In this updated for 2024 list, we're taking no prisoners! Like last time, if you're curious, some characters that almost made the list include Izuru and the Zero Division (the anime saved them)! Seriously, if they actually off-screened Robert's death, I will actually scream because the Sternritter need more character, not less. Also, I do not like Soi Fon, so I really hope the anime doesn't include her in the final Askin battle instead of Yuushirou.
I'm surprised Iba didn't get at least an honorable mention. We go through the entire series without ever getting to see him do anything. I would say you could even use him for your forgotten characters series except he has to be actually remembered at some point in order to be forgotten.
Worst treated characters for me will have to go with Soi Fon, Chad, Meninas & Liltotto. Now the reason why I added both Meninas & Liltotto is because they had less screen time in the manga. I was one of the people that really wanted to see more of Meninas and more of her abilities and also see her go toe toe toe with an opponent. And the same goes for Liltotto since she’s the strongest out of the Bambi group. And as for Chad, I feel as though he’s been largely ignored in this arc in the manga version. But hopefully in the anime he’s given more screen time even if he’s given an episode dedicated to him which that would make the fandom happy. Also I disagree with you on Kubo giving up on Chad. It’s not that he legit gave up on him. I think it’s because he’s been dealing with so many characters that he didn’t have time to work on and utilize. And the last but not least Soi Fon, I hate the fact that she’s gone out of the story after being shot down by Lille Barro. I really want to see her team up with Yoruichi against Askin. That to me would be awesome if that happened. So that’s pretty much it.

Izuru was disposed of so fast and side-handedly that he was forgotten even in the list of losers. Sad boy was merc'd on frame one of the invasion and afterwards was turned into zombie/cyborg thing.
Izuru probably isn't in the list because, despite his one-shot during the first invasion, he managed to get a win against a (pretty strong) Sternritter, if we count the mini-novel dedicate to him. Hope the anime is going to include that part, as neither him nor Shaz Domino were marked as dead by Kubo with his usual "dead arts".
The vizards not using their masks in battle even once, and them not being mentioned once when the solution to the bankai stealing turns out to be something very similar to hollowfication, is absolutely ridiculous. It does sounds like Kubo wants you to forget they, or at least the vizard aspect of them, exist.
Sometimes, it feels like Kubo resented how popular Hisagi became and would just have him Ls out of spite. That or it would feel like Kubo thought, "The fans think Hisagi is really strong, so lets have him lose to the villains so that the fans can see how strong they are."
@@animanco6833 disagree, he usually gives a reason for why shinji loses (cocky), chad was always sidelined and would take out fodder compared to what Ichigo would face (never understood it either). The visoreds aside from Shinji and Hachigen were hyped up to be powerful so that they could showcase the threat that was the Espada being so powerful that even they were struggling/failing to beat them. Hisagi came in out of nowhere, defeated a Hollow who claimed to be captain level (his statements were super accurate before, so I don't see why he would be wrong at the end), then traded blows with a perfected Hollowfied captain and was able to sneak past his defenses to kill said captain (granted his defenses weren't as great as before). After that, he was taken out by a spirit monster that forced Yamamoto to intervene in order to remove it from the battlefield. My honest guess is that Hisagi was at least closely inspired by someone Kubo either doesn't like or stopped liking at this point 😂
Yh i disagree there. That's how he made most of the vizards act as a excuse to explain their abilities which most other characters dont do. Ain't no logical way Mask was gonna win against 2 100+ yr experienced captain level shinigami with hollow masks. Kubo broke so much power scaling just from that one fight and making renji who just got the true name of his bankai literally out of pity by ichibei. Bro didnt even earn it himself💀💀@maxkogan3785
Given how quickly certain characters on this list lost or died during the arc it's funny that Kubo decided to let the duo of Ikkaku and Yumichika make it so far and fight so many powerful Quincy without using their full powers.
There is kinda no point in Ikkaku going Bankai though since it is already broken. So technically it's Yumichika not using full potential. Though despite that at least they can still keep Getting some parts in the war. You could say that them not treating a "specific fight" like that could be their "last fight thus they go all out with everything they got" is the very reason why they kept surving up until the very end
I know she technically survives, but Bambietta got screwed over so hard. Not to say her defeat wasn’t good, just anticlimactic for how prominent she was at the beginning. The same can be said about Cang Du and BG9.
Cand du did not even had one fight utilizing how he can fight with his schrift and most of his face fights is more of him just using Hyourinmaru. At least BG9 was able to use his robot stuff, Cang du can't even flex his Kung fU skills
Though to be honest I see more in Shinji's case is him having less time of fighting screentime. Since yes Bambi dropped him but there are lot of scenes that followed where Shinji is implied and in dialogue is doing something. Other Vizards went out there just to lose.
Harribel got betrayed and killed by aizen, then just when she finally gets some respect put on her name the freaking son of the soul king knocks on her door, absolutely decimates her and leaves her forgotten and trapped in a jail cell with no further use in the arc
honestly, its a good competition between him and Renji, on one side Renji had more screentime, thus more battles and by extension way more Ls than Hisagi, alternatively, Renji did got some Ws and has Bankai in canon, while Hisagi's win ratio, much like his Bankai, is non-existence outside of side-material basically, Renji lost-battle count is bigger than Hisagi, but Hisagi's Win-Defeat ration is worse then Renjis. Not counting filler its Renji's 2:8 while Hisagi is 1:5
To be fair, he was literally standing there doing nothing like an idiot while Yhwach killed him. I get it's because he knows he lost but he could've at least tried to dodge a few attacks and then he goes down standing. I mean if I were Old man Yama. I would've still tried to dodge.

@@Pengu386 my assumption with all that, is that they knowingly allowed him to weild the same caliber of power as the other royal guard members, but also had him stay the leader of the court guard, *specifically meant to be a failsafe* against potential threats manifesting at that level of the sereitei, specifically ywach's inevitable return and the likes of aizen coming into play. Reminder that even though he still ages, he had no active hindrance to release his bankai, at the very least not to the degree of the other royal guard members (as in they are physically not allowed to be all alive and also unleash their full powers. Only one may exist unfettered, at most.) (note, i also consider ichibei to be a completely separate situation to the other royal guard members; iirc, he predates everyone else in the series, including the soul king if I got that info right. He may very well have been the one to make the situation where there's always a Yamamoto in the sereitei... I kinda assume ichigo is meant to replace yama, honestly) In that sense, I think the intended narrative for the royal guard was always meant to be at the same or similar level as Yamamoto, as they would all have a similar effect on the world around them without any restraints. That all said.... Fuck if I know how that way of viewing things will pan out if they move forward with hell arc. Lmao, puts a couple holes in that theory, if Yamamoto, unohana, and some other crazy overpowered previous captains/enemies end up attacking the damn soul society, ngl.
Chojiro got another retroactive boost to his profile by the anime revision, given the information that he managed to get the drop on Yhwach in the Lichtreich War giving Yanamoto the opening to win back then and the implications that he was targeted first on purpose in recognition of that.
Probably including all the vizard as well as Robert and BG9 for not having revealed their Schrift. Maybe even 0 Division because of Manga but lets see If he will still include them. And what about Kon?
I feel Kubo focused too much on glazing characters like Mayuri and Kenpachi. As a result, characters like Toshiro, Chad, Grimmjow, and the Fullbringers, etc were treated poorly. I also feel like Kubo was scared to kill popular characters so it made the Sternritter overall seem like weak final villains.
I completely disagree, he highlighted the characters that had the most potential, all the others had a purpose, it would be impossible to give them all a lot of time, Sternriters were by far the strongest and most dangerous enemies, you saying that they seem weak It's a terrible take.

I understand kubo wants to tackle the different relationships with zanpakuto but I wished he could've given the same treatment to characters like yumichika or rangiku aswell. I can understand mayuri, bro carried the gotei hard but with kenpachi it feels he has it easier compared to other captains ngl. Like the first three sterns he killed was one who just turned into a gorilla, one who's whole power is yapping and one who takes on the powers of opponents(only understandable one cuz he always evolves). When it came to gremmy he didn't even win gremmy just glazed him to the point he killed himself. And with Gerrard nobody could've killed him so kubo had ywach do it. Kubo is babying kenpachi.
Isane didn’t make the list because she did LITERALLY NOTHING during this arc. I mean, aside from crying and watching Yachiru get beat up. Even losing a fight would’ve been something.
I absolutely agree with this message. It's insane how little Isane has been explored and employed. Tbh Kubo should just say fuck it and give her some new cool power so she has a chance to fight. Perhaps turn her into an arrancar or something. IDK man literally anything is fine with me. I only want to see her be put to good use for once.
Kubo fell victim to what Kishimoto also suffered from. Having too many characters and not enough time to give them the spotlight. I honestly don't know how Oda didn't fall to this as well with so many characters.
It’s pretty simple, it comes down to the scale of the setting. In Bleach and Naruto, the world is small with well defined boundaries. There are a limited number of locations for events to play out. Major events have to involve everyone because there’s nowhere else for them to be and nothing else for them to be doing. In One Piece, the world is massive and to this day still not fully explored. The main cast are always on the move rather than being stationed in one central location. Settings are designed to be moved on from, which allows curation of which ideas and characters return in the future and which remain where they are.
Three reasons. 1. The main is not really doing much beyond Luffy. People will lie and pretend that guys like Robin, Chopper, Brook, and Franky are still doing things because "Being a doctor is their job" (that's like saying that Unohana's liutenant was great in the TYBW arc because she healed some people, even though she wasn't much of a character here). 2. One Piece has over 1000 manga chapters and over 1000 anime episodes. 3. The series hasn't ended. Once the series ends and the hype dies down, people are going to look back and realize how some characters were mishandled. For example, guys like Shanks, Akainu, and Dragon are VERY important because of different reasons and haven't done much throughout the series on screen. Therefore, when is their time to shine, they need to deliver or they are going to be disappointed.
I don't know and I hate to say this but I feel chad is tied with the visords for biggest losers. He was put on the sideline to the point where he just ends up facing against no named golem like minions. If that is not the biggest insult I don't know what is.
Chad was already a known jobber for a while at this point. Him being sidelined to fight golem was indeed tragically terrible writing, but atleast we already knew that he wasn't doing anything. The vizards, on the other hand, were still "kind of hype" coming into the arc. They still had things to prove. But the only thing they proved was that they were all fodder to be one shot by sternritters. Massive L.
Kubo’s trashing of Hisagi really makes me wonder if either Kubo was frustrated by how popular Hisagi became with fans earlier in the series or if Hisagi was based on someone Kubo once liked and felt betrayed by. To be fair, Kubo made most of the Vice Captains look bad in this arc. Hisagi, Matsumoto and Kira get trashed, and while Isane shows off her healing skills, the only time she is attacked, we don’t see her fight and is quickly rescued by Kenpachi. Even Nanao’s great moment in battle is not actual talent and ability, it’s an inherited sword. Only favored VC characters like Rukia and Renji are shown in a good light. My guess is Kubo is miffed by how popular what was supposed to be minor supporting characters became compared to the characters he wanted to focus on besides Ichigo.
Kinda reminds me of vegeta in dbz. He was only meant to be a one off villian but then he got majorly popular and then Toriyama (rip to the goat) after that barely gave him any wins the entirety of the series. The only fights he actually won were against the ginyus which most of them were already beaten and pui pui in the buu arc. He got clapped otherwise besides embarrassing imperfect cell
Yes, absolutely. I felt like it was *particularly* frustrating with Hisagi, Matsumoto, Kira and Hinamori specifically - because these four Lieutenants were *the* side characters Lieutenants that showed the most promise early on in the manga, and they were definitely the ones I expected to shine a little more in the last arc.
I mean she still alive tho after all that abuse so she might show up in a hell arc with rest of the bambies bc all of them still alive well in zombie form for Bambi sadly.
Hisagi is a brave Shinigami for his actions after the war, be it stopping Zaraki and Hikone while both were in a frenzied bloodthirsty state, or even getting to the truth about the Spirit King and the heart of the Shinigami-Quincy conflict, something that put him at risk since it's well kept secret that warrants assassination. Ironically Soifon's reflects her status, like any Squad 2 member there and then gone.
Nah, Chojuro was definitely a winner from all of the expansion and posthumous content. The losers were the people who either weren't there or lost all agency, which includes a lot of major characters.
Tbf Shunsui didn’t take him down it was his vice captain. Shunsui was about to die if she didn’t come in with her out of nowhere bankai that perfectly counters and kills off Lille Barro
I don't expect that, "lol." He should have had more characters that are just a name and that's it, like some of the squad 11 guys. He just has too many characters that require development. He's built up their backstories, invested quirks and unique powers into them. Fans expect development with these types of characters, but Kubo kept dumping wave after wave of new characters. I think he should have just featured the Shinigami, the Quincies, and a few Arrancar, and developed them really well. The Fullbringers are a totally unnecessary group, for example.
@@TheKnellBelle if you are talking about just within the "TYBW" with the total chapters it had, It's not likely that all the sternritters will have enough time to be fleshed out even if you remove all full bringer parts within that arc. Like look at the Gotei 13 like they have been there since soul society and we still haven't got what IBA and Isane's Zanpakuto do. Also with the scope of how the Bleach story is structured "a large cast is definitely a necessary thing for it" Because pretty early on the story did jump to a amin arc that involve like a big organization then the story went on to do a more larger scale than that. Also yes the fans do expect something probably more but again this is where most shonen fans forget that is a part of any media. There are the so called "unique writing style that each authors" and often shonen forget that Mangala will write things differently from other mangakas, yes there are Authors that will introduce character wand will try his best to include all the character backstory within the story but there are also author's who will cut those out if that will not be necessary in moving the story forward. It's not also guaranteed that it will be for the good of the story if Kubo actually flesh out character's since if you had read Bleach thus far he writes stories in a way that don't really necessitate characters telling their backstories or that he don't structure the story so each fight the enemies will have some heavy handed backstory in the middle of it. And also another thing is the weekly reviews back then we're like kinda brain dead sometimes and they will like spam "disappointment" or scream "bad" whenever a Bleach chapter that is mostly dialogue actually drop. Since the dumb fans won't get their weekly dopamine shot if their choice of big 3 isn't the hypest or as hype as the other big 3 chapter that week. And like the few shonen RUclips back then are quite few back then and most of them reflects these hype mindedindset since all of them are also like just mere kids and teenagers back then.
Every time I think about Ukitake I weep. Of all the original captains he got the least by far, which is insane considering he is Rukia’a captain. In the Arrancar arc, he spends his time playing with Lillynette until he gets snipped by Wonderweiss the moment he steps in to fight Stark. And in the final arc…well Tommo summed it up perfectly. What a horrific portrayal of someone who was supposed to a powerful elder.
I mean when you know why he's sick and all that and he's barely holding together as it is then it makes sense thematically but yeah it sucks his bankai wasnt ever shown
ngl Soi Fon could've been really fun as a replacement for Grimmjow in the Askin fight as well I love Grimmjow as much as the next person but it'd have been really cool to see Soi Fon actually do the job of an assassin for once + Urahara having to rely on her and her having to set aside her contempt for the guy to help Yoruichi would've been a nice character moment for both
Momo! No one ever mentions how Momo spends the entire series getting betrayed, stabbed and ultimately just beat like a farm animal. She runs her squad since aizens betrayal and never gets a come up. I wanted to see her evolve and overcome her trauma to gain bankai and ultimately a captain promotion
I think the fact that she’s a functional person at all after everything is a win for her. If not outright deceased, she should be in a catatonic state in an asylum.
The thing for me about Chad that’s so sad is that he has such potential for new cool ass power up’s. He gets his powers and learns how to wield his weakest new powers in a few weeks. Then, HE LITERALLY HAS A EXISTENTIAL CRISIS BECAUSE HES TOO WEAK TO STAND WITH ICHIGO. Trains for like a month again and gets TWO upgrades to his right arm and a power up for his left arm and demolishes the tier of arancar under espada. He should literally be stronger than most of the vice captains at this point, which makes sense to me because I’ve always considered Chad the vice captain to Ichigo’s captain. He literally could get a full armor upgrade and be godlike. He’s literally the strongest human in the world excluding Inoue who’s there for broken ass powers (I haven’t read the manga Kubo did after TYBW so idk if that changes anything with humans). I love Chad and he’s my favorite character with the coolest story, he’s the best representation of non-Japanese POC characters in anime from that time. Dude is Okinawan and Mexican and that is fucking awesome. For Kubo to turn Chad into trash is just so unbelievably sad and Chad deserves to be at the same tier as Ranji. That would be such a cool growth after he did all that training with Renji’s Bankai. I just started rewatching bleach in the background at work and he’s so amazing until he beats that primera espada dude and I’m so sad for it. I really hope the hell arc does the Soul Society arc/Hueco Mundo arc thing and sends the whole squad there and gives new shinigami/ ugenics baby versions of Ichigos sisters to go protect their nephew also.
Yeah I hated how they just executed Chang Du and BG9 for failing, CD was like you said uninjured and they were like you failed you shall be executed, he could have said wait give me another chance I am unharmed I can still fight, but nah I wish that Momo did more, and Isane Honestly Love should have fought Pepe, the guy called Love vs The Love, have him go Bankai and pummel that disgusting Love goblin into the dirt
For real, Bambie's fate was terrible. She always felt like one of the last enemies to remain, especially her explosive power. I thought it would've been her vs a LOT of less relevant named characters. Which fits perfectly for her ability.
To be honest the vizards kind of lost the entire series. They had a good start when introduced, but after Shinji beat up Grimmjow(who had one arm and didnt even release hsi sword), they...didnt really amount to much and that saddens me. Im also lowkey hoping Hisagi gets his bankai animated in the last cour, I know ots unlikely but it would be so cool to see in use.
Shes one of the few who absolutely deserves the treatment she got from Kubo. She has not once put any significant effort since day 1 of bleach and as experienced as she is she wonders why shes still a lieutenant and the weakest one at that. Her own zanpakuto hates her and called her out for how trash she is as a lieutenant. She deserves all the punishment she got and deserves more
@@darknesswave100 I mean, he isn’t entirely wrong. Rangiku shirks her duties 90% of the time and uses her good looks and flirtiness to dodge accountability when she drops the ball. Toshiro usually ends up doing all her paperwork and she’d rather get drunk and goof off than do her actual job. She’s a fan favorite because of her design and flirtatious nature, but she’s a pretty meh character otherwise.

Definitely think ichigo needs to be on the list for the same reason you have captain hitsugaya. Ichigo gets his bankai destroyed early on, trains and has a nice entry but just continues to lose after that. Even with his new form and bankai it’s get destroyed once again. He never gets to really show off his fruits of his labor and we still don’t know what his bankai really does if anything at all
Ichigo actually pulls off results tho. Throughout the entire series, kubo just flexes toshiros prodigal status only to have him dropped in almost every relevant fight he's in.
Komamura should've lived to fight Gerard man. Immortal Giant vs Immortal Giant. His arc, as is, felt a bit internally broken? Because on one hand, 'he gave in to vengeance' and yet, when actually given the chance to book it to Yhwach, he turned around to help his people. I think there was more to run with there.
It truly pains me to see Bambietta, my second favorite character in Bleach, on this list, and at third place for that matter. Unfortunately, it's a fitting place. I'll never understand why Kubo decided to go this route with her character. She was popular and well liked amoungst the fandom, so I fail to see why this was considered a good writing decision. I love the TYBW, but her abuse at the hands of Giselle makes the arc much lesser for it. I'd have much preferred it if she just died at the hands of Komamura. If there was any, ANY one thing about Bleach I could change. It would be this. Not Aizen's Bankai, not the rushed ending. This.
Don't forget even in the CFYOW novels kubo is still humiliating hair and making her look like a joke yet all other bambis get a good ending even Giselle is made to look like a good and changed Guy but what I hate the most is the novels try to make Bambietta being under Giselle control look like a good thing it was sick and disgusting to read Bambietta deserved better
Kubo should've just kept her as the leader of the Bambis and made her one of the strongest regular sterns(Giselle would be submissive to her rather than the other way around). This means she would def murk Koma but you could always have him kill another stern before fighting her so he doesn't look like a total jobber. Then Bambi could go on to be a major villain for the rest of the invasion and afterwards as a powerful ally once Yhwach betrays them and all that.

Yamamoto nerfed Yhwach (only villain that matters) with the bankai sealing (volstanding) for the entirety of the arc. It’s Zaraki, who had to constantly be rescued that should be there, specifically, he ties with Hisagi: Had to be rescued by Yamamoto, had to be babysitted by Unohana, rescued again by Ichigo, couldn’t scare Nanao with reiatsu, rescued again by Mayuri, and finally adult Hitsugaya, he also never had a chance to meet the real Yhwach
I knew who would have the number one spot beforehand, but, god, they had so much potential. I think the fact that they didnt live up to said potential is probably one of the biggest signs of Kubo's decline in writing quality. And, like, in fairness, the guy was sick, on and off, throughout the TYBW, but, ooff
The reason why Shinji is handled this way is because... he is hard to write around. His ability is not a scale like Ichigo, Byakuya, or Kenpachi. His ability is more like a switch. Either it's on or off. Either it works or His opponent pulls a Kabuto(from Naruto) and figures out how to move their body. Soo...it reminds me of that quote from Bleach Abridged "That's ridiculously OP. I bet it never works on anyone important. " You need to think of it more like a writer. In fact, let me pose you a question: How does a fight between Shinji using his Shikai work against someone of even strength? His ability is a hax that's designed to take away an opponents ability to fight. So how does one make a fight, in which his zanpakuto is effective, interesting? And that is why he's taken out of the fight. Because, if his ability does work, it renders enemies unable to fight back. Meaning they look weak.
That's actually a good way to put it. His ability either works or it doesn't. It's not like say Senbonzakura that byakuya can use in a bunch of ways. It disorienting and that's it. He either uses it and embarrasses his opponent or they figure it out in 30 seconds like Aizen did. There's no in between
I agree with the list, but I'd put Nel on there too, tbh. Or at least squeeze her into the dishonorable mentions. What was even the point of giving her a way to permanently stay as an adult if if we're then not going to get to see her even involved in a fight?
I'm hoping that Robert will be in an expanded flashback sequence in the next cour. I'd be surprised if they kept it just between Hashwalth and Bazz B like in the manga and not highlight anyone else. Also, it'd be neat if they showed Soi Fon's shikai ability not working on Jerard Valkyrie. It'd serve to show how special his ability is.
They already showed it not working against Aizen when he gave her that speech about battles being between spiritual pressure more than anything. If it didn't work on yet another opponent she'd look worse
Kubo really wanted to focus the final fight with only Orihime and Ichigo together (really similar situation in the manga Dragon Quest Dai with Dai and Leona Hime) chad was probably and unfortunately abandonned since he didn’t know what to do with him
Ryuken is technically THE winner of this arc since he created the Still Silver arrow. It's sad we never got to see him more in the arc that finally could have some focus on him- as small as some words exchanged with his son, or even a moment of reflection. I love that the anime is mentioning them again and am really eager to see how it plays out. The one with the next most potential is Ukitake- and I am so glad he's getting new scenes, he absolutely deserves it.
I’m glad someone brought it up, I understand that not everyone can have screen time in such a serious arc, but to completely shaft lieutenants like Rangiku, Hisagi and, Izuru to the side when they could’ve been instrumental in support, rules felt odd to me. Especially with the weaker Quincies.
Tier Harribel, Bambietta, Yamamoto, Shinju, The Soul Kings Guards, Tite Kubo fumbled so much. The Light Novels just barely repair some of what was already lost (the Bambis very shifty character arc summaries), and yet so much is still left broken.
You gotta remember the physical/mental problems that Kubo was going through while he was writing the TYBW, I'm hoping that some of these will get a little bit more time and have his true vision of what he wanted for all of these characters
With so many characters, winners are those that get sufficient screen time. This is komamura who had a little mini arc and a fight - but it’s completely underserved because he is such a plain vanilla character. Would love to see some of the other sternritters get more action, or even the 2 arrancars, and youruichi.
Kubo had no fuckin idea what he wanted to do with her I bet so he just didn’t care and made rushed everything with her. He wanted to focus on the fan favorites like Byakuya and Mayuri…. Gives her a cool shikai, makes her a master of flash step and other hoho techniques like cloning herself, and wind Shunko just to never have them be fuckin useful. Honestly lame considering she could be seriously dangerous if he actually lets her powers work for once.
I don't know how you're shocked by how Hinamori survives getting flattened by Gerard. She tanks getting stabbed several times in the early arcs , including becoming a pincushion by several hypnotized captains.
Gotta say that this felt like one of Tommo's best scripts and line-readings that he's done; stuff like "try this on for size" and the sun has long set on Chad was good stuff. But I had a feeling the Vizards as a group would be one here cause they were just not put in positions to succeed by Kubo from the offset. Like how barely any kido is used in this arc, the Vizards not using their hollow powers is still a baffling choice no matter what justifications were made to excuse it. And I didn't think of Rangiku making the list, but Tommo detailed that case pretty thoroughly here. Randomly, this got me thinking: considering Yamamoto named Kyoruko has his successor for the top Gotei job, where would Chojiro be in Old Man Yama's will he outlived him? Again, random thought, but it did get me thinking a bit on it.
I would say that Komamura's tragic end reflects Kubo's untimely rejection as a mangaka against Shonen Jump. He wanted the audience and reader to know his pain and struggle in that sense.

But when I honestly heard you say, "I'm kind of cheating here because my #1 spot is a group of people vs 1 individual" I seriously thought for a minute that you were going to mention Squad 0. (But I definitely agree moreso with your actual answer of the Vizards) Especially considering if Squad 0 had been your vote, I feel it'd have to have been the original manga material VS what the TYBW anime has given us by comparison. Mostly knocking them off the list completely or towards the lower ends of the list.
I think Soifon is even worse. Because considering that Renchi became a bankai update it's very clear her bankai is likely incomplete too. There would have been a way to give her at least a short moment to shine with a upgraded bankai maybe supporting in the fight against Gerald even if she not gets a own fight
I always found it weird that Soi Fon struggled against the quincy when she admitted that her bankai goes against her principles as a stealth commander. Plus she has one of the most busted shikai in the series with the proper speed to make it nigh unbeatable. The sour grapes on top of it all is her ability to use shunko should have been more than enough to cover the bankai loss and net her some wins.
Also Chad got a better fate in the aftermath, becoming a world known hard hitting boxer. For his character being left by the wayside it's quite the badass turn around. Suffice to say with TV and information sharing becoming prevalent in Soul Society in the postwar era, he may be known there too in time.
There's a problem with that though. His grandfather who he idolized told him to never use his fists for himself. That they were for protecting others. What does he do after the arc is over? Becomes a boxer with an unfair advantage who uses his fists to win fights. Sounds like he's fighting for himself to me
Kubo should atleast lay rest to the characters after a last great hurrah because there's far too many characters for him to keep track of atp, manga as a medium is very limiting as the amount of pages is basically set by WSJ, Kubo should team up Narita again and write novels to continue on Bleach, I know that we'll be missing his incredible art but this will be the most efficient way for Kubo to continue the story
I don't think it's likely, but it'd be great if Ukitake gets sent to the Palace when Mimihagi maintains Reiou & he gets a fight against Yhwach. He'll lose, naturally, but it could let us see his Bankai. Chad definitely needs a moment in the anime. The Fullbringer arc wasn't the best moment for it (because of Tsukishima brainwashing everyone he could find), but there are some possibilities for the statue battle. Beyond simply showing the fight, make the statues strong (maybe give them the Schrifts of the fallen) & let Chad go all out. Give him a power-up (I hate the idea that Fullbring just stops growing after a point, but luckily Ginjo's in the area and he can transfer/alter Fullbring powers). Even bring the other characters in so Chad's part of a group battle where everybody ends up looking better
Bambietta should have been number one I can't think of anything worse than being killed and raped and your body is played with like a slave yet in death she is getting humiliated and even worse in the CFYOW novels Giselle is made to look like a good and changed Guy and Bambietta being a zombie slave under his control is a good thing it was sick to read Bambietta was not a good person but she didn't deserve a fate worse than death

It looks like Central 46 limited the Visords not to holoify if they returned to the Soul Society. Also Gerald was somewhere near 50 feet tall when the 4 Visords attacked. Granted each of them could take out a menos pretty quick but none of them were able to kill off a top 3 Espada. (Hachi did but cutting off his arm to do it. Although it was using the espadas power against him). Hopefully the anime will show the Visords mopping up the solidat along with Chad.
Man, the Vizards were such wasted potential in the arc. Something that could've been interesting was to not have Shinji, Rose and Kensei rejoin immediately; have either Yama or Central 46 block it as another symptom of Soul Society refusing to adapt. Soul Society pays for it by being horribly understrength in the initial invasion, so Kyoraku breaks with tradition again and offers to reinstate exiled shinigami during his visit to Ichigo's friends. The three join back up while the others stay behind to do the essence collection thingy. You can then use them in the second invasion and take over some of the fights off of the shinigami who already get to shine a lot and have them use their masks for another hint as to why the bankai stealing won't work on them; Mayuri already gets plenty of screen time so why not have Shinji and a bunch of regular shinigami fight Giselle and her zombies? Shinji ends up the last man standing, surrounded by shinigami and quincy zombies when BAM sick bankai reveal. Rose's illusions are so lifelike that his opponent are affected by them as if they were real, which sounds like it'd match up very interestingly with Gremmy. Kensei could have won his fight against Masque, giving Renji his win later when he shows up to support Ichigo. Idk, just...anything to give these characters at least a bit of a win in the arc. (on a completely unrelated note, I see those 40k codices in the background, excellent taste in factions you have there, AdMech is awesome)
31:00 I guess I'm about to roast Chad here, but sincerely speaking, kubo literally stopped doing anything amazing with Chad since *literally* (and I do mean literally) since the episode after he got his powers.... He gets the smallest upgrades that make krillin look like a golden God, sure, why not let's pretend that all counts.... But it hasn't made a significant enough impact to ever affect the story since that point in time. Ever. I'm reminded strongly that he, at best, exists to be a punching bag for other baddies to convey how strong they are; that's the O N L Y time his upgraded powers E V E R come into play: to convey the vast strength of the enemies that came next. I the above sense, I have to hard agree with your assessment here, since he doesn't get a real power upgrade at all this time around.... ALSO, legitimately speaking, you might as well slap kon the silly doll right next to Chad cuz they frankly get the same amount of attention and character development, man I feel bad for Chad. Lol. ... Yall sincerely tell me if kon or Chad gets more sideline treatment tho, at least Kon gets to host silly crayon side stories. Kon rly is the king of New York, compared to Chad. Also krillin is at least the most powerful human in his narrative, I don't believe the same can be said for Chad.
Kubo really gave Chad a super cool outfit for the War arc and relegated him to cleanup duty. I don't even mind if he and Ganju take care of the mobs to open the way for Ichigo and Orihime, but dang, Orihime was shown to have gotten strong enough to block Soul King Yhwach's black wave attack. Why can't Chad show off a cool new power? My hope for the anime (and this is copium incarnate because I love Chad) is that, while Yhwach is showing off his Almighty, with all the traps he's set on the floor around Ichigo, said floor turns into sand and starts to collapse, as Chad and Ganju erupt from the lower floors and join in the fight, giving Ichigo a hope boost that his friends can defy fate, only for Chad and Ganju to be defeated.
Definitely gotta add Grimmjow to that list of losers. All the hype for this character to return to the story, only for him to be paired against a worse matchup than Hitsygaya vs Bazz-B, get knocked out, look cool for a panel, get caught in a trap, and not even know his fate at the end of the series.

I'm surprised Iba didn't get at least an honorable mention. We go through the entire series without ever getting to see him do anything. I would say you could even use him for your forgotten characters series except he has to be actually remembered at some point in order to be forgotten.
Worst treated characters for me will have to go with Soi Fon, Chad, Meninas & Liltotto. Now the reason why I added both Meninas & Liltotto is because they had less screen time in the manga. I was one of the people that really wanted to see more of Meninas and more of her abilities and also see her go toe toe toe with an opponent. And the same goes for Liltotto since she’s the strongest out of the Bambi group. And as for Chad, I feel as though he’s been largely ignored in this arc in the manga version. But hopefully in the anime he’s given more screen time even if he’s given an episode dedicated to him which that would make the fandom happy. Also I disagree with you on Kubo giving up on Chad. It’s not that he legit gave up on him. I think it’s because he’s been dealing with so many characters that he didn’t have time to work on and utilize. And the last but not least Soi Fon, I hate the fact that she’s gone out of the story after being shot down by Lille Barro. I really want to see her team up with Yoruichi against Askin. That to me would be awesome if that happened. So that’s pretty much it.

The vizards not using their masks in battle even once, and them not being mentioned once when the solution to the bankai stealing turns out to be something very similar to hollowfication, is absolutely ridiculous. It does sounds like Kubo wants you to forget they, or at least the vizard aspect of them, exist.

The visoreds aside from Shinji and Hachigen were hyped up to be powerful so that they could showcase the threat that was the Espada being so powerful that even they were struggling/failing to beat them.
Hisagi came in out of nowhere, defeated a Hollow who claimed to be captain level (his statements were super accurate before, so I don't see why he would be wrong at the end), then traded blows with a perfected Hollowfied captain and was able to sneak past his defenses to kill said captain (granted his defenses weren't as great as before). After that, he was taken out by a spirit monster that forced Yamamoto to intervene in order to remove it from the battlefield. My honest guess is that Hisagi was at least closely inspired by someone Kubo either doesn't like or stopped liking at this point 😂

Given how quickly certain characters on this list lost or died during the arc it's funny that Kubo decided to let the duo of Ikkaku and Yumichika make it so far and fight so many powerful Quincy without using their full powers.

@@Pengu386 my assumption with all that, is that they knowingly allowed him to weild the same caliber of power as the other royal guard members, but also had him stay the leader of the court guard, *specifically meant to be a failsafe* against potential threats manifesting at that level of the sereitei, specifically ywach's inevitable return and the likes of aizen coming into play. Reminder that even though he still ages, he had no active hindrance to release his bankai, at the very least not to the degree of the other royal guard members (as in they are physically not allowed to be all alive and also unleash their full powers. Only one may exist unfettered, at most.)
(note, i also consider ichibei to be a completely separate situation to the other royal guard members; iirc, he predates everyone else in the series, including the soul king if I got that info right. He may very well have been the one to make the situation where there's always a Yamamoto in the sereitei... I kinda assume ichigo is meant to replace yama, honestly)
In that sense, I think the intended narrative for the royal guard was always meant to be at the same or similar level as Yamamoto, as they would all have a similar effect on the world around them without any restraints.
That all said.... Fuck if I know how that way of viewing things will pan out if they move forward with hell arc. Lmao, puts a couple holes in that theory, if Yamamoto, unohana, and some other crazy overpowered previous captains/enemies end up attacking the damn soul society, ngl.
Chojiro got another retroactive boost to his profile by the anime revision, given the information that he managed to get the drop on Yhwach in the Lichtreich War giving Yanamoto the opening to win back then and the implications that he was targeted first on purpose in recognition of that.

I feel Kubo focused too much on glazing characters like Mayuri and Kenpachi. As a result, characters like Toshiro, Chad, Grimmjow, and the Fullbringers, etc were treated poorly. I also feel like Kubo was scared to kill popular characters so it made the Sternritter overall seem like weak final villains.
Definitely feel this way. I kinda wish Mayuri beat Pernida still but died after. Too many captains survived overall

It’s pretty simple, it comes down to the scale of the setting. In Bleach and Naruto, the world is small with well defined boundaries. There are a limited number of locations for events to play out. Major events have to involve everyone because there’s nowhere else for them to be and nothing else for them to be doing.
In One Piece, the world is massive and to this day still not fully explored. The main cast are always on the move rather than being stationed in one central location. Settings are designed to be moved on from, which allows curation of which ideas and characters return in the future and which remain where they are.
Three reasons.
1. The main is not really doing much beyond Luffy. People will lie and pretend that guys like Robin, Chopper, Brook, and Franky are still doing things because "Being a doctor is their job" (that's like saying that Unohana's liutenant was great in the TYBW arc because she healed some people, even though she wasn't much of a character here).
2. One Piece has over 1000 manga chapters and over 1000 anime episodes.
3. The series hasn't ended. Once the series ends and the hype dies down, people are going to look back and realize how some characters were mishandled. For example, guys like Shanks, Akainu, and Dragon are VERY important because of different reasons and haven't done much throughout the series on screen. Therefore, when is their time to shine, they need to deliver or they are going to be disappointed.
Oda did fall into this with Wano and the Big Mom Pirates to an extent

I don't know and I hate to say this but I feel chad is tied with the visords for biggest losers. He was put on the sideline to the point where he just ends up facing against no named golem like minions. If that is not the biggest insult I don't know what is.
Chad had huge potential.
Chad was already a known jobber for a while at this point. Him being sidelined to fight golem was indeed tragically terrible writing, but atleast we already knew that he wasn't doing anything. The vizards, on the other hand, were still "kind of hype" coming into the arc. They still had things to prove. Kubo’s trashing of Hisagi really makes me wonder if either Kubo was frustrated by how popular Hisagi became with fans earlier in the series or if Hisagi was based on someone Kubo once liked and felt betrayed by.
To be fair, Kubo made most of the Vice Captains look bad in this arc. Hisagi, Matsumoto and Kira get trashed, and while Isane shows off her healing skills, the only time she is attacked, we don’t see her fight and is quickly rescued by Kenpachi. Even Nanao’s great moment in battle is not actual talent and ability, it’s an inherited sword.
Only favored VC characters like Rukia and Renji are shown in a good light. My guess is Kubo is miffed by how popular what was supposed to be minor supporting characters became compared to the characters he wanted to focus on besides Ichigo.
Kinda reminds me of vegeta in dbz. He was only meant to be a one off villian but then he got majorly popular and then Toriyama (rip to the goat) after that barely gave him any wins the entirety of the series. The only fights he actually won were against the ginyus which most of them were already beaten and pui pui in the buu arc. He got clapped otherwise besides embarrassing imperfect cell
Yes, absolutely. I felt like it was *particularly* frustrating with Hisagi, Matsumoto, Kira and Hinamori specifically - because these four Lieutenants were *the* side characters Lieutenants that showed the most promise early on in the manga, and they were definitely the ones I expected to shine a little more in the last arc.

Hisagi is a brave Shinigami for his actions after the war, be it stopping Zaraki and Hikone while both were in a frenzied bloodthirsty state, or even getting to the truth about the Spirit King and the heart of the Shinigami-Quincy conflict, something that put him at risk since it's well kept secret that warrants assassination. Ironically Soifon's reflects her status, like any Squad 2 member there and then gone.

I don't expect that, "lol." He should have had more characters that are just a name and that's it, like some of the squad 11 guys. He just has too many characters that require development. He's built up their backstories, invested quirks and unique powers into them. Fans expect development with these types of characters, but Kubo kept dumping wave after wave of new characters. I think he should have just featured the Shinigami, the Quincies, and a few Arrancar, and developed them really well. The Fullbringers are a totally unnecessary group, for example.

Because pretty early on the story did jump to a amin arc that involve like a big organization then the story went on to do a more larger scale than that.
Also yes the fans do expect something probably more but again this is where most shonen fans forget that is a part of any media. There are the so called "unique writing style that each authors" and often shonen forget that Mangala will write things differently from other mangakas, yes there are Authors that will introduce character wand will try his best to include all the character backstory within the story but there are also author's who will cut those out if that will not be necessary in moving the story forward.
It's not also guaranteed that it will be for the good of the story if Kubo actually flesh out character's since if you had read Bleach thus far he writes stories in a way that don't really necessitate characters telling their backstories or that he don't structure the story so each fight the enemies will have some heavy handed backstory in the middle of it.
And also another thing is the weekly reviews back then we're like kinda brain dead sometimes and they will like spam "disappointment" or scream "bad" whenever a Bleach chapter that is mostly dialogue actually drop.
Since the dumb fans won't get their weekly dopamine shot if their choice of big 3 isn't the hypest or as hype as the other big 3 chapter that week.
And like the few shonen RUclips back then are quite few back then and most of them reflects these hype mindedindset since all of them are also like just mere kids and teenagers back then.

Every time I think about Ukitake I weep. Of all the original captains he got the least by far, which is insane considering he is Rukia’a captain. In the Arrancar arc, he spends his time playing with Lillynette until he gets snipped by Wonderweiss the moment he steps in to fight Stark. And in the final arc…well Tommo summed it up perfectly. What a horrific portrayal of someone who was supposed to a powerful elder.

The thing for me about Chad that’s so sad is that he has such potential for new cool ass power up’s. He gets his powers and learns how to wield his weakest new powers in a few weeks. Then, HE LITERALLY HAS A EXISTENTIAL CRISIS BECAUSE HES TOO WEAK TO STAND WITH ICHIGO. Trains for like a month again and gets TWO upgrades to his right arm and a power up for his left arm and demolishes the tier of arancar under espada. He should literally be stronger than most of the vice captains at this point, which makes sense to me because I’ve always considered Chad the vice captain to Ichigo’s captain. He literally could get a full armor upgrade and be godlike. He’s literally the strongest human in the world excluding Inoue who’s there for broken ass powers (I haven’t read the manga Kubo did after TYBW so idk if that changes anything with humans). I love Chad and he’s my favorite character with the coolest story, he’s the best representation of non-Japanese POC characters in anime from that time. Dude is Okinawan and Mexican and that is fucking awesome. For Kubo to turn Chad into trash is just so unbelievably sad and Chad deserves to be at the same tier as Ranji. That would be such a cool growth after he did all that training with Renji’s Bankai. I just started rewatching bleach in the background at work and he’s so amazing until he beats that primera espada dude and I’m so sad for it. I really hope the hell arc does the Soul Society arc/Hueco Mundo arc thing and sends the whole squad there and gives new shinigami/ ugenics baby versions of Ichigos sisters to go protect their nephew also.

To be honest the vizards kind of lost the entire series. They had a good start when introduced, but after Shinji beat up Grimmjow(who had one arm and didnt even release hsi sword), they...didnt really amount to much and that saddens me.

Definitely think ichigo needs to be on the list for the same reason you have captain hitsugaya. Ichigo gets his bankai destroyed early on, trains and has a nice entry but just continues to lose after that. Even with his new form and bankai it’s get destroyed once again. He never gets to really show off his fruits of his labor and we still don’t know what his bankai really does if anything at all
Ichigo actually pulls off results tho. Throughout the entire series, kubo just flexes toshiros prodigal status only to have him dropped in almost every relevant fight he's in.
Komamura should've lived to fight Gerard man. Immortal Giant vs Immortal Giant. His arc, as is, felt a bit internally broken? Because on one hand, 'he gave in to vengeance' and yet, when actually given the chance to book it to Yhwach, he turned around to help his people. I think there was more to run with there.
It does suck that Kubo was rushed the way he was, but it's awful to see so many characters that were built up just flop like the ones on😢 this list

It truly pains me to see Bambietta, my second favorite character in Bleach, on this list, and at third place for that matter. Unfortunately, it's a fitting place.
I'll never understand why Kubo decided to go this route with her character. She was popular and well liked amoungst the fandom, so I fail to see why this was considered a good writing decision.
I love the TYBW, but her abuse at the hands of Giselle makes the arc much lesser for it. I'd have much preferred it if she just died at the hands of Komamura.
If there was any, ANY one thing about Bleach I could change. It would be this. Not Aizen's Bankai, not the rushed ending. This.
Don't forget even in the CFYOW novels kubo is still humiliating hair and making her look like a joke yet all other bambis get a good ending even Giselle is made to look like a good and changed Guy but what I hate the most is the novels try to make Bambietta being under Giselle control look like a good thing it was sick and disgusting to read Bambietta deserved better
Kubo should've just kept her as the leader of the Bambis and made her one of the strongest regular sterns(Giselle would be submissive to her rather than the other way around).
This means she would def murk Koma but you could always have him kill another stern before fighting her so he doesn't look like a total jobber. Then Bambi could go on to be a major villain for the rest of the invasion and afterwards as a powerful ally once Yhwach betrays them and all that.

Yamamoto nerfed Yhwach (only villain that matters) with the bankai sealing (volstanding) for the entirety of the arc. It’s Zaraki, who had to constantly be rescued that should be there, specifically, he ties with Hisagi:
Had to be rescued by Yamamoto, had to be babysitted by Unohana, rescued again by Ichigo, couldn’t scare Nanao with reiatsu, rescued again by Mayuri, and finally adult Hitsugaya, he also never had a chance to meet the real Yhwach
I knew who would have the number one spot beforehand, but, god, they had so much potential. I think the fact that they didnt live up to said potential is probably one of the biggest signs of Kubo's decline in writing quality. And, like, in fairness, the guy was sick, on and off, throughout the TYBW, but, ooff
The reason why Shinji is handled this way is because... he is hard to write around. His ability is not a scale like Ichigo, Byakuya, or Kenpachi. His ability is more like a switch. Either it's on or off. Either it works or His opponent pulls a Kabuto(from Naruto) and figures out how to move their body.
Soo...it reminds me of that quote from Bleach Abridged "That's ridiculously OP. I bet it never works on anyone important. " You need to think of it more like a writer.
In fact, let me pose you a question: How does a fight between Shinji using his Shikai work against someone of even strength? His ability is a hax that's designed to take away an opponents ability to fight. So how does one make a fight, in which his zanpakuto is effective, interesting?
And that is why he's taken out of the fight. Because, if his ability does work, it renders enemies unable to fight back. Meaning they look weak.
That's actually a good way to put it. His ability either works or it doesn't. It's not like say Senbonzakura that byakuya can use in a bunch of ways. It disorienting and that's it. He either uses it and embarrasses his opponent or they figure it out in 30 seconds like Aizen did. There's no in between

I'm hoping that Robert will be in an expanded flashback sequence in the next cour. I'd be surprised if they kept it just between Hashwalth and Bazz B like in the manga and not highlight anyone else.
Also, it'd be neat if they showed Soi Fon's shikai ability not working on Jerard Valkyrie. It'd serve to show how special his ability is.
They already showed it not working against Aizen when he gave her that speech about battles being between spiritual pressure more than anything. If it didn't work on yet another opponent she'd look worse
Kubo really wanted to focus the final fight with only Orihime and Ichigo together (really similar situation in the manga Dragon Quest Dai with Dai and Leona Hime) chad was probably and unfortunately abandonned since he didn’t know what to do with him
Ryuken is technically THE winner of this arc since he created the Still Silver arrow. It's sad we never got to see him more in the arc that finally could have some focus on him- as small as some words exchanged with his son, or even a moment of reflection. I love that the anime is mentioning them again and am really eager to see how it plays out. The one with the next most potential is Ukitake- and I am so glad he's getting new scenes, he absolutely deserves it.
I’m glad someone brought it up, I understand that not everyone can have screen time in such a serious arc, but to completely shaft lieutenants like Rangiku, Hisagi and, Izuru to the side when they could’ve been instrumental in support, rules felt odd to me. Especially with the weaker Quincies.
These three went from 100 to 0 very fast in this arc.
Tier Harribel, Bambietta, Yamamoto, Shinju, The Soul Kings Guards, Tite Kubo fumbled so much. The Light Novels just barely repair some of what was already lost (the Bambis very shifty character arc summaries), and yet so much is still left broken.
You gotta remember the physical/mental problems that Kubo was going through while he was writing the TYBW, I'm hoping that some of these will get a little bit more time and have his true vision of what he wanted for all of these characters
With so many characters, winners are those that get sufficient screen time. This is komamura who had a little mini arc and a fight - but it’s completely underserved because he is such a plain vanilla character. Would love to see some of the other sternritters get more action, or even the 2 arrancars, and youruichi.

Kubo had no fuckin idea what he wanted to do with her I bet so he just didn’t care and made rushed everything with her. He wanted to focus on the fan favorites like Byakuya and Mayuri…. Gives her a cool shikai, makes her a master of flash step and other hoho techniques like cloning herself, and wind Shunko just to never have them be fuckin useful. Honestly lame considering she could be seriously dangerous if he actually lets her powers work for once.
I don't know how you're shocked by how Hinamori survives getting flattened by Gerard. She tanks getting stabbed several times in the early arcs , including becoming a pincushion by several hypnotized captains.
Gotta say that this felt like one of Tommo's best scripts and line-readings that he's done; stuff like "try this on for size" and the sun has long set on Chad was good stuff. But I had a feeling the Vizards as a group would be one here cause they were just not put in positions to succeed by Kubo from the offset. Like how barely any kido is used in this arc, the Vizards not using their hollow powers is still a baffling choice no matter what justifications were made to excuse it.
And I didn't think of Rangiku making the list, but Tommo detailed that case pretty thoroughly here.
Randomly, this got me thinking: considering Yamamoto named Kyoruko has his successor for the top Gotei job, where would Chojiro be in Old Man Yama's will he outlived him? Again, random thought, but it did get me thinking a bit on it.

I would say that Komamura's tragic end reflects Kubo's untimely rejection as a mangaka against Shonen Jump.

Especially considering if Squad 0 had been your vote, I feel it'd have to have been the original manga material VS what the TYBW anime has given us by comparison. Mostly knocking them off the list completely or towards the lower ends of the list.
I think Soifon is even worse. Because considering that Renchi became a bankai update it's very clear her bankai is likely incomplete too. There would have been a way to give her at least a short moment to shine with a upgraded bankai maybe supporting in the fight against Gerald even if she not gets a own fight
I always found it weird that Soi Fon struggled against the quincy when she admitted that her bankai goes against her principles as a stealth commander. Plus she has one of the most busted shikai in the series with the proper speed to make it nigh unbeatable. The sour grapes on top of it all is her ability to use shunko should have been more than enough to cover the bankai loss and net her some wins.
The people with parts of the Soul King should have had a bigger part.

Also Chad got a better fate in the aftermath, becoming a world known hard hitting boxer. For his character being left by the wayside it's quite the badass turn around. Suffice to say with TV and information sharing becoming prevalent in Soul Society in the postwar era, he may be known there too in time.

There's a problem with that though. His grandfather who he idolized told him to never use his fists for himself. That they were for protecting others. What does he do after the arc is over? Becomes a boxer with an unfair advantage who uses his fists to win fights. Sounds like he's fighting for himself to me
Kubo should atleast lay rest to the characters after a last great hurrah because there's far too many characters for him to keep track of atp, manga as a medium is very limiting as the amount of pages is basically set by WSJ, Kubo should team up Narita again and write novels to continue on Bleach, I know that we'll be missing his incredible art but this will be the most efficient way for Kubo to continue the story

I don't think it's likely, but it'd be great if Ukitake gets sent to the Palace when Mimihagi maintains Reiou & he gets a fight against Yhwach. He'll lose, naturally, but it could let us see his Bankai.
Chad definitely needs a moment in the anime. The Fullbringer arc wasn't the best moment for it (because of Tsukishima brainwashing everyone he could find), but there are some possibilities for the statue battle. Beyond simply showing the fight, make the statues strong (maybe give them the Schrifts of the fallen) & let Chad go all out. Give him a power-up (I hate the idea that Fullbring just stops growing after a point, but luckily Ginjo's in the area and he can transfer/alter Fullbring powers). Even bring the other characters in so Chad's part of a group battle where everybody ends up looking better
Bambietta should have been number one I can't think of anything worse than being killed and raped and your body is played with like a slave yet in death she is getting humiliated and even worse in the CFYOW novels Giselle is made to look like a good and changed Guy and Bambietta being a zombie slave under his control is a good thing it was sick to read Bambietta was not a good person but she didn't deserve a fate worse than death

It looks like Central 46 limited the Visords not to holoify if they returned to the Soul Society. Also Gerald was somewhere near 50 feet tall when the 4 Visords
attacked. Granted each of them could take out a menos pretty quick but none of them were able to kill off a top 3 Espada. (Hachi did but cutting off his arm to do it. Although it was using the espadas power against him).
Hopefully the anime will show the Visords mopping up the solidat along with Chad.
Man, the Vizards were such wasted potential in the arc. Something that could've been interesting was to not have Shinji, Rose and Kensei rejoin immediately; have either Yama or Central 46 block it as another symptom of Soul Society refusing to adapt. Soul Society pays for it by being horribly understrength in the initial invasion, so Kyoraku breaks with tradition again and offers to reinstate exiled shinigami during his visit to Ichigo's friends. The three join back up while the others stay behind to do the essence collection thingy.
You can then use them in the second invasion and take over some of the fights off of the shinigami who already get to shine a lot and have them use their masks for another hint as to why the bankai stealing won't work on them; Mayuri already gets plenty of screen time so why not have Shinji and a bunch of regular shinigami fight Giselle and her zombies? Shinji ends up the last man standing, surrounded by shinigami and quincy zombies when BAM sick bankai reveal. Rose's illusions are so lifelike that his opponent are affected by them as if they were real, which sounds like it'd match up very interestingly with Gremmy. Kensei could have won his fight against Masque, giving Renji his win later when he shows up to support Ichigo. Idk, just...anything to give these characters at least a bit of a win in the arc.

31:00 I guess I'm about to roast Chad here, but sincerely speaking, kubo literally stopped doing anything amazing with Chad since *literally* (and I do mean literally) since the episode after he got his powers.... He gets the smallest upgrades that make krillin look like a golden God, sure, why not let's pretend that all counts.... But it hasn't made a significant enough impact to ever affect the story since that point in time. Ever. I'm reminded strongly that he, at best, exists to be a punching bag for other baddies to convey how strong they are; that's the O N L Y time his upgraded powers E V E R come into play: to convey the vast strength of the enemies that came next.
I the above sense, I have to hard agree with your assessment here, since he doesn't get a real power upgrade at all this time around.... ALSO, legitimately speaking, you might as well slap kon the silly doll right next to Chad cuz they frankly get the same amount of attention and character development, man I feel bad for Chad. Lol.
... Yall sincerely tell me if kon or Chad gets more sideline treatment tho, at least Kon gets to host silly crayon side stories. Kon rly is the king of New York, compared to Chad. Also krillin is at least the most powerful human in his narrative, I don't believe the same can be said for Chad.

Kubo really gave Chad a super cool outfit for the War arc and relegated him to cleanup duty.
I don't even mind if he and Ganju take care of the mobs to open the way for Ichigo and Orihime, but dang, Orihime was shown to have gotten strong enough to block Soul King Yhwach's black wave attack. Why can't Chad show off a cool new power?
My hope for the anime (and this is copium incarnate because I love Chad) is that, while Yhwach is showing off his Almighty, with all the traps he's set on the floor around Ichigo, said floor turns into sand and starts to collapse, as Chad and Ganju erupt from the lower floors and join in the fight, giving Ichigo a hope boost that his friends can defy fate, only for Chad and Ganju to be defeated.
Definitely gotta add Grimmjow to that list of losers. All the hype for this character to return to the story, only for him to be paired against a worse matchup than Hitsygaya vs Bazz-B, get knocked out, look cool for a panel, get caught in a trap, and not even know his fate at the end of the series.
