I saw this remarkable film yesterday and it is still lingering. Absolutely beautiful, with outstanding acting and out-of-this-world cinematography, if you like beauty, depth, a film that touches your heart, pls go and watch it. A film to watch again and again.
Wow, my standout, just from the trailer, is Colin Firth! Really seemed to convey so much in so few words!...And you can never go wrong with Olivia Colman.
I just watched it, and wow, it's an amazing film. I have worked for a show called Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. by Alice Birch, so I know she has intention in every detail, and I think the director and the actors embrace what Alice Birch was trying to convey in the story. Things like smoke, jewelry, clothes, lipstick, phone ring, etc because they mean something, and I still think about Pauls's line, "Not that I have to tell anyone anything. Anything".
@@shaw7206 I think so...it is an awarded book by Graham Swift...definitely not for everyone but after some thought and a re read I loved it. My friends who had read the book and watched the film said its done very well.
@@pagethreemodel maybe u can share some spoilers? How much screen time does she have? Idk why but from the trailers her character looks like an antagonist or something like that
@@Karasuno86 Sure, if you'd like. She's not an antagonist. If anything, you would feel sorry for her if you watched it even though I feel it was intended for her character to be unlikeable (I personally don't think she is). She pops up in a few scenes so I'd say twenty five ish minutes of screen time. Her character's intro is really iconic. She is driving erratically and yet determinedly along a country lane wearing a gorgeous pair of sun glasses, a wide brimmed hat and royal blue ensemble. Her mum is in the back holding on for dear life while her dad is sitting beside her, and she turns to her mum out of nowhere and barks at her for being scared by her driving and says she can feel her 'judging'. When her dad tried to intervene on the mum's behalf, she says 'oh shut up daddy!'. It's such a funny and yet tense moment. Disturbing also, when you consider what happens to the main actress's character's lover, that same day.
@@pagethreemodel Thanks! I've just found out this little clip, she's so badass. Literally couldn't look away from her face. Can't way to see Emma's portrayal of Rhaenyra Targaryen, I'm sure their performance will blow haters' brains.

Unfortunately, the filter makes it a bit difficult to answer you, as the text is easily classified as spam. Anyway, the music was composed especially for the trailer by the Munich composer Stephan Helmut Fischer. You can find him on the leading platform for musicians, whose name is apparently not allowed to be mentioned here.
If you are in the UK it was released in the UK last Oct/Nov. Not sure where it is streaming but it now available on DVD/Blu Ray down the shops. It's brilliant.

The British sure do love their stories about the aristocracy schtupping the help.
This is not about that. It's a classic Graham Swift award winner novel about something much more nuanced and complex.

Watch Olivia Colman tie with herself for the Best Actress Oscar for this and The Lost Daughter.
Olivia Colman is wonderful as per, but this is a supporting role...
