(BM & LP) Abandoned Railway - Part 1-

- An amazing 26 miles one way ride in this video (the first part) on the Black Mesa & Lake Powell Railroad, which ceased to operate in August 2019. It was a private electrified railroad that has operated in the north of Arizona. Transporting coal from 78 miles (126km) from Peabody Energy's Kayenta coal mine, to PAGE AZ. the electricity generating plant, The line was built in early 1970 and was the first railroad electrified at 50,000 volts. On this occasion I was alone, without knowing what I could find, wich added more intrigue to this route, but everything went well.
Wow! Beautiful wide open, sunny Arizona. Love it and thanks for the ride!😊
Wow. A great trip! The rails and roadbed look in great shape.
I really enjoyed your journey for 1 hour and 25 minutes, I can't wait for part 2, thank you for sharing this fantastic journey
I am editing part 2 that will also include the 360 camera, to give it a change and see how beautiful the landscape is.
Nice trip Archie! Parched out that way ! Thnk u for taking us !! 👏👏🤘🤘
Concrete ties on an abandoned railroad. Really cool
Looks like a lot of fun.
Bellissimo viaggio 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wish I was there .I love the railroad.
Absolutely amazing journey and find!! Thanks for taking us along! You have inspired me to build my own cart and run the abandoned rails!!
I recall that Trains magazine did an article on the BM&LP electric railway back in the 1970s. Had no idea the line had been shut down and abandoned.
No customer, no RR.
It had one purpose...that was to bring coal from Black Mesa to the power plant in Page. Powered plant was leveled. Serves no purpose now
You're welcome. Thank.
Solo trip this time? What a great stretch of track you found! Loved it. Nice road runner spot, too! Speaking of solos, they are impressive! And completely abandoned! Looking forward to Part 2!
Fantastic trip, Archie! Thank you for bringing us along on your adventures
Looks like they spent some money on the track using concrete sleepers, probably be there for a long time those sleepers are not easily removed without damage, thx 4 the video always nice the outback, B safe
That is some really smooth track.
Nice ride and beautiful video! Looking forward to part 2. Thank you!
🎉🎉🎉 Amazing 🤩😍 journey to the Savage desert 🏜️🏝️ and beyond. I enjoyed it from BANGLADESH. IZAZ RASOOL MOHAN BARIDHARA GULSHAN DHAKA BANGLADESH.
Greatings from Austria ❤❤
Great line, love this,!!!
Great video, thanks for sharing, from Germany
Damn, this railroad is clean! No trees, weeds, or rocks. Like new. 😅
Great way to relax!!
9:29 🎶Road Runner, El Zorrito is after you... 🎶
Enjoyed being along for the ride as always, Archie. Hope that flange was an easy repair.
Awesome ride!!
Beautiful RR... Concrete Ties, Heavy Rail, and Deep Ballast. Plus, the mine was still viable from what I understand. Coal will make a come-back someday - I'm sure of it = unless they replaced the old power plant with nuclear. Then, the RR is screwed.
Say hello to doctor Gordon Freeman and Barney for me.
Gracias Gracias.watching on big screen, from.New Zealand
Thanks for watching!
Cool video dig the silos at the end of the line!
Line still in really good condition
Is perfect!!!
At some stretches I was really expecting a freight train 😂 you never worry?
This is a track speeders dream come true.
@@020Dutchythis one is abandoned, but some have a way you can look and see if the tracks are expecting a train so they don’t hit eachother
Opp😊😊@@archiemoreno
Love your channel Archie!
Muchas gracias para eso, Sr. Moreno.

Fantastic ride. Thanks Archie!
You're welcome. Thank you for joining me on this ride.
Concrete ties!😂
👋👁️👁️👍Grate ride thank you !!
Los aventureiros dos trilhos buena suerte ✋
A Railroad Runner beep beep 😍
It's too bad they haven't incorporated this 26 mile line, into a local transportation hub and built around it, nor found a way to collect tourism dollars with an excursion line.
I would like to do something like that. I am studying it.
Never happen. It's a RR from nowhere to nowhere.
There is too little there, and not enough traffic between points... and very little to see in the flat barren high desert, for 90% of it. I personally love the area, being an AZ resident.. but tourists wouldn't pay for it
Yeeeessss Viva Archie ! From Brazil
Perfect weather for a run. The sky was postcard perfect. I am surprised we didn't see cattle. Thanks for sharing an almost perfect run. If it was perfect it would be boring. Loved the end. Big loop to a mysterious location.
I'm very happy that you liked it, the tracks are perfect, up to the sky like a postcard, I tell you that the rails were hypnotizing and made you sleepy or relaxed you a lot, hahahahaha
@@archiemoreno You know after the one wheel got a little messed up, it was making a clacking noise...Almost like a real old train would make going down the tracks.
Your gonna spoil yourself on such nice track
Tgif great location, great video. Thank you😅
Glad you enjoyed it
The raised rails and sweeping curves remind me of the EMRR only in much better condition. Great video Archie !!

BIP BIP! 😂
Thanks for the ride! Very outstanding!
5:28 I really didn't think it was abandoned until you had to pull your cart over the dirt patch
Saludo "argento" 😉👍.
Es un orgullo para mi!!!
That's the best run you've had in a long time!
coal crusher silo .. Peabody conveyor belt bridge obviously the bridge belt has been removed but if you search it out you can find pics with the conveyor in tact, black mesa mine coal, operated for 46 years, last run late august 2019 .. a restaurant is planned for the top of the silo so it wasn't demolished . . .
Still watching but I'm surprised how great of condition this track is in!
👋👍
I just saw the little road runner you pointed out that thing is fast cause your cart is moving fast
Sad the BM&LP was Shut down When the Power Plant in Page Arizona was Shut down And I think the Electric Locomotives Where Scrapped Sad 😔
Rest in Peace
BM&LP
Awesome Video the long Gone BM&LP Railroad of Arizona
😥😥😥💘💘💘💘❤️🔥❤️🔥💯💯💯💯
I understand that some BM&LP E60C-2s are still operating on the Deseret Powel railroad but I don't know if it is the entire fleet of the previous railroad
With the power plant shut down there is not much need for the coal.
Coal fired power plants are on the way out here in America. May be some other use could be found for the coal depending on the quality of the coal. Sad to see such a nice railroad go to waste. 😔
Don’t you wish they were all in this good of condition?
wow, wood ties then cement ties, in the middle of nowhere
What I find curious, - this was an electrified railroad, yet there are no remnants of the overhead support bases!
They removed everything!!! They were wooden posts in the ground, without a concrete base
@@archiemorenoAre you from that area? Would like to take that trip!
Funny how the sheriff and workers were by the tracks as you drove by probably shot them 😂
Oh ,yes hahahahaha. I think they were surprised and I didn't give them time to react. hahahahaha😂😂😂
Hola, atrevidos excursionistas.
U can install a solar panel on your mini train. Free energy
I bet you get some wicked black widow spiders! 🕷️
Iiiiiiirrrrrruuuuuuu Arriba hombre adelante muchacho kkkkkk😅😅😅😅
Watching from Florida, what’s the top speed. Great video.
45 mph
Awesome video. The line is in great condition. You could post a version with music (like the 360 goat canyon video) for rail fans soothing moments!! Thanks again!
On the return of this trip, which would be part two, it is filmed with the 360 camera and the drone and camera from the front to change a little hahaha, greetings!!
Why are there so many abandoned railway lines in that part of the world?
There are a lot of abandoned mines out there, between the gold rush and the uranium rush there's been a lot of mineral exploration. Most of these railroads were built to carry mining products.
The dry climate also preserves them better than the eastern railroads, making it appear that there are more railroads in the West when actually there are just more surviving railroads. Eastern railroads tend to get buried by plants and soil fairly quickly when left unmaintained.
have you ever come across any old towns from long ago
En otros recorridos ,SI😊
show some
Can you try “Railcart Chasing Metrolink” by using “Mountain Chase” from Horton Hears A Who please? All you have to do is move the Railcart to California.
Ho ho ho 😮
Looks like ribbon rail
Inmenso camino ,el final me dio 😱
Siii muy bueno!! Falta la vuelta
Very Cool 😎 I'm usually good at finding your route on Google Maps/Satellite View so I can follow along but even close inspection of Keyenta Mine and Page I didn't see any tracks 😞 Heh, I guess I should have watched it first and you show me where you are 😉 I've wondered why you don't carry a small whisk broom and maybe a garden trowel for clearing out a road crossing to make your trip back easier .. is it because that would attract attention to the fact that someone is using the rails?
Under 301 views gang
Chạy xe goong trên đường sắt bỏ hoang lâu rồi rất nguy hiểm lỡ phía trước có đoạn đường hỏng là toang luôn đấy 😂
Arriba mandale ya ❤❤
Archiemoreno doesn't need to hear that, he's a highly trained professional
👍👍
Good job ruben I like
