    The Mitsubishi Shogun is a great all-round off-roader and practical 4x4 - but it doesn't get the praise it truly deserves.
    The Shogun features all the winning qualities you would associate with an off-roader, from spaciousness to comfort.
    However, with competition from the likes of Land Rover, standing out in the 4x4 market can be tough.
    So we took the Shogun for a spin to see whether it can really take on some of the markets 4x4 greats.

    Turbo diesel. Direct injection. Tows 3.5 tonnes. Dependable and honest. Great value. On my second for nearly 16 years.

    I have owned 10 now ranging from the very first 3.2did 2001 right up to 2015 and Tow a large trailer every day as im a car dealer! All i can say is,is that i have NEVER experienced a mechanical breakdown in any way shape or form,the only thing that did happen was the front windscreen wiper spindle and rod separated,all i did was drill and bolt in job done! They are fast well equipped and will tow at silly speeds,and are not bad on fuel...i average 22 mpg towing a big trailer and car! Without a trailer it will do up to 36 mpg...beat that! You must buy an Automatic version as i believe you would never want a manual 4x4 to tow with....Undoubtedly the most reliable big 4 x 4 out there!

    pajero is a solid vehicle and the best in its class especially for off-roading. I drove it across countries in a week of 5000kms with 0 issues. I drive in stock car, and changes tyres and shocks/bushes every 2 years (due to my driving style :) ). Last year i tried ironman shocks without lifting. the car has crossed 600.000 kms and still doing good. Very comfortable in long journey. And excellent safety features in par or superior to land cruiser. The automatic transmission and the engine is pretty solid... and the very reason they still manage to sell this product almost after 10 years of its launch shows how good this make is.

    He never really considered this a viable competitor for the discovery 😂😂
    Seriously! The discovery has been worse than the shogun as far back as I can remember 😂

    Don't agree that the Shogun isn't refined on the road it and the Pajero are beautiful to drive on or off road. He's right about one thing ability on very snowy roads, best I ever drove on bad roads unstoppable. You feel totally safe.
    Reliable second to none.

    Thanks for the reply - and I agree, it manages to offer a great balance, which some 4x4's lack unfortunately

    The Shogun as its called in the UK Pajero in Australia is a great car. Being Australia these cars go off road just as much as on the Tarmac. It is still one of Australia's favourite SUVs. It's a dam good car.

    Great shots, great angles, great detailing, great car choices. Maybe you could focus a little bit more on some aspects like off road tests in this case in particular. Nevertheless y like your reviews more than auto express and thats a big thing! For some ideas you can check Rosenthal Automotive's channel. He has AWESOME reviews as well.
    Cheers!

    I have never found any 4x4 to come close to the shogun tried the range rover for 2 years nothing but problems tried the discovery for a year show it some water and mud it goes wrong repeatedly hilux snapped the chassis and shit gearboxes like no tomorrow have a fleet of shoguns that tow every day start first time every time and the l200

      Plant fitter Mobile Repair about 3 years ago I would have argued till I was blue in the face about how land rover make the best 4x4s in the world but a freelander a discovery and two range rovers later I wouldn't touch them with a 10ft pole. Reliability and build quality don't seem a land rover core value and the price they are commanding is insane. Shogun will be my next purchase and I can't wait till then

      @@markjackson7650 Hope you managed to get one before LWB production ceased, Mark. I just managed it , finding a two seat five door, for work van type. Loving it so far. I think there might be a few short wheel base examples around, but they don't seem to have much room . I had quite a few Early Discoveries, but couldn't justify the price of the new cars in 2017.

      Coldn't agree more, Plant. A very capable and comfy tow car. The large diesel engine can just pull all day and never breaks sweat. Old school engineering does it , I guess, and the designers got it right from the beginning.

    Hmmm, I am not sure to be completely honest, but if it is it will go by the name Mitsubishi Pajero - just like in the USA. May be worth asking Mitsubishi themselves?

    I'm having a nightmare with my L200 Barbarian which is only on 28,683 miles. It was serviced by Fownhope Mitsubishi in Hereford back in April 13th this year when the mileage was 26,437. At the time it was due a service which they did along with the MOT and there was also a Mitsubishi recall notice to preview a potential overheating problem by doing a ECU update and changing the radiator cap. Prior to the ECU update the engine was tested by Fownhope Mitsubishi in Hereford to see if there were any underlying problems and they tell me the engine was given a good bill of health!
    We are now three months down the road with a mileage of 28,683 the head gasket has blown leaving me three months out of warranty and without a vehicle. My L200 for me represents a very expensive Mitsubishi paper weight and I don't seem to be getting anywhere fast with Mitsubishi Europe and the technical team! Does anyone have any thoughts before I spend out on another vehicle? #Mitsubishi ‬

      @plantfittermobilerepair9125 7 лет назад +1

      I don't believe a word of it have run l200 have 7 of them and 4 shoguns never had a days trouble with any of them not once never heard of anyone having trouble come to that your the first

    • @eddieveness9665
      @eddieveness9665 7 лет назад +1

      Well you can believe it or not lol. It was a fair time ago and the problem occured after a service when the ecu was updated by Mitsubishi to prevent a known problem with overheating. The vehicle blew the head gasket. The good news at the end was that Mitsubishi accepted responsibilty, provided me with a free replacement vehicle whilst they replaced the engine at no cost to me. Had it been anything to do with me and the way I treated the vehicle I have no doubts that I would have had to pay. The work was carried out by Bayhorse Mitsubishi in Hereford and I have had absolutely no problems with the vehicle since. In fact it has been perfect!!! It was very worrying at the time because I was looking at a massive bill had I had to pay for the repair myself. Maybe I was just unlucky, but they seemed to know exactly what was wrong and why it had occured, so what more can I say!
