Update 8. DSC Sports controller which will make a HUGE difference to the ride. Better than swapping out the original suspension, whilst keeping the car original.
I ended up just going with the cable and keeping the shifter OEM. Hopefully I’ll get my car back this week. I know it’s not going to make a huge difference, but just piece of mind that the cable will last longer.
Not a huge fan of KW for road use. I’ve seen KW fail multiple times on street driven cars. Leaking shocks, sagging springs. On the track I’m sure they are great but for harsh roads and harsh climate on daily driven vehicle I don’t think These are so great. Also the repair or warranty process sucks too. Leaking shock? You have to mail the whole unit to KW for repair. In a shop setting where does that leave the customer? You’d have to reinstall OE suspension, then pay a shop to reinstall the KW when it returns from repair. Or if you are a DIY’r your car will be on jack-stands for weeks or months. As a shop owner I’ve spoke to KW to see if they could ship out a replacement shock for repair under warranty for a client. Again, they explained the whole assembly needs to be shipped back to them. I asked if I could PAY for the shock then to be reimbursed when I return the compromised shock. They declined. I also own a bmw M2. I purchased BMW Mperformance Coilovers from the dealer. These Coilovers are made by KW. Both drivers side shocks were leaking oil from the dampening adjusters after the 20k miles. At the shop I ordered KW V3 for one of my technicians for his MKIV GTi. After 10k miles drivers side we noticed sat lower one day. Under inspection front left shock was leaking. We spoke to KW we were told we had to mail in the assembly of course. My tech put a set of $900 BC Coilovers and hasn’t had an issue for the past 2 years. KW I’m sure is great for the track but real world driving I would never rock them again. Go with bilstein, they are an OE recognized brand and the B16’s are PASM compatible. Have PASM? Want KW? You have to purchase a resistor kit on top of buying the suspension to cancel the error messages on the dash. KW is a miss for me.
I was really impressed with theme when a drove a 330i e90 at the ring but I never had a chance to drive it ever again. Good feedback. I was about to buy a set for my Porsche. Thanks.
Hi Lee Great vid pleased to see you’re giving 997s some love….but you forgot to mention RSS engine mounts, the easiest and best cost effective mod to any 997 or 996, totally transforms the car.
Great vid Lee! Good timing too - having just reviewed a 997.2 - which I LOVED - one of the few mods I felt the car needed was an exhaust. The car I drove was on stock dampers with lowering springs and I thought the ride quality was excellent! Keep up the great work sir!
What about an Underdrive pulley like the RSS unit? Although I have a X51 pack equipped car I feel she revs more lazily than she should! Oh and a magnetic drain plug and don’t forget oil analysis every time we drain the life blood!
Excellent set of contemplation for upgrades / maintenance. Delighted to hear the Boxster 987 also get a mention towards the end of the video as much of these suggestions would apply I guess. Superb discount too !
I just purchased a 05 997 and I need new volume and the search knob for the radio because they’ve become very sticky to the touch. I looked on the heritage website but couldn’t find them. Any suggestions?
can anyone help me where do i purchase 997 ENGINE GASKETS KITS/plus complete hose replacement ,my 997 has 200,000 miles ,i may require pistons/rings.i have no clue where to start.
My Dansk silencers are still on my 996, I've just Gundo hacked them. As I mentioned in this video, there are PLENTY of options when it comes to exhausts, the decision of course is yours.

Best mod I did to mine was fit a Numeric shifter.
I did the same, such a difference!
Great shout, thanks for sharing, hopefully it's further inspo for others.

your right, they are the worst suspension to fit on a porsche. i would fit a set if you gave me one for free.
Great intel - thanks

Thanks.
Great video being a 997 owner it has given me food for though on what i may need to look at in the future :-)
I have the dual exhaust tip on my 997.2 and they look amazing!
Change the orange indicator bulbs for silver Osram indicator bulbs. It gives a much cleaner look to the lenses.
Scart exhaust was my best upgrade so far on my 997.2. Great sound at last. More powerfull battery was use full too.

This is a great shout, Tony, thanks for putting it out there so others can bear this in mind too.
Tony can you comment on feel? Would it benefit a 2007 GT3 RS with 80000 kms? Tks
Doesnt that add significantly to the vibrations at idle?

DSC Sports controller in lieu of coilovers. Great with PASM too!

perfect video. thx
Great info thanks any news on the Pcm upgrade for the 997 from Porsche ?
My OPC told me 2023 when I checked recently.
Yes it'll be next year, 100%
@@herme99 wager? I'd absolutely love an upgraded pcm
@@9WERKSTV gawd I hope. I hate using a Bluetooth adapter

Thanks Pritesh, glad you enjoyed.
I just used your 10% off code and bought a new fuel tank for my 1986 G series restore project, nice one mate!👍🏾
I just purchased a 05 997 and I need new volume and the search knob for the radio because they’ve become very sticky to the touch. I looked on the heritage website but couldn’t find them. Any suggestions?
My radio knobs on my 997 are sticky too.
How would you replace the climat control buttons?
Replace the standard engine mounts for RS mounts. Made my car feel much tighter and gave smoother shifting.
I've a tip c4 996.1. Would you recommend RS mounts? It's not a track car but I would like a bit of stiffness without adding to cabin noise.
Good job, very nice.
fingers crossed for a 991.1 upgrades video
Great idea!
Great video Lee,
I know it would be a costly upgrade but would a lightweight clutch and flywheel be a good modification for the 997.2 in your opinion?

can anyone help me where do i purchase 997 ENGINE GASKETS KITS/plus complete hose replacement ,my 997 has 200,000 miles ,i may require pistons/rings.i have no clue where to start.
Hi Lee, Is the Dansk system your recommendation for the 997.1 and if so which one as they seem to offer a few depending on noise/loudness?
Lee it looks like someone's given you a shiner on the right eye?
I run a 997.1 2008 Targa 4S and would like to get the parts numbers on 71 degrees Low Temp thermostat and where to place an order...Amazon?
Try Pelican Parts or LN Engineering.
Swap the wiper blades for Bosch Aero blades. Takes years off the car.
Yeah me too. You get to see more of the bonnet and lights while driving too which is why I went Bosch
You should of said for a Gen 1 😉
Do you still recommend coilovers for 997.2s with PASM?
A lower temperature engine is less efficient.
Bore score engine due to overheating #2 is not more efficient.
droppign the temps helps prevent that from happening.
good to here you can get affordable parts
Mehle deteriorates very quickly
Yeah but then you have a cool sounding scored-up engine.
Hold on!…….didn’t you put a Dansk exhaust on your 996 and were so disappointed that you looked to replace it almost immediately??
My Dansk silencers are still on my 996, I've just Gundo hacked them. As I mentioned in this video, there are PLENTY of options when it comes to exhausts, the decision of course is yours.
On that note. Is this your top 7 Lee or the shops 7 best sellers inc Dansk. Genuine question.
Agree to 6 of the upgrades, throw the KN filter in the bin
Interesting. Why?
you guys are very pricy with suspension parts i have to say!
A cooler engine is more efficient? Nah.
You lose PASM with the coil overs I think?
(Did you delete my last comment?🙄)
You do lose PASM with the V3s but there are other KW coilovers which work with PASM. Also, no comments deleted!
IMO the PASM sucks anyhow. I would love some KW
@@chriscarbaugh3936 PASM on old, worn original dampers is pretty crap. But with a new set Bilstein B4 or B6 dampers it is absolutely transformed.
I think you might have missed the number one upgrade:
