Sadly, so many people in this country (including Bill Maher) are misinformed what the 1st amendment actually states and its scope.
It's kind of a pointless statement given that people don't agree on what's true all the time and not everything that's true can necessarily be proven. That's why we have free speech and it isn't free if it can only exist when everyone agrees.

Alex brought this on himself by not respecting the authority of the courts. Its not the law only for thee and not for me. Its for everyone.

For everyone saying he didn't get due process and that this isn't legal for the judge to have found him liable without a jury trial, this is a civil case, in which the plaintiffs sued him and he refused to go to court, he refused to answer summons, and he refused to hand over discovery, therefore on the final day when he didn't show up again, he was found liable by default.
When I divorced my ex, I was so scared that he was going to fight me about custody but he didn't show up. So I got everything I asked for by default. That's how it works. It's on him, no one else, he's not some kind of martyr, he's a guy who would not participate in the legal action taken against him because he's a narcissist who doesn't believe he did anything wrong with these lies even though HE KNOWS these are lies!

That's exactly the issue, he was never proven liable. Default judgments get thrown out all the time in appeals. That's how it works.

I actually am starting to believe that the families might be exploiting their dead children to become rich because they have basically just gone and sued anyone and anything they possibly can for INSANE amounts of money but made absolutely no attempt to go after the Lanza family or officials that ignored the threats put out by Lanza. It's not the prosecution closing argument. Prosecutors represent the People in a criminal trial against an entity person or company that violates a Criminal Statute. It is a Tort Lawsuit wherein one party or multiple parties namely the Plaintiff(s), brought a suit against another or parties namely the is Defendant(s) because of injurious action(s) on the part of the Defendant, for any reasonable person in his or her right mind should have known that such action(s) can be injurious to the victim aka the Plaintiff person and or dependent(s) and or property and or reputation.

@@jph77 I think when there is a monetary judgment against someone who generates millions per year, they should be given a portion of their earnings to live on and every other penny goes to paying the person with interest until paid in full. They should also have their finances monitored until the judgment is paid in full to be sure they aren't diverting funds or underreporting their actual earnings to avoid paying. He should not be able to go on with a lavish lifestyle while his debt goes unpaid.

The prosecutors in this case are incredibly strong. I wonder if AJ would be able to say he had ineffective counsel because his attorneys did so many things wrong in this case (i.e. giving the prosecution AJ's phone contents and just not strong in his defense). I do not know what the outcome will be but personally I think he needs to be held accountable for what he said about those children.
