Wow, all the work you put in this car was really worth it, thank you once again for having been part of this project, I really enjoyed it a lot and we had a lot of fun, thank you my brother, I hope to be able to do many more projects with you.
I'm so glad you guys are showing how tedious and time consuming each step of the process is. Hopefully viewers wanting their vehicle painted, will better appreciate why a quality paint job is so expensive . . . . ie: labor is expensive plus lots of tape, masking paper, sandpaper etc. Thanks for the ongoing video series 👍
(WARNING: I've never painted a car, ever) This entire series, so far, has shown me how important prep is. The actual shooting of the various coats (primer+body work, sealer, base, clear) is so little of the time represented. Masking appears to be the step where the devil's in the details, and these details were thoroughly explained. You taught me what there is to know about back masking, and why it's so important. I love the scenes where the masking comes off!! Thanks, am looking forward to episode 6!
I watched a bunch of your videos and painted basecoat and clearcoat for the first time. It turned out amazing. Using your tips on setting up the gun, prepping and spraying I got a totally decent result for a fraction of the price of a body shop. Thanks
Thanks again, Paint Society, for this pure-gold-material. I'm getting ready for my second Complete Paint Job at my home garage thanks to you guys, and I have to admit: a recap of all the process helps a lot! Thumbs-up from Romania 🇷🇴🌎🇺🇸👍🚘👨🔧
Awesome 👏 video Brian you and scorpion 🦂 take that job too a next level the masking was over and above spot on you hit the nail on the head with that video I will watch it again for my self lol 😂 much love too you and scorpion you guys have it lock 🔐 and a big thanks 🙏 for that video Brian enjoy your afternoon 🙏🙏🙏🔐🔐🔐👏👏👏👍👍👍👍😎😎💯💯💯🦂🦂🦂
I was taught to use 1” masking tape for all the initial masking then use the paper roll with the tape on it to mask everything else. I really loved spraying cars, that feeling when you take the masking paper off and you see the finished product, sweeeeeeeeet Ps….. That’s a beautiful fan spray, making me want to start painting again lol 😝 Pps…..we always started on the roof and worked our way down. Ppps….this is really therapeutic for me watching you work.
Thanks for this video Paint society. I'm about to paint a Civic Si just like this one to silver in 2 days and this is a big help and guide for the assignment. God bless you man.
This is such a cool channel I bought a decent compresser a few years back before a car wreck messed me up,but I f I can get some painting gear this year 🙏would be nice 😀 thanks for all the videos man You know I have a 77 dodge power wagon that I might sell never wrecked I have had it for 23 years,it could use a home ,good paint base no major dents a little body rust very little .Anyway I am n New Mexico USA 🇺🇸 .🤘🎸🎛👋
All ur videos sick coming out of nj I stay watching soon gonna do my fleet 93 mustang 86 rx7 turbo and 99 sc400 Lexus all cars mint just need a little tlc on paint engine bays flawless got lucky
Brian can I request a full paint video from your start to finish including the mistakes I believe its thes way for us to learn from mistakes thanks brother 🙏
Thank you for this series! Very timely for me. You mixed 60 oz of sealer and 128 oz base for the complete job. Are those the reduced, sprayable product amounts? How much additional should I mix if I'm not a skilled sprayer like you!? 🙂
I'm just sanding, priming, painting, and clear coating the badly peeling passenger and driver window pillars/frames on 2010 Civic - nowhere else in the car. Where you have a foam around the door jams I have the rubber gaskets on the door (that I think I see hanging loose in the video) and at the bottom of the window. What do you recommend to mask the windows with the rubber in-place? Great series BTW!
Nice video. I'm at this stage now, so it was good to watch. When you back-mask, then lay paper or plastic, I see you then tape the front side. What is the reason for doing that, to ensure the seal? And for spraying the sealer with one person, you say to start at the bottom, go up, and then back down, so go over the same areas twice?
I would like to see more videos where you explain costs of materials , cost of prep and labor . overall what a painter or myself should be charging for these kinds of jobs. $$$
Hey Brian Thanks for you videos I used to paint commercial vehicles now I cater to disabled veterans since I’m one myself but my question is I used to use sata but now I’m using iwata but I just purchased a tekna clear coat gun what do you think I was using the super nova for clear but I also have ws400 and LPH 400 Thanks Billy
I had a small burn through (thin 2 inch down to metal ) while buffing a door panel. Can I just apply some sealer to this small burn through or must i apply etching primer / putty first?
Probably every painters nightmare but u should totally do a patina (faux-tina) paint job. That would be awesome to see your take on it. I say nightmare because most painters i know are meticulous and want the paint to be perfect.
Your videos have encouraged me to try and paint my car. I was wondering if you have any recommendations on where to buy the primer, paint and clear. I am looking to repaint it Milano Red, thanks for your help and awesome videos!
Great video. You guys cover a lot of info. Question, can you provide the information about the foam tape. I would love to try to paint my car at home and all of this information is so useful.
Great video bro i have a question for a 1.4 mm nozzle tip what psi is for base coat and clear coat im new and i want to learn i hope hear from u? thanks
Hi, good job guys. Very therapeutic to see paint being applied and getting a good finish and outcome.Just wondering how long to wait between base coat to clear coat?
Hi! Great videos. Been watching for a while now. I am in the Los Angeles area and have some questions. I am doing most of the prep work outside in my driveway. I am sanding down some areas with 60 grit, bondo, and building it back up with 100, 150, 220 grit. From there I will get the entire car with 220, and 320. So my quetsion is can I do a final round of 400 grit, wash the car, and tow it to the paint booth, clean, mask and tape, clean, and hit it with primer, base coats, and clear?
Been binging your videos the last couple of days being stuck at home with covid. How much paint did you use to cover the car after the sealer? love your vids been enjoying them alot. thanks for all help to the painting community.
I've always had a hard time with dryspots on the top and hood when using clear, even with slow act. I always have to break car/truck up into 2 parts.vTrunk, top, hood, let cure. Then mask over and do rest of vehicle. Any suggestions on this?
Do you ever have any problems with the color matching when you paint panels and such at different times?? And any advice or tricks to making sure they match when you spray them at different times like you did in this video. Thanks for any help and advice.
I noticed you always say to wipe in one direction but then you go ahead and wipe in both directions like you're washing a window. Lol! It must be incredibly hard to fight the urge to wipe in both directions, I can't do it either. I'm soaking up all the knowledge I can in preparation to paint my truck. I feel like I'm enrolled in PSU (paint society university).
Hi Brian! The car came out amazing, I love it 😍. I have a simple question - how much time after the last coat of clear must pass to peel the tape? Once part of my clear coat peeled with the tape 😔. I think because I left it for 24 hours to get dry.
A question regarding "water based" cleaner - for example, the same "SprayWay Glass Cleaner" you suggest to use for this purpose is actually "denaturated alcohol", so, as I see it - its alcohol based, not water based. Can you, please, elaborate on what you mean when you say "water based" and how does that fit into with what I'm saying (or maybe I'm misunderstanding something)? Thanks
Thanks for the nice video. Just a query, I have a 2008 Honda Civic Taffeta White, the paint is a single stage one and not very great. Can I get it a clear coat to increase the life? While polishing the color transfers to the pad.
Hey Brian, another great job and video. May I ask 2 questions please? How do I know what is the correct pressure for my gun to spray metallic basecoat, what do I look for? What are the respirators you are using, filter type etc.? Many thanks from the UK!
I appreciate these videos a lot! I’ve been following along trying to learn a new skill with this series! Is spraying the sealer an absolutely necessary step prior to start laying the base coat? Or can you lay your base coat on top of the prepped and sanded gray urethane surfacer and skip the sealer step altogether? Thanks a lot for these helpful vids!
Thanks for another great video! It might just be how it looks, but that 1st layer of clear looked a lot thicker than I normally see you put down. Was there anything about this paintjob that made that possible? This one's a weird question, but have you ever had to deal with condensation dripping from your 3m respirator? I find that if I work with it for more than around 30 minutes with one of those masks, condensation starts to form when I exhale and it can drip out of the mask's exhaust port.
Try bicycle frames. Small areas, cheap if second hand, some tricky inside corners for learning and you do not need much paint. I started like that using a 0,8mm Mini-gun, 2K UHS, pearl-pigments. You can do this everywhere and anytime.
Sorry for the newbie question.. But I know when you are putting the paint on you do lots of separate thinner coats, letting it flash off in between. This prevents lots of build up of different thicknesses of paint and runs etc. But I notice that when you put on the clear coat you would make quite a few passes back and forth on the same area. Is clear coat a lot for forgiving than paint?
Wow, all the work you put in this car was really worth it, thank you once again for having been part of this project, I really enjoyed it a lot and we had a lot of fun, thank you my brother, I hope to be able to do many more projects with you.

What gun was Pedro using for clear?

Yellow tape and marking paper same links..great job by the way

No need too. Spray it the way you want it to look 😀

So if you weren’t using sealer would you sand to 600 then 800? Instead of just sanding to 400 and spraying the sealer then base/clear.
