Ikaris was the former tactical leader of the community of genetically-engineered Eternals. Created by the Celestials in the World Forge, Ikaris and his fellow Eternals were sent to Earth in 5000 BC to progress the planet's societal development and protect it from the Deviants. Ikaris learned early on of his true purpose to help initiate the Emergence for the birth of Tiamut the Communicator, believing Earth and humanity to be a necessary sacrifice for more life to be created in new galaxies. While on his mission, he grew a close relationship with fellow Eternal Sersi and eventually married her.
In 2023, heralded of the Emergence due to the Blip, Ikaris decided to betray and murder the Prime Eternal, Ajak, when she began opposing Arishem's plan, being inspired by the heroic efforts of the Avengers to undo the Snap. Feigning ignorance on Ajak's fate, Ikaris helped reassemble the other Eternals in preparation for the Emergence, but was singled out when they learned of their true purpose and opposed Arishem's plan as well. When the revelation of Ajak's death came to light and the team became divided on whether or not to protect humanity, Ikaris betrayed his friends. However, he was outmatched by his former allies, who were able to kill Tiamut and effectively avert the Emergence. Guilt-ridden over his actions and having failed to live up to his life's purpose, Ikaris committed suicide by flying into the Sun.

The fact Ikaris didn't instantly disintegrate when he flew close to the Sun suggests he's extremely durable. It's difficult to analyze the Eternals without power scaling but not impossible, as Key Issues' video analysis aptly demonstrates. Awesome job, guys! Y'all never disappoint.

Does durability differ for example like wonderwomen or thor they can both be stabbed and stuff bit tank hits from hulk superman doomsday etc wouldn't that jst mean he more energy or heat resistant than then say he has crazy durability ?

@@RequiemMasses I read and heard about the story of ikaris way back when I was a little kid in like the early 2000s it was a fundamental story back then and all children in early grades would have to read it or listen to it, it’s cool how they make the little stuff from back in the day mainstream
They really did a good job of portraying how powerful he is, the others really did seem hopeless against him even though he wasn't even really trying to kill any of them, except perhaps for Druig, who he clearly doesn't like much lol

Funny enough in that fight the director was just showing how durable strong and powerful ikaris is because u can tell he wasn't fighting back he was just taking any attack's that comes his way if he was fighting them they wouldn't have landed much attacks on him just like the way he handled thena in the ship so quick and thena is massive powerful also

I always thought of Vision being capable of reaching that same level in power but since he was more interested in becoming human he never really tried to develop his power… in contrast to Ultron, who fully embraced the Visions power as seen in What If and just wrecked the avengers afterwards.
One thing I feel always needs to be mentioned is that ikaris is technically still alive. We saw that even as he got extremely close to the sun not a single bit of damage was seen on him and not to mention the fact that he is artificial meaning he can be recreated with an exact copy which technically makes him immortal aswell. Ikaris could be and is actually highly likely to still be alive but everyone just seems to think he is dead plus I mean if arishem really wanted to he could just poof him back

As stated since the eternals really haven't been in other movies it would be tough to compare & contrast them to others in the mcu. I do feel the Eternals benefit from being a later movie vs other movies. So stat wise he can be faster then Thor, Carol etc.. I believe it's mainly due to the eternals being later introduced..So basically I'm saying If Makkari was made during early phases she would be fast as quicksilver was. I feel Thor & the other top tiers will all be narratively on Ikaris level or a little higher..

I agree but remember this, Eternals can exceed where all else are limited. Look at how Apocalypse and Xavier required a machine to amplify mind link where an eternal simply can mind meld the entire planet, animals and all to their bidding. Now imagine that imagine other eternals power scales? It's just ridiculous to imagine any top tier being immune to that. No fight at all. It's gg on sight.

They have hax abilities that make it more interesting, but Wonder Woman, Superman, and Flash are faster and Stronger as a matter of fact below anyone not ikaris and I have a hard time seeing Ikaris beating Wonder Woman let alone superman

Druig solos
Interestingly, Ikaris's eyebeams are hot enough to melt volcanic rock and steel, which puts them between 2400-2501 degrees Fahrenheit. The surface of the sun is about 9941 degrees Fahrenheit. So his beams are about 1/4 as hot as the surface of the sun. Eternals seem to be pretty heat resistant. Thena got splashed with lava and was fine.
Alternatively, his eye beams don't deal damage through heat but by using power cosmic to straight up (but not that quickly) disintegrate matter upon impact. So it doesn't need to be hot to do that. The other eternals can just be resistant due to having power cosmic of their own to counter that.
@@shadowstrider5033 i guess it depends on the interpretation. Comics Ikaris' eye beams are called heat vision by him and other eternals, so i'm more inclined to agree with the original comment

The Hulk wins but it ain't nearly as easy as people think because Thena is definitely going to get some good strikes in that would probably take out any other foe but it's the Hulk he'd definitely win in the end. As for Thor though he better watch out because I genuinely think if he isn't on his A game or he underestimated Thena she has a chance. But seeing that Thor obviously knows the Eternals and admired them when he was young he knows what Thena can do so I don't think he would underestimate her so threw sheer power he'd most likely win.

Yes, it totally looks much better than red beam. Even if we see, all the heroes who shoot beams, Most of that heroes beam is of red colour. I guess Chloe Zhao even thought of that and thought of using something different this time. She really did.
I think it’s worth mentioning that Ikaris is presumed killed by the sun, while Thor had to take the full power of a Star to create his new hammer. Granted the dwarf said that Thor needed the hammer to survive, but he wasn’t absolutely obliterated by the star. Now I’m now sure if the star at the forge was at full power or not, but I think it’s worth considering.
So to me it seems like Thor is at least more durable than Ikaris. Also when considering that Thor took a beating from Thanos (who we now know is an eternal) and survived.
Ye Thor can take being hit by a power of a dwarf star, but when somebody like iron man shoots him with his repulsers he gets clapped, Marvel and DC have the most inconsistent power. I mean thor could take a dwarf star for a couple of seconds but not a single punch from thanos WITHOUT the power stone.
Thor literally would’ve died if he took 2 more seconds of that blast.

I think Ikaris will return and he will be a good guy in the second movie. I hope we get Hyperion in Eternals 2. They could easily introduce Hyperion in the MCU. Just make him Ikaris's much stronger brother. You can say that Ikaris is Omni-Man to Hyperion's Thragg and they're related, just like how Starfox is related to Thanos and that's how you role Hyperion into the MCU. Now imagine 2 of Marvel's versions of Superman in the MCU. And what's even crazier is that in Marvel Comics there are more Superman copycats (Gladiator, Blue Marvel and Sentry).
I’d like to see Blue Marvel the most because I’d like to see him and Carol form the Ultimates with MAC.
@@Hardmanferdead Yeah that would be cool. Plus since Marvel is going woke why not have Blue Marvel be the gold standard of the MCU. He could play a massive role in the MCU if they get his character and story right. In the comics his character is super interesting, he's one of the most powerful characters in Marvel Comics, he has a tragic backstory and he's one of the smartest characters in Marvel Comics. He's the total package of what Kevin Feige wants right now. The MCU needs Blue Marvel big time.

Funny enough I was thinking about this, u know Hyperion is an Eternals also, I was thinking maybe if the MCU could do a solo movie/series of ikaris and introduce Hyperion, u know Hyperion is a antihero he could be the villian of ikaris solo movie or series because the two have fought in the comic before and ikaris defeated him, I wish marvel take the eternals series, if not because of the hate to the eternals marvel should have announce something about the eternals, or maybe they're waiting for he right time, and funny enough ikaris can't be dead because now that the eternals are on a rescue mission if ikaris his dead and arishem made him again he will be more rogue because he don't have his memories and he will fight the eternals again and that not happening that to tell u his not dead he might happen in a movie before eternals sequel, and am 100% sure marvel have plans for ikaris solo movie but it gonna take time maybe 2024
@@russ_pop I wouldn't mind that. But I actually really liked the Eternals movie. Infact it is the most underrated MCU movie in my opinion. I don't understand why people hated the movie. It had everything. Characters, action, drama, stakes and lore on the Marvel cosmology. This movie is definitely better than a huge chunk of the MCU films in the past. It definitely better than the Ant-Man films, Iron-Man 2 and 3, Captain Marvel, Thor 1 and 2, Avengers Age Of Ultron and Shang Chi. People should really watch this film again because this film is a hidden gem and I think people will realize in the future. The only negative about this movie was the deviants themselves. I really hope we get a sequel in Phase 5 or 6 and hopefully Hyperion will be in the film. My dream casting for Hyperion is Henry Cavill because reasons.

Light is energy though, so it being an energy blast does not mean it isn't light speed. Infact realistically there are only 2 options, either it's a plasma blast, or it's some sort of light based blast. Of the two options, plasma is based on heat, light is based on pure energy, so it is more likely than not that it is a light based attack.

Gilgamesh can still be the strongest but ikaris can be the most powerful strength is just one facet of power theres also speed, intelligence, abilities, techniques, and skill to consider not just strength alone
The difference is that it Gilgamesh is incomplete. He lacks some durability, speed, flight and overall balance. He is indeed strong but strength without abilities is like incomplete.
Ikaris has always been described as the strongest warrior of the eternals. The movie nerfed him to damn near criminal levels.

Another great power scaling video. Now imagine if MCU hasn't nerfed Sersie. Just imagine if Sersie had all the abilities like she had in comics. I think MCU will give her powers boost in future.

They boosted her power in the middle of the movie, at 1st she couldn’t manipulate living things after she becomes the prime eternal she manipulated a deviant.
Marvel has multiple " supermen" if we are talking about power set:
Hyperion, sentry, gladiator etc.
But I think the true marvel superman is Capt America. Honorable, kind, brave, and the general moral compass of marvel

There's one good explanation for why Ikaris is made to be more powerful... Arishem knows he's the most loyal Eternal. If anything Ikaris is a possible sleeper agent in the event the other Eternals go rouge. Why else make an Eternal so much more loyal and powerful. 🤷🏻♂️

At a sustained 10m/s^2 acceleration, he can reach the sun in about 48 hour at a speed of about 0.5% of c (c is the speed of light). If we are generous and say that he can accelerate at mach speed per second (343m/s^2), then he can reach the sun in about 8.2 hour at a speed of about 3.4% of c.
This feat is also an outlier since it happened after he was part of the uni mind, something that gave Sersi the ability to turn Sprite into a human so logically it also gave Ikaris some sort of boost.
10:33 And where in that fight was makkari was travelling faster than supersonic speed? Do you see any kind of ignition of air that would indicate her moving at hypersonic speed or above? Throughout the entire movie she has never used anything beyond supersonic speed in a combat scenario and has only shown speed beyond that while traveling around the world.
This a late answer, but take in count that Sersi was the main part in the execution of the plan to stop Tiamut because she is the one who has the particular and specific ability to affect matter. So, Sersi is the one who had to focus the power of the uni mind in order to stop the merge. The possibility of she being the only one of the Eternals who still had a little part of the power from the uni mind could also be valid due to that.

• Thena vs Wonderwoman
I don’t know how well we can take the fact that the eternals say Ikaris is the strongest as a fact- in the fight with makkari you can see she starts taking the same approach over and over again instead of coming from different angles and that’s when he catches her. I don’t think ikaris just reacted that fast, otherwise she would have just gotten caught the first strike. Ikaris just predicted her- if she kept her assault from random directions instead- i believe she could have soloed him.
I mean, no? She gets a lot of hits in but he pretty much no sells them with zero signs of physical damage. And once he adjusts to her speed, he's able to fight her and two other Eternals at the same time while getting briefly jumped by Kro. Not to mention Makkari does get hurt when Ikaris hits her with an energy beam. She gets back up, but not after writhing in pain for a while. Ikaris is relative in speed to Makkari, but he has way more attack potency and durability. It's not really a fair fight in the long run.

Its not been mentioned much but MCU Ikaris is very durable....he stopped Thenas energy sword with his bare hand.... Thenas blades sliced that super deviant like a hot knife through butter!
He was even able to take thena energy blade to his face when makkari did that sand stuff on the air and nothing happen to ikaris, if it was character like Thor and Captain marvel they will get injure badly, Captain marvel might be strong but not indestructible she just have healing factor, we didn't even talk about how ikaris can endure the sun heat bruh that massive because if u scale the fun fact ikaris sun feat is more massive than Thor star feat

EDIT: I think a lot of the Eternals downplay comes from people just not liking the movie or not even watching it. I seen this one guy say that they hated Eternals and it was the worst mcu movie, then say that they never actually watched it 😐

I agree Icarus is in fact the strongest however he isn't vastly much stronger than the rest of them as you've stated, I'd like to point out the deviant who absorbed gilgamesh's power wasn't using his magic (the energy gauntlets) when he hit him therefore you can't really say that he tanked the attack, Secondly phastus alone was able to restrain him for quite the amount of time which just means that if he wanted to he could've created something else to kill him immediately after catching him at any moment in time and lastly he didn't make quick work Thena as you've said either, yes he had her pinned but she wasn't fighting back and it could be argued that she already knew that the uni mine was going to be activated and did nothing. And that's not to mention that Druig was stated to have controlled Thina before which also means he can control other eternals 💁🏾♂️

I hope if they do anything further in the mcu with the Eternal’s they somehow bring back Ikaris. He was really the only one of them that was particularly interesting and as of now seems to be the most powerful character in the mcu.
From my knowledge Ikaris is the leader of the Eternal’s throughout the comics and they went all in getting Richard Madden, so seems really strange for them to just kill him off right away.
Fun Fact: Ironically the fastest character in all of Marvel is Runner being able to fly 669600000 miles per hour. (186,000 miles per second)

I think his strength may be a bit overstated in the video.
I might be wrong, but Ikaris would’ve been powered up by the unimind at the point of him flying off of Earth, right? Sersi claimed that she still had power left from after the unimind, so shouldn’t Ikaris also have been juiced up when you calculated his strength?

It actually Bothers Everyone. When Marvel announced all the Phase 4 movies(The YT video one), I thought at one time that is Bucky an Eternal.
Nah, you're wrong. Superman doesn't bleed unless it's a hit from kryptonite weapons. Thus no one in the justice league, unless equipped with kryptonite weapon can actually make superman bleed. Ikaris bleeds from any kind of slashing or piercing attacks from any member of the eternals, not to mention many deviants have harmed him more than the eternals. One deviant was even able to pin him down for several seconds and he was likely dead meat if it wasn't for Sersi.
Conclusion: Ikaris is actually very vulnerable when compared to superman and is most definitely not as durable as you've exaggerated. He IS the most powerful Eternal, but he is made of the same molecular compound as the rest of the ensemble, meaning just as killable as the rest. Not to mention Sersi can kill him with one single touch if she wanted.
Imagine if Quicksilver were still alive and evolved his powers like Wanda. He'd be Makkari level lmao.

In mcu their memories are reset for each world they are sent to after the birth of a celestial and they don't survive it which is why their are several copies of each of them
I somewhat disagree with the last part where you said that amped Ikaris is Planetary because someone has already calculated how durable they'd have to be to survive the Emergence and their final result was Country level.
The emergence is calculated at dwarf star level. Whoever calculated at country level is on some bs 💀

Nice power scaling but ikaris doesnt have a planetary durability. Its stated that everytime the celestials destroy a planet the eternals die in the explotion but then arishem remakes them.
I would say ikaris is physically equal to thor or hulk but i dont think hes as powerful as thor since he doesnt feats to say that.

I would say Ikaris' strength isn't his best attribute. I mean, he relies on his flying and laser vision more than his strength. I would put him stronger than super humans such as Steve but weaker then beings like Hulk, Thanos or Thor. Although his durability is INSANE.

i guess saitama destroyed my imagination of what is called strong. i never felt any eternal is "strong" the entire time i watched the movie except at the end of the movie when that celestial appears.

The movie is kinda messy but ultimately I found it to be an enjoyable film with many interesting philosophical subjects.
I agree, people thought it was boring. But all the concepts they put forth in so cool.

The thing is the faster than light speed is in space, in atmosphere he would be slower, and we don’t even know how fast it was, although it must have been more than light speed.
But captain marvel can already do that out of atmosphere, and scales to the rest of the universe normally.

I've heard people say they seem underpowered which is insane. As physically strong as Ikarus is Gilgamesh is even stronger. Druid is so powerful he puts Professor X to shame he said when he left he thought about taking over the mind's of every single human on the planet even Professor X can't do that hooked up to Cerebro. M'karri is like they said the fastest speedster in the MCU and Phastos cosmic ingenuity that he can create on the spot. Not even Ironman or Shuri or even the whole of Wakanda can come close to matching what he does. And what about Sersi, now she can change living matter into thing's, she was powerful before but that puts her in a completely different tier of power now. Not to mention they all are insanely durable I can go on and on but I really don't get how they seem underpowered.
It's not a power issue, it's how badly it was displayed by the director. Their powers were set at a scale that looked weak while the other movies showed more peaks. Eternals were so sealed up, we never got to see their potential 😔. Just glimpse of what others have far exceeded on.
@@CHMPro Well let's agree to disagree because I loved the fight scenes they seemed very powerful to me. I think your looking at the Deviants as being weak and don't realize just how powerful they were. They were created basically by God to be the ultimate apex predator killers on any planet Celestials deem fit they literally are fueled with cosmic energy. To me seeing how the Eternals treated Deviants for most of the movie like canon fodder showed just how powerful they were to me.
@@CHMProI agree. People believe eternals aren’t that powerful when as a team they’d wipe the main 6 avengers apart from only Thor. It’s just they only fight monsters which are close to relative to them and aren’t fighting these big screen characters like the other marvel projects have
@aim they underpowered many characters to keep movies alive like the time Thanos beat up Hulk without breaking ships haul. We all know Hulks been smashed by bigger game and atomic damage and nothing happened to him. Also captain America was knocked out by Thanos punch using gem which is not possible since she herself was invulnerable on a celestial level. Hollywood has become a funny group of directors playing Stanley.
I think the “Makkari is the fastest the thing in universe” thing is kinda wrong and just another thing of advertisements not caring about powerscaling.
Because if Makkari is scaling above Carol, who flew from wherever Titan is to Earth in less then a day, then Makkari should not have taken as long as she did to run around the Earth, even while looking for the Emergence Point.
She’d literally be able to make several laps around the Earth in a single second at just the speed of light. So I’d say that’s more of a Death of the Author thing.

The science doesn’t work. The speed of light is 300,000,000 m/s by standard physics assumptions. If Ikaris can fly faster than this, he would easily be able to dodge Makari at only 224,000,000 mph. Keep in mind that m/s and mph are very different. The speed of light in mph is over 670 million mph. Try converting it on google. If we go off of what this video states, Ikaris should be able to easily outmaneuver Makari. Maybe he can’t move on land as fast as he can flying, but still. Not tryna hate, just being a nerd.

i would like to know what damage ikaris sustained in battle that required ajak to heal him. i also wonder about his healing abilities if she had not done so. regardless, he thank her for doing so.
The deviant can harm the Eternals because they were made by the same program, the first battle when ikaris fought that Deviant on the air he got injured when he dodge an attack from the deviant but the deviant claws were too long so it touch him and ajak heal him but she wasn't they in the Amazon fight when kro stab ikaris with those things on he's body and I saw sign of injury but it later heal even Gilgamesh when thena injured him and it wasn't they in other scene

Am not sure, now that eternals are here and ikaris and makkari are in the team am not sure Superman and flash is fast for the MCU, Because I the comic makkari is marvel direct flash like she's the fastest being in marvel universe able to tap into cosmic speed force just like flash and she was stated in own comic crossover that she could give flash a hard time in race because she was able to first the runner in a race and the runner was marvel fastest being before he was overthrown by makkari, and ikaris in the comic could keep up with makkari when they went to Olympia planet in a second that was just flight speed but reaction he has react to her many times same goes to the MCU ikaris and makkari are like Superman and flash

captain marvel can't even break the sound barrier in earths atmosphere. she can go faster in space because of Zero friction.
ikaris and makkari on the other hand literally break the sound barrier and go beyond that speed while in earths atmosphere.
@@alpha7even913 literally every calculable feat of her is above speed of sound, her searching and entire planet, flying from ground to space in less than a minute, flying from upper atmosphere to ground level in a minute in endgame etc,etc, and makkari would scale above her max speed because otherwise she wouldn’t be called the fastest woman if all she needed was the right environment
