Thank you for a well edited and paced video documentary. Sadly many other Italian brands have been in decline too. It looks like the same cultural and geopolitical issues are doing the same to Germany and the rest of Europe. It's sad for those workers and us loyal customers. 😢

I remember their M20 era computers. Expensive and not the best for reliability. I dont think they were very compatible with IBM compatible hardware either. Their motherboards had a lot of jumper wires where someone had done a poor job of designing the circuit board and they had to patch in all the missing bits. Pretty much only government purchased their products where I am in Australia. I purchased many of the ex government Olivetti computers and monitors from a scrap metal dealer in the mid to late 90s and sold on what I could salvage from them, which wasnt much. I think they made the only monochrome VGA compatible monitors I ever saw, with white phosphor screen. Its a shame to see so much of their history being left to rot even if they were never my favorite brand.

13:00 Here you see one of the reasons why Olivetti went down. In 2009 this room full of drawings should have already been a storage somewhere in the basement and all this work should have been migrated to CAD systems. it's a lack of innovation in using their own tech to make processes more efficient.
