Filippo Claudi I have sound personal reason for watching a review of this device. I'm also entitled to my opinion on this devices vast shortcomings in relation to its current competitors. Arguing that ones disinterest in something should prevent them from engaging in a conversation of said topic is a rather regressive stance to take.
I personally own an iPad, and an iPhone. Neither of which I personally purchased, just simply won in various contests. My preference are Microsoft and Android products.
The best part about your videos are hearing the clicks and scrapes and clattering of your rings and bracelets all over the gadgets - they are so clear and audible I LOVE it ! Oh ya, the green blue light thingy, take a tiny bit of green paint and gently, with a single light coat, go over the LED light of the USB -C hub, yeah life hacks !

I dont get it. This is a MacBook PRO.
From a PRO model we shouldnt expect the newest to be thinner and shit. It should have USB, HDMI and Ethernet ports (maybe a sim card slot) , as well as a disc drive.... Thats the reason that it should be called the PRO, not a dump touchbar that will just drain your battery faster.
I understand removing all of them in the Macbook Air ( thats the point of it ), and maybe keep the normal Macbook with the ports this Macbook Pro....
Smart Cat I think it should at the very least should have a lightening port to interface with your phone. A SD card is necessary for most people importing photos from a camera. I don't get leaving those out and calling it a Pro. I'm ok with the disk drive though because it's rarely used these days and takes up a lot of room.

I bought that Apple CD USB drive 2 years ago just in case I ever needed to check out a CD. To be honest, I haven't used it yet. But I do agree on the other stuff. I don't care about a laptop being a few mm thicker or not, as long as it improves my workflow and has all the ports to save me time during work. This new Macbook Pro doesn't do that. Especially not having a SD card slot is a huge miss for a lot of creatives...
I must admit that maybe the CD is indeed a bit useless especially in America because of netflix and stuff, but where I live we still have video clubs where we can go and rent a CD movie to watch and I do that often :D
Smart Cat I get that, but if you consider how enormous a disc drive is, it takes up at least a quarter of any laptop's surface area, and they're generally pretty thick too. Thats a ton of wasted space that could otherwise go toward doubling battery life, or improving the cooling system, or adding a larger motherboard with more high-end components, or more likely a combination of all those things. It's just not worth it for such an edge-case.

0:37 Small correction Justine: A USB C port that is also compatible with Thunderbolt 3 is probably more accurate. USB C is the interface/port and Thunderbolt is a communication protocol that runs over USBC. And yes Apple is here to blame for. Marketing wins over correct information ;-(
Further, USB C isn't actually tied to a data rate, that new LG 5K monitor Apple showed on stage only has a USB 2.0 downstream data rate on its USB C ports, which is almost criminal. Joe or Jane consumer isn't going to know to look for USB C 3.1 gen 2...

I'm not sure you can daisy chain thunderbolt. Specifications don't tell. probably not.

How often do you really see the glowing apple logo while using your MacBook? I never see it. That's why I don't care they removed it.
In sunlight in the morning you see the apple logo through the display so it can affect colour and brightness in that area. I think they removed it to improve that experience.

It was because of the screen. They changed the display technology so they could no longer use the backlight to light up the logo. The glowing logo cost them nothing in the previous models just a transparent piece of plastic.
The glowing logo was not for you. It was for others to see that you owned an Apple thing...

God I wish I could afford one of the new MacBooks
Honestly just buy a MacBook Pro mid 2012 and upgrade the ram and the HDD to an SSD. It may be a little chunkier but, still runs like a champ for 2016. I have a minimalistic setup with the MacBook hidden away in a drawer connected to a 27 inch HP Pavilion Monitor. I am tempted of upgrading to a core i7 in the near future but, prefer to save money right now.

It's not a "double standard". They're different kinds of devices.
It should be noted that some of the reasons that they removed the headphone jack was that lots of people weren't using it and the fact that they want to go wireless....
But we can't forget one important issue they didn't overly focus on, but still stated....
They didn't have space.... for a small phone, adding it in took a lot of space away, but for macbook, they was enough room to keep the feature.

I was implying while Apple stated that lots of people weren't using and they wanted to move on, their phone with all the features and tech in it weren't able to fit it in during their design.
And it wasn't about thinness.
And most of those phones that were able to include headphone jacks don't have as as great processing or headphone jacks.
So they had to choose between downgrading all the upgrades they put to the phone and make it have a smaller battery life or remove the headphone jack.
VacancyJB People need headphone jacks in computers for advanced tasks and making EDM's on their PC's.

Apple you're paying for brand name. If Dell or HP made the same laptop and had the rights to put OSX on it, it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper.
Also the moment Apple realized that people will buy anything regardless of what they do to it or what price they put it at, they took advantage of it. So a $3000 Macbook people will buy. Hey you did.

While I largely agree with you, you might be a little blind to what is on the Windows side. Dell's XPS 15, or the Razer Blade 14 are both far from an affordable laptop, add a couple hundred bucks for MacOS and you aren't far from Apple's pricing. Yes the power of the device could be argued, but Apple touts higher battery life to combat that. Now look to the Surface Book from Microsoft themselves and THAT is a pricey system. Quality has to cost something, and it makes me sad that I can't get a desirable laptop for less than 2 grand...
I have the latest Dell XPS 15 that I got with big discounts $400-$500 off original price. I got this laptop at low end laptop pricing. 4k touch i7 16gb ram 500 ssd pcie. Apple would never give discounts like that as well as they don't give you much pricing options. The cheapest Macbook 15 inch 2016 is $2399, the cheapest Dell XPS 15 is $999. Also its upgradeable and has more ports. I'm just saying if Apple is releasing Macbooks at those prices, I expect way more. Latest i7, user upgradable, standard usb ports, sd slot, a full touchscreen.
With the Surfacebook pricing, that is ok because you're getting a touchscreen, 4k, removeable/convertible screen, a pen, standard usb ports, sd slot, highend dGPU, unique design. I agree it is a little overkill the price, but it is way better than what Apple is doing.
I do agree brand name is part of the price. the fact that the surfacebook is Microsoft does add to the price as well as Apple but still Microsoft is giving way more for almost the same price as the Macbook.
Also there are manufacturers that make 2016 Windows laptops for $300-$400 with crappy internals but at least they are the latest generation of crappy internals. You can get many options with Windows. No way in hell can you get a 2016 Macbook for $300-$400
users who complain about the lack of ports I actually don't get it. For me Leaving a dongle plugged into all my music equipment at my work station is actually handy because I can just plug my laptop into that one adapter and all of my hardware is connected when I'm at my desk.. Its just such an obvious thing to me that new tech should have new ports. No one will be complaining about these ports in a year. And Justine NO, apple pencil can stick to the iPad pro plz:)
4 usb-c ports is overkill. I would prefer 2 usb ports, 2 usb-c ports, a sim card slot and an hdmi slot. _All_ of my peripherals right now are USB, and to say that it is more convenient to buy and carry around dongles rather than have the ports integrated is ridiculous.
Nah its not overkill. I really think usb has been a burden for a while. Even though its what we all use, I absolutely hate plugging in my drum pad, keyboard and speakers individually through usb every time. I Always would put them in the wrong way and have to flip it over. so I like many others just bought a usb splitter for $20 and left it on my desk for the convenience. The sd card reader was slow and the protrusion was ugly sticking out.. and really SD cards in two years will be very niche professionally as there is already far superior tools and the dslr camera market is going extinct. Do you want your new 3000 dollar mac to have ancient useless ports in 2 years? do you rlly need to spend all that guap for something that is thinner, lighter, brighter and comes with a touch id if you really needed those ports?
Yes, for the forseeable future, I will need at least a couple USB ports. It's the reason I will not buy the new MacBook. However, I'm glad you found a computer that works for you.

The touchbar is incredible. I love it! I started following you with your new puppy videos, just before we got our little puppy. Dude i get the apple hate, but seriously, not everyone needs performance.
Hell I may play games very much but when it comes to a laptop I'd still chose a macbook every time. They are so nice, the trackpad is lovely, the keys are nice, It looks great, the os is great for a laptop, and they have a long batterylife.
Thats like telling someone who bought a smart to buy a monstertruck, no thanks, thats not what these people want in the first place.
There may be nice applications where you would need a really beefy laptop, but you are telling everyone to build a pc, not just those people.
And no, while there certainly are a lot of people who just buy a macbook to be cool, it is not just for people who have too much money. If I was out and about all day everyday, heck yea I would by a macbook again, as I said, they are just perfect, if you dont need the beefiest laptop there is in terms of performance.

They are meant for heavy workload and high performance, but in reality they are not great regarding performance. These should'nt be called "pro"

So you're saying a touchscreen keyboard? That will feel so weird when typing and is so much worse than typing on even the macbook.
The touch bad along the whole bottom would be terrible. Resting your hands on the bottom half would result in the mouse moving at inconvenient times.

no there is a real reason for it: health issues. I read that the glowing apple logo caused health problems to the workers building the laptops and that is why apple had to get rid of it :(

the new mac book pro is no better than the last. infact, the only thing that's better are the dimensions and the weight. that's about it. everything else is either a gimmick or the same/worse than last time
for example: the processor is from 2013, the best models max out at 16 gigs of ram, there are NO conventional usb ports, you have to by dongles for EVERYTHING because as well as there being no usb ports, there is no SD card port which is ESSENTIAL for video creators working with video clips shot on a normal camera. not to mention the lack of disk port, the extremely rigid operating system, the lack of touch screen and of course, above all, the logo doesn't light up.

Definitely yes, but some people do care more about elegance and functionality than raw power and greater numbers. Especially for someone highly invested into the apple ecosystem and gotten used to Mac OS or other mac exclusive programs, it is hard to blame them for buying the new MBPs

The problem of competition between Apple & Samsung or PC computer companies are making their products thinner and thinner and increasing more power to their thinner smaller batteries can cause fire at any moment. Apple can't make a long last smaller thinner battery for 4k screen for 4k MacBook Pro because Apple want to make it very thin & removing more ports out for making smaller size laptop. 4k screen computer consumes a lot of power. 😎 😎

Other's have tried and It's an extremely horrible typing experience. Doesn't work well for blind people either.
cause you won't have arm rest. try it yourself, imagine pressing stuffs on ur screen, and at the same time typing some stuffs, back and forth, after a short while you will get discomfort..also the touchpad is customisable, whats the point of a touch screen if there's already the trackpad which can do more than touching the screen,, this is not a device like the surface studio...
You just described the iPad Pro. The thing Apple says should replace the need for a computer. No trackpad. Back and forth between keyboard and screen.

Chase Payne if you do a lot of effects it would be good to get the laptop with dedicated graphics.
Check the gpu compatibility with your editing software.
Chase Payne the 1st one bc they are similar in specs but it has a dedicated GPU which will come in handy for some applications
