Very curious about the camera. That was the only reason I was going with an aftermarket head unit. Wireless ACP would have been nice but honestly it's more reliable with the wire. Is there a usb in the back of the unit?
Thanks very much for the video guys. The product FAQ suggests the reverse camera support is for the factory Cayenne camera "12. Yes, the factory-installed rear view camera is connected to the PCCM Plus by means of a multi-adapter."

Great post guys - well done for getting this done and out there - brilliant to see it in the flesh. Couple of observations (on the unit - not your install or video) - I think it's a backwards step to only have USB presentation on the front - I would want to be able to route a cable from the rear to an armrest cubby or the glovebox - phone cable hanging out the front is horrid., would have preferred the box like the 9x6 version if I couldn't just run the cable where I wanted it. Also - massive miss that it's not available for a .2 car, that just seems like a marketing decision to me. Anyway - thanks for this - very very good.
The .2 car has a different PCM, so yet another unit has to be designed. And, given that Porsche's policy is apparently to introduce such units circa 15 years after the cars went out of production, the .2 unit isn't expected until late 2026/early 2027.
@@nigel.w yup - PCM 3 is different to PCM2 but the differences aren't massive when it comes to interface and connectivity to the car. A different fascia ( which they already did for the Cayenne) and some additional logic for the slightly different canbus signals required. but the .2 Canbus setup is very similar to a .1 there isn't a large engineering effort. When they decide to bring it to market is purely a marketing decision, nothing is going to change on the .2 cars in the next few years - all that is going to happen is fewer people will be prepared to pay that kind of premium on cars that are by then worth a lot less than they are today - and the market will be further narrowed because people will turn to 3rd party solutions. It seems a flawed approach to me
@@PaulPeard I largely agree. But maybe they don't want to be constantly updating these kind of units? So the resultant logic is maybe to market new units every four years, and upgrade the units every 15 years? Obviously, I don't really know. However, I think your reasoning is basically sound in so far as the demand for such units when the cars are worth significantly less may well be lower. Then again, maybe not. For sure, some will go third party in the meantime. Then again, some people in this thread who already went third party on their .1s said they're going to replace their thrid party units with this. Anyway, it is obviously very frustrating for current .2 owners, and to be further frustrated by no explicit policy from Porsche about expected release dates.
Nice! I wish they could do something similar to bring the 991.1 up a notch as well. I'd love DAB+ and Android Auto on my 991.1. I know there are 3rd party upgrades available to the PCM3.1, but it would be good if Porsche could do something from the factory.
Very impressive and with the additional features on this model over the 996 version. Would definitely justify the cost especially with the reversing camera fitted. Noice 👌🏼😊
Finally the wait is over 🙂, one question does the front "grey" facia come off easily? I've had my centre PCM/HVAC section painted matt black so would need to be able to remove the facia plate to have it painted to match.
Hi, this is a great video! I'm already on Suncoast's waiting list for the 987/997 PCCM+ unit. How can I reach out to you to see if I can pick one up from you guys stateside? Excited to get my hands on one soon - I've held off on any aftermarket units for years now to pick a PCCM+ unit up.
Great job lads, great looking unit. What did you mean regarding bypassing the amp, is that the am/fm amp loop shown in the video or the optional amp thats sometimes fitted in the front by the toolkit? I have the extra amp in the front, which means an additional brown plug to whats shown in the video. I can see there is a space for it on the new unit, must go straight in as no adapter is provided?
@@michaelmctomney7568 with the install you dont bypass the antenna amp, you replace them. The Fibre bypass cable is for bypassing the CD Changer and Amp in the boot. They are no longer required/used with the new head unit
Very nice integration! same color, same buttons to keep the original style. It seems the CD/MP3 player is gone but I guess you can still play the 6 CDs in the charger? Does it play music from the USB-A port with a stick connected to it? Also, does it have a wireless Apple Car play or one needs to use the USB-A port with the phone connected to it? Is there any plan to add the USB-C as well?
Hmm - I could be wrong. I quickly skimmed it and since I saw many porsche canBus specific features retained - I assumed the sport chronos features all retained as well
Hello gentlemen's, thank you very much for your video. It helps me a lot for the installation of my PCCM+! However, I have a question: The cable PCG.645.573.00 is used to connect what with what? My configuration: PCM 2.1, GPS, Bose. Thank you from Switzerland.
Do you guys know if you can spec this unit with a leather surround? My Turbo has full leather including the PCM unit and heater controls below, so the standard grey finish shown here would look out of place. Thanks.
Great vid guys. Looks like it ticked all my boxes (real audiophiles always opt for wired, plus the wired carplay keeps the phone charged). I will have my installer connecting the rear cam as well. The only minor design flaw is the USB not to be USB-C. I hope it is at least 3.2. (2017) to work with USB-C cables. AS UBS4 (C) came out in 2021, Porsche must be designing this unit for some years ;-).
I see lots of questions in the comments about the backup camera. You mentioned you were having it fitted. Did it work? Did you need anything special? Anything you can share would be useful.
Hi all, a couple of weeks ago I had pccm plus installed on my 997 turbo with bose. Everything works quite well, but the volume at maximum is low. Have you noticed the same thing too?
I have a 987 Cayman S first generation and I'm very curious because I have the CDR 24 sound system with 10 speakers. If I install the PCCM Plus will I get the same features like the models with sat nav? I can't wait to have this in my Porsche!
This is making me consider older Porsches for my next. Something about the 987 Boxster is drawing me in now that I can have a factory look and CarPlay in a modern classic. Personally, I think the majority of users will use CarPlay or Android Auto 90% of the time - as I do with the JoyeAuto unit on my 981. Makes you wonder why they bothered with the PCCM+ navigation tbh!
The PCCM+ nav always works, even if there is no cellular network, or the phone battery is dead, or your phone breaks on a trip or is pickpocketed, or you drop it in the toilet... It's just always there...
Well done getting this out so soon. Impressed with all the integration with the dash and other settings. Does it facilitate bass and fader adjustment on Bose cars (where normally aftermarket fitments do not)?
i'm ok with the exposed usb, since Ill stick a small usb stick with MP3's in there anyway but they could have put a flap/cap over that map thingie, since nobody will ever change that on any decent frequency and put a USB on a lead in the back so you can put it in the glove comparement with your phone, or in the center console comparement with an extension
Hi, do you have part numbers for the two antenna boosters and the module bypass lead? I'm trying to convert my Boxster 987.1 windscreen from AM/FM to DAB. Would I need a new coax lead to the radio?
Great video. The rear connectors are the same like the PCCM on the 996. So I think, you could connect the external mediabox from the 996 there. Have you ever tried it? Did you connect an extra cable for the possible rearview camera?
I just had the unut installed in the US for my 07 997, not bose.. but the sound volume, bass response (turned up at equalizer) and clarity seems to be worse that mmy original porche sound package plus when playing cd's so now thinking about amplifier and speaker upgrade. Feels like the amplifier is underpowered compared to the original Becker unit. Did anyone else experience the same performance drop ?
I have a 987 Cayman would this work in my Porsche? I have a error amplifier not available message. Does this use the existing amplifier? I was looking for an upgrade to my system, the price is a bit high, but its looks so original and that makes it worth it for me. I would hate to order this and find I still have the same problem. Ive been thru all the reset suggestions, the radio seems to function, but just no sound.
Hello, I’m in the US and getting ready to install the PCCm plus in my 997.1 Turbo Tiptronic. Do I need to remove the CD player in the frunk or no? And does the amp need to be removed or no? I have an orange loop MOST connector but not sure it’s needed if CD changer & or amp doesn’t needed to be removed. Thank you for any help?
Will the 996 PCCM Plus every get updated to allow a reversing camera? And usb on the facia? I have held off getting the PCCM Plus because of the lack of a reversing camera input
That caused me some hesitation but in the end, I’ve gone for PCCM+ on my 996.2, despite no camera. The improvements on satnav, ability to Bluetooth my phone, legal (hands free) phone calls make it necessary to enjoy my car. Also, silly reason #5, sticky main buttons will get replaced 🙃
Hi there! Nice vid - on the subject of MOST/Bose, do you get the impression that its digital all the way to the amp? Or do you think the external MOST box is doing the same as other aftermarket solutions (i.e. A2D conversion of the line-level output). Ignition noise/interference is a bit of a problem on my current aftermarket Bose solution.
I’ve got a Cayman S 987.1 2006 with Bose & Phone that I bought new, and I’ll tell you those graphics looked dated in 2006 and the GSM stopped working 11 years ago due to telecom protocol here in the USA. I hope I can find one 0:13 of these PCCM+ units because my PCM screen just fried.
What is the center set of pins used for on the lower right side of the PCCM+? There are three sets, the right side is for the AM/FM and Sirius XM, the Left Side is the Can Bus....but the center set is not used. What is it for? I have having left over parts or pieces not used!
That looks a great unit to get an OE look, however I'd be lieing if I said I was happy with how the microphone fits and no rear USB. Seems like they could have made the mic fit the original location and just replaced the OE item. Not quite sure about the interference issue on the longer USB leads - none of the aftermarket units seem to have this issue. Also seems a bit weird that they didn't just make the unit full double-DIN as having to put in the separate MOST adapter seems a bit odd for an OE solution. Otherwise the ability for it to communicate with the instrument cluster is brilliant, that's the only thing I 'miss' about my Pioneer - oh and front/rear MOST balance and fade which would be good to have.
Re the most hur adapter - it’s Becuz it’s based on an android 6 device, not an oem becker unit. That’s why none of the oem mic, gps etc is compatible With that said this is the ONLY aftermarket unit with a 4 channel fiber optic converter - porsche may have ponied up the cash to develop this custom part. Also kudos to how all the canBus programming is on point re native to porsche internal internal functions. Ie trip computer etc
Looks great. I'm seriously in doubt to buy this. What would u say: is it possible to run a hidden wire with USB-connection to the armrest or hide wireless connection-box ?
I’m on the cusp of buying it but still trying to find out about the backup camera. My local Porsche dealership (in Canada) didn’t have an answer over the phone so I’m still on the fence with my stereo upgrade for my 987.1
Hi guys, great video. Questions; 1. How is this integrated with BOSE audio system? 2. Is the installation procedure is well detail (example how to remove the side windows trims)? 3. After installation, can I remove the old navigation system that's in the trunk?

Thank you for this video. I have installed through a Porsche specialist the new PCCM + on my 997.1 GT3 and it's amazing to enjoy Apple CarPlay on this car despite the fact that a camera is not possible to connect and function for an unknown reason. Another issue more disturbing is the fact that the FM and DAB+ reception is very bad and sensible depending to the location of the car from one street to the next. or sometimes even within a few meters distance. May be someone has a tip or solution that seems to appear frequently on some forum topics. I would really appreciate some help.
You need to get a trigger wire on the plug (position 6)for the revering camera- after that is the same as fitting any reverse camera- Fakra to RCA and camera from Amazon - Need to do factory reset so it recognises the camera and then configure PCCM
So there is no RCA outputs available ? I would love to be able to connect it to an aftermarket amp and replace the oem Bose speakers with a high end aftermarket option
Nice looking unit🤩 Some stupid already outdated futures: no wireless CarPlay. USB A and not usb c, so need to use a dongle for modern iphone cables…😖 Why a not everything allready in the unit but on/in top bracket….. Still love the look!❤
EDIT & CORRECTION: It apparently does have bluetooth. That is good news! GPS software is now Q2/2021, which is a relief. I suppose with appleplay and google maps, it renders this somewhat obsolete, except when you're in areas where there is no phone reception (common in some areas of the USA). I actually used the mapping software this past fall to get me out of a traffic jam in a remote area of the US. CD no longer in the unit as well. I still use the CD as it reads MP3 files from the CD and I can add 5-10 standard CDs to a single disk. The video mentioned 1499 quid for the unit and install. I saw that the unit here in NA was $1479, installation extra. Doesn't seem to be a difficult install as the FM & GPS units in the columns may not be necessary... Sam Toscano

Omg, that looks brilliant, I want that in my 997 turbo. Had a aftermarket system fitted last year but this looks ace. Definitely on my list of to do’s
So far I'm very unimpressed with my new uni
@@David-hn5ix Could you please explain further? I have a 997 turbo and am looking to upgrade as well.
@MAK23 I have a volume problem with Bluetooth and car play. I took it to porsche unfortunately i knew more about the unit than they did. My original bose system sounded MUCH better with a wireless $12 Bluetooth adapter. Unit looks great. Easy to install.
@@David-hn5ix thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear about that. It’s funny you mention that because I have a $12 Bluetooth adapter as well ha ha. And honestly it doesn’t sound bad. It’s just when trying to make phone calls it’s not the best for the recipient, and of course, it’s an old system. I have the Bose stereo system as well. Now it almost makes me wonder if I should even do it. $1500 plus God knows how much labor at the dealership or the headache of doing it myself to basically get a touchscreen?
As usual, thank you very much for a great video, very interesting and informative. Now I need to find good installer in Provence.
Hello and congratulations on the job! Could you tell me what model of dab antenna amplifier you have installed? Is it the same left and right? Thanks
Noice 👌🏼😊
Not having wireless CarPlay is a bit of a shocker these days! Is their a USB socket at the back of the unit to put on a Bluetooth dongle at least?
good question, I hope so too!
no usb at the back :/ no wirless carplay for us...
Design was probably finalized before wireless Apple CarPlay was introduced.
Finally the wait is over 🙂, one question does the front "grey" facia come off easily? I've had my centre PCM/HVAC section painted matt black so would need to be able to remove the facia plate to have it painted to match.
Same question for me, I've white interiors
the facia is clipped on.. remove the turn buttons and unclip to paint
@Friends Green Porsche - is the rotary controller now work correctly or is it backwards like the original pcm?
Its the same as original PCM - they are very handy - you can control just about everything - even when in Apple CarPlay
Good on you for waiting. That way you get to keep all the trip info etc 👍😎

Why don’t you plug in a reverse camera while it’s not mounted in and see if it responds?
Looks good. And, IMO, reasonably priced, too. Thanks for sharing this.
I can see there is a space for it on the new unit, must go straight in as no adapter is provided?
ariel amp
Nice review, thanks.
Is there some form of integration with sport chrono stopwatch like in the original unit? (storing intermediate times etc.)
based on the manual released 6 months ago - it is all supported. uses all original canBus info.
@@michaelywong i gave a look to the manual and didn't find anything about the stopwatch... maybe I missed something
Gotta get this, will be in touch in the new year
Do you guys know if you can spec this unit with a leather surround? My Turbo has full leather including the PCM unit and heater controls below, so the standard grey finish shown here would look out of place. Thanks.
Same here!
No - it is only available in the colour shown in this video so far
Same issue!! The tuner volume is fine (normal) car play and Bluetooth volume SUCKS. VERY disappointing
I have a 987 Cayman S first generation and I'm very curious because I have the CDR 24 sound system with 10 speakers. If I install the PCCM Plus will I get the same features like the models with sat nav? I can't wait to have this in my Porsche!
Yes, you will it comes with the needed hardware - GPS antenna, cables, etc.
How is the JoyeAuto working out for you? I’m considering it but have yet to find an installer to do the job.
@@JuanAdam12 it’s great. Do it yourself. :)
Well done getting this out so soon. Impressed with all the integration with the dash and other settings. Does it facilitate bass and fader adjustment on Bose cars (where normally aftermarket fitments do not)?
It does indeed!
Does the PCCM plus for the 996, have the same navigation steps in the instrument cluster?
Yes it does.
@@friendsgreenporsche5234 Does the instrument cluster navigation work with CarPlay, or only the built-in sat nav?
There are two Fakra connectors visible at 12:51. Where does the beige Frakra come from? How is it to be used in conventional radio with DIN connector?
i'm ok with the exposed usb, since Ill stick a small usb stick with MP3's in there anyway
but they could have put a flap/cap over that map thingie, since nobody will ever change that on any decent frequency
and put a USB on a lead in the back so you can put it in the glove comparement with your phone, or in the center console comparement with an extension
Hi, do you have part numbers for the two antenna boosters and the module bypass lead? I'm trying to convert my Boxster 987.1 windscreen from AM/FM to DAB.
Would I need a new coax lead to the radio?
Does this completely bypasses the BOSE system amplifier? And do you ship internationally?
no it uses the BOSE , it connects to the MOST fiber network

Great video, very informative. Do you know if they are available in the USA currently?
I have a great product, wireless Carplay
Hello from California. Is the antenna amplifier included in the box? The american version doesn’t come with it. Where do you plug and place it?
I’ve got a Cayman S 987.1 2006 with Bose & Phone that I bought new, and I’ll tell you those graphics looked dated in 2006 and the GSM stopped working 11 years ago due to telecom protocol here in the USA. I hope I can find one 0:13 of these PCCM+ units because my PCM screen just fried.
Hello! Did you tried to connect a reverse (backup) camera?
What is the center set of pins used for on the lower right side of the PCCM+? There are three sets, the right side is for the AM/FM and Sirius XM, the Left Side is the Can Bus....but the center set is not used. What is it for? I have having left over parts or pieces not used!
Do they make a similar unit for the 997.2?
I have good products, with wireless Carplay, easier to install,
That looks a great unit to get an OE look, however I'd be lieing if I said I was happy with how the microphone fits and no rear USB.
That’s why none of the oem mic, gps etc is compatible
With that said this is the ONLY aftermarket unit with a 4 channel fiber optic converter - porsche may have ponied up the cash to develop this custom part.
Also kudos to how all the canBus programming is on point re native to porsche internal internal functions. Ie trip computer etc
Sorry, i've got to ask. What is MOST? I keep seeing it posted, but don't understand what it means.
@@DaisysButler Media Oriented System Transport
It's a Fibre Optic communication network for the audio system, the cars with BOSE tend to use it.
Any word on a PCCM+ release for the 997.2 cars? I'm desperate for an upgrade.

It does appear to be better amplified with more clarity to sound, which is the same with the 996 PCCM+.
