Great to see the Double Hotcake featured here! I got my first Hotcake from Paul back in Auckland in 1978, another one a few years later when the first one got 'borrowed' and then caught up with him to grab the Double (actually, it's a Triple!) a few years back. I think at one point pretty well every Kiwi guitarist had one! 😃
@@StratTones I love it. It's actually set up for wet/dry/wet, but my AC30 is not turning on right now, I'm hoping it's just a fuse. I have no clue how to fix amps. But even with the AC15 and the 5e3 (I should clarify. it's a boutique 5e3 made by Clark amps, not an actual Fender Deluxe - I wish) as sort of a wet/dry setup, it's sweet. I say sort of, because I still have a memory man delay going to the dry signal. I just like what that does to the sound overall. My memory man is always on for the preamp sound. But I have another stereo delay for the wet side. My AC15 and 30 are both the HW60th versions with a very vintage spec including silver bell Celestion speakers - that I can directly blame these guys here for my purchase. They did a video on both with Pete and Ariel Posen a while back on these amps and it sold me instantly. I negotiated great deals on both (not with Anderton's, but here in the States).
Hiwatt amplifiers were also used by Pete Townshend in the late 60's through a good part of the 70's in live shows and you can hear that gainy soaring crunch in the HI Power pedal. Also pretty funny how similar they sound another episode of JAFOD lol except the HI power the ambient echo was pretty cool too.
Pete nodding off during Lee’s description of the free the tone pedal was very funny but also a very accurate representation of my mind shutting off when theres too many options on a piece of gear. Don’t get me wrong, I like options - I have a HX Stomp which of course has an ocean of options, but there’s definitely something about having your options whittled down to just a few essentials and discovering what those few options are really capable of.
That's one of the ways Maynard from Tool, Perfect Corcle, etc. creates- he restricts himself to one piece of gear- usually an older, analogue synth- and he says it forces him to be more creative. Whatever he does, it works- he comes up with some really good, but off the wall stuff and is one of the most successful musicians of our time. Unbelievably prolific when you think about all the different bands he's in- and he's the lead vocalist, so he has to contribute a ton to each release.
Love the Joshua ! With the Joshua, BigSky and Cloudburst one could easily ethereally bliss themselves to death ! A 10K pound Strat ? Oh the absurdity !
That Deuce Coupe in the effects loop might push the output nicely. The Joshua sounds like it tries to be answer to the Halo. I’ll keep my Halo. It’s fantastic!
Question: Can we have a bass version of this? Dirt, Octive, Filters, etc. There have been some good ones recently and lots of changes to who or what is out there since 2020-2022. Plus, yes I understand bass can use any guitar pedal - but the low end etc. Cheers for the video, thanks for putting them out!
I love to watch an Anderton's upload for a bit of light relief from the harsh realities of life.. But have to be honest. Just one sight of those pedals and I started to fall asleep but then .. again that strat is amazing.
Not sure when you'll ever give away that clon, the subcriber count might be going down. How about giving away a victory amp and Chapman guitar at 900k. Cheers!
OK ... its a hobby ... so money ain't that much of an issue and reasonability ain't either Having/possessing a couple of boutique boxes can be something ... esp. for a collector ... and they look more divers on the wall mount than a couple of BOSS pedals Its having a lot of "miniature paintings" versus a Roy Lichtenstein "32 Campbell's Soup Cans". Both can be fun
A friend asked me, over a year and a half ago, what overdrive he should buy. Had he asked me that question 20 years ago, I would have had an answer. I said something like: Go to the "music district" of Pigalle in Paris (he lives around Paris), and try everything you can, then pick one up. (the sh*ttiest answer ever) There are just TOO MANY of these toys, most of them based on the exact same circuit architecture with very little "flavor changes". I'd go to a music store with a friend, pick a handful of these toys in a peculiar price range, then ask my friend to switch from one pedal to another without telling me which is which, and chose one that's not too "noisy" and OK for the job ... AND INEXPENSIVE.
Overdrive is amazing, depends what kind of music you play... Overdrive great for Blues or Rock 80s 90s ...for Rhythm at Bridge position and Solo at Neck position JCM 800.. awesome!!!! Overdrive is Universal..
One suggestion. Y don't you try such pedals in diff range of guitars. Like Here , you are using custom shop master built. U should also try the same with Mexican till master built atleast last few minutes with same riff.
What? How can 'breakup" be ''70s"? It's either breaking up or it isn't. On those terms, amps haven't changed since the '40s. Almost every OD designed in the modern day are based almost all on '70s designs anyway, which makes them, I guess, timeless. Anyway, an enjoyable video.
I love your videos, but if you don't plug a humbucker guitar in after the single coil strat, these demos are only useful to a portion of your audience.
Because the world needs another overdrive pedal!!!
Yes. There are never enough. Never enough.
@@nickolasecker9596 Absolutely correct. I even have broken ones.

The hotcake is my main overdrive. I have an old one from the 80s and it's my sound into a vox ac (and split into a tweed deluxe). Great overdrive.
@@joeschlichtthat’s a heck of a dual amp rig🙌

We need Andertons TV - Uncensored
Its on Andertons onlyfans site...
yes... who knows what he described "juice" as that was so explicit??? haha
I love this channel, there’s a great charisma between you two guys ☘️

that hotcake sounds fantastic!
The 100W was the Hiwatt DR103, the 50W was the DR504. The colour sound power boost is the “pedal” on the right hand side of the HiPower pedal. 10:02
What had Iommi? Do you know?

Yes he had\has, but i ment the model of Laney amps he prefered. There is lots of different Laney amps.
@@PXR5-PXR5 I would guess at the DR103, 100W. But I think he did use Laney amps.
Hilarious edits on Pete today!
Loving the black and white theme in the studio 🤩
Hotcake sounds incredible into an AC30
right, if you have a Vox and think the drive pedals sounds a bit meh, get a Hotcake!
Yes, it does, indeed
thanks for the demo of the Deuce Coupe.
Came to see the pedals… could not stop checking out that Strat. That’s beautiful.
Pete playing Mahavishnu Orchestra was appreciated!!!
Yes Mr. Pete. That strat I'd Magnificient. Sounds crazy
Those pedals back to back made me laugh out loud. So similar!

Double Hotcake went straight into ZZ Top Just Got Paid tone. Awesome.
Mr Black's pedal for me.
Joshua is lush and versatile! The overdrive dumble style silver one is great
No they can´t! OD pedals have been done to death! I wonder just how many OD pedals there are on the market? 1000? 5000? More than 10 for sure 🙂
The Hi Power through a DR103 with a Strat. 😍😍😍😍 I'm an unapologetic Gilmour fan. The MXR Joshua pedal would go well with the Strymon Cloudburst.
Man that Strat sounds good.
Again, whoever edited this video, probably had some fun. I admit I had too watching it. 😁
how are you supposed to tell someone if your hotcake pedals are selling extremely well
I've got a first generation weehbo handwired jcm drive. It also has two gain stages. It's on my board forever.

Pete is a must on these videos. Don't lose him.
I personally wish he would just shut up.

I think the Joshua pedal is a play on the Joshua tree album by U2

0:23 either petes chairs shifted or the dB meter has shifted. Greatly pleased
Loving the humour in the edit!
The ODL-1 is a sleeper hit in my opinion! Haven't seen much talk about it
Unimpressed with the Joshua, really dug the little Deuce Coupe!
Fab tones and edit based buffoonery. Thank you.

I think the studio is a bit too dark now, it's like you sitting under a dark cloud. Thunderstorm ahead?
Oh, and your head are merging with that cloud 😁
Deuce Coupe is a 32 Ford Hot Rod
I really want a hot cake (single pedal version) now.
The new look and layout of the studio is excellent! Nice color choices, looks very chill.
Are you joking, right? Check the comments on their first video in that studio. Honestly I'm out. It's too hard on the eyes. Sorry chaps
Oops, I forgot to base my personal opinion off the comment section………..

You guys gotta get your mitts on the Silktone OD+
Pete hitting us with that Home Depot theme song riff at the beginning 😂
i cant believe they called it the Double Hotcake instead of the Shortstack
The Hi power sound like a fuzz face guitar volume back
One word comes to mind after this episode: Spanky!
26:52 is genius and when the joshua wakes pete up and he starts fiddling with nobs
Hi Power pedal eat them all !!
It's so funny when Pete gets this horrible look on his face then says, that's great man! 😂
Pete's annoyance at his contact lenses gave him the look of every dad listening to their teenager's music.
OMG the Danish Pete Laugh Edit ***************************************** LOL!!!!!!!!!!
Not listening true phone but on an Harmon Kardon amp with Mission speakers ,so it's a great sound...

The Thorpy Scarlett Tunic was designed to cover the Selmer Treble & Bass 50, however it was given a Hiwatt and Vox AC30 tones too
Great thumbnail caption! But then, I’m not trying to sell guitars 😂
The hotcake is criminally underrated
not really, its a very muddy pedal with no tone control and unless you run an exceptionally bright amp tone its hard to find a place in a mix
That's why this is popular with Vox amps.@@Purezshock
