It's so messed up that they dismissed the girl's experience because they LIKED him so much and only took action when he ran off with some of their money. Priorities. Stay classy.
According to Rhonda's mother, foreign DNA was recovered from Rhonda's sweater; however, this DNA has never been matched to a suspect. Her family and the investigators are still searching for answers.
I find it interesting how in 38 years they haven’t figured out who did it. Sad and yet amazing. Other stories here were solved after about the same amount of time, so hopefully here as well.
I feel so sorry for those poor, elderly women that were taken advantage of. Con artists take advantage of people all the time and I hope they felt empowered by speaking out. They didn't deserve to feel ashamed.❤
The first story of Rhonda Hinson is so sad. Such a pretty girl who's life was cut short. Idk how the hell her killer can sleep at night knowing he did such an awful thing to such a young innocent girl. Makes my blood boil thinking about it.
It sounds like she was either sleeping with her boss or someone married at work. Because that's the only people who would know which road she would be taking home and when she would be on that road. That person killed her because she was going to talk.
Don't trust any guy who struts around naked in front of 11 year old girls. Her parents are as much to blame as he is, in my opinion. This chanel has the actual episode of what happened. I couldn't get over the stupidity of the parents letting their naked daughter hang out with this or any dude.
The Unsolved Mysteries original theme song STILL gives me chills to this day, and when I used to see either "The Unexplained" or "Unexplained Death" titles come down over the screen, I'd damn near shit myself. Those were always the creepiest segments ever. Add Robert Stacks voice, and the creepy piano music during the segments, and it was the stuff of nightmares to me as a child!
Robert Stack is our favorite Unsolved Mysteries narrator, he is also a great actor! Watch the movie "Uncommon Valor" to see him as an actor, he is one of my favorite Hollywood people!
The was one of the best shows of its time, loved watching it when it first came out, commercials and all!! Robert Stack made it what it was and still IS....a great show!!!
Childhood memories of Robert's voice brings back awesome memories laying on the floor or couch watching these with my parents eating snacks but I can't lie his voice when I was young was kind of scary when they would show like the ghost ones or ufo ones lol but I loved it and still do
Unresolved. A viewer from Springfield, Missouri recognized Joe Marks and contacted authorities. He was arrested on November 20, 1989, at his mother's home. He was extradited back to Illinois and was sentenced to six years in prison for theft and conspiracy. Ten years after she vanished, Wilson was arrested and charged with theft and fraud. She served several years in prison and has since been released. Ann Corricelli has never been found. However, the statute of limitations has expired in this case, and she is no longer wanted by authorities. Authorities also have noted that they lack confidence that Corricelli has gone straight, and may be continuing to operate under the likely the possible pseudonym "Mrs. Calvin". Should Corricelli be continuing in fraudulent affairs, this will constitute a whole new crime and resume the search.
This is known as cold reading. They mention something that makes you say "how did she know?" The reality is that they mention something that would be typical of your age, gender, ethnicity, clothing, hair, etc. If you're old, they'll mention a recent death in the family. If you're fat, they say you want to lose weight. No ring on your finger, and they figure you're lonely. Sometimes they'll have someone waiting in the foyer who's actually a shill. The waiting customer will strike up a conversation with you, to get you to talk about yourself. The conwoman will listen in, and then she'll "know" things about you that she'll use to gain your trust.
Exactly, it’s a vague generalisation the victim projects meaning onto. If you’re going to see a medium it means someone you had a connection to is dead, and it’s a high probability it’s an immediate family member, a parent, sibling, child depending on age. That’s why spiritualists would do seances in groups, more people means the guessing is more likely to get someone and reinforce the belief of the others. You end up giving the person more information than they give you. “His name, I’m seeing a G.” “George, is that you?”
Dont care for Dennis Farina either, Robert Stack was the man with the plan not to mention his voice is nice and i love how he dresses. He is suave and debonair. I loved watching this every week.

The man who killed Rhonda was a coworker who she was having an affair with. He killed her because she threatened to expose him to not only his wife, but his coworkers as well.
Thanks for the shows, they are great!!! Robert Stack IS the original HOST and is Fabulous! RE: the Nudist story: it is sad that people in the community were not 100 percent behind her, and believed her, until this sadist ran with their money. THEN, everyone changes their mind, or so it seems. I know the bail system is so that those who might be innocent can gather information and help their attorneys to help represent themselves in court. It seems that the bad guys really take advantage of this and take off! So glad for shows like this, and others that put these people's faces out there for the public to see them, and help in their recapture! This is a public service show!
Awesome memorias..!!!! I remember i was 16 ...u.s airforce base Soesterberg Holland.. Watching this show after boyscout meeting at the rec centre in the tv room in the dank....!!!! Best memories EVER!!!!!!!!!
Howard Drummond, to me, was the most interesting of the people who left fortunes this series ever profiled. He didn't do any harm, and really was most likely just an OCD pack rat for the most part, perhaps with a mild version of Asperger's. However, he was an appreciative and gentle man, and it was obvious he was just a private person.
These women proved my mom right she said "A fool and his/her money is soon departed". Little girl: He molested me! Community: No he would never! Community: He stoled our money. Send him to prison for child molestation!
I dont know why the Howard Drummond story has stuck with me. I understand wanting to be alone, do your own thing. Of course it gets lonely sometimes. I really hope Howard was truly happy. I think the issues with he and his family not keeping contact had more to do with people living their own life. RIP Howard.
Robert Stack and the music is the reason why this show became so successful. The voice and the music added to the mystery …of the unknown…the creepiness …the possibility that it can happen to us.

I can sort of see the weirdness of the update music. I personally cannot help but notice an interesting similarity between the Unatco theme from Deus Ex and the Update theme. Not only are they largely the same style of synth new world music; but they are even similar in tune. What makes it funnier is that both the game and the show deal with with similar themes and concepts; just differences in scale.

As far as I'm concerned........if someone has made the decision to consult with a "psychic"......they're already a lost cause. Funny how when you go see a psychic, they have to ask you for your name.....you'd think being a psychic, they would already know these things.......
That whole segment reminded me of the popularity of John Edwards and how people thought he could communicate with the dead. The whole thing was so fake but people couldn't see that.
The music and the speaking of the hypnotized witness STILL gives me chills and makes me cry, It still SCARES me that much!!!!! I remember being a kid and being terrified watching these
I love unsolved mysteries when we were kids after the show we wouldn't even want to go to the bathroom by ourselves now at 40 I still love the show not scared now lol
Love this show and the Stack! Question for everyone, anyone...How on earth is throwing all your money over a bridge a smart thing to do?? The psychic was right their was an evil presence....Her and her mother!
because she was conned and naive enough to believe that, some people are just smooth talkers like snake oil salesmen and will talk anyone into anything, its kind of like the hook and crook concept.
People go to psychics for a lot of the same reasons, so it's easy to often merely guess correctly what the person's general issues are, how the person feels, and so on. Psychics "start out broad" and then narrow their focus based on the clients' reactions. They make vague guesses ("I sense turmoil in your life" or "I sense that you've had a family tragedy recently") to zero in on the particular person's issues; such guesses are almost always going to be at least somewhat true of almost anyone who would be seeking help like that, so it's not such a stretch of the imagination to stumble onto a correct idea, and thus be correct by appearing to reading the person's mind instead of merely making a lucky/logical guess.
Jack Benny the entertainer comedian was told -- Jack when you die you can't take your money with you Jack replied - - if I can't take it with me I'm not going
Rhondas mother SHOULD have asked more questions,....when yr daughter asks you if it is ok to date a married man, something needs to be asked....maybe she was seeing a married man and it was the wife that shot her..... how they can see the person is 5' 10" when they say they saw the possible killer inside the car bent over, impossible to guess a height
Or the man himself if/when she became a nuisance factor. Something some women never learn: Once a guy's had a piece of chocolate sometimes he's not interested in the box any longer. Sorry if that sounds crude, but it's the truth.
@Lady Heart exactly, if i had asked my mother the same question, i know the reply i would have got! and the questions that she would have asked me afterwards. I also know what my reply would be if my daughter ever asks me that same question.....There are a few things in this story that dont add up....The mother is strange, and im pretty sure i wouldnt have had the same facial expressions had that of been my daughter, there was no emotion!
That woman who was featured on the show who had visions about people who had died and led the police to their dead relatives’ bodies, perhaps someone else like this should be sought after to find Rhonda’s murderer.
You know, it's all very well for the parent of a deceased child to say after the fact, "I wish my child had just talked to me" or "I wish I had asked my child more about this". But then one has to wonder WHY the child did not feel comfortable talking to the parent, or WHY the parent did not ask the child about what was troubling him. I had this exact same problem growing up --- there were so many things I had wanted to speak to my old man about, and in later years when I finally did (often only because a major crisis had occurred at that point --- probably due to my not having spoken about that present disaster's issues before --- and so I had been forced to reveal my feelings about it despite my fears of being beaten and/or savagely scolded), he said, "Well, Son, I just wish you had spoken to me about these things back when they were a problem for you." But we all know that this was just so much empty talk --- I indeed HAD already tried --- many times, in fact --- to talk to my old man about my sorrows and concerns, but he would usually either just beat me, uncaringly brush me off, or give me bad advice, undeserved restrictions, criticism, etc. So that may have very likely been why Rhonda Hinson didn't speak to her parents; she may have been afraid that they would not have really listened to her or actually done anything to help her, just as my old man usually did whenever I tried to "open up" to him. Usually the reason someone is reluctant to talk to someone else is that they are afraid that this other person either "won't understand" or "will get mad" or "will think the person is silly" or whatever. If you feel like someone truly cares about you, then you will always feel comfy speaking to them, even if the matter is embarrassing, shameful, etc. Parents are directly responsible for their children's behavior and how they turn out, especially if the child is always diligently trying to do the right thing and is not purposely turning away from common sense, getting involved in crime, etc.
Sometimes teenagers can have the best parents and still be nervous to open up because they’re still processing an event, or feel a sense of shame or trauma they can’t bring themselves to articulate. It doesn’t reflect badly on the family, human nature can work against us at times.
@@jbcatz5 Well, maybe that is true sometimes. But I know how often it is the way I stated, where the parents themselves are preventing their children from speaking up. As I said, what good is speaking up if (1) the parents don't actually do anything useful to help, and/or (2) it just results in more unpleasantness, restrictions, punishments, etc.???
I agree. I didn’t feel like I could go to either of my parents with a problem or a concern. On a more positive note, I love Unsolved Mysteries and Robert Stack.
@@Openyoureyez83Maybe, although I think that maybe the term "made her" do it isn't the best --- nobody likes being ordered to do something, and so it might just make the child clam up all the more. "Gently encouraged her" to tell them what was troubling her likely would have been a lot better; also, as I say, it would likely have a lot to do with how she had been treated by her parents in the past when she'd tried to talk to them about her problems, concerns, confusions, curiosities, etc. If previously her parents had often refused to listen to her or take her seriously, then she may literally not have felt brave and/or comfortable to go to them for counsel and guidance. So many moms and dads don't realize --- or unfortunately in many cases, even **care** --- how important it is to always "be there" for their offspring, and be open to speak with them whenever they have something weighing on their minds. And the statistics speak for themselves in this regard --- I mean, think about it --- what do many of the young people who get into drugs, commit crimes, join gangs, etc. say when courts and/or counselors question them as to why they "turned away from the straight and narrow" to begin with? "I needed something to alleviate my agonies," they'll say. "My parents would seldom/never listen to me or guide me. As they say, 'We didn't talk'". Maybe parents reading this can take a pointer from what happened in the Unsolved Mysteries narrative here, and make more of an effort to connect with their OWN children and develop trust and understanding with them. If you truly want your impressionable/vulnerable youngsters to not turn to others ("because they might be dangerous and/or a bad influence") for advice or comfort, then YOU YOURSELVES need to adequately provide such solace to them! How can you ever expect a child to forgo offers from others of apparent relief from their personal agonies, if YOU never give him those comforts YOURSELF???
Makes me wonder how many people were on life support and Dr,s say there,s no more else we can do. I'm so glad, I never listened to my father's Dr's. Too. I'm glad all turned out for the family
When it gets to the point where you're literally on life-support, how many people have actually come back from that? It's stupid and irresponsible to suggest that people don't listen to doctors whose job is to treat and cure disease, as if they don't know what they're talking about. There are children who have died because their parents chose prayer over medical treatment. Those people belong in prison. It's bad enough when adults die because of their own religious stupidity, but when children die it's much worse.

Farina is a great actor but Robert Stack is the Original for Unsolved Mysteries. There is no comparison.
Farina was a likable guy. Terrible choice for UM host. Clearly, nobody can ever fill Stack's shoes.
Farina did a good job with what he was given in terms of UM, but he just couldn’t compare to Stack.
I recall seeing Robert Stack at Sinatra's 77th Birthday Party - long story but - he looked exactly as he appeared on screen.
Was a special night. I miss so many of my friends and acquaintances from the era - 💚🍀💚

I just read your comment in Robert Stacks voice, and it worked better haha
Gregory McDowell is likely the killer and his father Charles was likely involved in some way in the case.

How could u agree to burn your money into flames? That's ridiculous
The first story of Rhonda Hinson is so sad. Such a pretty girl who's life was cut short. Idk how the hell her killer can sleep at night knowing he did such an awful thing to such a young innocent girl. Makes my blood boil thinking about it.
It’s 41 years after and still no charges. 😢
@Josh Kolbo Someone who abused her, abused her trust,
It sounds like she was either sleeping with her boss or someone married at work. Because that's the only people who would know which road she would be taking home and when she would be on that road. That person killed her because she was going to talk.
I thought she was ugly but imo she was sleeping around and it caught up with her

They'd have fun.....I hate everybody, and work for myself, and am always suspicious. 😂😂😂😂😂
Dont care for Dennis Farina either, Robert Stack was the man with the plan not to mention his voice is nice and i love how he dresses. He is suave and debonair. I loved watching this every week.

@sam baa, yes and no. If he were a true horder, he would have had a house or a real apartment.

I dont know why the Howard Drummond story has stuck with me. I understand wanting to be alone, do your own thing. Of course it gets lonely sometimes. I really hope Howard was truly happy. I think the issues with he and his family not keeping contact had more to do with people living their own life. RIP Howard.
The worst episode of Unsolved Mysteries is still better than the best episode of most of the shows of today
Robert Stack and the music is the reason why this show became so successful. The voice and the music added to the mystery …of the unknown…the creepiness …the possibility that it can happen to us.

The only thing I find more disturbing than the opening theme is the ‘update’ music.
Why?
The update music is usually the happiest part.
Omar Barraza I agree there’s some sort of tenseness one the update theme music and you see the “actual” suspects and they do look and appear very creepy. Especially the mugshots but of course the actions and crimes done by the suspects are usually, heartless, cruel, and sadistic.😐

Don't physchic me.....I'm more suspicious than you, and have no problem telling you to stuff it.

The parents failed this girl imo they should of made her open up
@@Openyoureyez83Maybe, although I think that maybe the term "made her" do it isn't the best --- nobody likes being ordered to do something, and so it might just make the child clam up all the more.
The Psychic told her, “ the more money you give the more power you get ”...... wow if that’s not a red flag idk what is. Evil stuff
