i think Kyoraku's bankai is a perfect evolution of his shikai, since that one was of making children's games and it's rules into a reality. His is Bankai (in my opinion) looks to be Rakugo, a type of old japanese one man theatre.making his play into a reality via his overwhelming reiatsu, all of these physical manifestations happening in the 'stages' of the bankai being like in rakugo itself where the audience gets absorbed by the performance as it where, since rakugo theatre typically has a singular spotlight on the performer while the rest is dimmed. Kyoraki basically giving his opponent a powerfull suggestion where it's victim sees and feels it manifesting.
Im not too sure about that. He explains that his sword gave birth to the other in order to hide Nanao's family sword. Something like the duality of his personality implies that he had two swords since the start.
But his Shikai/Bankai have nothing to do with his two swords- he almost certainly had Bankai before he even hid that sword. The two swords thing is a separate aspect, his representing Nanao's family Blade, Ichigo's representing his dual lineage, and Ukitake's representing his body holding the Spirit of Mimihagi-sama
@@kierafurneaux3172 I think his two swords represent his shikai and bankai perfectly. He is one sword is a little girl and his shikai is children's games. His other sword is a grown woman and his bankai is a tragic love story. You don't see any relation there?
@@jschoma11 only thing I can see a relation between them is the theme of Maturity. Like Shiki is the little girl that enjoys games and bankai is the little girl has grown up and put away her childish ways. Idk though just a thought.

@@scottgrasser9737 Oh i heavily dislike the North one in comparison to the others. I do love how many abilities the Bankai itself has, but North leaves much to be desired. Then again, didn't Byakuya's have a similar thing for a long-ass time? Gokei has much versatility, and Senkei trades in everything for raw power, but Hakuteiken is just Senkei but stronger?
@@scottgrasser9737 Or maybe North is just everything! East, West & South all into one. Yamamoto’s Bankai is honestly so unfair. He literally just kills you by existing. I remember it being mentioned the flames are hotter than the surface of the sun. Not only that, it’s not even real flames, it’s literally just his REIATSU. Freakin nuts that guy.
@@liansandoval8866 The interesting thing would be whether fire can even exist within rukias bankai. If everything is immediately cooled to absolutely zero, Yamamoto would not be able to attack her. If not, he can protect himself with his bankai and ignore rukia's.

I think it also should be mentioned that Mayuri's Bankai is reactive, whereas Urahara's Bankai is proactive. Urahara changes the battlefield to suit his plans, whereas Mayuri analyzes the battlefield and uses what he's learned to form a plan. Both geniuses, but the way they fight is different.
What reason would he need to bring an illusion to reality when anyone who sees his release will perceive anything the illusion does as reality. Basically just make Kenpachi see an ally as Aizen & so on with everyone & theres no beating that! The only reason people stood a chance vs Aizen was cause he chose not to do this at all times making everyone but Ichigo into ally murdering drones killing each other. For example what he did to Momo nobody saw her saying "wait guys wtf are u doing, its me" No it looked like Aizen & reacted like he would if he got attacked till he released it. If his shikai isnt his bankai he has no need for a bankai really.
Gin is still my absolute favorite. I remember during the series that I had to defend him all the time hahaha. Was so disappointed that he had to die fighting Aizen.
I think for Hitsugaya people tend to forget that he'd likely only had bankai for maybe 20-30 years because he was only a third seat when Isshin disappeared. He's still young in terms of other Captains who have had much longer to learn to control their bankai. In comparision Gin and Byakuya have easily has double the amount of time to learn to use their banaki and Byakuya's bankai still grew within the series. I think Hitsugaya's bankai is still only in it's early stages of developement similarly to how Rukia's is. I think his abilities being so diverse is him still learning his bankai and how it works that's why it isn't seen to be as deadly as someone like Byakuya's bankai. I'd want to see his banaki after 50 or even 100 years.
even shunsui (who's now the head captain) said that Hitsugaya would've been stronger than him given 100 years or so, and now that we know about shunsui's bankai, thats either really good intuition on shunsui's part or his extreme humbleness coming out (which tbh I think it's just both)
@@lilbladeknight im not sure if Hitsugaya does tho. I think Kubo is really good at not falling into that especially because we see characters like Zaraki, who is one of the strongest, completely decimate three of the sternritter without much fanfair...even one who basically becomes him. We also know that Zaraki has been aroubd since Unohana was the kenpachi so he is fairly old in terms of shinigami age. However his zanpakuto release abilities are immature at best because he simply hasn't needed them until this point. I think the reason we see Hitsugaya struggle is to highlight his age/experience more than anything. He heavily relies on his bankai to make up for where he seemingly falls short so to lose it is kind of crippling. In comparison we know that characters like Byakuya are completely able to fight using other means such as kido or simply their shikai. That beibg said since we know that Byakuya and Gin were possibly similar in age to Hitsugaya 100yrs ago they are both probably the closest comparison we have to use for where Hitsugaya falls in terms of maturity in power. Where Byakuya tends to use his bankai often it is usually to finish a battle quickly rather than because he has no other means of fighting. Gin however rarely uses his bankai. So much so that no one knew that it has a poisoning ability until he explained it. There are even Captain's that we have never seen them use their bankai in canon for one reason or another, Shinji is among them. I think definitely given 100 years like the previous commenter said Hitsugaya would have grown enough into his powers to be able to fight in a similar style/level to the Captain's around him.
It's been told to us repeatedly that toshiros bankai is so immature that it forces his body to age up- like seriously does know one find the fact that his powers can freeze literally anything even reiatsu strong enough
The difference between Mayuri and Kisukes bankai is that Kisuke earns and has a relationship with his sword whereas it’s been said that Mayuri forces his sword to Achieve things. The reason kisukes is so Strong is the harmony he has with his sword; something that a lot of these other wielders don’t have.
Shunsui sure ranks up there. What also adds to it is his willingness to drop his affable element and get deadly serious when things get intense with either an opponent or the battlefield at large. The fact that he plays it like a game adds a sinister element to it all. Shunsui is definitely someone to be friends with and definitely not an enemy, luckily all you have to do is buy him a drink.
@@giovonemendoza6531 it's a powerful bankai, Lille's just immortal, and he still got his head blown off, if it were any other mortal they would've simply died right after.

Shunsui is insane and the only one that fought am elite guard practically on his own until Nanaos BS zanpaktou came in and haxed lillie to bits
Shunshui and Urahara have such abstract powers and it’s fun to see them use it. One is based on “play” and the other “construction”. The Shikai are small but the bankai is broken.
I'd say their shikai are also pretty versatile. Kyoraku can fire mini tornados and do high amounts of damage to his opponent with normal strikes using the color game. And Urahara's shikai can fire energy projectiles, create shields, nets and bombs on the nets, allowing him to capture and do high damage to his opponent
I've always saw Kyoraku's Bankai's fourth stage as a sort of tribute to Yamamoto's Zanka no Tachi North. Both are mega slashes that instantly defeat any enemy they come in contact with. And it makes sense, since Yamamoto and Kyoraku had a teacher-student relationship and Kyoraku was very curious about Old Yama's true power, one that Yamamoto himself calls "demonic" when talking about his painting of 1000 years ago. So, when Kyoraku gets serious upon releasing his Bankai, his own demonic, ruthless side comes out. Finishing off in a single, merciless slice.
Toshiro's bankai ability to shut off other people's powers already makes that OP. The writers never allowed him to kill anyone as most of those characters were met to be killed by others or stay alive.
I feel like he's been with Yachiru for so long that it basically counts as having trained with bankai for years. Who knows their zanpakuto better than Kenpachi, after all, even if he wasn't aware of its true identity the entire time? It's like growing up with your best friend for decades and discovering when you're old that you were actually siblings all along.
I always thought the theme of Shunsui's zanpakutou is that his shikai brings childrens' games to life and his bankai brings adult games to life, ie theater. I though that was pretty neat. I think he probably has a set of "plays" that he can use, the same way he can use various children games in his shikai. so that's why this was so situational, it's just one of the very situational options he has. we just saw only one 'sequence', or play
Shikais are representative of their outer layer personality. Shunsui is a very laid back and goofy person and his Shiva represents that. Beneath that personality though is his real self. He is cutthroat and not afraid to cheat or kill you where you stand and let you die in disgrace if that is what needs be done. Bankais are representative of your TRUE self and personality. Almost every Shinigami is like this.
I saw a comment say that "Play" to a child is a game, which is his Shikai, and "Play" to an adult is theater, which is his Bankai. So in a sense, both his shikai and bankai are "playful".
He definitely does. He goes on about how he won't use it near allies because he would kill them by AoE, and yet: 1: The actually lethal part of the Bankai is done by hand. The white thread. 2: Nanao was within the range of his Reiatsu and was completely fine. 3: He knew Nanao was there, so likely chose a weaker, but more selective story. 4: If his Shikai has multiple games, his Bankai should too.
I loved how he explained his ability to Nnoitra: "Did you know you can hit harder with a sword if you use two hands?" Many characters get to explain their cool ability to their opponent all smug like. Why not Kenpachi?
I think Yamamoto’s bankai doesn’t necessarily remove things from existence, but more like the flames are so hot and intense, whatever it touches instantly disintegrates into ashes.
It really does remove things from existence. If you were to drop an object into the sun there would be absolutely no trace of it, not even ashes. Just like Yamamoto's bankai.
@@celestielsigh things dropped in the sun, with what we know now, don't get burnt out of existence as matter can never be created nor destroyed. Just change the form of said matter
I always thought that. I know it would disappoint a lot of people, but I kind of thought of it as his Shikai was like his misleading lie about his bankai with the water/mist reflections. Or maybe he’s shikai was just so broken he never needed his bankai. Either way I always thought it was a cool idea.
@@Lindy-kv3wy Someone did a video theorizing his Bankai and I agree completely. It's total hypnosis still but applied to an additional sense, chronoception. He can control your perception of time, same way mayuri killed the espada. It is a powerful ability but he frankly doesn't need it.

I wanted Kenpachi to say Bankai: Yachiru Kusajishi. Shunsui shikai makes children’s games real, his bankai makes adult games real. I think that’s one of the reasons the woman sits with him but the girl isn’t there in the bankai. The girl is the shikai and the woman is the bankai. Also I thought Komamura turned into a dog because he felt vengeance in his heart? I don’t think it had anything to do with his bankai so I don’t think that’s a drawback of it. His final bankai was actually good, I agree.
Komamura turned into a dog because he gave his heart away. The ritual basically grants you a power up but afterwards you go back to being a member of his original clan.
Shunsui is such a dope character to me in fiction in general. Def reminds me of the “drunken master” stereotype seen throughout kung-fun films. I feel like his Bankai made a lot of sense, not just with the dichotomy of seriousness vs the children’s games of his shikai, but with his character as an author in the Seireitei and a very laidback, yet introspective and reflective individual. His bankai is basically a living literary device
Loved the video and the analysis, but what I REALLY loved was when you said Kisuke's bankai was one of your favorites. I thought it was a perfect fit for Urahara and just looked amazing. Seeing him come back from losing his eyes was phenomenal. Great list!
12:20 That is what I love about Gin. He does the thing everyone with at least two functional brain cells would do... HE LIES! It's kinda like that Ricky Gervais movie "The Invention of Lying", where the mc is the only person on the planet with the ability to lie, and he takes advantage of that!
I believe Kyoraku's Bankai is reminiscent of his Shikai in that he can bring Japanese Folklore (legends/myths) to reality, just like he does with japanese children's games.
It's that, but also I think it's got something to do with the weird neglected-lover type of relationship he has with his zanpakuto. It's like the shikai represents the "games" children play, but the bankai represents how series the consequences can be as those games that were fun when young change to painful dramas later in life. It's like Katen Kyokotsu wants to punish Shunsui along with his opponent, making him suffer in order to earn her affection and defeat his enemy. Just my .02... it's always how I interpreted it.
Still extremely dumb & could result in himself getting killed or teammates which makes it horrible. Imagine if he used it vs Aizen or Gin or YouHAAA BLAWHK 🤣 most embarrassing way to die is by your own swords power willingly!

Ichigo's true bankai was his final swing at Ywach. It was the the sword that could cut through anything. It was the original Zangetsu something we haven't seen since Aizen's arc. While we thought it would break again it literally unsheated from its sheat. The thick metal ontop of it was just a sheat all along
@@neilhinton6477 My only argument about Ichigos bankai being more than just raw power is because ywach literally was unwilling to let it appear and when he tried to break it a second time it didn't break
I think it's possible that Kyoraku's bankai can tell more than just the one story, similar to how it can play more than one game. I'd imagine that the story he told was the first to come to kind using his bankai
I've also thought this for a while, but much like with his shikai, I don't think Kyoraku has any control over which story gets told, it's all up to what his sword feels like doing
I think we are all wrong. After rereading the fight at the end, Yhwach states that his ability is no different than the abilities Ichigo and Orihime have. The only difference is that he can change the future of all the realities he can see. So, Orihime, we learned from Aizen can ‘Reject’ the reality in front of her, i.e.: Whatever is within the range of Santen Kesshun’s shield. So, I’m assuming that Ichigo’s ability is to break his fate, as many assumed when the chapter first came out
@@patrickbone5993 Basically people theorised that his bankai has the ability to shatter his fate, which probably means that he is no longer fully effected by stuff like the almighty
That kind of makes sense. It could explain why she couldn’t reject the hole ulquiora blew in his chest. His hollow which is his actual soul reaper powers leaked out and broke the rejection.
Knowing what Gin's Bankai does, he could've killed Ichigo a few times. Practically with every cut Ichigo could've died if Gin's only wanted it. That's insanely overpowered.
I agree with most of the items in this list but Hitsugaya's mature bankai is a lot more powerful than the 9th place its been given here. It's nullifying ability is one of the most powerful hax in the series. The only reason Gerard survived because he is basically unkillable. Since Kubo used Hitsugaya for a lot of fights, people seem to underestimate his mature form's bankai.
Not to mention, he's one of the very few people whose Bankai can be reformed after being broken, without any repercussions. Realistically, if it's used somewhere like the human world with an abundance of water, it's practically unstoppable. You'd need something like Zanka no Tachi to take it out, and even that too with a lot of collateral damage.
My going theory with that is that his bankai doesn’t actually do much to help him. Similar to how Sui-Fengs shikai is way better than her bankai and her bankai isn’t suited to her at all. Aizens shikai is just OP and I reakon his bankai is powerful but have a feeling the drawback is that since his shikai is gone so is his complete hypnosis and his bankai doesn’t give him any benefit that would require him sacrifice his complete hypnosis.
@@TheKnight212 or he simply just didn't have a bankai to begin with. With a shikai ability like that there's no need to achieve bankai. @@DragonballFreak12 there is no way Aizen didn’t learn Bankai just to purely know what his bankai is. The kind of meticulous planning aizen did there is no way he wouldn’t unlock bankai to see if it is something that will benefit him and speed his plans up. He isn’t the type of person that would leave that stone unturned because if something can be of use to him he will use it. Yes he knew he would one day reach a level beyond all that but that doesn’t mean he would just simply ignore learning an ability that could give him another ace up his sleeve. He only loses if he doesn’t try because then it’s a forever unknown to him on if his bankai could have benefitted him and potentially given him an even greater edge.
I think if you were considering the wielder as well in this list, putting Toushirou's bankai where you did definitely makes sense. It's a key point throughout the series how Hitsugaya is always holding back for fear of accidentally damaging his allies. We see that fear get removed when he is a zombie and with a single swing of his sword in what I assume is shikai just release a MASSIVE wave of ice. He, unfortunately, didn't get to do much with his bankai against Mayuri cuz it's Mayuri and he has an answer to everything BUT the point I want to make here is that if Hitsugaya didn't actively hold back or if Hyorinmaru had a different wielder with more killing intent, then perhaps the bankai would be able to actually strike killing blows. It IS considered the strongest of the ice types after all, if Hitsugaya wanted it to kill I think it could.
So Kyoraku’s bankai fits his character and his shikai. It’s adult entertainment instead of kid entertainment. And adult life is usually sad which is why the play was somber. On top of my guess is the play isn’t the same and he can change it based on his own ideas much like the children’s games he plays. It’s gotta be more then top 4.
as someone who loves kyoraku...his bankai sucks none of the effects matter when it ends in a decapitating string and it has the problem of a lot of end story bankai were its a effect that cant be fought against so you just read pages of the bankai doing its thing as the other guy just stands there and watches...its kind of boring

I think the fact that Urahara Kisuke didnt use his Bankai vs Aizen says something about how vulnerable Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame is at the start of his Bankai - she's a sitting duck and Aizen would have easily destroyed her IMO - making his bankai very dependant on the element of suprise / distraction.
I personally think byakuyas bankai deserved to be at a higher number, it's very versatile and has high damage output too being extremely difficult to defend against.. on the other hand, kenpachi's bankai is just brute strength and no hax and more often than not hax wins against brute force.

His shikai already allows him to rewrite the perception of reality of everyone around him and his reiatsu is so stupid high it no sells the abilities of other Zanpakuto. Developing a Bankai requires intense willpower as much as training, but Aizen was so effortlessly strong he most likely never faced a situation that pushed him to the next level.

I wouldn't say Hitsugaya has no killing ability, but it's not as immediate as other high-level zanpakuto. It's mostly based on suffocating enemies rather than freezing them to death. If they can't get out of the ice then they're going to die from lack of oxygen eventually. Ryuzenka can shatter an enemy and Sennen Hyoro causes extensive crushing damage - enough to knock a low-level espada out of his resurrection form, which is the only time I believe we've seen that done to an Arrancar. But the main thing with Hyorinmaru is it's best suited for large-scale fights with many enemies as opposed to 1-on-1's. The main reason Hitsugaya holds back in most of his fights is because he's worried about accidentally killing his allies if he loses control of his own power, even if they're far away. It's area-of-effect capabilities are massive to the point where if he goes all-out he could accidentally kill a lieutenant who's 5 miles away, and that's at the beginning of the series.
@@tyronjasonhuff It's interesting that the two 'ice' Bankai are pretty much the exact opposite in terms of strengths and weaknesses. Hitsugaya has complete control over his bankai (as evidenced by its wealth of different techniques) but can't bring out its full raw power because Hitsugaya himself hasn't reached his physical peak. Whereas Rukia's bankai is nothing BUT uncontrolled raw power, it's effectively a bomb that flash freezes everything within a certain radius, ~including the user~. It's makes you wonder who might actually end up stronger in the long run. Because while we've seen a glimpse of full-powered Hitsugaya, we have NO IDEA what full-power Rukia might be capable of. She's already a more technical, kido-based fighter by nature, imagine what would happen if she took all the energy her bankai is giving off in all directions and learned to channel it into a more focused, directed technique
@@alexandernelson3703 i agree with what you said but technically speaking, its stated that hitsugaya's sword is the strongest ice type zanpakuto, so i dont think rukia will be stronger than him, even after she master her bankai
@@alexandernelson3703 I think hitsugaya had to get his powers in check so he wouldn't kill anyone - for example his grandmother who he was slowly killing (he was untrained)
I imagine Ichigo’s true bankai is just Mugetsu without the drawback of losing his shinigami powers. It would make sense seeing as he is in complete control of all his powers. Just a more powerful Mugetsu.
@@kianvulcan3733 it was said that his true zanpakto was as strong as mugetsu vs aizen . But how strong would be mugetsu if ichigo used it in tybw, where he is way stronger than in arrancar arc.
Nah, that wouldn't make any sense if you think about it. To use Mugetsu Ichigo had to pretty much give all of his Shinigami power to combine it into one singular attack and that would be much stronger than always having Shinigami power but being able to do almost the same thing. Though most people have theorised that his Bankai is not a pure offense ability but a "special" one similar to The Almighty.
@@kianvulcan3733 That’s jus his True Shikai, when he slash Yhwach the outer layer shatter and revealed a all black blade (his old zanpakuto sword) that was his True Shikai
Urahara's Bankai 'Kannon Biraki Benehime Aratame' really fits him and for me the most versatile due to its limitless modification that can be applicable both to himself and to his opponent.. Its just to sad that it has been showcased for a short moment in the manga but still hoping for atleast a sidestory for this one.
The thing with zanka no tachi is that it facilitates Yamaji being a kenjutsu Master. We've seen how strong Kenpachi gets when he uses a lil bit of Kenjutsu, Imagine Yamaji having both of his arms intact
The true nature of Senbonzakura is multiplying or scattering. That's why his current shikai looks like his old Bankai. The blade fragments from his current Shikai multiplies itself to gain more blades. Most people don't know this, in Chapter 569, Byakuya said he was able to study senbonzakura again from it's very core. The CORE ESSENCE of Senbonzakura is scattering or in other words multiplying.
what could possibly be aizen's bankai? here's my theory: aizen only uses his shikai against Yhwach which bothers me. this makes me believe that aizen's bankai is a non-combat ability. like it doesn't inflict damage to the enemies. however, it gives him the insight of the unknown. he just knew that ichigo would be able to defeat yhwach that's why he knew of every single perfect situation he should attack. like future insight or ultimate cognition. if he uses his bankai, all the unknown variables reveal themselves before him. thus, enabling him to create a perfect plan. this is also the reason why he was able to perfect his experiment with the hollow white. he somehow knew that masaki would appear out of the blue and get entangled with his experiment which will eventually create the ultimate being that is Ichigo. he somehow knew that urahara knew of a way to surpass the limits of shinigami and that is through hogyoku. he somehow knew that rukia is the perfect shinigami to go to karakura town which eventually led to her meeting ichigo. he knew that gin is gonna betray him. that's the reason why he procrastinated and pursued ichigo's friends instead of going straight into disintegrating the real karakura town. he's waiting for gin to strike him. and he knew that he would be resurrected by the hogyoku no matter what. just like how he resurrected back when he was cut in half by mugetsu. however, this doesn't take away from his abilities as compared to others. aizen is already so broken even without releasing his shikai. i mean, the way he defeated the captains one by one in the fake karakura town arc. remember when he negated the effects of soi fon's shikai with just mere amount of reiatsu. i'd like to think of this concept as the opposite of perfect hypnosis - the revelation of all truths.
My theory for what Aizen's bankai would be is thus. His would be similar to Tsukishima, but to a much more powerful extent. He could modify somebody's memories, and make them believe they are whatever he wishes they are *during the duration* of the Bankai, meaning they will go back to normal once the bankai ends. But I also really really like your idea, yours fits way better narratively speaking.
i’m guessing it’s just an extension of his Hypnosis powers. Like he can gain control over your senses in more ways then just seeing it. The abilities most people think his bankai has just contradicts what happens in the show. Like Reality warping? what woulda been the point in all the trouble he went through if he could just warp reality?
The 1000 year blood war arc showed so many new things with everyone coming out from training with new things like their bankai and even evolving their bankai to being 1 with them (Renji)
I really appreciated Kubo-san essentially bringing Renji back to the forefront with his new bankai. Before the tybw arc Renji was merely a punching bag. But with his bankai overhaul Renji was brought back to badass status. Kudos to Kubo!
The only thing which I can argue about is that I dont think hitsugayas bankai lacks of kill potential. The bankai itself I think is alot stronger than the rest of the under 5th rank for me, its just basiclly our boy is not strong enough himself to use it in full potential. Lets say if that yama wields that sword and hitsugaya wields ryujin jakka, wouldnt be the outcome be the same(ranking the bankai)? Probably it will be different story. The thing that im trying to say, if we really want to rank the bankais by their own power and criterias, we should think a little bit outside of the box, as putting them in equal "hypotetical" user. Not sure if you will understand my thought. BUT after all its up to our imagination or the author what he claims. P.S. I love your videos, im one of your first batch subscribers (before 1k) and all I can say thanks for the content, its aways entertaining (1st time commenting on your video) P.S.S. Im not a fanboy of hitsugaya, its just a thought of mine which came up while watching the video.
True. Toshiro's Zanpakuto is the only one aside from Ryujin Jakka to even be referred to with the word "ultimate". And feezing Gerard wasn't just some strong freezing ability like when he froze Luppi or Halibel. Toshiro has only been a Soul Reaper for a short time. 50 years I think it was said. Yet his true Bankai could already flash-freeze an incarnation of Gerard that was stronger than the one that forced fully unleashed Kenpachi into Bankai. A Kenpachi who in base could kill Bankai Unahana, someone easily Shunsui tier. And, even in Bankai, the amount of power Yachiro thought he needed to combat that version of Gerard was so much that Kenpachi's arm was ripped off from his own backswing.
That's actually true hitsugaya at the end is still a kid he is young out of all shinigami he has the most room for growth he has big potential it's actually amazing he is this strong when he is so young but we can only imagine how strong he will get as he grows up but considering how strong he is as a kid and that kyoraku said hitsugaya will surpass him in 100 years we can definitely say he will grow even stronger than he is now
Toshiro's bankai is op af it negates abilities and freezes everything Toshiro rukia are like yama and bazz man worlds apart Kubo just hates toshiro so much he gotta be paired up with gerard, im sure he could beat gremmy

@@laddjuuzo4998 yeah it’s hard to keep going with a “dead” title as your focus. I get it. I just really enjoyed watching him enthusiastically talk about details I’d never even noticed for 20 minutes without taking a breath.
Just thought I'd point out that at no point in the manga it's stated Rukia is unable to move in Bankai form. It's explicitly stated that her movement is halted by the fact she's reached absolute zero, which she can also do in Shikai. From what we've seen all her Bankai does is vastly increase her range beyond the tip of her zanpakuto and increase the speed with which she can change her body temperature. Had she not needed to go to 0K she would have been able to walk or even shunpo like normal.
Yeah! I am also thinking the same.. it goes perfectly with previous 3 acts where sharing is common throughout. Maybe he will die if act 4 is played! I think DBZImran has spoken about this.. like both end up dead after act 4. Or is there any other "rule" to act 4. Love to hear other thoughts..
@@gloriousanimationz5244 nah, absolutely nope. Against Stark, Ukitake would have reacted differently to the idea of him using it, and Shunsui wouldn't have thought about using it against him. It's definitely not the case. Shunsui also says his bankai is way stronger than Histsugaya's and I doubt it would be suicidal. What I think is that he CAN lose under his own rules, but that won't really happen because he can choose the novel/theater stages. So even though his own Zampakuto wants to punish and make him suffer, it will still favour him. She represents his negative/suffering self which is why it gives the sensation of suicidal acts. Shunsui isn't afraid of dying because he's suffering so much inside (as those characters in his stage), that the pain has become dull and he's okay with it. He can withstand any kind of suffering (when he activates his bankai he probably gives everyone his own inner most deepest negative and suffering emotions) reason why he won't lose in a contest of determination (he has nothing to lose and will give it all once the opponent has been determined evil (withouth possibility of change) or is an enemy). His bankai works to everyone, foe or ally, because in war there's no good or evil, just death and suffering...and well there's more I can tell, but too much text to my liking. See ya.
Nah because that guy did die but revived. It’s like drinking poison with zombie man(?) you’d both die but he would redirect and you’d remain dead. My point being althat at the point lille died shinsui would’ve died too THEN lille would restructure himself. That would be an extremely useless bankai
Saying Toshiro Bankai #9 strongest Bankai I find kind of hilarious... you greatly underestimate him. Being able to freeze all matter, also being able to freeze something stopping all of its abilities like (freezing hope itself)
I feel like if Kira ever got Bankai, his sword wouldn’t change... it would simply increase the weight of EVERYONE in a certain circumstances so they had to assume the position! Then, he’d just walk around taking heads!
I always though it would be cool if his Bankai fucked with gravity, like Brago from Zatch Bell. He just projects a field in a certain area that forces anyone who isn't of a certain level of power to their knees, and then slows everyone who is strong enough to resist it.
Just like himself, that would only work to a point and yet piss off stronger opponents who would just one shot him instead of potentially risking a fight and leaving him alive lol.
Ice has never been my favorite of abilities in fantasy fighting shows. Its versatility can be awesome but like Toshiros ability it can either one shot or stall. Actually i take some of that back a good representation is Esdeath. Thats how you use some damn ice.
I respectfully disagree with your opinion on Ichigo's bankai. Tensa Zangetsu is without question the strongest bankai in Bleach. No one on this list (nor in the entire series from what we've seen), has a bankai that gives them the ability to actually fight bankai Ichigo equally, let alone defeat him. And although poorly portrayed, the fight with Yhwach is enough evidence to cement this fact. Yhwach at his strongest with Soul King absorbed had to use the hax ability of the Almighty to go into the future to pre-emptively disable Ichigo's bankai because he feared its power. And we later saw why. Even after getting his hollow plus quincy powers drained, the bankai had the power to literally one-shot Yhwach not once, but twice. Yes, Yhwach was distracted in both instances but that doesn't detract from the point. The fact that Tensa Zangetsu has that much raw power puts it in a league far beyond anyone else in the series. And as Ichigo himself said, he didn't even have mastery over his powers when he challenged Yhwach at the final battle. To top it off, Mayuri outright says in the Can't Fear Your Own World novels that no one is stronger than Ichigo. My personal belief for why Tensa Zangetsu's abilities are so poorly shown at the end is that Kubo kind of wrote himself into a corner by making Yhwach so strong with hax abilities and then having Ichigo, as it turned out, be far stronger than that even. So he had to come up with some way to "add tension" rather than Ichigo coming in and just one-shotting the Big Bad from the start.
@@ichigokurosaki9098 Oh my, Ichigo himself :O :D. Kubo did a poor job of showing the true abilities but it just cannot be denied, Tensa Zangetsu stands above all.
I think Shunsui's bankai fits him. His shikai which brings children's games to life is similar to one aspect of his personality as with most if not all shinigami, he has a childishness to him however, he can also be a serious adult when the need arises. And his bankai shows that. It's almost as if the he grows up children the children's game and now finds himself in a grownup world with grownup problems.
Honestly, Toshirous Bankai looks extremely bad when compared with Rukias. Rukia seems like she was almost designed as a potential inverse to Yamamoto in Bankai. Where she can grow into this absolute Ice goddess who’s mere presence freezes everything and literally embodies the ice, like Yama did fire. Toshirou just kinda makes and controls ice but doesn’t seem to have the absolute force of nature potential Rukias seems to. Just my opinion.
It was nice that you pre-emptively stated that the list just include 'Manga-only', Senjumaru's Bankai in the anime recently would have mopped with anyone jn this list
I’m glad you were able to mention Kenpachi’s actual ability to think and strategize. I also think Toushiro’s bankai is versatile because even he said it, as long as there’s moisture in the air, Daiguren Hyorinmaru can reactivate and strike; also, it is mentioned that Hyorinmaru by Izuru Kira that it is the strongest ice-type Zanpakuto. Maybe Toushiro doesn’t strike to kill first, he strikes to freeze first and then strike down.
for me, i think unohana's bankai is to be put into perspective since it melts everything In her domain. Kenpachi was revived several times just to see how powerfully her bankai was, to get the real kempachi out.
I think Ichibei should be #1 since he named everything in the Seretei . He is basically God in shinigami form. He’s named every zanpakuto/Bandai, every Kido, everything. He’s granted everything in the Soul Society it’s power At least that’s how I understood it, I may be wrong. Top 5 hax in the series for both combat and utility
Talking about Shunsui’s bankai, it does actually affect him. The wounds of his opponent go to him as well as his power is also drained from him in the third stage. And, of course, the one shoot ability kills him too. The only reason why he survived is becuase his opponent did. If his opponent had dyed , Shunsui would be dead too
Nah, there's nothing to indicate that. He should've immediately known Lille was still alive, then, instead of resting with his Zanpakuto spirit. What saved him was A) not being affected by Dan 1, B) not regretting hurting the other person which inflicts Dan 2, and C) knowing not to run away from the abyss which then triggers him to do Dan 4. If Shunsui did in fact experience the same things as Lille then yes he too would be dead, but otherwise it is incorrect to say necessarily "both have to die or both have to live" or "everyone involved has to die or everyone has to live" given that it is suggested his bankai affects more than just him and one other target, but everyone caught in between. Of course, the danger is if a comrade happens to get caught up in it and doesn't know how the "Play works" then they will likely try to escape the abyss and end up with a blown-off head as well.
I have to wonder if Zanka no Tachi's defense could be overcome by the whole "Shinigami battles are a battle of reiatsu" thing. At the end of the series, we have some pretty insane power levels. Ichigo's own reiatsu was overflowing to the point where it was made visible, without him even intending it to do so (Yama's bankai intentionally shapes his reiatsu into a flame-like appearance)
@@chrisbarnesbarnes8332they aren't yammas reitsu also takes physical form on command they still have insane reiastu but thier not the only ones lmao ,also them overcoming his flames is completely headcanon since some hax can't be overcome through sheer reiastsu eg book of the end, Kyoko suigetsu, the balance, Antheisis, x axis the miracle ,the Almighty etc
Best Bleach creator right here. Hope your channel breaks through by at least the new anime, but I hope before that. Single-handedly re-ignited my love for Bleach.
Agreed on the number 1. Yamamoto Ganryu's bankai and even his whole character is one of oblivion. However, the downside to Yamamoto is that he is very straightforward and head strong BECAUSE of how powerful he is. He overestimates his power sometimes and has been outwitted before by others that were more cunning (Aizen with wonderweiss, Ukitake and Kyoraku when they brought in Unohano, and even against Yhwach who outsmarted Yamamoto by making him use all of his power against someone else, hell even that guy that could control time windows gave Yama trouble by absorbing his attack and directing it back at him). 1 vs 1, strength vs strength no one beats Yamamoto, but, if you have help and can direct Yamamato to use all of his power for something else, or exhaust him somehow, he can and has been beaten. Basically, Yamamoto must be deceived in order to be beaten because he cannot be overpowered.
I am a big fan of your channel . My hubs and I think your doing and awesome job here and want to send you much love and blessings on your growing bleach family.
Nice job! I've only read up to 366 or wherever that arc ended. So some of these were a big surprise. Especially Zaraki's ban kai. Pretty badass in my opinion.
Considering every Bankai that appeared in Bleach cannon manga, this would be my rating: 17. Ikkaku Madarame - His Bankai is pure physical, unamastered because of his attitude, and finnaly broken in his fight against Fraccion Edrad Liones. 16. Rukia Kuchiki - Her Bankai is unamstered, recently achieved, and life threatening for it's user. Additionaly it has an area effect that might/could catch here allies along with enemies. 15. Kensei Mugurama - This Bankai offers very little to it's user. Kensei is just strong in close combat, but it has limmits in fight against less melee opponent. 14. Sajin Komamura - Mastered but with lots of concetration on physical aspect of battle. Not talking about Sajin being one-shotted by Aizen, more about the fact that his Bankai makes him only big and strong, nothing more than that. 13. Kaname Tosen - This captain has way more power in his abilities that he realises. If we disregard his idiocy in combat, i honestly think that is Bankai is very powerfull and he can subdue most of opponents if he just learn to approach the fight in a right way. 12. Renji Abarai - After learining his Bankai's real name and form, Renji's Bankai becomes far more powerfull. Only limits are it's physical aspect and Renji's careless approach in battle, but that should ware of in time. That is why he is so low on the list. 11. Soi Fon - Big destructive power, but very unmastered by it's owner. She has a long way ahead of her. Now, for the top ten: 10. Toshiro Hitsugaya - Still young and has a lot to learn about all the abilities he can use. But i am sure that given the time, he will most deffinetly climb up the list. 9. Rojuro Rose Otoribashi - Similar to Tosen, but i will give him a higher place considering he has a liitle more of captain's mind in his battle approach. 8. Ichigo Kurosaki - Refering to his limited false Tensa Zangetsu. It is very, very limited Bankai, that kid of just makes his Super Ichigo. The reason for it's place on this list is that it can grow more powerfull as Ichigo himself becomes more powerfull, plus it has a empowered Getsuga Tensho. 7. Byakuya Kuchiki - Very strong Bankai which can do very much, but it can't be any higher than this because it has no broken powers like people above him. 6. Gin Ichimaru - I still feel he has not uncovered his true Bankai, but with what we saw, Gin can literally one-shot-kill anyone. 5. Mayuri Kurotochi - It just keeps on imrpoving and it's power can be limitless. 4. Kanpachi Zaraki - For a Shinigami to be a strong captain without even a Shikai, having a Bankai must get him on top 4 position. His power is probably higher than anyone's but his Bankai is just achieved so he is going to take a lot of time to fully master it. 3. Shunsui Kyoraku - a Bankai you just have to die from. It's only bad side is that it can not be used in every sitation and endangers everyone including Shunsui. 2. Kisuke Uruhara - His Bankai can reconstruct anything. 1. Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto - it erases from existance....... Honourable mention to Bankai we heard of but never had time to fully understand : Retsu Unohana; Chojiro Sasakibe, Ichigo's true Bankai. Just like MrTommo2304 i will exclude Ichibe.
I think Soi-fon's Bankai is a really bad one, way worse than Renji's. It has pure destructive power but sacrifice every single stat of speed and accuracy. On top of that Soi-fon isn't physically strong enough to launch the missile properly.
@@caesar5588 you could be right. Her Bankai is usefull against big opponents, and it has to be used as a final strike, or she is out of fight. I could definitely switch Renji and Soi Fon.

I can't see Shunsui's bankai being better that Kenpachi's. 🤷🏾♂️
Stitching and Prosthetic looking arms? Senjumaru
Solid ranking as usual tho.👍
i think Kyoraku's bankai is a perfect evolution of his shikai, since that one was of making children's games and it's rules into a reality.
If you could assume Ichinose's Nijigasumi bankai form, what would you think it would/could do?
Also: Kyoraku's Bankai and Shikai are about the duality of his Personality: He's Childish on the surface, but Melancholy and brutal underneath
@@kierafurneaux3172 yeah your right. i was thinking about the two sword aspect instead of the solely the scope of shikai/bankai my bad.

His Bankai translates to "God Killing Spear" or something like that (God slaying spear?) So yeah that's pretty badass.
Gin is like the Itachi of bleach
I'd want to see his banaki after 50 or even 100 years.
even shunsui (who's now the head captain) said that Hitsugaya would've been stronger than him given 100 years or so, and now that we know about shunsui's bankai, thats either really good intuition on shunsui's part or his extreme humbleness coming out (which tbh I think it's just both)
He suffers from worf effect

I'd say their shikai are also pretty versatile. Kyoraku can fire mini tornados and do high amounts of damage to his opponent with normal strikes using the color game.
That’s a cool way of interpreting it.

He goes on about how he won't use it near allies because he would kill them by AoE, and yet:
1: The actually lethal part of the Bankai is done by hand. The white thread.
2: Nanao was within the range of his Reiatsu and was completely fine.
3: He knew Nanao was there, so likely chose a weaker, but more selective story.
4: If his Shikai has multiple games, his Bankai should too.

Or maybe he’s shikai was just so broken he never needed his bankai. Either way I always thought it was a cool idea.

Also I thought Komamura turned into a dog because he felt vengeance in his heart? I don’t think it had anything to do with his bankai so I don’t think that’s a drawback of it.
Great list!

Kenpachis unofficial bankai name: HELLBOY
So, Jigoku no shonen?

It doesn't really make his bankai OP. The reason it is a big deal is because Ichigo himself is so powerful.
Ichigo and Kenpachi's bankai are on the list based on raw power alone
So, I’m assuming that Ichigo’s ability is to break his fate, as many assumed when the chapter first came out
Yhwach ability came from a quincy ability to give soul. It not unique because haswalt has the same ability
Can you expand on what "Breaking his fate" means? I am genuinely super curious cause I have never heard this before and this sounds sick
I read this comment and disliked it. Then upon rereading it I've changed it to a like.
@@patrickbone5993
Basically people theorised that his bankai has the ability to shatter his fate, which probably means that he is no longer fully effected by stuff like the almighty
Op REALLY let s say does not want to put him high and especially above byakuya, the guy with such fandom he is immortal

I hate him so I'm happy with his 9 spot.
Mature hisagi has better feats than byakuya, kenny. He surely beats most of the captains.
Gerard solos gotei
Great list. I expected Aizen to be number 1 but then realized that he never actually used his bankai and it just made me realize how op Aizen was.
I think if you were considering the wielder as well in this list, putting Toushirou's bankai where you did definitely makes sense.

I know Sui-Feng doesn't appear here for obvious reasons but still, I have to say it's amusing to picture the fiercely dedicated assassin who uses a WMD waiting in line at Orihime's bakery for cakes because of Yoruichi's sweet tooth. The postwar novels are full of surprises.
Is that really in the books? XD
I want a book that tells the story of Aizen when he is still a kid which tells us why he became the way he is and how he eventually became a captain
Kubo has commented that aizens backstory isnt anything special and to go into it would actually make him look really lame and uninteresting therefore he never went into it cause he didnt want us to be bored with the coolest character.
Hes still young his range for growth is crazy high in the long run.
@@alexandernelson3703
i agree with what you said
but technically speaking, its stated that hitsugaya's sword is the strongest ice type zanpakuto, so i dont think rukia will be stronger than him, even after she master her bankai
Thats his true shikai, his true bankai is like mugetsu without the drawback but 10-100 times more powerful.
I agree

Lol. :)
Honestly the most i have ever been entertained with an anime ranking list ever. Instant sub
Can't wait for a reaction, review, and post discussion for every single episode of the final season!!!!
what could possibly be aizen's bankai?
here's my theory:
aizen only uses his shikai against Yhwach which bothers me. this makes me believe that aizen's bankai is a non-combat ability. like it doesn't inflict damage to the enemies. however, it gives him the insight of the unknown. he just knew that ichigo would be able to defeat yhwach that's why he knew of every single perfect situation he should attack. like future insight or ultimate cognition. if he uses his bankai, all the unknown variables reveal themselves before him. thus, enabling him to create a perfect plan.
this is also the reason why he was able to perfect his experiment with the hollow white. he somehow knew that masaki would appear out of the blue and get entangled with his experiment which will eventually create the ultimate being that is Ichigo. he somehow knew that urahara knew of a way to surpass the limits of shinigami and that is through hogyoku. he somehow knew that rukia is the perfect shinigami to go to karakura town which eventually led to her meeting ichigo. he knew that gin is gonna betray him. that's the reason why he procrastinated and pursued ichigo's friends instead of going straight into disintegrating the real karakura town. he's waiting for gin to strike him. and he knew that he would be resurrected by the hogyoku no matter what. just like how he resurrected back when he was cut in half by mugetsu.
however, this doesn't take away from his abilities as compared to others. aizen is already so broken even without releasing his shikai. i mean, the way he defeated the captains one by one in the fake karakura town arc. remember when he negated the effects of soi fon's shikai with just mere amount of reiatsu.
i'd like to think of this concept as the opposite of perfect hypnosis - the revelation of all truths.
Letting people come up with all kinds of theories of what Aizen-sama's Bankai is,is all part of his plan
@@アクセル-d4v a fellow ulquiorra fan
Why didn't he see the final getsuga coming ?
P.S. I love your videos, im one of your first batch subscribers (before 1k) and all I can say thanks for the content, its aways entertaining (1st time commenting on your video)
He explained this scenario with rukia. Strong bankai but can only be ranked on what we can see
Yeah, I see. I'm totally agree with both of you.
That's actually true hitsugaya at the end is still a kid he is young out of all shinigami he has the most room for growth he has big potential it's actually amazing he is this strong when he is so young but we can only imagine how strong he will get as he grows up but considering how strong he is as a kid and that kyoraku said hitsugaya will surpass him in 100 years we can definitely say he will grow even stronger than he is now
Toshiro's bankai is op af it negates abilities and freezes everything
Toshiro rukia are like yama and bazz man worlds apart
Kubo just hates toshiro so much he gotta be paired up with gerard, im sure he could beat gremmy

I honestly love rukia's powers in general and her bankai is so beautiful
That's literally what he implied...
I think another problem with shunsui is that while the ability is strong. I have reason to believe that its a one hit kill and afterwards you die.
But he followed through with act 4 and actually killed Lille, so doesn’t seem like shunsui would die after usage
@@mr.augustin1884 he didn't actually die thought that Is the thing he kinda came back to life.
@Paul Fimiano no
I feel like if Kira ever got Bankai, his sword wouldn’t change... it would simply increase the weight of EVERYONE in a certain circumstances so they had to assume the position!
Just like himself, that would only work to a point and yet piss off stronger opponents who would just one shot him instead of potentially risking a fight and leaving him alive lol.

saaaame
Thank you for being logical and just
@@ichigokurosaki9098 Oh my, Ichigo himself :O :D. Kubo did a poor job of showing the true abilities but it just cannot be denied, Tensa Zangetsu stands above all.
What about ichibei
@@babyaskin9881 fr why wasnt he on the list to begin with
I think Shunsui's bankai fits him.

I like parallel between the two captain commander’s Bankai. 4 directions and 4 acts.
I wonder if Kubo intended for that to be so.
I think Ichibei should be #1 since he named everything in the Seretei . He is basically God in shinigami form. He’s named every zanpakuto/Bandai, every Kido, everything. He’s granted everything in the Soul Society it’s power
At least that’s how I understood it, I may be wrong.
Ichigo, Aizen and Yhwach reiastu can overcome him flames. They are the only three who reiastu can take on a physical form

I've only read up to 366 or wherever that arc ended. So some of these were a big surprise. Especially Zaraki's ban kai. Pretty badass in my opinion.
Considering every Bankai that appeared in Bleach cannon manga, this would be my rating:
Now, for the top ten:
