I wish someone would make a modern tail light that is more 3D like the 991.2 lights without the Christmas tree, Vegas style separate bulbs. New tail lights and a bumper without the bumper squares flanking the license plate is all the rear needs to modernize it.
I agree but those led tails are the only options now. As for the bumps, the Euro bumpers don't have them. They can be easily removed but the holes would need to be covered.
Thank you very much for your video.Ideally when putting back on your steering wheel ,you should clean the old threadlock off the screw, put some fresh one (loctite 243) then tied it up at 45 N.m making it secure. Happy new year form France and happy driving!
Happy New Year! I totally agree with you. I wasn't even thinking about loctite or the proper torque. I've been working on cars for so long that I'm just used to tightening with feel . . . but you are totally correct!
I actually have this in my 997 and love it. I can't tell the difference in the OEM short shifter from my buddy's Numeric. Preference is what counts. I actually prefer this for my daily use as I'm sure other as well. Cool vid Rasta, love your other videos as well. Keep it up and looking forward to see what else you do to that awesome looking turbo!
I would reroute the emergency decklid release (looped wire on bottom right). Otherwise you’ll be SOL if you ever get a completely dead battery and need to get in there since you have to have the decklid open to remove the light to get access. The one for the frunk is in the drivers side wheel well under the liner. It’s also easily rerouted to the grill area.
I did forget and closed my frunk once with the battery disconnected and had to use the emergency cable behind the wheel well. I think your suggestion is great and I did contemplate doing something to easily access the release cables but problem is, if anyone knows about the release cables or sees them dangling, they could easily access the frunk and rear compartment.
Thank you so much for instructional DYI. Awesome upgrades and love the flat steering wheel. I have a 2009 997 and seeking the same upgrade with a yellow stripe.
I bought these off a friend. You can search for Depo or Spyder LED tail light for the 997 or just LED tail light for the 997 and you'll have many choices. Make sure the one you choose has the error canceling resistor. Good luck.
Congrats. You're gonna love it. I got the LEDs off a buddy but you can find them via rennlist (used mostly) or directly from Depo. A search online will yield lots of results. Just make sure the lights have the resistors that will prevent the car from throwing a code. You should also look into LED lights for the interior. I replaced mine with LEDs and love it - so much brighter than the std. yellow lights.
The interior looks amzaing, i noticed something special with it the trim around the screen is black which looks way better then the grey trim, is that stock or a modification u made?
It's actually stock. It's the PCM 2.0 version. It was introduced to into the Turbo in 2009. I had a 2008 Turbo and it had the grey trim. I like them both and the real difference I see between the 2 is the 2.0 has a touch screen. Otherwise, I didn't have an issue with either as most owner seem to hate both. I prefer listening to the exhaust on my drives. :)
Does anyone know if it is possible to replace a PCM 2.0 with a PCM 3.1? While I’m waiting for Porsche Classic to do a PCCM + update for the 997, I would like to get Apple CarPlay while keeping the original look.
@@rasta997turbo9 can find anything there. You wouldn’t think it would fit as there seems to be little significant size difference. I know I can resolve wiring issues. I have no nag or phone modules

Hi, No issues what so ever with the new steering wheel. Definitely disconnect your battery for the airbag removal because you don't want to risk having the airbag explode in your face. It's really easy to remove the steering wheel. Just take your time when trying to locate the pin that the releases the clamps holding the airbag in place. The airbag release can be tricky to locate but stick the rod straight in to about 1-2 inches. Any further than you missed the release. I didn't disconnect the battery for the other mods as it was not necessary. Hope this helps.
I’m unsure why you didn’t take a nice clean clothe and clean & wax the Dirty area behind the taillights. Why would you leave it dirty. “Out of site. Out of Mind??” Anytime you take something off of your car and it’s dirty underneath it. Clean it!!!!!
@@rasta997turbo9 after looking at the HRE website, I don't think those are the wheels. The wheels on the car in this video are 5 spoke designs. maybe they are the HRE 305s?
Appreciate the opinion. The LED tail lights are not for everyone but I prefer them over the OEM, which look a little dated IMO. I still have the OEM so I can always reinstall them if my mood changes in the future.

Love the thicker steering wheel and feel. The flat bottom makes ingress and egress easier as well, especially with my new sports seats. Best of luck!

Correct. It's the same across the 997 Series.

This is a 997.1 TT, produced til mid of 2008. Definitely not a 2009 made.
This is registered as a 2009 and it is a 997.1 model.
It's a 2009 dummy, look at updated infotainment system at :50. 2009 was a 997.1 with the 997.2 infotainment system.
Turbos usually lag a year behind in style.
