@@mediumtext8038 I mean ikaris disperses huge cloud simply by flying, which is island level, superman in the dceu’s greatest feat is large mountain and massively hypersonic+ (which is impressive) but makkari who ikaris can tag and grab in super speed, was showing relativistic to relativistic+ feats, the beam at the tree is actually easy to explain, we know ikaris can change the intensity and power of his beam (since he holds back a LOT on his fellow eternals) and he didn’t wanna kill the deviant at that point to further his plan.
1:55 - 2:14 I love the struggle between them as he tries to get an angle, how frantic it is and uncoordinated compared to how he usually fights so smoothly
His flight scenes are so fluid, the fight scenes are amazingly shot too! I love the fact that he uses a lot of his heat vision something that Superman never really does much. Hope there will be a sequel in the future.
The way his death was done is one of the best scenes. Flying too close to the sun like the mythological Icarus, a parallel to Superman, and works well with one of his opening scenes being framed in front of the sun.
I actually hope he’s still alive (his “death” technically wasn’t on screen) I actually really liked watching his character I feel like if they keep him he can have a chance to have a really good character development story
In a way, the Eternals betrayed him and Celestials too. They have been helping Arishem to bring up new Celestials and all of the sudden they suddenly stopped and forced Ikaris to do so. It's about perspective. That's what I like about this movie.

Ikaris's flying on-screen is the best flying I've ever seen in any film. Kudos to Richard Madden. I also must say his scene at 1:55 is CRAZY intense. It was amazing.
I’m the comics, Ikaris took his namesake from his mortal son, who wanted to fly just like his father, so Phastos built a set of wings for him. But he flew out too high on his own, accidentally suffocating to death in the atmosphere. Kinda wish they kept that plotpoint, would play into why Ikaris has no qualms about killing humanity with the Emergence. He already lost his chance to connect with them.
he couldn't connect with humanity bcuz he isolated himself when Ajak told him the truth as to not tell the others plus I think he didn't want to have an emotional connection that would hinder his mission
Ikaris is one of my favorite characters and I loved this entire movie! All the characters were pretty awesome! I just like Ikaris the most, although I do wish he had not killed Ajak. He became a blind fanatic, but that was all he seemed to be trained to do. I still wish he had made better choices, but how could we have had such amazing fight scenes without his rebellion? I'm surprised this is from Marvel. Way to go Marvel! This was a well done film!!
I personally feel that he did great killing Ajak even he didn't wanted to. Because she was the only reason he didn't lived his life with Sersi, kept telling lie and never had a chance to understand the humanity on Earth. People think Ajak was Innocent, but she was the main reason that he betrayed his family. that's why, she deserves to get killed.
I really just want a 10 minute compilation of Makkari beating Ikaris’ to the ground. If Chloe Zhao had just added another 5-10 minutes, I would have been so satisfied. I know Ikaris is technically stronger, but it didn’t take away my satisfaction just seeing the “villain” get their butt kicked like that.
The writing and directing might be meh but the VFX are top notch for this movie. Every power is super fun to watch, specifically the laser eyes and flight. I love how the powers look like a reflex instead of how they usually look so high-effort for the character using them, as you'd expect people who have existed for thousands of years to use them. The fact that Icarus only stays on the ground when he's around other people or when he's using it for leverage in a close up fight is a nice touch, and how he slowly floats back or up without kicking off of the ground is an even nicer touch. We ease into walking, so why would we be any different while flying? His constant use of the laser eyes is also pretty realistic, because it's the most powerful weapon in his arsenal, and many heroes in these movies tend to ignore their best powers at the convenience of the plot. Very well done character in terms of visuals and fighting styles.
Few months later, we're not gonna talk about how Makkari broke the fucking sound barrier with enough force to send Ikaris flying backwards by *stopping*

Well there is a matter of perspective on whether or not the celestials are right in their cause or not, but Ikaris definitely betrayed the Eternals. He killed Ajak, their leader, and proceeded to lie about it to his teammates. After that, he decided that he was willing to kill Makkari, simply for knowing the location of the Tiamut. He also decided to lie to his own wife about their mission, and then lied when he said he didn’t know the deviants were back in the beginning of the movie. Whether or not he chose the right or wrong side, he was definitely a traitor to his team. He didn’t trust them, lied to them about multiple issues, killed one of their teammates and then attempted to kill the rest.
@@ElizabethsLizard And the main reason behind all this is Ajak. What he did with Ajak was totally Correct(Still he didn't wanted to).
what i see, all eternals had durable body compare to normal human... druig, makkari already attacked by ikaris eyes beam but still... no major injured, just feel pain
There appeared to be a degree on built-in immunity to each others powers. I mean the entire movie is about an hour long is Druig's powers worked on the other Eternals.
but kingo got scratches after he protect makkari,i think thats durability came from thes suit, ikaris can destroy domo but his laser doesn’t kill makkari and druig with suit,so eternals suit probably more stronger than vibranium suit and ironman suit
I think it's because he's an all rounder, for example Kingo it's a long distance fighter and Gilgamesh has his hand to hand strenght while Ikaris has both options, I'd like to think that he's just balanced and Gilgamesh's is physically stronger than him and that Kingo's beams are more powerful than his but the movie put him in a pedestal and I kinda hate that there is such an inmense power gap between him and the others.

Ikaris was one of the only highlights of the film for me. Him and the first act of the movie I enjoy most.
I love how he fights. As soon he see an enemy he puts non stop pressure on them.
Him: "Staring contest?"
Me: "Nope."
If The Boys had a higher budget, this is how I imagine Homelander fighting. Mostly heat vision spam and punches.
3:58 Druig is gone
Makkari: activating instant kill

true, but she still had him on the ropes for a bit with just her pure speed

I really just want a 10 minute compilation of Makkari beating Ikaris’ to the ground. If Chloe Zhao had just added another 5-10 minutes, I would have been so satisfied. I know Ikaris is technically stronger, but it didn’t take away my satisfaction just seeing the “villain” get their butt kicked like that.
honestly this movie’s vfx was the best in all of phase 4
Yup
I thought the directing was incredible
The way his heat vision sounds it’s so satisfying
Few months later, we're not gonna talk about how Makkari broke the fucking sound barrier with enough force to send Ikaris flying backwards by *stopping*

Well there is a matter of perspective on whether or not the celestials are right in their cause or not, but Ikaris definitely betrayed the Eternals. He killed Ajak, their leader, and proceeded to lie about it to his teammates. After that, he decided that he was willing to kill Makkari, simply for knowing the location of the Tiamut.
Also his flying can help to put the opponents in a situation that they aren't able to fight properly but he can
