I didn't like any of the vegan mayos that are sold. Learned to make it myself (I'm a culinary dunce, so it *has* to be easy). The mayo I like best is based on clabbered soy drink or clabbered soy and aquafaba. Just the aquafaba doesn't work well for me.
I'm like 99% sure this is the best video you've ever made. every single video is better than the last and it's so impressive and I'm so proud of you 😭 also your voiceover + the music in this video is extremely relaxing and comforting lol
I just discovered you! I am obsessed and going through all your videos. Also enjoy both of you together...super cute couple. Can't wait to try some of these ASAP. :)
If you want to avoid mushy tofu you should throw your tofu in the freezer after you come home from the store. Then take it out and thaw with water or in the microwave whenever you need it. After that you can just press it with your hands and it'll let so much water out without falling apart. The freezing process totally changes the tofu's texture, it firms up and becomes more chewy/meaty and sort of chicken-like. This method makes the tofu lose a lot more water than the pressing method.
What about people that are allergic to nuts? What do the allergic people do to get protein? Do they have a vegan protein drink that has no nuts in it that allergic people can drink?

I would really appreciate an entire video of vegan sushi recipes, I've never made sushi before but I'm going to try pretty soon. I was just going to do avocado and carrots, but that spicy vegan crab looks incredible!
Really excellent video. Not vegan myself but have been following you for years (since the tomato mock-salmon video!) regardless because your use of spices, your kitchen know-how, and your fearless attempts at SO many different techniques are inspiring to me as a home cook. Loved the production quality of this as well!
I'm with you. Just Mayo made the best everything. Even my non vegan friends and family loved my potato salad. Then they started concentrating on their vegan egg products. Which I love but are priced too high. They say you can mail order the mayo but it's in those tiny plastic bottles that you have to cut open to get it all out and are priced ridiculously high. Thanks for your video.
thank you for making ACTUALLY unique fresh recipes!!! theres so much of the same stuff over and over in vegan food content. definitely going to try most of these
Not only do these recipes look amazing, but this video was beautiful! I could also listen to your voice all day, so soothing. You are so talented and inspiring!
drooling this entire video!!!! so excited to try the egg salad !! as a 30 yr old who has been a veg for 15 yrs this is the one flavor/dish I miss the most!!! thank you sososossoooooo much for this feel good tutorial !
I can't wait to give these recipes a try! I am especially excited to try using a cheese grater next time I use tofu in a recipe...genius! I agree with Eric, your voice-over along with the background music is very relaxing; you have been doing an amazing job producing your videos.
Your videos inspire me to get out of my rug and try new things! I'm so excited to make the spicy tofu salad sushi! One thing ~ you make so many amazing things ~ why don't you make your own vegan mayo? It takes literally minutes, is super cheap, and tastes so much better than anything I have ever tasted out of a jar ~ vegan or not. I cook down the aquafaba from a batch of chickpeas and use it along w/ oil, Dijon mustard, salt, some kind of acid (lemon juice, vinegar, pickle juice, etc.).
Thank you very much! Always looking for more tofu recipes as I need to get more protein in for weight training. These look super easy so it'll help loads. Appreciate the content, keep it up 👍
Thank you very much! I just recently began my vegan journey and recipes like this give me a lot of confidence that I don’t need meat, eggs or dairy in order to be creative. Thanks again!
I never thought of grating the tofu - I'm stealing that idea! Also, I love the high protein tofu, i's my #1 go-to tofu for stir frys or marinating for salads. Great recipes!
I love your tofu lettuce wraps so much. I have seen tofu with the chili garlic oil and never tried it- I might have to now. It really looks delightful.
Great video, Sarah! This was especially calming with the music and lighting. Also, the way you cut the silken tofu was pretty. I love silken tofu with white rice so that looks so good - will be making it soon
This video is so beautifully shot and relaxing to watch! You have always had calming videos but this was on another level ❤ would love some more vegan sushi ideas!
That egg salad sandwich looks so nostalgic! I don't know why I'm such a stickler for buying only whole wheat bread. I think I'm going to buy a soft loaf of white bread next week and make this egg salad! Love your high-quality videos and recipes.
I've gone vegan a few times in my life (for more than a year at a time), and lately with all the stuff about cloned meat, and even fake meat (I don't want to know from where), I think I'm about to make this a permanent transition this time. Your videos are giving me so many realistic ideas, thank you for sharing your knowledge.🥰
I absolutely love you and your inspirational recipes!!! Your presentation, knowledge, and attitude are exceptional! I’ve been plant based for a long time and you encourage me to be better. Any cookbooks in the future? Oh please?🥰😘💝😎
These all look so good and something new to try. I pretty much live on tofu so I'm always in need of new recipes. I hear you on losing Just Mayo, though. I had a jar ONCE and it was the best vegan mayo I've ever had, now it's gone.
❤ all your videos and would love a dedicated vegan sushi one. I’m actually in my binge watch all Sarah Vegan Kitchen videos era 😂. So ironic this posted 🤗.
Just found your channel. 🤩 I have always loved traditional salmon sushi, but lately that is even waning out of my taste pallet. Gradually turning vegan. Not on purpose, but just what my body is craving. It's odd, but no complaints. I cannot wait to try all of these recipes! Thank you for taking the time to share.
I LOVE your channel! You always help me resolve my temporary meal/cooking dilemmas, lol! As always, these Tofu recipes are so great because they are not too challenging - except the "sushi", that will take some practice. Thank you❣
Within seconds just the images of the recipes in use gave me so much inspiration! I don't typically mind sushi as fish isn't a big concern for my diet but I would love to see some more vegan sushi recipes since handling raw fish at home is still a big concern for me.
Dear Sara, I made the crab salad sushi. It’s was delicious! Despite my being too lazy to put the rice on the outside. Next time. I was wondering if you’ve ever experienced chewy nori. I don’t like it. Any ideas or hints?
Excellent video! Not a vegan, but on a doctor supervised post surgical diet. Only white chicken or turkey, fish/seafood or tofu. Tofu is the least expensive and I can have herbs and spices, as long as not too spicy or salty. That still leaves a lot of choices. Thanks for these great recipes ~ Diane

Wonderful recipes! Thank you. One very good way of making tofu more firm and chewy is to freeze it. Just leave it in its original packaging, freeze it overnight and then let it thaw, either naturally or by immersing it in hot water, which you can replace a few times. Then do the usual pressing or squeezing to get the water out & cook as normal. It works really well, although it obviously means a little bit of advance planning! (Oh....of course you leave it in its packaging if you're immersing it in water!)
Thank you for this video, Sara! Inspiring recipes which look easy enough to make. This is the first video I watched from you, RUclips suggested when looking for healthy vegan food. Just looking for options as my health went nuts and vegan food really helps. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Oh mi goodness, I ❤ you 🤗 I’m a tofu newbie 😊 made my first tofu dish 2 weeks ago, crispy tofu, and have been addicted since, but I’m still learning the basics, brands, and types. Extra firm and Super firm are the only 2 I’ve seen in my local ACME. I’m headed to H-Mart this weekend to load up in my freezer. I really want to make your tofu egg salad and lettuce wraps. The "egg salad" is life changing! I don't have a press, so I just pressed out some moisture with my hands. I don't like the idea of eating tofu uncooked so I fried the "white" part for a few minutes in avocado oil, adding some salt. I then fried the "yellow" for a few minutes and I took your advice to add a bit of tumeric to make it more yellow. A bit of garlic is also nice. I added homemade vegan mayo (made with aquafaba). It is delicious!!
I was just going through your old videos and wondering if I’d see you again soon. Here you are! Greetings and thanks for more yummy recipes as always, Sarah.
I have some poblanos and tomatoes from the garden, and left over chipotle peppers just sitting in the fridge. I know what I’m making for dinner! Thank you, these recipes sound incredible!
I made the chili garlic tofu tonight and ate it with some brown rice. I am half-Korean and had to make it due to it being similar to something that my mom makes all the time. This was so good! The tiny town that I do my grocery shopping in does not have silken tofu anywhere so I had to use firm tofu but it was delicious. I will have to share with my mom. She is super picky and mostly eats Korean food but I just know yhat she will love this dish. My omnivore husband loved it. Looking forward to making the other recipes.
Thank you for the sushi recipe, I can't wait to try it! I can recommend to use some cling film for the rolls with the rice outside. You basically have some cling film on the mat, then spread your rice and everything else. Once you are done you roll it and place it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, once out of the fridge I'm usually able to peel the cling film off and the sushi stays together😊
I second the comments about the quality and vibe of your video! I have a question…I’m moving into my own place soon and want to start cooking more while trying to keep my kitchen essentials to a minimum. I noticed you use a chef’s knife or nakiri, and a gas or induction burner depending on the recipe. If you wouldn’t mind, could you please share your reason(s) for using one over the other in certain cases? Thank you!
I think this is the first time I have seen one of your videos. Nice. You have a nice gentle voice and manner, and it lends itself to satisfactory explanations. Makes one want to make your dishes, or at least it does me, so I will. Hope to get to several of these over the next week.
I just wanted to say I've been watching your content for years and you deserve so much appreciation for being consistent, thorough, and always delivering on well rounded delicious recipes! Thank you ❤
Definitely trying all of these! I usually make tofu scramble then cool it before adding mayo for egg sandwiches but I’m trying your version as it has no precooking(also I add black salt for that sulphur eggy taste) ✨💕
My favorite vegan mayo was Vegenaise but I haven't seen that around in a while. I think that the Simple Truth one is pretty good if you have a Kroger store near you. That silken tofu with the chili sauce looks amazing! I saw another of my fave RUclipsrs make it and it looked interesting, but you make it look soooo good! I'll have to try that one! I'm so jealous of your big kitchen window. One of the reasons I stopped making videos was because of the terrible light in my kitchen and it's so small that putting lights in there just makes it really crowded and hard to get around. I hope you are loving your new home in Vancouver. Wish you had moved to Colorado Springs instead!
Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before (I loved the video if you couldn't tell)

This video is going to help me bring tofu meals to my family. The lettuce wraps and the "egg" salad sandwhich recipe are brilliant.
I would 100% love to see more vegan sushi recipes 😄
Grating Tofu is always great! You can never have enough tofu recipes
Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before
(I loved the video if you couldn't tell)
I made the sofritas! OMG it was so good. I roasted my poblano first but wow so good. Please more tofu recipes ❤
Love to hear it!
Thanks to your videos, I'm cooking more again and I've finally learned how to prepare tofu deliciously
