    This video was taken from the sand filler hatch of CF7 No. 2600 during a Beach Train run from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to Felton. During the trip, you can enjoy the sound of this CF7's 567 prime mover as it works up the grade from Santa Cruz to Felton. Also check out the views of The Boardwalk and beach as the train departs, street running on Beach Street and up Chestnut Street, Tunnel 5, Highway 1, Powder Creek Trestle, the Highway 9 road crossing, The Arch, The big steel bridge over the San Lorenzo River, giant Coastal Redwoods, and more!

    What an awesome ride.
    Love all the street running!
    Always wanted to live in a house next to a railroad.

    That's an awesome shot from the train. What amazed me was how much street-running the train did getting from the tunnel over to the boardwalk. The industrial parts of Santa Cruz were a little "meh" but the redwoods were downright incredible!

      I remember the good old days when UP used to run on the branch too, sucks that it’s lost all its customers, I’ve heard that they are making a commuter rail line to Santa Cruz

    At 39:20 ... the historic and often-photographed concrete arch!!! This supports the right-of-way along the steep San Lorenzo creek gorge.

    What a gorgeous ride! Is the new halfway siding for running shorter trips from Felton?

    What model of horn does the engine have? It doesnt sound like a normal freight train. I like it

      @@capricapri9756 I think it’s a special quiet horn for all the in town street running being done. I could be wrong though.

    2 things I noticed… No homeless camps on the way up the grade from SC like there used to be… And the new siding at Rincon… Are they going to make a passing track, or just leave it a spur for maybe storage? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanx

    I’m very surprised they are still using those locomotives. Just last October when I was there, the EPA was all over them because the locomotives are not up to date. The locomotives were supposed to cease operations by January 1st 2024. I heard a while ago they got an extension but I didn’t think over a half year later those locomotives are still running.

    Pretty interesting but slow ride. The prime movers are interesting, they sound just like those on the old EMD F7 derived Nohab locomotives that are still commonly used on freight services in Denmark where I'm from.
    Though this service seems awfully slow, especially once outside of the street running segments. I dont see why it couldnt go 30 or even 40 miles per hour through many of these segments.

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  Месяц назад +2

      It sounds like a F7 because it is a converted F7. The track this train is running on will not support faster speed safely.

  • @sardu55
    @sardu55 Месяц назад +2

    Egads. Nice view. But if it went any slower it'd be going backwards. Be nice if these kinds of excursions could go somewhere near the actual revenue speed just to see what it was really like back then.
