I've been needing this video intro in my life. Keep up the good work.
Its probably your top hats on the front struts, my clicking went away when I upgraded to ground control camber plates. More NVH on the road but at least no clicking.
dont want blame if this is wrong but this is my vote. I am expecting this issue at some point based on FB group reading.
Thanks both of you, will take this into account!
Mostlikely. I had the same issue on F30 (clicking noice as I was turning the steering wheel) and replacing top strut mounting (a "hat" as you called it) fixed the issue. I've used FEBI BILSTEIN 104871 Repair Kit for that job.
Me again, and alot to say, that rip thing was just the best keep up with the funny videos they are pure excellence, next thank you for cleaning in the wheels I thought I was the only one who did that, and keep that amazing editing up it will really help grow the channel and ofcourse that intro is the best
Really appreciate the feedback mate, will be putting out more content for sure
Finally I see someone who knows how to do maintenance on his car, mostly using the torque wrench to tighten any bolt, good.
Appreciate it mate
Great videos / channel. Loving the M2 🔥👌 Just subscribed 👍
Appreciate that mate! Thank you
Thanks for sharing the video!! Really looking forward to find a solution.
Expect a new video on this by the end of next week mate
I love your channel, and my m2 is also doing a cluncking sound in front not when turning but just backing up the car and then going forward again almost sound like the brake pads are moving, also sometimes just going over bumps.
Thank you, appreciate that! Haven’t ever had the problem your describing to be honest, let me know when you’ve figured out what it was
This was an awesome DIY video!!
Appreciate it buddy
i have the same sound after a long time not driving (around a week) only for when i get out of the parking spot, but if i drive frequently it never makes that sound. wonder if its the same problem
Lol ahahahahhaha had me dying at the end
Amazing video btw
Haha thank you, appreciate it!
could you do more pov vids? Love the m2.
m2 over the m2 competition anyday lol n55 sounds better imo
Right now i have a infiniti 08 g35 rwd hopefully in a couple months ill get a m2. i love how the turbos sound on this car!
has this car give you any serious issues?
I agree, the N55 does sound better! I don’t have a GoPro but I will try to do some POV videos. Would a POV drive through Amsterdam at night be a cool video?
I’ll be uploading one coming week
I had this issue on my 335i it seems to occur if the car is lowered..I would take a look at the front control arms and see if there is any excess residue along the bushings that might be the culprit
Thanks mate, will take a look at this too. I’m also thinking about ordering friction discs (for inbetween the hubs and rims).
bend the little fork thing outwards on the pinch bolt, it's what clicks. just fixed this on my 2018 M2. the fork thing is clicking against the threads on the bolt.
Check 2:53 of the video. Having said that, the clicking noise on that side of the car is gone, so I think it’s good there!
@@TheHunterHofman ahh, didn't catch that.
So bending it fixes it? I just bought a used 2018 530e iperformance and I'm having the same problem... I did see yor other video where it gets fixed, but don't want to take the bearings out, if not necessary.
Have you tried standing on one leg, and do 3 full turns that helped my noise go away
Sounds like coilover springs binding or worn-out strut tophat bearings
I had this *exact* clicking noise when I turned the steering on my M2, it started about a week after I got the car lowered. I put up with it for a few months, then happened to mention it in passing to a KwikFit garage that was fitting me new tyres. When I came back to get my car with the new tyres fitted, the tech said he had fixed the problem! It has never come back over two years. I asked him at the time what he did, and he showed me the top of the struts under the bonnet and said that something (possibly rubber sorry I can't remember exactly what he said) was getting snagged and twisted and was causing the clicking sound. Sorry I can't be more specific but I can tell you that it was a 10 minute job for him that he did for free and required no new parts.
Thanks for your comment, interesting. I have already made an additional video in which I fixed the noise. In that video I also mess around with the spring and the top of the struts; seems like that’s the culprit then.
i want The same job
Im also expriencing this problem on my F80, did the exact steps and still persists. Its driving me nuts.
Hope you fix it soon, curious what is making that sound...
btw, that brush fits perfect in that hole.... 👌🏻
Yeah that was pretty satisfying haha. I hope so too, will not be giving up and will look further into it.
Had the same issue .. I also changed the suspension top mount bolts as well as the pinch bolt which resolved the clicking noise 🤞🏾(Touch wood)
Great vids creases me up😂
@@andrewchanner463 so just the top mount bolts (not the top mounts themselves)? I have a new bought a new set of bolts, so will be trying this soon.
Hi I have the same problem as you, my Bmw M2 makes clicking noises when I turn or when I pass over holes or bumps. I changed the same screw as you, but after 1 month the noise came back. Did you find anything else to change on the car?
Yeah have some more ideas up my sleeve, of which I shall make a video in the future
could you tell me more? I changed the same screw as you + the cups + the screws of the cradle
Bearing mount for struts ?
It's on the list for the (upcoming) solution, who knows!
@@TheHunterHofman crazy part is my Lexus is doing the same shit I jacked the car checked everything
Any news on solving the clicking noise?
I’ve done a lot of research and currently waiting for parts. Once I get the parts I’ll be making a new video, I’m pretty sure I have the solution this time.
Hello, has this issue been resolved? I am also having this issue with my 228i.
Not yet mate, I’ve written down a couple of things to try; will be following this issue up!
@@TheHunterHofman I found another user with the same issue: ruclips.net/video/1bm22gLtrFQ/видео.html
@@MisterPark90 thanks but this seems way louder and the noise on my car only occurs under 5km/h
@@TheHunterHofman I think I resolved it, I took my front wheels off, hosed them down, and placed hub centric dust covers, torqued the wheels to 105lbs, drove in a figure 8, and no longer have ticking/clicking anymore.
@@MisterPark90 what do you mean by placed hub centric disc covers? Do you have a link?
Have you heard this noise while driving ? When doing a tight turn for example.
Only during very low speeds at a tight turning angle, when pulling out of a parking place for instance.
Have you checked the heat shild if it's in kontakt with some other parts? You can also check the wishbone bearings. They also make some noise, when turning. Are these stock springs and dampers?
thanks for your comment, I've written it down and will take it all into account for next time. The springs and dampers are from M-Performance
Did you find the solution to this? I’m going crazy with these noises 😅
Hey man, yes, check out my other video! “Clicking Noise FIXED” I believe it’s called.
I had the Same Problem on my e89 Z4. I spend 600 Euro to BMW. The Placed some grip discs on the Breaks. It not even worden for 100%. Sometimes i can hear it again
Yeah it’s a shame that it’s a problem among multiple types of BMW’s. I am aware of these discs, but will be trying some other stuff in the future. To be continued
Strut mounts flange bearings are gone that's the fix, replace those and it's a done deal
had the same noise ..i stopped it.. by greasing the two front sway bar rubber bushings
Hm good to know; if it ever comes back I’ll try that too
Bruh just yelled in my ears so hard, if I fix my clicking noise I won’t tell you cuz I’m afraid you’ll yell at me
I found the solution, it was the top mount/strut mount that was bad. Bought a new one and its dead silent!!
Interesting, will look into this too! Thanks
@@TheHunterHofman any news bro? Did u fix
I had something similar, more of a tisking noise from the front right.. this usually went away after jacking the car up but always came back after a day or so. My local handling/tuning garage were at a loss trying to diagnose it. In the end I did a combination of removing the plate holder between the pinch bolt, new pinch bolts with anti seize, torquing the pinch bolt to spec +90 degrees and still nothing, what did however resolve my tisking noise was fitting a "Disc for higher coefficient of friction". These are paper thin aluminium discs that are supposedly placed between your wheel hub and brake disc, personally I found just one didn't fix it, however placing one between your hub and brake disc as well as between your brake disc and wheel resolved it. My problem now is that the passenger side has started and I'm not willing to pay £90 in total for a tiny thin piece of paper 😂 check my channel for a video on the sound I had
Haha yeah fair enough. I’ve got news for you though: ruclips.net/video/ShrmqaryzOE/видео.html go check it out ;)
It’s the steering rack the problem
2weeks and no new videos! Share some of that fun you’re having with that M and post 🤣
Yeah I’m sorry, I had to wait for parts but they finally arrived yesterday! Will be making new content tomorrow and uploading this weekend!
I had the same problem in an Audi S3. My mechanic solved it by replacing the bearings at the top of the suspension
Try see this video (ruclips.net/video/sIJsnr7VH0k/видео.html) or try invert the screw that you take off like the video i send. Invert the screw solved my problem, i have the same m2 f87
I had this on my m235i dude that's not solvable, and bmw told me that's not a problem.....
I will solve the unsolvable
@@TheHunterHofman sorry but, in france, bmw are incapable, i had also a problem with the valve on my mperf exhaust, that was open in cold start and after 1 mins it automacly closed, i didnt touch the sport or comfort mode.... and when i goes for sport mode the exhaust stay in comfort mode valve closed... so i decide this day to go in a pro private bmw garage who are specialized in M for that type of problème, if you have one too go for it dude
And i will ad that my m235i i now sold and im searching for an original m2 n55 like u cause thats my favourite car, i try a lot, and there is nothing better in sensation!! Have fun Mbro!
🤣 Did you really place the jack stand (1:24) with it not even touching the vehicle? If that jack failed, the stand would have done nothing for you. It looks likes its just sitting below a tie rod. If you dont have a jack low enough to get to the center motor jack mount area. You could just jack that side up from the rear jack point high enough to slide your jack stand under the front jack mount point. That way the car is resting on the jack stand. If that jack failed, the car would have dropped and that jack would have just took out your tie rod and done nothing for you. Im not hating on you buddy. Be safe! EDIT: I now see that you placed it under the lower control arm. Thats better than nothing. But i would have rested the car on a jack at one of the jack mounting locations.
Yeah you’re right man! It’s the only jack stand I had and I didn’t want to scratch up my control arm hence why I placed it slightly below it (but enough for it to catch the car in case the jack would fail). Sharp of you for noticing and thanks for your comment 👍🏻
