Suicide by a shotgun with a legal barrel length would require holding the gun vertically with the muzzle under the jaw; otherwise, the trigger would be unreachable. A shotgun would need a sawed off barrel in order to be consistent with the autopsy.
With Ray Ann's death, why didn't they analyze the fingerprints on the gun? Her ex boyfriend should have been considered a suspect, and this should have been ruled as a possible homicide. If they took her ex's fingerprints, and compared it with those on the gun, I'm sure this case would have been ruled as a homicide.

No way would that shotgun have stayed on the trunk of the car. it would have gone off. If I were the father, I would be looking for the connection between the boyfriend and the local politics. HOLY HELL! If the court took my child like that I would have made damn sure the local police got involved. Even if it took strangling someone...
I think more likely it was an accident. The boyfriend accidentally killed her while trying to take the shotgun from her. And his friends and family members lied for him not wanting him to go to prison for manslaughter, which can carry up to 5-10 years. I don't think it was premeditated murder, just seems unlikely he'd shoot her on purpose like that out on a street with so many potential witnesses.

They could do a whole episode just on that baby ring its pretty horrible. But im sure that judge and baby thief had some bizzare way to justify their actions. Back then it was probably easier to take advantage of poor working class people. There is actually another episode on here of woman that gave birth at a hospital and they told her 5 minutes later the baby was dead. The funeral home buried the child supposedly next to another newborn that died that day. And 30 years later when they escavted the remains and did a DNA test showed that the baby didn't belong to either mother. Which means the hospital was probably selling kids.
It's still easy to take advantage of poor working class people. Doesn't help that a lot of people are glad to be taken advantage of and don't vote in their own best interest. Fraud on a grand scale committed by a rich guy will carry a far lower sentence than a poor dude robbing a bank. The world is still unfair sadly.
Georgia Tann was profiled Deadly Women, and the late Mary Tyler Moore won an Emmy playing her in a movie. I think the title was Stolen Children, but I'm not sure
Ann Nee fraud on a grand scale by a well-connected guy will carry a smaller sentence (if any at all) than a poor guy smoking Marijuana. Get your facts right.
Madeline C. "Midge" Freehling died in Saxonburg in June 2014. She was survived by her son Donald Jr. ("Tiger") and three other children, her two brothers and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
I find your comment on every Unsolved Mysteries episode I watch. If I find one without your timestamps, I go through and add my own. I really appreciate the work you put in.
I felt they vastly underplayed how awful the Tennessee Children’s Home really was. At minimum, 19 children died from her abuse and neglect. That crazy woman literally kidnapped babies and children from ‘poor’ families and purposely placed them with rich upper class families. Likely a combo of classism and she knew she could get a huge amount of money from rich and desperate people.
Not to mention having a highly respected judge in on the racket too, to make it official and deal with parents who realised something was very, very wrong. Cancer was not the worst thing for Tann, she should have faced justice for her atrocities.
Agreed. There's much more grit to that scandal. For instance, the 'ugly' babies were left to starve in their cribs & buried in unmarked graves. 'Ugly' children didn't attract cu$tomers; Georgia couldn't make money off of them. So instead of providing she literally let them starve.
The lady was Pure Evil, probably the judge too. I wish there had been more time spent on this story. The reenactment of her having the little girl run to the limousine and then telling her chauffeur to step on it was bone chilling.
I know how Lynn feels. Being adopted, I had a good family, just not an affectionate family. Even though they did try to help me belong, I always will have that feeling of not belonging.
I know lots of people who have good families but, not an affectionate family even though they aren't adopted and they are with their biological parents.
@@JGAbstract I don't. The new format feels like a documentary. Also, one case per episode really makes it drag. The good thing about old UM is that the segments were short and to the point.
The parents of all these sons/daughters that die from suicide are in such denial that their child has killed them selves that they mistakenly believe that they were actually murdered. It’s a horrific thing that unfortunately happens quite frequently. What makes it so bad is that often times there an innocent person pursued with Allegations of murder, which if convicted can ruin that innocent persons life. The parents always say, “he wasn’t the type of person that would kill them selves, they must have been Murdered” or, “they were in a good place in their life, they were happy”. These people have to realized that suicidal thoughts can easily be masked by fake happiness and it can be hidden far too easily. This is so sad.
Thank you Citrus on your comment. All of us were in the house when we heard her say.....DO I HAVE TO KILL MYSELF? Then she stormed out not 5 minutes later we heard the shot and her X was sitting on the couch in front of us. There was no evidence non what so ever that he shot her. That's why authorities didn't hassle him.
Refreshing to see someone with a brain in these comment sections. She definitely killed herself. Detailed circumstances like her not being able to shoot from that angle will always be vague and undetermined. How do we know for sure that was the angle she shot herself from? How do we know the shotgun didn't just fall on the car from the recoil? All this info can be distorted by time or just sheer denial by the parties involved. When a child commits suicide, the parents blame themselves. Their pain is unbearable so to protect themselves they insist their child was murdered instead. Authorities know this, which is why they refuse to reopen the case. People here are absolutely certain her ex killed her, even going so far as openly speculating he was related to some police higher ups. Imagine that. He probably watched this episode and had to live with the fear of being wrongfully convicted for the rest of his life. Not to mention the impact this had on his social life. Her parents were the real evil. Unable to process their emotions they shift the blame on someone else. It reminds me of the parents of the girl who fell of a cruiseship while drunk and are absolutely convinced she got kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery in some sort of grand conspiracy. The simplest explanations are almost always true.
Professional wrestler Nature Boy Ric Flair was a victim of Georgia Tann's black market enterprise she had going. He said he had no desire to reunite with his birth mom because he loves and considers his adopted parents his real parents it's really sad. Georgia Tann was an evil person.
No, but FilmRise (the people with the rights to this old series I think) took the liberty of checking for updates and added them in before allowing the series to be reuploaded on RUclips. So if you see updates added in text with no voice that's how you know that's an update that came in after the show ended.
@@Vassilinia When FilmRise first uploaded the series to Amazon, they modified the old episodes considerably. Few or none of the releases there or on YT are the exact same running order as originally aired. Many of the updates they provided were brand new, and are, yes, identifiable as later additions by the lack of voice-over and by the dates (Robert Stack died in 2003). However, the Donald Eugene Webb revelation featured here came in July, after the first two seasons were uploaded to Amazon in early 2017, so this update, which is now on Amazon as well, is even more recent. The reissue of these modfied seasons has increased traffic at the old unsolved website as well as led to reevaluation of some cold cases.

Also wondering why those questions weren't raised on the show.

@@belletho6098 except, how long was it between the time Cindy was kidnapped and her mother was notified by the court? Couple hours, days? All relevant questions that at least 1 or some, if not all, should have been brought up on the show. Wow so they inserted an update as late as 2017, very cool.
They have updated up to this year, which is very cool indeed.

Yes: something went wrong on that trunk. No fingerprints, autopsy, powder on his hands...ecc

Middle class families too
Not to mention having a highly respected judge in on the racket too, to make it official and deal with parents who realised something was very, very wrong.

That's why authorities didn't hassle him.
in most cases i would agree, but shooting yourself in the chest with such a long shotgun is very difficult
The simplest explanations are almost always true.

so this show still gets updates? Saw the 2017 update

I typed this because I didn't think the update would be there since this show has not aired in a long time and what do you know the update was there how did that happen if they found him dead in 2017 and this show has been off for at least 20yrs
The person who uploaded this added the updates at the end of each segment
Film Rise added them
I heard Webb died in 1999... due to complications from a series of multiple strokes.
@@grocerygoat06 nah, he does from all those berries he ate
This 1 is a throwback
