You got it wrong. Higher dpi means more data. Consider a sensor's physical size is 1x1 inches, the amount of "pixels" you'd have in that square is the "dots per inch", which is quite blurry but usable for a mouse. The more data the image records, the MORE precise and accurate it can track your movement ( precision and accuracy are different ). Usually, you'd crank up the DPI and lower the mouse sensitivity in the settings and not the other way around since it would give off a jittery motion. PS: The reason you're experiencing the nightmare speed is due to the fact that you're moving across more dots without any physical change ( as in you're moving ur mouse the same distance ). I.e I move my mouse 1 inch, 800dpi records 800 dots. But, 3200 dpi would record 3200 dots. Meaning the software would interpret this as you've moved it much more than what you actually did ( they both are 1 inch ). And combining this with the "pointer precision" aka mouse acceleration makes it worse ( as it adds a randomized extra value according to the speed you're moving ur mouse ).
What about acceleration? Isn't that a part of windows settings, thus it's not a vertical line of speed of the mouse...i.e. if i flick it real fast it will travel farther than if i slowly move the mouse from one point to another? How does this affect DPI?
@kravitexx dpi doesn't matter for gamers. But, ips i.e., the tracking speed of mouse. Budget gaming mouses have tracking loss while gaming. This can make the gameplay worst. So, always check for tracking speed first. And the other features are ur wish
i play on 200dpi with 1000hz I'm very accurate and I flick fast enough. I made a defiant sniping montage. It is not bad at all. I have messed around with 1600 dpi and 1000 hz but I don't like that it is too precise tracking down my very minute movements when I move my mouse to the right or left it gives it like this stutter in a way like skippy. I feel like my mouse movements are more controlled the way I have it.

Some mouse have button on the top to change the DPI i.e. 400, 800 1600 etc. else on computer in the mouse settings you can change the sensitivity from slower to faster.

Not really a difference. Dpi lets you move your mouse pointer faster. Find what you are comfortable with from 800-1600
I think high dpi+low ingame sens just the same as low dpi+high ingame sens, altough the first one is more accurate

I was on lowest setting at 77 sens..... now I'm at highest dpi 11 sens....... feels smoother but same movement

Dont use acceleration
That's why I have difficulty choosing 3d object sides...
Pro tip: don't look for dpi, look for IPS or tracking speed atleast 100ips

this again is just more misinformation, dpi is relative it will feel the same on any resolution. also after 3200 dpi its just mouse smoothing.
