    Hi, Thank you so much for this video it helped in removal and install. I see you left the center plug between the two you plugged into the harnesses empty on the new head unit. My car had a third larger plug that plugged right into the center plug you did not have from your car, -that's odd, since yours had a navi head unit before. Mine was the basic head unit (CDR24), 4 total speakers no amps, no subs. I also just had one black plug for the antenna, and no place to plug the antenna bypass harness into at the bottom footwell. All and all everything works! You made it super easy, thanks again.

    Excellent video. Great job focusing on proper head unit locking alignment when installing the side brackets. Loved the clear explanation of the wires. Thank you for including how to remove the side panels and location of the screws and brackets. The only change would be to test it before inserting the PCCM+ all the way and reinstalling all the panels. But you probably purposely didn't during the final edit to keep the video nice and short.

    Great video, such a good product. Installed in my 987 RS60 Spyder, interestingly my car didn’t have ariel diversity, so ended up needing some extra parts from the 996 setup.

      Hi, I just did my 987 RS60 Spyder too. What extra parts do you needed?
      Also for the antenna, I only had the black connector. No yellow. Was it the same for you? Also FM reception is not very good with the black connection.
      I didn’t find the tan and black connectors underneath the carpet. Did you?
      Cheers!

    You have inspired me to install this myself. I have a couple questions if you don't mind. I was a little confused about your comment re: having a convertible and not needing a microphone. I too have a convertible, but thought a mic would be beneficial? Additionally I have a CD changer and wonder how to address this with the new unit. Thanks.

    • @DasCayman
      @DasCayman  2 месяца назад

      Thank you! And re convertible, I just think that if I'm driving 80mph with the top down trying to enjoy myself, the last thing I want to do is take a phone call, especially with all the wind. More power to you if you find that appealing :)
      Re CD changer, I believe there is not a way to still utilize the CD changer. However, check the links in my video description for possible more information on how to do that.

    Great video @DasCayman - One thing, you did not mentioned the Fiber Optic loop cable that needs to be installed in the front truck under the NAV unit.

    • @DasCayman
      @DasCayman  4 месяца назад

      Thank you. Could you briefly explain the purpose of that orange loop and what happens if it is not installed?

    • @rodl3783
      @rodl3783 4 месяца назад

      Hey @@DasCayman The PCCM+ unit comes with standard Navigation functions (a side from CarPlay). The map source for the PCCM+ is the SD card that you would insert in the front slot of the unit. In contrast, the factory unit source for the maps is the DVD NAV unit located in the front truck(if the car is equipped with it). There have been reports from car owners that the PCCM+ unit experience issues when the fiber optic loop is not installed.

      @DasCayman - here is a short video showing the location of the cable that needs to be looped. ruclips.net/user/shortsJbwA2bHpcRw?feature=share

      Thank you @@rodl3783 I spec'd my PCCM+ without the SD card navigation and am only relying on Apple CarPlay for Maps. I'll add this in my description for others. Thanks!

      I watched the short on the Fiber Optic loop but it really doesn't show what it's plugged into. Sorry, am I missing something or just can't see it. Could you please send a picture of the exact location that it's plugged into. Thank you and great video.

    Very nice. I really want this for my 987.1 Cayman S. Dealer says the car's computer needs to be reprogrammed for this new PCCM+ head unit? If that is not the case I'm going to get the part and do it myself.

      I have the same. Plug your black antenna cable directly into the top port in back of the PCCM+, where the turquoise plug goes on at 4:16 in the video. Forget the "Y" cable that's used for the black and yellow antenna connections.

    Is there an option to install a back up camera?

    • @DasCayman

      Yes, anything is possible. However the retrofitting of a backup camera to this unit is not a 5 minute install and requires some enhanced wiring and innovation.

      The 6-pin to fakra male dongle that comes with the PCCM+ seems to enable a reverse-triggered RCA camera hookup. I believe we would need a female fakra to female RCA dongle to make this happen. However, does anyone have a suggestion or video on how best to power the camera with 12v from the PCCM+ head unit or other source? I am hoping to supply 12V to camera with key ignition. Only when the PCCM+ detects the car is in reverse does the display switch to “camera mode”. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
