Such a pretty car. I've driven 308s and 328s, both great. The looks, feel, sound. I've had a Ferrari in the garage for more than 14 years now. Still special, always will be. Invest in an open gate, manual Ferrari if you can. You won't regret it. They will never be made like this again.

From a time where there were no multi-layered CPUs "interpreting" and "interfering" with the driver's inputs. These were purely mechanical times so it was from you, to the controls, to the road. This car would feel engaging in a crowded car park.

Great video Pete, as you know and I have mentioned before, the 308 GTS is my all time favourite car, but I would have to have one with the 3 black grills on the front and obviously wins between the two hands down, I'm also going to 50 this year actually next month, so growing up watching all the iconic car shows in the 80's especially Magnum ( Airwolf was my personal favourite ), which is where I fell in love with the 308, and you can't forget about the best 80's car film The Cannonball Run, hopefully one day I will at least get to sit in one let alone drive one

I feel the same way about the 308. It's one of my favourites. It may not be the best Ferrari but it's the first supercar I saw regularly on telly and when you think all we were seeing was MK4 Cortina, Escort, Metro, Maestro etc it was very exotic.

I adore both cars. They on my dream garage list. I loved Magnun P.I. with Tom Selleck (not the reboot). In period interviews, Tom said he was too tall for the 308 (although some other Ferrari's from that era fit him fine). They always had to film with the targa top off so Tom could have a little extra head room. I believe they had to take some of the padding out of the drivers seat too and thus, it wasn't too comfortable.

I too came across the 308 charms watching Magnum PI in the mid eighties. For me its the body styling and looks. It has very good mechanical designs, example double wishbone, independent all round suspensions with disk brakes. Just the awkward sitting position. Wished one day I could own one 308GTB. Regarding the injection versions we cannot really call that an injection system, its more a continuous mechanical fuel sprayer in the inlet manifold! It was more readily available on the market I suppose and easier to work with!

Should have driven the GT4 which was the true successor to the original Dino and was also sold as a Dino (not a Ferrari). Its 255hp engine, longer wheelbase and better seating and diving position made for a better road car which feels better linked to the original Dino in flavour. Every GTB I`ve driven, including the early ones with supposedly the same power feels blunted and the handling not as taut. Seating/driving position also not as good as the GT4 for this 6` 2" ex rugby player either. Maybe, just maybe the GTB holds a small advantage in the looks department but when the two cars are side by side in the real world most crowds are 50/50 as to which is best looking.

Actually the true successor to the 246 Dino was the GTB. It's design was completed in the early 1970's but production was delayed because they had quality issues with the fiberglass body (something they never were able to completely solve) There is a picture of the prototype GTB and it had a landscape oriented indent on the nose indicating that it was originally intended to be badged as a Dino but by 1976 they had abandoned the Dino brand. The GT4 was the predecessor to the Mondial which they continued to build through 1993.
