I agree with Pete - The whole thing of holding up mobile phones at concerts really gets on your t***s - Just go a gig, watch and enjoy... Not everything needs to be recorded &/or posted on social media.
I always film at gigs, I love to watch the videos back and holding up my phone and recording literally takes away nothing from the enjoyment of the gig. If anything I get two round of enjoyment - you should try it!
@@JackFlower Maybe not for you but the people around you also paid for their seat so they could enjoy the show without others holding a camera phone up in front of them. Maybe try living in the moment. Take a few pics and put the phone away and just go with it and enjoy the night. It's said that people want a 70 inch tv at home but when they go to a sporting event or a live show they look at everything through a 7 inch screen. Seriously I was at a concert a few years back and the woman in front kept flashing her damn camera all night. Now the guy hadn't done a Cher and changed outfits every song, he was still standing at the microphone. Who the hell needed a hundred pictures pretty much all the same?
The sheer JOY in Lee's face during this episode would light the whole of Guilford for several years. It's contagious! great video idea guys! MORE please
This is glorious. Lee genuinely looks like he’s 14 again. SWW is an incredible album and it lovely to see Bon Jovi getting some proper recognition. Criminally underrated band.
The ‘Young Guns’ one was the JBJ solo effort with Jeff Beck doing the lead guitar. ‘Blaze of Glory’ I think. And the guitar switch over in Dead or Alive, when they play it live, is covered by the keyboard player doing the guitar run down on keys, while Sambora switches to the electric. Quite clever and seamless live. Fab band at that time. Sambora will be recognised more and more as the years go by for his singable solos.
Jon Bon Jovi has no connection to Young Guns. IIRC, the director of Young Guns II wanted to use Dead or Alive, but JBJ persuaded him it wouldn't work lyrically and instead wrote a whole album for the film, including the single Blaze of Glory.
Tim Pierce played ALL the guitars on their first single Runaway I believe it was..so cool! oh and Pete, I had a black Takamine acoustic and I loved it!! lol
Going to a Bon Jovi gig in the 80s always felt like a party. Slippery when wet and New Jersey were fabulous albums, the gigs were epic and Sambora was the reason I first picked up a guitar. I was also lucky enough to take my son to see them at both Milton Keynes Bowl and Wembley Stadium and watch him get the guitar bug too. Watching this was a real trip down memory lane for me, so thanks guys.
I was also 14 in 1986 and I can remember just how awesome this album was...and still is. Every track is superb. Made me pick up the guitar and I'm still strumming those cowboy chords and playing those pentatonic licks today. Great album choice.
I love spending hours in front of my stereo playing records, enjoying the artwork, liner notes, lyrics, and everything else that comes along with that experience. I will show up for every video you make like this!
You really couldn't escape Bon Jovi in the '80s. It was on MTV/Much Music, it was on top 40 radio, in the clubs... At the time, I thought they were pretty good, but I was especially impressed with Bon Jovi's singing. Definitely one of the most iconic, 1-in-a-million singers in rock & roll history.
Great to see this video with Lee and Pete swapping stories but what I loved was seeing Lee being taken back to when he was young and you can see how much enjoyment he had slipping back into the memories of his youth.
Def Lepard Hysteria or ACDC who made who. As for Bon Jovi, best Male duo in rock pop ever. Richie one of the biggest influences for me and guitar and one of the most often forgotten underrated guitarist of all times. Sad they had issues, now Jon's voice is gone. Countless good albums
Please mention Desmond Child!! You Give Love a Bad Name and Livin’ On A Prayer. He had a hand in those songs. One of the songs is a regurgitated Bonnie Tyler song.
Came here to say - you give love a bad name is a reworked version of “if you were a woman” originally performed by Bonnie Tyler - Desmond Child is a legend
@@Ryandavidsmith13Thank goodness someone knows their stuff! I was trying to figure that one out. It’s definitely not fair for me to say a regurgitation. I’m a big fan of Butch Walker and he has talked very highly about Desmond. I didn’t realize that he had such a hold on everything that I loved about writing and music making. He is definitely a staple in my life in music. I hate to say I was late to the game but at least I’m playing now. Thank you for responding!
Hellyeah, my favourite rock album! And I'm a prog guy, mostly. But as far as simple, hard-hitting, genuinely great songs, you can't get better than Slippery When Wet. In a world where people are forgetting how awesome it is to listen to records from start to finish, please do more videos like this!
I love this concept boys, more please! Also, I was about 26 when you were 14 Lee which is pretty close to Jon's age at the time too I think, he's 3 years younger than me.
For Wanted, Richie would finish that harmonizing line with Jon and quickly switch guitars just in time to turn around and dive head first into his solo. Phil X started off doing the same tactic but starting on the 2017 This House Is Not For Sale Tour he would put on his electric he would use and kind of hide it behind his back and put on his 12 string acoustic, only to remove it just before the solo. A bit more simplified and doable since Phil doesn't use a double neck.
Loved this. I was born in ‘66 and think this era of music was incredible. Pete’s call on Reckless is great. Nothing but hits. Others to consider: Hotel California, Back in Black, (Foreigner) 4, Paradise Theatre, 2112 or Moving Pictures…..to name a few.

Wow, this video really brings back some great memories. I graduated from high school in 1986, and I also turned 18 that summer. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing a song from "Slippery When Wet." The first time I saw (relatively unknown at the time) Bon Jovi live was Easter sunday 1984, in Fresno, CA, when they opened for Scorpions. It was one heck of a concert. Bon Jovi also opened for Ratt in the band's early years, and a year later, Bon Jovi was so big that Ratt was opening for them. Bon Jovi was everywhere in the 80's, and deservedly so. They were a great band in their prime.
Richie Sambora's guitar playing on his solo albums is fire. "Who I am" off undiscovered soul is pure gold ..... Also the solo in "Dry county" is mint.....His vocals are also incredible, both with Bon Jovi and his solo stuff, beefed up the bon Jovi stuff for sure!!
