  • The clunking or clicking noise coming from your shaking wheel during braking might be due to a bad thrust arm
    The specific noise can be caused by a worn out bushing and occurs while driving and especially while braking. This bushing in question is on the inner side of thrust arm, but if the ball joint goes bad you may also experience instability. With a few simple steps, your BMW will be back to normal in no time! So don't wait - watch this video now and get started fixing your BMW's clunking noise!

    lots of very good tips and tricks Fritz, just curious- why didn't you go to the adjustable bearings?

    A shame that you got the orientation of the BMW logo hub caps wrong, they should officially be perpendicular with the "M" logo. Just kidding around Fritz, great content as ever!

    I have some clunking ever since I installed my KW suspension... after retorquing everything except for the sway bar links the noise persists... only on one side. Only happens over bumps.
    Thought it was the steering rack bushing, a popular fix amongst F2X,F3X cars.. but nope.
    I really like your guides Fritz, I'm sure a lot of people will find this video useful! (but I'm a coward and sick of noises so for this fix I'd just take it to a shop)

      Did you install camber plates? Don't be so hard on yourself. It was only a few years ago that I wasn't able to do this job on an easier RWD. It's all a process

    Seems like front control arm replacement is needed more often on the last few generations of BMWs. I worked at a BMW dealership a few years ago and just about every modern BMW I tapped the brakes on needed front control arms or bushings. At one point we got dinged by BMWNA for having the most front control arm warranty repairs in the country. It is what it is though. If they're bad they're bad. It still appears to be a problem and you can tell for the numerous control arms available to be purchased on the internet.

    I'd describe the intro sound as *shuttering* under load, would definitely check wheels & suspension as you show here. The *clicking/ticking* I had was due to a friction disc that was required between performance rotors & wheel hub, a BMW recall exists for this.

    • @TheHunterHofman
      @TheHunterHofman Год назад +1

      I also thought it would be the clicking/ticking noise, which I thoroughly tackled in my videos.

      Is there a specific one for our cars though? The only ones I see available are matches for the M cars.. it's not the end of the world as you can bodge them to fit, it's just they don't hold themselves when putting everything back together unlike assembly on an M car, I had to get a second set of hands to pinch the friction disc whilst I put everything back together.

    I really don't like that cheap plastics are still used for suspension components on performance cars, crappy lifespan. I'd like to get solid or poly bushings eventually to make steering less sloppy
