According to his family, Mr. Deucker was a marathon runner who became schizophrenic and abruptly disappeared, leaving behind a note about "going West." Incredibly, his mother saw this, thought it was him, but had to fight with investigators to be taken seriously. They didn't think he descriptions matched, until she managed to get a third party to forward a photo to them. Schizophrenia is a hell of a thing. It just rips people's lives away, sometimes literally....so sad.
@@theajones6080 I'm so sorry, Thea. Growing up, one if my best friends had a schizophrenic parent, and I've spent many years working in the mental health field, so I can imagine how hard it has been. I hope she us willing/able to take medication, and that it helps!
Thanks for the update. Makes sense. Mentall Illness sometimes strikes early adulthood without warning. I wondered why there was no follow up, other than his identity. I mean, I get that solving how he died was done, but didnt Law Enforcement care WHY he died that way? I get that there are roughly 50 - 100 deaths a week that need to be investigated, but still this shouldve never been closed until the above was found out.
That Tammy chick on her last interview 16:00 looks like she is already starting to snap. She has a far-away look in her eyes that I've seen in many with schizophrenia. It doesn't rule out that she saw something awful. Or that she experimented with LSD. That may have been the final straw. In any case, I am disgusted with stage parents who exploit their own children in any way. That mother acts like Tammy was an extension of herself.
Thank you for saying this. I’ve always thought that interview clip was weird. She’s so…..spacey and her eyes are just not connecting to anyone or anything. She also gives a rambling nonsensical answer. I’m sure someone could write it off as her being vapid or dumb but a girl that active in pageants would be good at answering the judges questions. Something was definitely wrong.
Tammy's situation reminds me of a friend of mine who had sudden onset schizophrenia. He was totally normal and then suddenly he left his family home and went into the woods for 2 weeks and came back talking about this guy who he was talking to all the time. And said he could see his face in the rain. It was a lot more than that but he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Apparently young adulthood is when it can seem to come outta nowhere.
Sad. Almost as sad, there's plenty of people in the comments who believe it's all some Satanic ritual/demon worship thing....no wonder the state of mental healthcare is so poor.
@@daviddemaria3982 Yep. It has all the hallmarks of a mystery where only one person knows what happened - her. Anything more nefarious would have more clues by this point with a semi-famous person involved.
This episode I remember very well! That girl who went missing is so intriguing. I would love to know what happened to her! I love watching these old episodes and then google the cases to see if they've been solved.
If one of my kids thought someone was trying to kill them there is absolutely no way on earth I wouldn't get a name out of them. No way. I wouldn't sleep until I did and they damn sure wouldn't leave my sight until then.
Here are some corrections to Tami's disappearance that I have gotten which were posted by Tami's sister . : The car was not black, it was a white corvette, or blue maverick. She had on a blue blouse with flower appliques on the shoulders, and blue denim skirt. The house they were staying at was in Rockledge, Florida, not Cocoa. She may have been 3 months pregnant. She was taller than the 5'3".. they say, 5'4"-5'5". Also Tami's mother died in 1995 and her dying wish was obviously to know the truth about Tami.
Another person of interest in the case was John Crutchley, a convicted kidnapper and rapist suspected of killing as many as 30 women. He committed suicide in prison in 2002. Leppert's mother theorized that her daughter could have been murdered due to her knowledge of local drug trafficking. She said Tammy exhibited signs of paranoia, as she was cautious when consuming food and would not drink from open containers. She had also allegedly filed a report to police.
At the beginning of this Unsolved Mysteries segment, at the pageant they said that she was 5' 4 1/2 in. tall. I caught that because that is also my height.
Robert Stack’s awesome voice and the theme of this show always takes me back. In the early 90’s my Dad and I would both sit in this big chair we had in our living room and put our feet up on the Ottoman. He’d put his arm around me, I’d rest my three year old head on his chest and put my arm around his waist. We’d sit there in the dark room that would light up from the tv. This and “Are you afraid of the dark?” were our two favorite shows to watch together.

This show caused so much trauma for me as a child. I remember the one episode about the Queen Mary where the dude walks into the kitchen and see's the head on the counter staring at him. Now it's a nostalga trip.
The guy she was with last that let her out the car with no shoes or purse knows what happened to her. He was the last one to see her and claims she demanded he pull over and let her out. No 17yr old girl is getting out of a car where they know they will be stranded without putting on their shoes and grabbing their purse. Her telling him to let her out with no shoes, no purse, not even any money to call someone for a ride home seems very odd to me
why would she have no shoes on though, even in a car you normally wear shoes, maybe she wasn't wearing shoes that time, surely if he had anything to do with it the police would have chased it up and found some evidence on such an inexplicable, longstanding disappearance
I have ridden in a car with my dad barefoot and had no shoes with me if we are just going to a drive thru to pick something up and coming right back home.
@@shanemichaels3083 when you come from the beach and your feet get wet they get really sandy so it's really uncomfortable to wear shoes, so that's a possibility of why she may not of had them on in the car. We do that all the time where I live near the beach. I agree with Ashley P that the last guy to see her knows more than he's saying. At the very least, he wasn't a friend if he left her 5 miles from home with no shoes and no money to get a ride. I also highly doubt someone who was highly paranoid would want to get left alone on the side of the road unless she thought he was the killer. If that was the case, he didn't mention it...
@@roymakescomics i think that party she went to alone.....she was either spiked or took something and it affected her mentally so i do believe she had mental health issues but i also believe it was triggered by drugs around 20-25 years ago my friend went on holiday with his brother to spain, whilst over they they took some mdma on 1 occasion, it had messed with the brothers head, he thought he was under surveillance, thought people were out to get him and that he couldnt trust anyone, anyone at all....he had to be physically restrained from jumping from the 5th floor window in the hotel and as a result, they came home. a couple of nights later i was out with my friend, it was around 3am we were smoking weed and he had a call from his mother telling him to get home straight away, emergency. we were 5 minutes away and when we got back, there was blood everywhere all over the street it was like something off of scarface. what had happened was, convinced that the house was bugged and he couldnt do anything without being watched, he stabbed himself in the stomach repeatedly with a knife, he then went upstairs and jumped out of the window, landing on his head on the concrete outside, he survived, but he was put into a mental hospital..........all because he took mdma, once. before this, he was an IT worker had a lot going for him etc, wasnt the type to be wasting his life on drugs. he has since made a full recovery and now runs his own business, i do not know if he still has any ill effects of those days, but i am pretty sure he never did mdma again, you never know what shit you are taking in that stuff, what people put in it etc, it can destroy your mind.......there was another guy who got messed up from taking lsd, but thats a story for another day
Given that so much time has gone by and that her mother has died and she has not returned, I doubt Tammy Lynn Leppert is alive. I suspect that she hitchhiked and got into the wrong man's vehicle. Beautiful and barefoot, she was a walking target for any predator in her vicinity. Ironically, she may have been killed in the process of trying to escape whatever or whomever she was in fear of.
@A D exposure to the elements?? Lmao. She was in Coco beach florida maigai. Nobody gonna die to the elements there unless you walk into the sea on purpose.
Everything with Tammy is just insane on every level in regards to how clueless everyone in her life was. Woman is clearly having a schizophrenic episode, panicked that someone's trying to kill her, lying to police because she thinks they're in on the conspiracy to kill her, yet they let her just go out on the town the day after being released from the hospital. Her best friend agrees to just dump her on the roadside when she has a panic attack rather than taking her back home. Absolute incompetence from top to bottom.
I've worked in mental health and Tammy showed many of the symptoms of a psychotic break. Unfortunately the mentally ill are very vulnerable and a beautiful girl like Tammy would have been a target for any number of scumbag predators. It's just really sad.
She has a 72 hour stay with tests and an evaluation that DIDNT diagnose her with anything. Just maybe what she said was the truth and someone did want to kill her. Her knowing that is going to make her very paranoid. The girl disappeared and she’s still being labeled as just crazy. Very sad.
My mom doesn’t speak much English but this was her jam !!! I loved watching with her too growing up. I love Robert Stack!!!! 20+ years later and the theme song still creeps this shit out of me but I love it
When I was still using drugs, the longest I was awake was 9 days. Towards the end of those 9 days I swore I heard the guy in the hotel room next to mine plotting my murder and burial. I was so freaked out. I couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't. Even though I have 3 years sober I think back to that time and it still felt so real to me...
Maybe someone slipped Tammy something at the party who was a powerful person and she got away. From there he kept threatening her about telling anyone. Its sad because she was very young living an adult lifestyle
Yup true, my mum went to a party 15 years ago and someone put something in her drink and she kept saying somebody was watching her and wanted to kill her to this say she takes medication and is diagnosed with schizophrenia
So how does that explain asking her family to taste her food, thinking she's being watched through mirrors, and walking around outside with no shoes on? She was clearly a drug addict. Probably cocaine.
N.W.A., I think her family would have been aware of an addiction. Addictions are expensive, and without employment she would have had to steal from her family to get the drugs she needed. Remember too that when she was committed blood tests revealed no drugs. Marijuana is detectable for up to a month, so I doubt she was using drugs.
I have been looking everywhere to this particular episode of Unsolved Mysteries! I had remembered an episode where a girl took a baseball bat to a living room window, but had no idea it was Tami Lynn! This was such a great episode, and the fact that I finally get to view it on my birthday, is so cool! You have made my day dude! Best episode of Unsolved Mysteries! Thank you so much! I do have one question for you if you know the answer to it, when did this episode originally air, I wanna say it was early 90's when I was really young, but I'm not sure.
My theory is that Tammy wasn’t necessarily schizophrenic, mentally ill in some way, maybe, but I think she knew something and nobody listened to her, and someone (probably whoever “they” were) recognized and took her.
Ah, the Hudson Valley UFO! That was perhaps the best, most evocatively covered UFO case that the show ever did: I could practically see myself there, watching the object go by. And I almost had my chance, too: I moved to that part of New York in 1987, only three years after the incident occurred. I missed it by THAT much! Another favorite: the desperate young man at the private airport. I've actually met crazy people like that, and that case was so strange anyway.
the UFO incident happened partially in my hometown, Mahopac, which is right off the Taconic. I was born in '92, unfortunately but my mom was there for it and remembers everything. hope I get to see one some day... 💭🛸🤞
This used to be my alllll time fav show in the world... Well, after the original Wonder Woman (Linda Carter) show, and Batman (Adam West)... I watched it every night it came on. It was one of the few my mom and dad didn't say "ughhh" at! Lol! Even though half the time it scared the bejeezes outta me! Lol! I've been obsessed with true crime and mysteries ever since!!! Still the best show to grace TV! 😍😊❤😘 Thanks for the uploads!
Little more detail on the plane death: his parents had looked for him all those years after his death. They stated he was schizophrenic and that they weren't surprised about how he had died stating he "probably thought he could ride on the wing of a plane out west." He was known to be a fine athlete amongst his friends and loved ones.
The last person with Tammy had a fight with her, how isn’t he number one suspect lol. He was last person to see her and fight with her, then she went missing
Several age progressions have been created to show what Tammy may have looked like if she were still alive, by forensic artists Danny Sollitti, Diana Trepkov, and those from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Profiles detailing the case have been created by the Doe Network, National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in hopes of generating leads from tips. Leppert's DNA profile has since been processed, but her dental records and fingerprints have not been accessed by local police. It is believed that her dental information had been acquired at some point, but that poor record keeping resulted in the data being lost.

Not sure how long these will remain up, but I will enjoy them while I can. Tammy Lynn's story was so bizarre. I thought bad drugs at first, then paranoid schizophrenia. Maybe both a d maybe she witnessed a murder. She should not have been allowed to go to that party alone
Yes my first thought but why did the mental health facility not diagnosis her with schizophrenia. why did the mental facility release her if she wasn't better.
@@dt6556 : They said it in the video. Tammy did not talk about being chased by some unknown people. My guess is that behaved normally for 72 h. @@oliviajohnjohnolivia8142 why would anyone want to do that? Disgusting corporate Disney and junk food? She wanted to be in the pageants and was good at it. She enjoyed it and was looking forward to a career as an actress. It sounds as though she had adult onset schizophrenia.
Poor Tammy Lynn, she definitely met the wrong people. It still doesn't explain some of her behavior at home, like asking her folks to taste her food for her. Very very strange case, one of the most unforgettable ever seen on the show for sure.

There are rumors that Tami was killed by a former boyfriend. Some think she was a victim of serial killer Christopher Wilder. Tami has not been seen since 1983. Her mother died in 1995.
@Matt R Well, in that case i hope next time you shoplift some cereal, it includes a free brain on the box. All liberals are the same, throwing politics and resentment where is not needed nor asked.
nope, not at all. In the other hand at least i am not a virgin incel who laughs about the tragedy of a family, even when both mother and daughter are dead already. Anything they did/didn't do here doesn't matter now.
I remember the first time I saw the segment on the Hudson Valley UFO, I was so excited to hear that my area had it's own UFO wave. A part of me has been hoping the thing'll come back ever since.
Let this be an important lesson to parents out there: NEVER, EVER let your young daughter(s) enter a beauty pageants. It is a greater chance bad things could very well happen. JonBenet is a great (really bad) example.
JonBenet is widely believed (for good reason) to have been murdered bu her brother and her parents covered it up. It has nothing to do with her pageants but the media coverage she got did
@@BabyBytheBeach You are not wrong, but can you consider the amount of money Jon Benet Ramsey was making from the pageants made the family need to be manipulative so they could live off of her money, and if anyone saw anything she had to look mentally ill so no one would notice?
That girl had schizophrenia. She had all the classical symptoms of schizo. Her paranoid state was not normal. It wasn't just paranoid of being hurt. She was accusing her own family of plotting on poisoning her and locking the door on purpose. 200% schizophrenia..
I think Tammy (the first story) DID witness something she shouldn't have. Because tbe paranoid behavior happened so suddenly after spending a weekend away (or however long it was). And if she got out of her friend's car, someone who was watching her may have jumped on the opportunity to snatch her. And I'm not one of those people who believe in things like that. But this time I do.
Sadly, Tami's mother Linda passed away in 1995, without ever finding out what happened to her daughter. Her sister is still searching for her. Recently, there have been some claims that Tami was killed by a former boyfriend. The theory has not been confirmed.
I'm from Pine Bush, NY (part of the Hudson Valley), and we're known for being the UFO capital of the northeast. We literally just had our annual UGO festival this past weekend.👽
Maybe Tammy was suffering from a mental illness? Especially since there were periods where she acted without seeming to know who people were (such as when her mother stopped her from attacking the guy after accusing him of locking her out)
She had 72 hours stay in a mental institution. They ran test evaluated her. There was no drugs in her system and she wasn’t diagnosed with schizophrenia etc. Maybe she’s telling the truth. Nobody wants to believe it but it’s pretty obvious. She said somebody’s trying to kill her and then she disappeared forever. Yeah people are still sitting here calling her crazy that’s just sad.

It's hard to imagine this show today with all the advances in tech and forensics and there wouldn't be nearly the number of reunions. We just go straight to Google or Facebook. I used to LOVE this show as a kid!
Dennis Farina did a great job rebooting the show a few years ago, using Google maps and an actual call center background. May he Rest In Peace. But, the original was still creepier and that music and sketches use to give my little sister nightmares.
They actually are rebooting it. Netflix is taking it. I could see them covering Maura Murray, Jennifer Kesse, Brian Schaffer, the Delphi murders, Missy Bevers, Brianna Maitland.
Oh, that is wonderful. Another reason for me to love Netflix.
Found my sister on Facebook!
Robert Stack was the reason I watched this show. The stories as well, but mainly Robert. Fantastic host.
Hey, let's give Ryan Sully an standing ovation!! ✊✊✊🤝
Robert Stack's voice is as iconic for Unsolved Mysteries as the voice of the host of Forensic Files.

According to his family, Mr. Deucker was a marathon runner who became schizophrenic and abruptly disappeared, leaving behind a note about "going West."
Incredibly, his mother saw this, thought it was him, but had to fight with investigators to be taken seriously. They didn't think he descriptions matched, until she managed to get a third party to forward a photo to them.
Schizophrenia is a hell of a thing. It just rips people's lives away, sometimes literally....so sad.

Thank you so much for finally uploading this captivating program. My mom and I watched it every Wednesday night. Again thank you 😊
Man watching Unsolved Mysteries is so addicting, so compelling!
Thank you Unsolved Mysteries for the upload.

My daughter went through it at 23 and it looked almost exactly like this actress's betrayal.
Tammy’s situation reminds me of someone who had a long manic episode very on par with schizo, however everything they were saying were true. Very sad.
Sad. Almost as sad, there's plenty of people in the comments who believe it's all some Satanic ritual/demon worship thing....no wonder the state of mental healthcare is so poor.
This is what happened to her. She didn't witness any crime and no one was after her. Paranoid schizophrenia all the way.
@@daviddemaria3982 Yep. It has all the hallmarks of a mystery where only one person knows what happened - her. Anything more nefarious would have more clues by this point with a semi-famous person involved.

A white Corvette or blue Maverick Lol ur telling me they didnt know the difference between white or blue?
I went on Wikipedia and Tammy went missing in Cocoa that’s why they mentioned that city.

She's clearly schizophrenic.. she would've easily forgotten her shoes and most definitely would have left her purse.
@@roymakescomics i think that party she went to alone.....she was either spiked or took something and it affected her mentally so i do believe she had mental health issues but i also believe it was triggered by drugs
around 20-25 years ago my friend went on holiday with his brother to spain, whilst over they they took some mdma on 1 occasion, it had messed with the brothers head, he thought he was under surveillance, thought people were out to get him and that he couldnt trust anyone, anyone at all....he had to be physically restrained from jumping from the 5th floor window in the hotel and as a result, they came home. a couple of nights later i was out with my friend, it was around 3am we were smoking weed and he had a call from his mother telling him to get home straight away, emergency. we were 5 minutes away and when we got back, there was blood everywhere all over the street it was like something off of scarface. what had happened was, convinced that the house was bugged and he couldnt do anything without being watched, he stabbed himself in the stomach repeatedly with a knife, he then went upstairs and jumped out of the window, landing on his head on the concrete outside, he survived, but he was put into a mental hospital..........all because he took mdma, once. before this, he was an IT worker had a lot going for him etc, wasnt the type to be wasting his life on drugs. he has since made a full recovery and now runs his own business, i do not know if he still has any ill effects of those days, but i am pretty sure he never did mdma again, you never know what shit you are taking in that stuff, what people put in it etc, it can destroy your mind.......there was another guy who got messed up from taking lsd, but thats a story for another day

I agree with your theory

I think she seen something at the party… the fact that she was never found? Come on…
I've worked in mental health and Tammy showed many of the symptoms of a psychotic break.
When ur on a binge like that u think the craziest things. Even with your significant others. Wildest ish
You could make a horror movie with that!

God this was the absolute best show on regular television. I always looked forward to it and watched with my parents.
It has nothing to do with her pageants but the media coverage she got did
Pageants are just legal child abuse but as long as it makes money or parents feel special, children will continue to suffer.
@@carloscabrera5311 I agree it appears she was suffering from mental illness.
I agree.
Information on the internet says she witnessed a shooting during a drug deal, done by one of her boyfriends, and he later killed her.
Or, maybe she just had a really bad acid trip and it fucked her up. IJS.
Why did she go without shoes
Sadly, Tami's mother Linda passed away in 1995, without ever finding out what happened to her daughter. Her sister is still searching for her. Recently, there have been some claims that Tami was killed by a former boyfriend. The theory has not been confirmed.
Maybe the Cold Case detectives could give this a go
I'm from Pine Bush, NY (part of the Hudson Valley), and we're known for being the UFO capital of the northeast. We literally just had our annual UGO festival this past weekend.👽
Maybe Tammy was suffering from a mental illness? Especially since there were periods where she acted without seeming to know who people were (such as when her mother stopped her from attacking the guy after accusing him of locking her out)
Absolutely mental illness
I would speculate that maybe she took a bad acid trip. Can induce underlying paranoid schizophrenia

@@shanemichaels3083 Doesn't mean someone couldn't have slipped her some drugs without her knowing.
@@shanemichaels3083 We dont know. No one from that party she went too has ever came forward. Drugs can alter the mind
She was schizophrenic
i think she was either raped violently. or developed schizophrenia
Robert Stack was irreplaceable. Everything about him..His voice, that trench coat, his whole aura is irreplaceable. He was the perfect person for the job.
Right!!!!! I miss him. Farina was good but Stack???? 💕💕💕💕
😍
Thank you for posting all of these!!
anyone else ever find the theme song to be creepy but also weirdly comforting
It sounds like Tammy got ahold to some bad drugs at whoever's party.
She appeared twice in Scarface. In one of two she was the blonde girl with blue bikini talking to Tony's friend by car during the chainsaw scene.
And what was the other one
@VVV953 where she slapped manny when he was hitting on her
Min 19, when the man describes his UFO experience, gives me chills, granted the music gives it that effect, but it's just so hard not to believe his story
The UFO story was incredible! It really resonates with me, hoax or not. I LOVE phenomenon that brings people together, whether they agree or disagree.
The ufo stories and ghost stories scare me
Awesome show.
I live by near where Tammy lived and have driven by that bank she got dropped off (recently demolished). Hard to believe she got dropped off in that area and nobody noticed her.
My favorite show growing up...ohhh the memories!! 😊
I love this show's music.
Tammy thinks her broccoli might be poisoned so she gets her step brother to taste it??? Dayum that's cold.
