A perfect gift for goth parents.

Wish Vincent Price could have narrated this before he died, that would have added to the whole outlook of this classic...
Good choice, but I was thinking Boris Karloff.
Now you get get AI to do the voice of Vincent Price reciting this poem.
I love how some are brutal like Kate, or where you see the fear of impending doom like Xerxes and then there are Nevil, who dies of boredom and Leo, who's just sitting there like: ''Well, shit.''
Tbh, Leo is a mood
The one of Hector was the one that really creeped me out.
The drawing reminded me of a news article I heard once, about a little boy who was strangled to death with a sock by a couple of burglars who entered his home while his parents were away.
I feel like it's implied that Nevil jumped out of th window
@@oppressionsimulatorgotyedi9009 I also think it may not have been the ennui itself that cause Neville's death
@@daviviana8016To be fair, I think that it wasn’t Ennui, but something else that starts with a D.
As scary as it is, I actually kind of liked it😂
Same!! xD

I remember reading his books in elementary school. Thank God I had a reading problem back then.
Something must be really wrong at that that school to have this book
Actually I read this book too!
The music just makes this 10 times scarier. 😹
Alexandra Hillard I love Beethoven
(This is my mom account)
Teacher: A is for..
Everybody: Apple
Me: Amy who fell down the stairs.
Me: Aber who drowned in a pool
Abby who was ashes because of a axe
Alice who went insane from wonderland
Who else is here from Jessii v’s video
Edited: I didn’t realize so many people were gunna like and comments on this😂

I bought this book for my daughter years ago when she was 7, and we read it often. We both got the humor, and laughed....she can still recite most of it, as can I. Great illustrations too!
This man never ceases to amaze.
Awwww how cute
I’m sorry, YOU READ THIS TO YOUR 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER????
@kjqueen1858 😂 She is now 21 years old and is a well adjusted adult somehow, she always managed to see the humour in it.
She loves it still.
@@wombatcarebundanoon942 oh ok 👍🏼 😂
Also gave this to my daughter: no regrets and much laughter
He's like if Edgar Allan Poe and Ronald Dahl was mixed with Dr. Seuss
This is gross
Morbid
Scary
Not sutible for children
I LOVE IT
Darn this book is so so so dark why was this allowed for kids😧.
One of my friends said that she recited the alphabet in kindergarten,as the Gashley Crumb Tinies.
The teacher called her mother.
She only wanted to tell her that Angela might like Edgar Allen Poe.
Wonderful artist with a unique and macabre sense of humor.
My parents own a big poster of this. It never seemed to fit in because of how happy they were.
That's the contrastual-beauty.
Although others had more painful, lasting deaths, the pictures for Clara and Kate are the most haunting.
My favorite is the unsuspecting Fannie.
Neville is most sad.
Personally, I used to have these books by Edward Ardizzone, a series about a boy called Tim. Anyway, every double page had beautiful illustrations. One would be in colour, then black and white, etc. In "Tim and Charlotte", the black and white picture of Charlotte when she's becoming "pale and thin" from unhappiness, that's far scarier than Clara, although it's similar, because I guess they're both wasting away. The colour picture doesn't make Charlotte look so horrifying (if you're wondering, she washed up on seashore with a lifebelt and Tim's family took her in, then her nurse took her home and she missed Tim and life by the shore so much that she started wasting away and they let her go back and she got healthy and happy again).
Brings me back to childhood. I would always make my mom read this book to me as a bedtime story because I liked the art a lot and I thought it was so cool.
It is funny how easy it is to remember the words to this story. I'm sure there are people who can recite it word for word.
Just realized this is the inspiration for the song A Gorey Demise by Creature Feature...
slutty mcsexbutts thank you for mentioning creature feature I’ve been trying to remember that name
OMG THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeee
That's why it's spelled the way it is.
Halfway through the video I actually started to hum the tune of it lol
This Mid-Atlantic accent warms the cockles of my cold, dead heart...
Everything was fine til that girl just HAD to be "struck by an axe"...As a 10 year old who never actually gets scared , that part got me tripped up
K is for Kate who got struck by an axe
Me:K MY NAME STARTS WITH A K!!!!!!
K is for Kyla who got a like from me :)
OMG YOUR NAME STARTS WITH A LETTER TOO!? I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE!!!!
my name starts with i
@@sawyer1421 your so sweet
I used to like Monlight Sonata......(the song in the background) *WELP PEOPLE CHANGE OVER TIME!*
I think I may have a new favorite author. It's pretty morbid, however I'm not complaining. Good read, Andrew.
Next, you should show a clip of Christopher Walken reading three little pigs.
+Korey Burger Thats great the whole point of this video was to educate people about edward gorey.
+deusdeacon its good your bring his name the attention it deserves. from what I've just read it seems he's more like a modern day Edgar Allen Poe. Since I too is into art, I instantly admired his illustrations.
I think the more you read the book, the more questions you have about the children and you feel this unsettling vibe. He was a great writer and I'll continue to look further into his work.
Thank You.
+Korey Burger You're very welcome.
I'm so glad I bought the physical book of this, I actually think it's so cool
The perfect gift, for parents---in general ....!!!
Because I saw this I ordered the book for my kids. They enjoyed the illustrations very much.
Awesome! I bought a lunchbox with the artwork and poem on it for $1 when I was in Branson a few years ago. Thanks for this as no one I know has heard of this.
This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen
I imagined how would these look irl.........hello nightmares, goodbye dreams about anime :'D
I don't know Death note would seem like an appropriate anime to dream about.
We are doing this in my drama class 😂
surely there are better examples of drama then a book just meant to be a parody and a morbid joke
A massive part of my childhood, I've loved this book since I was around six. Bloody brilliant.
I’m literally here from Jessi V

You should do more of this. I love Edward Gorey's art.
I remember my grandpa reading this to us and this gives me so much nostalgia

How I love this
Creeped me out cuz it’s night
I have the reaper, the kids, and the tombstones tattooed on my leg. I love GoreyArt.

Amazing
子供達の死に方までABCで合わせているわけではないけれど、きれいにリズムを合わせて韻を踏んで詩になっていますね。
様々な死に方で、毎日、人が死んでいく。
淡々とそれを見つめるゴーリーの目を感じました。
Lovely little macabre masterpiece 🖤 Well done
Wtf
FANTASTIC. ... as always.
Caitie is my name and it said Kate was struck by an axe, I was murdered In my past life. Creepy.
My name is Katie, too.
How perfectly delightful.
Nice, nice book right here. Very educational. I'm gonna read this to my future children.
My language arts teacher was how I discovered this. She had us all have a character (except kate because she said these people were invited to Kate's 8th birthday) and we were supposed to write a story about what happened to each character.....a classmate had prue and wrote about gin and 8 year olds assassinating each other. Nobody believed his story. Then we found out about zilla.
I had some nice nightmares after all those stories were shared. now when I think of the alphabet I think of this :)
Surprising that this is a children's book. It's pretty dark.
This is freaking messed up and it’s actually scary....!!😰
Love this ❤
This is the most metal book you can get for kids
love this
Teacher: K is for...
Class: Kitty!
Me: K is for Kate who was struck with an axe.
hahhahahhhaa :3
I just love this. It makes me laugh. Am I terrible? Am I going to hell? Like, shared and subscribed! :)
Beautiful
I've got the book too. This is fabulous, really well done, thank you! What about the Willowdale Handcar, that's a sinister little volume...
0:54 Hi SiStErS
Lmao
My uncle got me a shirt with the Gashlycrumb Tinies, and today I decided to find out what the heck that was. Interesting.
Amazing
I like this
An amazing book to be sure
Inspiring!
I regret never buying it. When i was growing up i used to go to this bookstore in seattle and read this everytime i went like tradition.
I would've adored this as a kid.
Oh I remember reading this to my lovely nephew every night.
Edward Gorey is my Norman Rockwell.
love this book
I gave this as a poster to a girlfriend for Xmas. She adored it.
Honestly this can also be taken as kind of a cautionary tale. To watch your kids, they can do and get into things that could hurt them.
Why did I enjoy that?
I actually want this book😂
I loved this book as a kid, but Q traumatized me the most
So sad but so good
Year ago, my sister found this book in her office break room with a post-it on it the said, “Free, PLEASE TAKE ME.” Because I like creepy shit, she took it and gave it to me. I thought it was awesome at first but then started having horrible nightmares every night for weeks, and the guy in the cover was always in them. I had to get rid of the book but I still think about it a lot.
This book is a masterpiece
Why do I like this book
Why is no one talking about hector like he was strangeled by a thug for no reason
This is how both of my kids learned their ABC's.
Perfection. 💀
Bro I love this book lol
I Need this book TvT
No joke
I want this
I'll remember this book I used to read it when I was seven or eight in School I used to try to read it but I didn't know how to read but I used to love this book and that's how I make friends in school soooo ?
If I were Zillah, I would also be guzzling gin.
Here from The Grumps new Danganronpa vid
The fact that my name is Ida definitely would give me nightmares
you’ll be fine, just stay away from large bodies of water
Yes this is the book ever!
It is indeed, The book !
I love it its so Scary and dark 🖤🖤🖤
My mom had the poster of this. She wanted to get rid of it because how torn it was, but used a role of packaging tape to fix it.
only Gorey could do this so well
This is the only book that I've kept through 11 moves in the last 16 years.
B is for Brianna who got shocked by a book
I feel no fear in this
I like this Idk why
I'm gonna read this book to my children when I grow up to turn into me
Hey I can do it for you if you show them this video.
I'm singing this to my friends
I love this book. Its. It scary at all
Game Over Tinies

This was in my parents house and I read this a lot when I was Little
When it sed "K is for Kate who was struck with an axe" i went wow.. Dat sad 😳😳
It’s just very dark humor that can be appreciated by adults
Genial.
I watched this at my school in my art class
