Very helpful video, hoping to install this in my 986 later this year. Fortunately mine is a 2002 so it already has the climate control unit located down below, due to the DIN-sized cupholders that sit above the radio. Also, Apple CarPlay should use the PCCM's GPS antenna when connected, not the iPhone's internal GPS, so it was a good move to install the antenna.
Thanks!!! And I'd agree - let's get this next level Porsche's updated, my 2015 Macan Turbo still doesn't have CarPlay/Android abilities....seems like an easy fix!
Thanks for watching @whoogstad - we'll be having more Porsche 996 content coming soon, summer is approaching so about to break her out! And you can't go wrong with owning a Porsche - as the tag line says...."Porsche, there is no substitute!!!" :)
Here is the one I found online - click at your own discretion as I cannot verify the link: www.manualslib.com/manual/2124437/Porsche-Pccm-Plus.html Looks to be official from Porsche but again, I cannot verify that either. Good luck!!!
@@Portie2216 Awesome! Great video! I just had mine installed by the dealership. It didn't look as nice as the instal you did though. They put the GPS antenna on the dash near the passenger side. It doesn't look great. Mine is with velcro as well. Honestly, I'm not a fan. It feels very spongy. I think after you are complete the full instal, 2 sided tape or even some glue may be the way to go.
Thorughly enjoyed your video. Many Thanks. No intension to add a PCCM+ to my 996 but it is great to learn more about the interior anantomy of my car. Perhaps may just add a Bluetooth unit to the AUX of the factory radio unit so I can play music from my Android phone. No intension to do voice call while driving. Any recommendation of a car powered bluetooth unit?
Thanks!!! Glad you enjoyed it!!! As for a Bluetooth adapter through an AUX connection, I've never tried one but I did see these two on Amazon as options: amzn.to/3VUzRq9 and amzn.to/4aHZI8P The Anker one (second link) is a little more expensive but seems like it's a little more versatile as well. Both not too bad on price. If you try one let us know how they work! Good luck!!!
Nice job and illustration of your installation. I have an ’01 C2 with the same CR-220 head unit, though mine does have the amp and CDC 6 disc changer in the “frunk”. I’ve owned the car since new and am now contemplating this PCCM+ upgrade and also doing my own install work. I’m still researching variables surrounding the amp and CD changer and mine also has the original audio boost equalizer and that currently sits where I presume the HVAC unit moves down to. I’m guessing the boost equalizer gets removed with the new PCCM+? Still trying to nail down that variable. Earned a sub here. Thanks.
Thanks so much! I remember a video on RUclips that someone else had the EQ and they did have to leave it installed but tucked it back behind the HVAC when relocated. If I can find the video I'll post the link for you! Good luck and let us know how it goes!!! I'm loving the install so far - looks and works great! Definite upgrade in my eyes.
Hey Marcus I found the video, it's for a Boxster and they call it the DSP - not sure if that is what you mean. See around 4:30 into the video they start talking about what to do with the DSP. ruclips.net/video/1TPqsKtgajw/видео.htmlsi=gkv894IP4PX0T2yC Good Luck!
That is brilliant and thanks very much for this@@Portie2216. Yes, that equalizer is the exact same piece I have in my 996 and in the same location too. Handy too because when the HVAC unit moves down the existing plastic trim surround will exactly fit the HVAC too. Given that I will not be installing an after market unit like that Pioneer, I’m wondering if Porsche has a ready-to-plug-in slot on the PCCM+ for that connector that went to the equalizer? I can’t imagine that Porsche would have you wrap the existing equalizer and then stow it behind the faceplate. Given that there is bass boost, I’m wondering too if the equalizer leads route back to the amplifier. Possible too that the equalizer is completely negated with the addition of the PCCM+. If I get all the way there, I will definitely let you know. Again, a big Canadian thank you.
Thank you!!!! And no it does not have the shelf subwoofer - it has the most basic system offered, not even door speakers. The PCCM+ does support the subwoofer systems though - along with the cd changer so you should be all set if you go that route. Good luck!
@wng0000071 - that is a good question! Looking online I did not see where a CD player or even the stock CD changer will work with the PCCM+. I did find this that says the CD Changer CDC-4 will NOT work - assets-v2.porsche.com/int/-/media/Project/PCOM/SharedSite/PorscheClassic/Product-Highlights/PCCM/Manuals/FAQ/FAQs_PCCM-Plus_9x7_E1_EN_2023.pdf Anyone else try this that can comment for @wng0000071???
I did the install, i have a 00, non MOST, although, im getting no sound. Ive tried looking at rennlist and theres some options, but it calls for a 50$ part. Before I make any more purchases May I call/ facetime you for help?
I say do it!!! Happy Birthday to YOU!!! I’m still loving the install and upgraded the speakers to stock Bose - for a base system it rocks!!! Maybe some day I’ll look into adding an amp and sub. But load enough now for top down cruisin! Good luck and let us know how it goes for you!

Thanks - hope it helps!!!
Great video, thank you for sharing! Does your 996 also have the ‘shelf’ subwoofers? If so, does the pccm also connect to them? Cheers!
