Im totally blown away by the beginning where you're packing your stuff up. I almost don't believe my eyes. Ok I got to the part where you said those were abandoned, what an awesome find. Then getting to ride 1st class the entire video. So damn cool.
Hi George, i'm your trucker friend who has been watching your videos for a long time. All the swearing and cussing makes you sound like a real trucker l o l. Keep up the good work.
Some days you eat the bear.....and some days the bear eats you. Thanks for sharing both sides. Your drone footage of the yards brings back memories of the '60s in Army Intelligence School where we learned how to target rail yards for the most effective bombing. Happy hops!
21:00 onwards.... does anyone else find the low roar of an EMD incredibly soothing? Makes me want to sleep. One of your best trips ever, I revisit this one a lot
I've driven that a few times myself. The last time I was eastbound and just made it over Cabbage without chains on as the snow was piling up. The chain law went into effect after I was headed down! I had a KW-700 I loved. It was late 2007 if I recall.
Those are areas where crops like alfalfa are grown. There is a type of irrigation system known as a center pivot where a giant sprinkler system gradually rotates around the circle you see. The pivot is located in the center of the circle and water is pumped into the pivot system and is sprayed through sprinkler heads located along the pivot arm. The arm rotates because of motorized wheels on it. Center pivots are a common type of irrigation method used in many of the western states.
Aw I was hoping to see Baker Valley! Darkest hours of the night got me again! lol Do you have any vids of passing through La Grande and Baker Valley? I haven't found many train rider vids of that area on YT
It's an intermodal train type that carries double stacked containers. I think it might actually be a brand name one of the railroads uses for their container service that is now the generic term for stacked container trains.
I had a really shitty day today, and this video just made it better, before I lay my head down and close my eyes for the night. Thanks
You are normally such a positive person that it sounds funny when you drop “F-bombs”. LOL.
That's me, talking to myself, lol.

Yessss! So happy about this re-upload! On of my favorite videos and series!

Always cool. Same age. Thumbs up.
Don't know why I don't get the notices anymore. But I found you this icy morning in the Ozarks and you made my day being inside the house. Thanks
I think we might get some ice today too!
A great watch.
Cool !
I’ve always wondered what it looked like from the rails having driven 84 dozens of times.

I don't understand why the railroad doesn't routinely lock up the power units. What's the advantage of leaving them open to potential riders?
They're usually locked.
Curious what are those big green circles in Hermiston? Grass? Water? What are they for? Thanks for sharing your adventures, really eye opening! ❤

George, the bottom line is, the chicken strips were by far more important, and you know that.
Hahaha, I hope so;)

I don't, but if things work out I will. I plan to ride along the Columbia out of Portland during daylight.
@@Jumpingoffthecliff If you need a place to crash in Baker let me know!
Trip turned out alright after all. How do you know it’s been inspected ?Well done in walking 8 miles.
There's a card on the back wall of the cab where they make an entry with the date and time the locomotive was last inspected.
@@Jumpingoffthecliff thanks, I guess it’s a quick walk through. What are they checking for ? Must be a real pain for the Railroad company.
@@andrewthacker114 it’s very quick. I think they just look for alarms on the screen and give it a quick once over for anything obvious.
@@Jumpingoffthecliff thanks
Can I join you on your train rides I am a expert on those type of things
I prefer to ride alone but perhaps we'll cross paths out there.
Good answer try to ride alone always. We can't trust anyone out there.

Hey can I join you on your train rides I am really good at it
I tend to ride alone. But you never know maybe our paths will cross,
hay is pricey
I know train hoppers have ups and downs, but you did have a downer and you cussed like a sailor.
Yeah, that's how I talk to myself on occasion;)
