thx for the vid!! i used the same formula as you, but did in on a C2 convertible.. upgraded to multifunction steering wheel of same model year.. dealership and local porsche specialist mechanics told me it wouldn't work.. and that i did not have the proper wiring on my car based on the VIN. Used the foxwell 510 elite to download the MF software.. wa-lla! I may post it as well..
Thank you. Just swapped out my Alcantara wheel in my 997.2 GT3 for a leather one, and your video made it a breeze and not nearly as nerve racking as I thought it would be. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
May I ask if your airbag moves about when pushed up or down, side to side? I fitted the same wheel and the airbag clicks home but I can see the metal casing of the airbag still and the airbag itself seems strangely moveable
Fast forward to 7:00, sounds like you have one of the springs on the back plate not in pla - ruclips.net/video/xenkmqb3Orw/видео.htmlsi=fXOZko8q1azODRuB
Thanks for the great video. I have a Porsche 997. I purchased a steering wheel from a 2016 Porsche Macan 991 Very nice. The installation went OK. But the PDK paddle shifters not work. My car is a trip tonic can you please help me with what I need where I can get it and how to install what I need so that the paddle shifters will work. I took it to a mechanic but they do not know what to do with this upgrade. Hope you can help me I love the steering wheel
I have a 987.1 Cayman S, manual transmission, no multifunction. If i swapped to a manual 991 style wheel with no multifunction, do i still need the gps adapter or clockspring in order for the airbag to be functional?
Did you need to replace the Column Controller Unit? I was told I needed to buy Column Control Unit (Part 997.613.289.01)as well for this swap for my 997.1 Tip - how hard is it to install the Column Control Unit and does that need programming?
I did not because the car shown is a 997.2, however for a 997.1 you do need that part. I'm not 100% sure if it needs programming. Maybe someone else with a 997.1 can chip in?
Please let me know. I also have done the swap to my 997.1 and now my airbag light is on., I've swapped everything but that control unit . I also only have one connector that goes into the new adapter, is that correct?
Hello ! I have a 991.1 C4 cab with sports design wheel (where I have PDK shifters and lights that go off for Sport and Sport + modes and when I set it for Launch Control). That being said, can I install the same type of wheel as in your video (991.2 with controls (eventually, + heated wheel) ? If so, what do I need in terms of additional parts and programming devices if any ? Finally, what do the lights that normally turn on the wheel become ? Does the 991.2 have similar features where it’s embedded and can hardly see unless you activate such modes ? Does Changing the wheel create Piwi error codes ? Is there a risk of malfunction or worse the new wheel messing with the airbag security aspects ? Many thanks !
Hello'! i'm just swap the 997.2 steering wheel to my 2005 987.1 boxster(non multifunction), install is easy but the horn doesn't work, the foxwell coding can slove the problem or not? Thank you
Hi! Your video's have been quite useful so far. I also installed a multifunction steering wheel on my 981 (which didn't have the multifunction buttons) and added the GPS adapter in the steering wheel. I'm now trying to program the multifunction settings to activate the buttons. For this I also bought the NT510 with the Porsche software already on it. However, when I use it (after selecting my 981), I only get "diagnosis" and "special functions" but I'm not getting the third option "programming", which is what I need. Any thoughts ?
The control module unit you used in the SW; 95B.959.256. There are several part numbers with a letter at the end of that part # (F, C, E). Does it matter if that part # has a letter at the end or not. One of those letters supersedes the original part#, does that matter?
Not entirely. I installed my SW but didn’t install the new module just yet. I do plan on installing the new module and hope that when I do the SW functions work especially the tiptronic part of it.
Can I ask if the carbon on the new wheel matches the carbon you had on the 997 originally? Planning a similar mod where I have carbon in a 997.2 and wonder if they match with the new model wheel
Nice video mate, confirms we can "easily" set a 991.2/718 steering wheel on a 981/997 !

I got three 991 wheels and installed them on my 2010 Cayenne 957 and my 997.2 but the horn doesn't work using any combo.
Can you configure what the diamond button does? Is it a setting in the PCM or Foxwell?

Hello.. you think that steering wheel will fit the 996? I know the functionality of the buttons won’t work.
I learned exactly what I needed thanks buddy
Hallo,
Please, is it possible to use this steering wheel on my 2004 cayenne’s? What do I need to buy or do ? Please help !!

It seems you have a 997.1. In that case you would need the 997.2 style Clock Spring / Slip ring - ebay.to/3kjGJIE
Hello, did you ever get this sorted out? I am in a similar situation. Thanks
Do you have a similar video but then with the 992/taycan generation steering wheel?
Yes, hope it's useful - ruclips.net/video/o7HtqXdFUz8/видео.html

Can this steering wheel be fitted on 997 Gen 1.5 that has a multi function steering wheel

Great video, might just have to do this one with my 997.2 turbo very soon
what steering wheel control module did you have on this project? Was is 95B.959.256?

You would need a clock/slip ring from the 997.2 - ebay.to/3kjGJIE
Thank you so much your prompt response, if I replaced the slip ring, and than need to coding or not?
@@louispoon4495 Not sure about Boxster, but likely you won't need coding if there is no multifunction

Hi I have 987.2 and I need a smaller wheel, is this 360mm like found on the gt4?
Would this work on my 987.2 cayman

Don't take me on this, but I would think that the letter is assuming its pre-programmed in a certain way.
Did you ever figure this out?
Not entirely. I installed my SW but didn’t install the new module just yet. I do plan on installing the new module and hope that when I do the SW functions work especially the tiptronic part of it.
Hi, great video, any retrofit options for 2006 997 Tiptronic wheel? thanks
I have same problem
The PDK will NOT work on upgrades
In that case you would need the 997.2 style Clock Spring / Slip ring - ebay.to/3kjGJIE
Will this work for a 987 ?
Hi, I did a swap on my 958, I'm stock on the programming part. where do you find the code? 16 digits code required
We did not require a code using the Foxwell scanner
Amazing. Thank you 🙏
Can I ask if the carbon on the new wheel matches the carbon you had on the 997 originally? Planning a similar mod where I have carbon in a 997.2 and wonder if they match with the new model wheel
Very similar in color and about weave I guess the steering wheel has to be done differently due to the curve.
Hi what would I need for a 997.1 - apart from the GPS adapter - I have a Macan 2016 used wheel to fit - thanks in advance
You would need the 997.2 style Clock Spring / Slip ring - ebay.to/3kjGJIE
This link does not work?
Does this work on 997.1?
Yes it is the same, except you need an updated slip ring. More info on our website, link shared in the description above.
the leather par on the frip is fk up why ?
It was fresh from the upholster and just needed some sun
Thats awesome, mine actually has the MF option but I need to get that GPS adapter 👍🏼
To bad the leather isn't really tight on the wheel. Otherwise good job.
Actually it was still new when I made this video, with the sun it has made it into position quite nicely.
Hi there I have a 997.2 with a sport Design alcantara wheel and want a leather wheel. Whats my best bet and where can I find one? Thanks
Have you tried ebay - ebay.to/2N2ZjbC ?
Looks great except the steering wheel is on the wrong side. 😂
I thought if you bought the gps adapter, you didnt need coding for buttons to work?!
You only need coding if your original wheel did not have multi function.
How much is the GPS adapter?
I do not have buttons just PDK paddle shifters what do I need to do to have them work on my 997 trip tonic?
