Revelation Mother Earth is one of the masterpieces when it comes to a solo. Hello and well done Guys at MXR/Jim Dunlop ! You had the right idea to dress the Distortion Plus with a polka dot suit to homage Randy ! I took my first M104 in early '90 than my second is a CSP104+ reissue no AC/DC and no led ! Now I need Randy's one ! 👑🎸🔥
Still got mine. Had to send it out to get components replaced though. They added an external power thingy for me. Works perfectly. The place is trying to figure out how to hook it up to a pedalboard.
I'm with you, brother! I started playing in 1979. This was before Randy hit the scene. (I was first inspired to play by some guy named George Harrison, but I quickly got into the heavier stuff.) I had a Ross distortion* at the time. (* The Ross was basically a clone of the script logo D+ as used by Randy and so many others then.) The D+ appeared on my radar in 1981 when I first saw Rush. Alex Lifeson's equipment list was in the 'Moving Pictures' tour program, and the D+ was there. Then, in 1982, I caught Ozzy's Diary tour in New Orleans. Sadly, it was Brad Gillis, not Randy, on guitar. The tour program was printed before Randy left us, so... Again, I saw the D+ listed in the gear lists. In 1984, I bought the then-current D+. It was a new iteration called the 'Series 2000.' It was one of the last of the original MXR-brand pedals before they went bankrupt and were revived by Dunlop. That pedal into my little Fender Champ was insane. Three decades later, one of the pots started dying, so I bought the Dunlop D+, linked up the two, and used a Sharpie to mark my preferred settings on the FNG. I just bought the 15w EVH Iconic Series 5150 amp, and I can't wait to add the MXR Rhoads D+ to the signal chain. Years ago, I rewired a Strat with the same pickups in Randy's polka-dot V. I call it "Stormbringer." It's a beast. RR+EVH= Guitarmageddon, baby! 🎉
The distortion+ was probably the first pedal i ever bought, and i'll never sell it. It is instant rock, but it does one thing, and it will not clean up like a fuzz pedal can.
It's funny to see Kirk promoting R.R here . His favorite player was always Michael Schenker . I believe Zakk Wylde much more in really being into Randy's stuff .
I love that Zakk and Kirk both remind people it was a band called Blizzard of ozz, and not the lies the Osbournes revisionist history promotes. Kirk taking a little unintended swing at Lord Iommi
Zack would make a great Billy Gibbons impersonator if he had a different hat,one that looks like my car wash mitt!! A repainted distortion + at 10 times the price!! Bend over, Jim Dunlop is here!!!!!!
I’ve always wondered what could have been. Personally i believe Evh was on the same level at the time and I personally think there could have been a friendly feud between Evh and Rhodes and I won’t be surprised if they tried to one up each other and push each others limits. They were both revolutionaries.
I had wondered what Phil Demmel had to do with the making of this pedal....Kathy keeps bringing him up. I heard recently he's the reason this pedal even happened! If this is true....it's legendary at this point! I own #0467! Great fucking pedal. Dunlop really knocked it out with this one!
Is there anything on how to use it? Does it matter what the amp is like? Can you get Randy's sound from it like say the Tom Morello pedal gets Tom's sound?, which uses a clean amp I believe. What really makes this better than the regular Distortion+?
@@HenritheHorsebullshit, yoy think his sister allowed them to open his board just to go and slap polka dots on it and sell a reissued distortion+? That’s scandalous lol. Although I kinda see what you mean. This is supposed to be seen as a closer way to get his tone without dropping the 100$ more on a script era distortion plus in my opinion

I love MXR, been using them for 20+ years. Dunlop has the best customer service I've used in any product (admittedly I haven't needed to use them in years but...) With that said, I bought a used block letter Distortion+, and it was… terrible. The distortion was harsh and muddy. Due to the controls being really interactive, I couldn't use it for anything. Roll the gain down and it rolls off all the top end and upper mids and the volume drops. Roll up the tone and you basically lose the bass, which is all that's audible. I tried different values, diodes… I ended up raping it for parts for the next couple years and repurposing the enclosure. Maybe I got a bad one or a bad version. It's the only one I've tried.

I posted a link today to the Randy Rhoads isolated guitar tracks on the legacy page...they are incredible, both albums and the live EP
Lol at the unplugged marshall amp 3:42
Probably running into a quad Cortex emulating the pedal into a plexi 😂
Yes, it is a way of life .
When i learned the riff to crazy train i understood why so many people have become obsessed with a piece of wood with metal strings attached.
"Unique" is the HARDEST thing!
Most people forget Randy was only 25 when he died!
I'm currently experimenting with it, but Jim Dunlop's pick is very hard, so it's easy to get a Randy Rhoads sound.
I wish radio stations would play Crazy Train off of the Tribute album.... It's SO much better than the album version.
About time!
I’ve always wondered what could have been. Personally i believe Evh was on the same level at the time and I personally think there could have been a friendly feud between Evh and Rhodes and I won’t be surprised if they tried to one up each other and push each others limits. They were both revolutionaries.
It's in the hand folks
What? no it isn't, it's all in this pedal. When they buy the pedal they will sound just like him. MXR is selling them a dream. Bunch of sorry fan boys
It will be torture for folks😂
Great 👏🏻💯👍🏻
Awesome.
I hear a lot of people are angry about not being able to get the pedal due to it being sold out!
It would be great to see a video about the pedal 😉
The GOAT
I had wondered what Phil Demmel had to do with the making of this pedal....Kathy keeps bringing him up. I heard recently he's the reason this pedal even happened! If this is true....it's legendary at this point! I own #0467! Great fucking pedal. Dunlop really knocked it out with this one!
I just realised how much Kirk sounds like Mr. Mackey, the teacher from South Park. _mmmkaaay_
LOL
i cant wait
RR paired an MXR 10 band eq with the D+, that’s an extremely important component to hit sound.
FINALLY!
as if I didn't have enough already, now I'm going to need another board lmao
So hard to find and buy one that not even Zakk and Kirk has one to demo in this video? 😂
Long
Overdue.
I want one!
When is the pedal available?
It’s already sold out
@@LeGeeked. I got one on ZZsounds.
Pedal looks and sounds amazing. Anyone know what coffee table book that is featured throughout the video?
The break up on the album on the crazy train riff..Sounds like a pulley rattling on a steal line.
Is there anything on how to use it? Does it matter what the amp is like? Can you get Randy's sound from it like say the Tom Morello pedal gets Tom's sound?, which uses a clean amp I believe. What really makes this better than the regular Distortion+?
Name and paint job for more money. I'd rather get real vintage one.
@@LeGeeked. You can get the original vintage ones with missing paint etc. for cheaper. All these companies are making money on these names, they can't do anything more magic than the original pedals. I bet his sister was low on cash.
Randy was an angel sent here to inspire, like Hendrix.
Placed my order with Sweetwater already 😁
I haven’t seen it on there all day. How did you find it?
@@jasonlewis5350 It’s sold out now, Guitar Center has some in stock on their website though
@@jasonlewis5350 ,it was there this morning around 8 am eastern standard time.
It does look like it's no longer there. Maybe Sweetwater sold out their supply. I was lucky enough to have one put on hold. I paid for it and already have a receipt.
@@jasonlewis5350Since Sweetwater showed they sold out, I pre-ordered mine from Musician’s Friend. It looks like they’re still available for order, right now.
@@jamesmarcin4787sweet water was limited a certain amount of pedals I think, if you weren’t glued to the release and waiting since 12 am release, ur chances of getting this were pretty slim
Patiently awaits the new YJM malmsteen MXR
Best Randy Rhoads product ever is the Marshall 1959rr Super Lead 100W amp
When I think great tone, I think Randy Rhoads...
Fuck yes this is Legendary I'm getting One Asap!
All sold out lol
I can't find one@@LeGeeked.
@@GuitarBailey they’re all sold out bro, release was limited to 3200 worldwide. If you weren’t stacked over this release, chances of getting it was slim
@@LeGeeked. such bullshit. Randy was legendary and they make this pedal limited? WTF, MXR?! They must be in bed with scalper scum.
@@LeGeeked. I Got One!!
I love MXR, been using them for 20+ years. Dunlop has the best customer service I've used in any product (admittedly I haven't needed to use them in years but...)
With that said, I bought a used block letter Distortion+, and it was… terrible.
Where can I get it???????
