Out of all the MBP reviews, this was my favorite because it shows real world applications…not just here’s the unboxing, here’s the ports, here’s the performance. Justine does a great job in all her reviews!

I knew these new M1 MacBooks were powerful, but being able to apply Noise Reduction on Canon 8k RAW footage (which gives even the most powerful computers a hard time) in DaVinci Resolve and then play back the noise reduced footage smoothly made my jaw drop. That is simply insane, if you work with DaVinci Resolve you'll understand.
Exactly what sealed my purchase, I work with Resolve most of the time and that demo just blew my mind on the base model. Was initially torn on getting the base 8 core 14" or the pre-config 10 core 14", but this just confirmed how much quicker it is compared to pre-M1 MBPs regardless of M1 Pro or Max. I really think Apple nailed the base models this year.
Yeah I use resolve too. I'm really having a hard time as my computer struggles to even cut 480p footage without crashes or lag.

WHAT THE HELL to the noise reduction?! My Titan RTX + 3970x won't do that
30-series RTX will though. Works great too

I freaked when you said it feels like the old school MacBooks. When i saw the design i instantly knew they were inspired by the old white MacBooks in design and function. Those MacBooks were the best MacBooks in my opinion, for being plastic, they were solid and great machines with plenty of IO and enough power. I just miss the easy swap battery and ram compartments. Those were the days. I have my old MacBook right next to me and i use it as a charging station for my new Apple products.

Same here lol I have been a windows person since forever and now I want a Macbook Pro 14in. I am currently using a gaming labtop and I have my gaming pc at home. But this Macbook would be so good to use on the go or laying down in bed. I can edit content and use Python and R while laying down. I might have to get a 14in for myself. I am super impressed. It not only is premium looking but that level of performance with little wattage used, little heat and no fan noise is crazy.
I’ve never had a laptop my whole life and this will finally be my first. Im 23

I love the fact that you literally approached this the way I would. My 16” won’t arrive until November, but I shoot 8k on an R5 as well, and this will be game changing for me.

@@dae1925 1899 in the UK…but I didn’t say it was cheap. I said I saved a load of money by opting for the base spec instead of optioning extra ram and CPU/GPU cores just in case I needed them.

Yea the base 14 inch is beating the $50k mac pro that is ridiculous. It is rare to see laptop beat desktop it is unreal to see it beat a desktop that is 25 times as expensive.

The 14" is going to be an absolutely amazing portable workstation. Nearly as portable as an ultrabook, with amazing battery, but perfectly capable when you dock it and use it as a desktop. It's crazy that one computer can do all of those things.

You started the video with tears in your eyes. I can see how happy it makes you. That braided cable… it makes me so happy to see MagSafe on a Mac again. That mini LED ProMotion display looks gorgeous.
THIS is the video I've been waiting for. As a photographer who does heavy manipulations in PS, and also does image selections with clients in the field, I took a leap on a 16" M1 Pro (scheduled to arrive tomorrow!) I wanted the bigger screen for editing on the fly, but hoped that since I'm doing image editing, but no video nor 3d graphics, the Max wasn't necessary for me. Of course, the moment I pressed "purchase," I feared I had made the wrong choice. This video makes me feel more confident that I selected the right configuration for me: that even the Pro chip instead of the Max chip will be a dream.

LOL for only photo editing you would have been fine with the M1 Macbook Air even. I think you underestimate what these are capable of. Also, photo editing is so less intense than video editing, but the M1 air can do video editing flawlessly as well.
Only two youtubers has this level of enthusiasm while unboxing something! And one of them is iJustine!✌🏻

14 inch one looks terrific - also as Justine says, much easier to travel with.
16 inch has a turbo mode and apparently a bigger heatsink, so i would strongly recommend sticking to that one for ur senario

Thank you for showing the capabilities of the lower-end model. Only channel that I have seen do this. I have a base 16-inch coming next week, and it is great to see what it will do.
I know the basics of video editing and seeing how the base MBP can effortlessly handle all that video data is mind blowing.
I was convinced that I had to pass on the new models because of the price here in Denmark. Until you showed the 14” base model which was the only one in my budget range. So thank you for that I’ve bought mine today.
I’m sold! Gonna use it for music production, editing and recording my screen, can’t wait!

I like Justine’s unbox reviews because she uses Final Cut Pro and that is a good barometer of performance testing. The cost of the MBP pays for the days of time you get back being more free and productive.
Gonna disagree with FCPX being a good barometer for a performance test. Its an NLE that works super smoothly on even my 2013 MBP. If they really wanted to push this thing, Premiere would have been the better choice.

I just got my base model M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14 inch in the base model configuration and so far I am really loving it! Can't wait to edit videos on it!
I actually really like the slightly added thickness. I hope it makes me feel less likely to bend the display every time I open my MacBook.

Imagine... I upgraded from a 15 inch MacBook Pro 2015 to a M1 pro 16inch machine. The jump for me was wild. Adobe applications open within seconds. Like my 8K raw images open within seconds and save within seconds. Working on photoshop is a breeze as well.
I ordered 14inch, M1 Max 10core CPU 24Core GPU, 32GB memory, 1TB SSD. Didn’t choose the 16inch because I want it to be more handy. Although knowing the 16inch with a 140w charger may give it better performance and also 4 hrs longer battery 🔋 time, but…. Really hate the sickness and heaviness ….

Macbooks or Apple products in general are just basically the only products where even the packaging gives you the feeling of what you paid for. All Windows Laptops out there, even at higher prices, they just throw in the cables into the package and done while Apple spends so much time on putting them in SO clean.
That’s cause unlike Windows (who let their products do the talking) Apple needs to have good packaging to make you forget your buying an overpriced PoS.

Question : i am a securities trader and I’m currently using 6 4K 27in displays with my PC tower, which very ancient too … just ordered the 16in m1 max. I know the graphic card will support these displays at once, but how do i connect them all? Do i need a docking station?

iJustine - Thank you for reviewing and running tests on the "base" model 14". Most of the reviewers are running tests on the specked out MAX chip. I'm a travel and street photographer shooting stills and I think the 2k Pro, is for me. You saved me at least a thousand dollars. 🤓

I was digging for SOMEONE to do work on the base model 14 instead of benchmarking an M1 Max. This video made me feel very happy about getting the base!
Much appreciate to see the maximum max model together with the base model. There is no doubt M1 Max will conquer Justine’s massive workflows but it still be impressed to see how this base or ‘binned’ M1 Pro could also handle some play back work, which make me feel more confident on believing this base model would be the best choice for the most of users who did basic jobs and some creative work on it. Well done!!!

I’m impressed for sure. I ordered a 16” Max, 64GB/2TB and I just found out it shipped today. I was nervous about investing so much, and the leaked benchmarks didn’t help. After watching this, I’m excited again.

Ordered the MacBook Pro 14” and I was actually thinking of switching to the 16”. But seeing both of them side by side, I think I choose the right size for me, especially since I will be carrying my MBP everywhere just like my old MBP 13”. Thanks, iJustine!
