his production staff wanted
@@mikescott8903 I'm the same person with the same account I have no reason to lie or hide from it Mike Johnson Dave Meltzer in all of them ripped me in the newsletters and at the time but it doesn't matter I wasn't embarrassed I got a nice payday I work with a lot of my best friends and learned a lot from the experience of what not to do later on down the line even though I'm not involved in the wrestling business anymore I'm on the periphery yeah it was a hard and difficult I'm reading and seeing that at the time but life goes on and so should everybody else complaining about it
Hahaha that was such a sneaky move with Rikishi's twin. As much as I've heard about this show over the past 20+ years and all the times I've attempted (and failed) to watch the entire thing, I'd forgotten about that little nugget.
Pleasant surprise for me to find your Wrestling channel. Hope to see some coverage of some British wrestling. Johnny Saint is someone i'd like to see a deep dive into
I watch this every night as I go to bed. Helps me realize that my day could have always been worse. 😂😂😂
I was the fan who Fantasico kicked in the head on the backdrop. Granted, I was 14 and in NYC at the time, but it was still me.
Tommy Rogers' partner in the Fantastics was Bobby Fulton, not Jackie Fulton. Just sayin...great vid as always, Kim!!
Excellent upload of one of the Worst PPVs of all, time! ) I remember reading about it on Meltzers Observer.... now I finally got to see it🙂
Yes ,I said ONE of the worst , as since I was born and raised in Southern California, I had the pleasure
9f seeing Herb Abrams UWF programs. ( the first 4 tapings if my memory is correct) . Yeah, Herb had Cactus Jack, Steve Williams , Terry Gordy and Paul Orndorff to name a few... yet also had Billy Jack Haynes, Sunny Beach , Johnny Ace and Sid Vicious( WHY?)
The Blackjack Brawl was absolutely horrific and I still think it remains on top as the worst.
Maybe watching this again will clear my mind..
At least those guys could move. At least nobody inside the ring was intoxicated. At least they could do moves (yes, even Sid, he can do like three moves including shouting "WHO'S THE MAN", but that's, like, three more than Sheiky could in 1999)
This is great man. I can’t believe I just let an hour go by. Lol I had shit todo…. Oh well. Awesome video bro!
Stan Lane is the only person Ric Flair trained to be a wrestler. And is also allegedly the father of far right figure head Lauren Boebert. Heck of a resume.
That explains a lot, actually.
That rumor of being Laurens father has been debunked.
fAr rIgHt 🤦… the fact that boring, common sense beliefs on small government and basic biology are considered far right in 2023 is absolutely astounding.
@@JarodJoseph"Common sense" "Small government" unless you're a woman or LGBT I guess. Our rights don't count in your "Small government" I guess. PS: biologists, scientists, doctors aka people who know what they're talking about acknowledge that trans people exist. Have always existed. Will always exist. Cope and deal with it snowflake and tell me how taking away healthcare from trans adults or wanting to ban sodomy again is "Small government." Go on and explain that to me as a queer women with trans friends. Go on mate. I'll wait.
"Small government" unless you're a woman or LGBT. "Basic biology" oh you mean like the fact that trans and intersex people exist? As confirmed and backed up by biologists and scientists? Lol is it small government when they ban abortion or try to ban gay marriage or trans healthcare? Lololol obviously priv cishet white male is obvious. P.S. Kim Justice-the person you're watching-is a trans woman.@@JarodJoseph
imagine if this ppv took place 15 years before
Still my favorite review of this spectacular event ever!
1:04:00 shout out to you for choosing the best Jake music as background music
Damn, Jake was plowed at the pretape 🤣
I didn't know Mr Kennedy was in this.
I love your accent etc.... its actually very endearing ! Thanx for the vids brother !
Wait until Biggus Dickus hears of this
Oh please
Quite cool that OSW were able to find the preshow inbetween the time of this.
wow.. thats some sad sh**...
Dude u deserve more subs. this was by far the best retro of HoW ive ever seen.
Got really stoned and stumbled on this video. Definitely gonna subscribe if there's any more content like this
The tornado they used in the video was the 1986 tornado in my home town of Brooklyn Park MN, that caused a lot of damage in B.P. alone and crossed the Mississippi into Fridley and disappeared about 15 minutes later.
Jake: You want to play 21?
My Brain: JEEZUS
What an amazing video. Instant sub
If I recall correctly, Breznikoff was Nikolai's manager in the indie circuit.
@1:52 that's who Mr Kennedy think he is..
This guy sounds like the" do you want to develop an app" guy from Rick and Morty
"Hewoes of Westling"
I love the intro music theme, cheers dude from Moose Factory, ON Canada. There is no word in my native Cree language for good bye, so we say until next time.
1:06:38. The Greatest “shoot promo” almost ever 🤥.
Randy looks like he has the brain of a dehydrated baby, and if you put it in a pigeon it would fly backwards, but hes not a bad guy. Captain Lou classic.
Whats really amazing is how many of these wrestlers are still alive or lived into old age, all of them bar 2 living until their mid 60s. Wrestlemania 15 the same year featured 8 wrestlers that died under the age of 50 ffs.
Incredible documentary, subscribed!
This review is so dam good I had no clue it's hour half Long WOW
Greg Valentine sure had some meaty paws 😂
I belive Captain Lou say.. "He's got the brain the size of a dehydrated bb(ammo for bb gun) if you put it in a parakeet it fly backwards"
I love the way u tell the story and your voice is relaxing love both your channels tnk u for all the videos you have made
I should point out that Sam Fatu was also Tama in the WWF as part of the Islanders tag team with Haku, and later after leaving the WWF, became the Samoan Savage as part of the Samoan SWAT Team in WCW and many independent promotions.
"You get to the top by your body count"
Sherri ain't lying
@thewrestlingroad do you have an older of different channel? I watched everything here today an loved it an would really enjoy seeing more of your content.
Thanking you.
When Kim talks about being in school when Austin was active 😬. I was in my 20s by the time Stone Cold was a thing. Damn it I'm even "old" where retro is concerned
If you can reupload that misawa video, that would be amazing.
I think that's only available to Patreon subscribers at the moment.
Commercial:"this event will be comparable to a natural disaster which destroyed the country"
Damn he Was on point...bad taste but on point
So glad you re uploaded this. Your video on the heroes of wrestling ppv is by far the best one and so full of factual information others seem to get wrong. I remember watching this garbage ppv live (didn't pay for it though) and it was a clusterf*ck
I really enjoyed this video, thanks. New subscriber
