Eh not really, don't forget that we are not reading about or looking at regular people, these are members of really the affluent landed gentry , the only thing distingushing them from the aristocracy is the lack of a title. Other than that I agree :)
In fact, refined vocabulary is the refined speech of Jane Austen and screenwriters. Most people of those times expressed themselves like most modern people - sparingly, boringly, chaotically, sometimes absurdly like Collins, Bingley, Mrs. Bennet, Mr. Bennet, Lydia, Kitty, Mary, Lady Catherine and others, which offends the ears of adequate people. When I look at Bingley or anyone else who can't put three words together in one sentence, I feel sad and lonely. Because people have not changed, men for the most part remain mediocre.

The end scene when he is walking toward her in the field with that beautiful music is the most romantic scene of all movies! “I would have to tell you, you have bewitched me body and soul. I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.” Mr Darcy to Elizabeth

Just watched this version again last night for the 100th time. It never gets old. For me, Matthew Macfadyen is the only Mr. Darcy. He was so extremely handsome in the movie.
Jane Austen created one of the most perfect romantic couples of the universal literature. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy and the movie portrayed them perfectly.
In many literature discussions it is agreed that Jane Austen indeed wrote the ultimate romantic plot: girl and boy meet, there is instant connection, however this is misinterpreted in some way or another which leads to mutual negative regard, circumstances will not let them avoid each other so they get to know each other better, and find out they are a perfect match (and live happily ever after😉).
The progression of Darcy's attraction from the time he laid eyes on lizzy to the time he is totally and undeniably bewitched by her is so satisfying to watch over and over. His resistance to fall for her and lizzy's biting remarks to put him in his place both contributed to the interplay of emotions leading to mutual desire. Once invested to win lizzy, Darcy immediately rectified his "reputation and good standing" in lizzy's perception thus Darcy assisted in Lydia's maariage to wickham and Bingley's proposal to Jane. These were not missed by Lizzy's keen eye and assessment. From the moment Darcy first proposed to her, Lizzy became aware of every detail Darcy does. She even saw clearly how Darcy felt when she visited Pemberly with her aunt and uncle. The early morning scene right after Lady Catherine De Bourgh called on Lizzy, both were not able to sleep. I wish they have also officially added in the US version epilogue - the scene after marriage and they were in pemberly. Darcy was calling her Mrs. Darcy and lizzy told him to call her that only when he is “completely, perfectly, and incandescently happy.” Which he then proceeds to call her repeatedly so whilst kissing parts of her face. Actually, I liked goddess divine on regular days lol.
Yes indeed... Loved this movie!! .Must have watched it over 20 times through the years: Great chemistry between the 2 leads.... Keira has done several period piece movies..... Loved the ending...
The way that thunder rolls as they each lash out harsh words at each other in that scene where he professes his love and tries to ask her to marry him. Such a great scene ❤
He insults her mother, father and younger sisters. Told her she was beneath him, a lower class. She did well to forgive him for the insults, maybe she knew what he said was true.
@@Dustandfuzz we all know our own flaws (well self aware people do anyway) and we all know the faults of our family members but we love them anyway. I think she was insulted (rightfully so) about his observations of her family and his callous behavior towards them and her. He lacked the full understanding and story, and made many of his decisions off the cuff pompously. She was also not shy to hold that observation back from him either and I believe that really was a catalyst for change in each of them. Later he realized how gravely mistaken he was about so many things, as was she after meeting his aunt and sees how prejudiced she is too, and he was still smitten with and bewitched by her that he now could overlook her and her family’s faults and love them all too.
I love how during the dance, the other dancers all disappear until it appears they are alone in the ballroom, indicating how complete their focus is on each other. And when the music stops, all of a sudden all the others are back.
Very perceptive. I noticed that the first time I saw the movie. Though I’ve never seen anyone comment on it before. It’s a very poignant moment in the movie.
"I thought you were in London." "No, no I'm not." I find this hilarious. Despite his eloquence in the gazebo scene, this is all Mr. Darcy can manage at this point.
He clearly rehearsed it for the gazebo scene after the first failed attempt at proposal at Collin’s house. When he needs to speak unprepared, he’s tongue tied and very awkward.
I have read this book multiple times a year since I was a teenager. I have never seen a version where Mr. Darcy looks like he does in my imagination. But after watching this version a few times Matthew Macfadyen really grew on me. Now he is the Mr. Darcy I see when I do my yearly re-reads.

I love the way Darcy spreads his fingers after having touched Lizzies bare hand with his own bare hand. Considering that at the time people usually wore gloves this was a very intimate moment. Keiras look when she realizes what just happend and him spread / stretching his fingers suggests to me that they both felt something (a spark?) that moment.

This is the best movie version between all of them and my favourite movie of all time. The scenery and music is so beautifully done. The actors also seem to have a spark which the others in my opinion don’t share.
There is no comparison to past versions. The soundtrack and beautiful cinematography put this one in a category far beyond, not to mention how every actor nails their character. Other versions are cold and stale in comparison. They dont have the passion or the chemistry. They're too wordy. That's great for a book, but a movie has the advantage of sight, you don't need as much. They took a great book and turned it into the perfect experience for the senses. You can't help truly falling in love along with Lizzy and Mr. Darcy. I agree, it is my all-time favorite movie!
Perfectly said. This is exactly how I feel. I know that many prefer version with Colin Firth, but that version has not nearly the chemistry and passion thath this one has.
For me, the greatest part of my adoration of this particular rendition of the story springs from the deep feeling the two spoke to each other with their eyes. Both actors have extremely expressive eyes and I have wondered if that is one of the many reasons they were chosen for these roles. I do adore Colin Firth as an actor, but, this version is my personal favourite.
Other than that amazing walk in the meadow, my fave scene is always when they’re talking with the sister and lowkey flirting and the sister smiles up at the brother like “YUP I SAW THAT BROTHER!!” 😂😂😂 Love this adaption! The series is my fave but this is such a comfort movie!
Haha yes I love the scenes with Georgiana. It’s like the only time his guard is down like that and he’s so at ease and so obviously in love. And of course his sister can tell. It’s just adorable. They’re both so hopeful and so attracted to each other. It’s the first time it’s mutual and they’re actually on the same page understanding each other after the proposal disaster. It’s also kind of the first time they’re on an equal footing? Darcy meets her family from the start. He’s seen her home, he KNOWS her, which is why he fell in love with her. But she’d never had the same insight into him. She’d never met his family or seen his home, she hadn’t seen him with his guard down like that. Even when he proposed to her the first time, he kept her at a distance. But at Pemberley it’s almost like they can start from scratch and do things properly.
When he said, "you must know. Surely, you must know it was all for you," was the moment my heart just melted after such prolonged tension I felt while watching their relationship evolve ❤❤❤
I was so mad at myself today, I am 25 and still hadn't watched Pride and Prejudice even though I always downloaded it never watched it. But I watched it today and I'd say this has become one of my favourite movies. I hate cheesy lines and unreal confidence in a man, this was so pure and real. I dont have enough words to express myself I am not that good at it too. Also like Mr Darcy I am unable to engage in a communication with people i dont know. I am a social person but at the same time i just want to be with my closest friends and family members and most of the times alone. Also he's lucky to have find the perfect women for himself.

unpopular opinion: I just finished the book, and watching the 1995 BBC series version. I love how Darcy and Elisabeth are played in this version (I think much closer to the book personalities than the tv series), however the script is way too quick in the movie version. They blended sections to make it all fit and added unnecessary statements to try to make it flow better, but it almost takes key contexts out of the narrative. I like the movie, and wish I could love it more.
Omg yall. This is my favorite movie out of all of the movies that were ever made. I have watched it almost 20 times…And I could quote about half of the movie. I have been reading the book and watching plays about it. When I tell you I’m obsessed, I AM OBSESSED 😊 P.S. My favorite scene was the one where Darcy and Lizzy first laid eyes on each other…and Darcy’s reaction afterwards 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love how, after he places her in the carriage, he shoots her a look that is SO unlike him - so masterful...I'm coming for you, he is telling her, and she's so awakened, most likely for the first time, with desire, that she is stunned.
Darcy here is a nervous puppy. Colin Firth's was a little more serious and severe. I'm not sure which Darcy I like better. Both are so different but very very good.
This was her crowning achievement. Better than The Duchess. Better than Atonement (and I sobbed violently over that movie). Better than Domino. This is *THE* Keira movie.
I, very often, do not care for remakes. However, this version is absolutely lovely. While Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier just fill the screen, MacFayden and Knightly do a wonderful job with these characters. He appears far more brooding and her take on the Lizzie character has a far more ascerbic tone to it than Greer but, it exemplifies her independence. Really love thus version
They put her in mostly dark, brown clothes, while Jane wore light pink, trying to emphasize Jane was more beautiful. They failed, Lizzie is really beautiful, her eyes and mouth, the way she speaks... Poor Mr Darcy, he couldn't help but fall in love so deeply :)

The scene in the rain is perfection
I watched this movie so many times that I can quote the dialogue from almost every scene 😬
"Pride and Prejudice" is my favourite novel; and this movie honoured it very nicely.
As their relationship grows you can really see the softness in his eyes for her, it’s so beautiful to watch
I greee, they have very expressive eyes and they played their roles perfectly.
Also, that’s like the only time he properly smiles in the whole movie😂
I can never get enough of seeing their love grow. A beautiful couple😊
The reaction/look when he held her hand as she stepped into the carriage tho! SWOON!!!
Especially when you notice she’s not wearing gloves, and skin-on-skin was seen as very sensual in the regency era 🥰
When he said, "you must know. Surely, you must know it was all for you," was the moment my heart just melted after such prolonged tension I felt while watching their relationship evolve ❤❤❤
Their romance is one for the ages!!! Both superb!!!
This version of Pride and Prejudice is a perfect movie. I've watched it so many times but I just find it so charming and endearing. 😂❤
I love the movie from start to finish.
Me too
1995💞
I've read the book three times and can't get tired of this movie either.
Hope u find urs soon ❤
@@Chandlerbing54 wishing you the same 👍🏻
Same, I’m 41 and I just watched it for the first time last week and I’m obsessed with this movie 🥰
That's how a man in love acts. They don't care about anything but you.❤
@@JimmyDew_ yep, absolutely correct
0:03 the double look
Matthew Macfadyen is great in this role of Darcy
Oh who could fail to love Matthew MacFadyen? ❤
yes, I fell in love with him completely
Ok...my favorite movie of all time.
I NEVER tire of watching it.
Over and over
Excactly the same here!❤
That waltz and that proposal scene were absolutely stunning. ❤
@harrisonjoe8579 Great.. Seasons greetings to you as well. Yes, I love this movie though it's different from the book. Still love love everything and enjoy going back to watch it.
I dont think this movie presents any romance whatsoever, there are many more stunning scenes than this.
@@LRyan-li9wr i disagree. There is tension with both of them for the majority of the movie. The ending was entirely romantic as well as beautiful. They have quite a connection but various things arise to make the build up better.
I love this version of Pride and Prejudice. The cinematography was stunning and it was if the viewer was watching their lives
My favorite movie ever!! Love Mr.Darcy.I could watch it a million times and never get tired of it.❤
This is my favorite movie of all time! I think we all along for a love like Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth.
Love that little double take at the beginning!
Followed by how she can't tempt him! Sure, Mr. Darcy, you just go on telling yourself that.
8:59 one of my favourite scenes, you literally can see the tension and nervousness in him 😍 Poor Mr. Darcy, he’s totally in love with her ❤️🔥
Почему она не разбила чернила от испуга, он как буря влетел в комнату.. У него явно был шанс из хаоса выстроить порядок ❤
2:28 Mr. Bengleys laugh kills me everytime😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The laugh of a simpleton😂
@@obianujuchris579 Goofy
He's so cute! I'm happy for Jane, too. He's a nice fellow.
Ah! the men in austen's novels❤
The first time he smiles!!! 😍
The only time when Mr D'Arcy smiled and laughed was in the company of his most beloved women.
The best version of Pride of prejudice ,I,ve even see it ,good made it,good interpretation ,good director ,best shooting !!!
This is my absolute favorite version of Pride & Prejudice, with the best stars, the best settings, the best of the countryside! It is all stunning! 🫶🏼👏💕
One of the best love stories ive ever come across❤
Thankyou for the season greetings, Season Greetings to you and family from New Zealand@harrisonjoe8579
rewatching at least 1 time a day the Pride & Prejudice hand flex scene for a dash of serotonin
Most ardently!
He melted my heart
Beautiful adaptation of pride and prejudice, excellent actors, excellent music score and the camera work and scenery is amazing, one would never get tired of watching this version 💕
I would love to have known Jane Austen as a close personal friend, and had been privileged to have held conversations with her regarding her views put forth in her great literary works.
@harrisonjoe8579 Hi and thank you for your reply. Sounds like you may be a fellow lover of great English period pieces. I am a HUGE Emma Thompson fan. She could read the phone book and I would be greatly entertained, lol! Hope you and yours have wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!🎄
If only...
I own the DVD and have easily watched the movie over 50 times since it came out. Equisite!
When he asks for her hand in marriage, his voice and th dialogue delivery felt as if it was King George from Queen Charlotte.....reminded me of "I love you Charlotte, my heart calls your name"( with a tremble )❤....especially when Mr. Darcy's voice trembles, saying most ardently
Is always pure joy to watch this two😆❤
I re watched this movie like 30 times and i always freaking cry and feel me with joy. Perfection
Elizabeth: How is my sister?
Darcy: Best I can do is where
:D Exactly! :D He was completely mesmerized
Immer wieder schön zu ansehen, mein absoluter Lieblingsfilm ❤❤❤
This the best love story of all times...I watch this movie when I'm sad, happy, out of love, In love ...this movie Soo beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️ No words nothing can compare..my Second is Somewhere in time ❤❤❤
Correct ❤
I love the Elizabeth's brilliance... and her sarcasm.
unpopular opinion: I just finished the book, and watching the 1995 BBC series version.
I've probably seen this movie al least ten times and will again. One of my all time favourites. Love it and the actors ❤
Mr Bingley is so cute 😂
Darcy here is a nervous puppy. Colin Firth's was a little more serious and severe. I'm not sure which Darcy I like better. Both are so different but very very good.
IKR!
He's a deep, sensitive fellow with social anxiety. An introvert?
Ive always been a fan of Rosamund Pike but Kiera Knightly just stole my sole in this movie !
ive watched this movie 100x 😅❤❤❤
Girl same
Me tooooo!🤩🤩🤩
Imagine walking around the room as an activity, especially with another person
Keira is absolutely amazing in every scene
This was her crowning achievement. Better than The Duchess. Better than Atonement (and I sobbed violently over that movie). Better than Domino. This is *THE* Keira movie.
I love this movie, could watch it every day! One of my very top favorites of all time!
UGH the best movie ever
Oglądałam film, czytałam książkę dużo razy i ciągle do niego wracam
"i hope to offer you more clarity in the future"
😂❤
Out of so many adaptations of P&P, this one is my favorite now.❤
Keira is perhaps the best Elisabeth but Colin Firth IS Darcy hands down❤
@@danaezev6103 At first I thought Colin was the "one" and then... Matthew came!!!!!!
In my opinion, Matthew has the sexiest voice on earth!
This is so beautiful I love our mr darcy
Elizabeth is literally so beautiful, i find her way prettier than jane tbh
They put her in mostly dark, brown clothes, while Jane wore light pink, trying to emphasize Jane was more beautiful. They failed, Lizzie is really beautiful, her eyes and mouth, the way she speaks... Poor Mr Darcy, he couldn't help but fall in love so deeply :)
This absolutely vulnerable, wonderful version of Darcy in the form of a linebacker is irresistible
One of the greatest romances of all time!
I love everything about this movie, the actors,, the scenery, the cinematography, and especially the music.
I appreciate this movie adaptation more & more each time I watch it!👍
In love with love in the most eloquent way
Смотрела этот фильм раз 30) Обожаю актеров, музыку, пейзажи. Ппосто волшебно! Когда мне плохо на душе, всегда смотрю этот фильм❤
I really need to watch this movie in its entirety. These clips alone are enough to convince me. I never read the book either.
Read it. My all time favourite book. Hope you enjoy it.
Georgiana is so adorable.
I love “Pride & Prejudice “!
