Hey! I just wanted to clarify my thought process behind the ranking a bit as I don't feel I was clear enough - my bad! But essentially, yes, it's the Captains of the Soul Society Arc, but they're ranked by what we KNOW they can do at this time, not what we see. Were that the logic used, we wouldn't be able to include anything about Gin or Unohana essentially, nor the Bankai of characters like Yama or Kyoraku. Conversely, we know that characters like Hitsugaya, Tousen, Zaraki, and Sajin gain incredible power-ups in later arc, but they explicitly DON'T have them during the SS Arc. That was my thinking on the matter - thanks to everyone for your lists so far!
Thanks, I feel like so many people are confused about Unohana's ranking. Even though SS doesn't display her power, she still has the ability to use it in battle if needed and that's what your ranking is based off I feel.
It’s crazy how strong Unohana is. I am positive she had not been actively fighting for several hundred years and yet she still beat a suppressed Kenpachi multiple times.
I mean she is the 1st Kenpachi for a reason but the moment Zaraki stopped limiting himself he easily killed her. But yea. In SS she’s one of the strongest.
@@vera2892 he is heavily suppressed, kind of the exact reason the fight happened in the first place and why Unohana called his suppression of himself her sin
@@jocoolshow seeing as its a theme that beings on lower power levels can't sense those on higher ones and aizen literally talks about that, id say it does lol
It's a knowledge based feat, not power based. Aizen has to make every detail of his illusions and her knowledge of bodies clearly surpasses his. That's why she only noticed something was off after examining the body, even if she wasn't quite sure what. Hence the theory that it was a gigai and genuine shock when she learns the body was an illusion and never real. If it were power based, she'd sense something off with every illusion and could use that to fight against KS. In which case Yamamoto would force her to step up like Shunsui did in the TYBW.
I like to think Mayuri's encounter with Uryuu was a massive wake-up call. He's only been out of the Maggot's Nest for 100+ years and more than likely hasn't had to go all out. Of course he had preparations like you said, and while there are powerful beings around him like Yamamoto & Aizen, he's never had an enemy going for the kill. So he gets blitzed by Uryuu and probably had a realization that he needs more preparations than a liquid escape & some poison.
Blitzed? Uryu literally had to use an attack that took away his quincy powers to barely "win" and even after that without nemu giving him the antidote mayuri would have killed him with thd poison while mayuri got away and lived. I always viewed that fight as a win for mayuri. Sure he shouldn't have gotten beaten up that bad but mayuri technically won. He lived and got away while his opponent used their. Most powerful technique and lost their power he also would have killed them. Mayuri beat Uryu. He should have been a lot stronger than ury sure but uryu had to use everything.
@@gloriousraven1512 I don't think you know what "blitz" means, blitzing your opponent doesn't mean victory, especially with Mayuri's unconventional ways of fighting. Another example is that Ulquiorra was blitzing Ichigo, then later on eventually lost. I actually agree that Mayuri came out on the better end there, but what i'm talking about isn't who won. I'm talking about Uryuu completely dominating Mayuri after activating his Letzt Stil. Mayuri had nothing on him, only a way to escape.
I also think a lot of people underestimate just how high Uryu scales in his Letz Stil. He was *significantly* above Mayuri in speed & raw power. I kind of agree this may have been a wake up call to plan to a ridiculous degree, but at that point in the story there was no possible way he could have a counter for being that outclassed.
@@Bossu I need an explanation for this. I have not been able to understand this since I started watching bleach years ago. How exactly did Byakuya lose to Ichigo when he is the one who walks away at the end of the fight and declared that ichigo won? I placed it as him giving up rather than him actually losing after Ichigo "survived" his bankai
Unohana was hinted as being really powerful a lot even before the timeskip. Several characters were terrified by her, some even retreated as soon as she showed up.
@@amzztvit means that there is one or more aspects in that fight where she would have the advantage over him. It's actually mind-blowing how powerful that is
I think I agree with just about all these placements except Gin. We don't have any reason to believe Gin got any significant powerups between Soul Society arc and Fake Karakura Town arc and I think his feats between his battle with Ichigo there and almost taking out Aizen after fuzing with the Hokyoku mean he's got to be in the top 5.
I think he's right that Gin and Byakuya feel very similar in terms of power level though. That's why I find it so hard to place Aizen anywhere because he's clearly carried by hax zanpakuto and the way the plot is written. Both Gin and Byakuya are far stronger than Ichigo in SS, Byakuya doesn't lose but he takes a beating because he's too arrogant and underestimates Ichigo until the end. Gin is clearly as strong but he has no feats bar toying with Hitsugaya and that one attack on Ichigo and Jidanbo. You might be right, he doesn't seem to have any serious power ups during the story but his taking on Aizen is reliant on knowing how to counter his zanpakuto's power, again hinting at how Aizen is only really strong because of Kyokasuigetsu.
Shikai Toshiro was able to damage Gin and draw blood from him/get the upper hand in him in the SS arc You can say Gin was holding back but as the Kenpachi fight showed, you have to be relative to someone in order to damage them, and Gin did open his eyes and try to off guard Toshiro with a hidden Shinso which he reacted to while off guard Considering Tosen got a major buff between SS and FKT even without his hollow powers, it would make sense for Gin to as well
@@jocoolshow I don't entirely agree. Gin was very clearly not trying against Toshiro, and the moment he did, he immeidately forced Toshiro back and nearly killed Momo. Needing to be realtive is a very large variation. In FKT, Tosen was able to cut Shinji, who was able to cut Aizen. So logically you could infer that Tosen is relative to Aizen. But this same Tosen hollowfies and uses resurrection to become much stronger, yet gets killed by Shuhei Hisagi, who stabbed him with an unreleased sword. So would that imply that Shuhei is realtive to Aizen? I don't think anyone is going to make that claim, and it probably had significantly more to do with Tosen dropping his guard than shuhei actually being that strong, but it does show that, under the right circumstances, you CAN hit above yoru weight class. So Gin doesn't necessarily have to be realtive to Toshiro just because Toshiro was able to draw blood in a fight using his Shikai while Gin was messing around and only got serious at the very end. Finally, we don't have any evidence of Gin getting any stronger between the arcs. Tosen achieved hollowfication, which obviously made him stronger, Aizen implanted the Hogokyu, making him stronger. Gin never shows any sign of training or battling, Aizen was aware that he was plotting against him, so he never would've strengthened Gin, and yet Ichigo, post HM arc, was barely pulling equal when Gin was, once again, barely trying, and Gin basically considered him a nuisance to Aizen at that point. We also know that he's a prodigy on the same level as Toshiro, with another hundred or so years of training. So it's not even that far out of place for Gin to be that level. I would definitely agree Gin is probably 5, ahead of Byakuya and below Yama, Kyoraku, Ukitake, and Unohana.
I think Tosen's Shikai doesn't get enough credit due to not getting enough spotlight. In the two times he uses it, he gives us two completely different techniques that are pretty much born from the same ability. That speaks to a lot of versatility that we didn't get to fully see.
So Ukitake is basically like Itachi. Very strong, limited by an illness which essentially nerfs the hell out of him. Kind of ironic considering they share the same JP voice actor.
@@hara9108 Because hes pretty much the best at everything all the time. I don't think his illness/blindness etc. had any impact on him basically being the best at ninjutus, genjutsu, and taijutsu (with exception to Gai in full gates mode on that last one). Pretty much Itachi doesn't have a fight where he really has to try, like at all. I think the only fights he doesn't win in the series are the couple he intentionally loses. Maybe he would be some theoretical level of even more OP without his health problems, but when he's already essentially the best, I fail to see how, from a practical standpoint, he could be considered to be nerfed.
@@DarkDealer666 well his pulmonary sickness should affect his stamina & while he was a prodigy with tons of hax his chakra reserves were fairly avg/meager so there's def a nerf there going on
Kamamura is my favorite in the group, even with his losses. He also tanked Aizens favorite kido and survived. Only a chair and Ichigo have managed that.
@@aaryansingh9164 it still was a 90th level kido from a person with reiatsu that exceeds basically everyone for that moment of time. Consider the fact that Aizens danku protected him from hado 88 from a captain level character. In the verse, such difference in level would mean that anyone who used kido 81 would be injured by that point but not Aizen. So such high level hado used by Aizen would not let anyone have a chance to be at least conscious after incantation. But not only Komamura survived, he also was able to stand. Komamura is not weak by any means. He is a perfect tank of the verse.
@@someonez6904 Everyone except Yamamoto. The only way Aizen had a chance in hell of escaping death was by busying Yamamoto. Had Yamamoto stayed, he literally would've ended Aizen. And if you don't think so, he would've in Fake Karakura but Wonderweiss was going to detonate with the power of Ryujin Jakka's attack. He had already learned how to detect the real Aizen and definitely would not have had a second thought.
It's not clever to allow someone to essentially become a god AND THEN ambush them lol. I always thought Gins plan was incredibly dumb and it was pretty contrived to say that when he attacked it was the one time Aizen had his guard down.
@@natediaz1863 He was lacking critical information to make his move. The secret to counter Kyoka Suigetsu was to get a hold of it's blade, this information was only revealed during Aizen's fight with Yamamoto. Before that Gin had no means to successfully land a hit on Aizen.
@@natediaz1863 It was shown and said Aizen became careless after fusing with the hogyoku, so it was likely that he never allowed Gin the chance before he fused. It was understandable he made a underestimation with the hogyoku, after all who could predict the hogyoku would heal him even after it’s removed from his body at-least from a in universe perspective.
@@natediaz1863 1. He didn't have info on him 2. Aizen never let his guard down. It was at that single moment he was able to strike him. Just think about how fast his blade would have to expand to even touch Aizen at that point. He did succeed in killing him and as Aizen already stated, sheer power can overwrite someone else's power, but he couldn't do that with Gins he had to straight up HAX out of it.
People tend to oversell Hitsugaya and undersell Ukitake. I think you placed them just right. I'd personally love to see a ranking of all known captains of the gotei 13, throw some Vizards into the mix. I also think it would be an interesting challenge to find a placement for someone like Yoruichi who's obviously a great fighter but has no revealed zanpakuto. It might also be fun to have to completely speculate on other captains like Ginrei.
@@onuohafamily It's the Bleach Special One Shot which for sure seems like it should be a whole new arc No (or New) Breaths from Hell. Kubo has been busy with the anime and Burn the Witch so who knows when either will continue.
The fact that the head captain had to go in hiding on the reigai arc to avoid having a clone of himself running around causing pure destruction speaks for itself. Imagine hiding from the enemy because you are simply too damn powerful 🤔

When it comes to Soi Fon's bankai...I never met anyone else that looked at it the same way as me so hopefully a few will understand my line of thought here. She's head of the stealth force sure and her shikai is perfect for assassinations, but I always saw her bankai as something similar to the B-2 STEALTH bomber. She can launch that thing from forever away and annihilate a landscape if she practiced enough and who would even know she was the one outside of those that know her bankai?
That is an interesting way to think about it. Personally I've always thought about it as the perfect one hit one kill. The target, the witnesses, the very landscape itself is erased in one use. The problem comes in when you realize there are characters capable of the same massive blasts with ease like Yamamoto or true shikai ichigo in tybw easily outclassing her jakuhoraikoben without even trying
@@genesis7838 lol right. It's the assassination of Lincoln or Kennedy vs the bombing of Hiroshima. Yeah but it's not much a problem because there's no council of unused zanpakuto sitting in limbo like "ok so ryujin jakka is going out this time guys the rest of us don't have to ever be born" in a sense. And the roles of each captain negate issues like this. Otherwise we know Yamamoto could've ended every single fight in this series within seconds if he felt like letting his subordinates sit back and relax.
@@__Emptiness__ just a matter of practice. Hitsugaya proved this. And if she found a way to shoot it from above? Less strain and easier path of escape. Idk it always seemed clear to me how her bankai was supposed to be used her ignorance of the living world's technology was why she hated how it "went against" her position.

I believe that one the signs of how powerful Unohana was is how little we got to see her fight. She definitely met opponents throughout the series, but they made a point to not fight her. Otherwise, I like these rankings, they seem very thoughtful. Thank you for not putting Ukitake super low, he was totally not weak.
I just think it’s funny to consider that she could have one shotted everyone in Hueco Mundo at that time besides maybe Ulqiorra if he was smart enough to go into ressurecion immediately lmao
@@DiamonDust yea but as a healer she's not supposed to be front lined because if the other captains get badly injured she's the only one that can heal them back from verge of death. Likely Yamamoto could one shot a lot of villains but only aizen and ywach made him use a lot of power because they were huge threats. As the commander he's technically not supposed to front line either unless it's last resort.
To be fair, if you ever met a healer who gladly stood there and did nothing to defend against you, not even readying her sword, you'll realise something is up as well.
Tomo, please understand that I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate you giving Unohana her DUE respect. I have a bias for healers, and the way she always commanded respect and dignity made me think she had to be powerful. Congratulations on your amazing growth since I started watching you back in early 2020!!!☺️💜😃
Great list! I like that you take into consideration what we find out later in the series versus just a self-contained list within the single arc. I would place Tosen higher due to the nature of his bankai. Tosen came up against the one person except maybe Yamamoto who would willingly allow himself to take damage just to get the opportunity to strike back. Tosen’s bankai is an equalizer that allows him to fight much stronger enemies generally speaking. Aizen wanted him on board specifically because how uniquely he countered Kyoka Suigetsu. Gin should go higher due to how incredibly dangerous his bankai is as well. A single strike on pretty much anybody except Mayuri will kill them. I would also place Unohana above Aizen until he merged with the hogyoku. Even knowing she’s affected by Kyoka Suigetsu and having Unohana isolated and cornered, he chose not to fight. You’re right in that this speaks more to his intelligence than anything else, but the fact that he chose not to risk it shows that he couldn’t be certain he would win decisively. I think Unohana would thrash him at that point. It would be interesting to deep-dive Ukitake and speculate what the upper echelon for him would be if we consider his unknown Bankai. An interesting idea I came across was that the “illness” could interact with his bankai as it seems it’s the reason he has the true dual zanpakuto. Shunsui’s came from Nanao’s heirloom zanpakuto, so it’s likely there’s an outside influence that explains Ukitake’s as well. That would imply his bankai to be absurdly powerful if it’s anything like how Ichigo’s “illness”/inner hollow makes him much stronger for it.
The thing with Gin is, in theory, anyone he fought other than Aizen with Hōgyoku he'd probably kill. NO ONE knew his true bankai and any wound he inflicted would have killed pretty much everyone but for potentially Unohana if she could outheal it. It's a fact that makes me want to place him much higher. Top 3 I think are spot on but I think there's an argument for Shunsui at 3.
if gin fought shunsui, they would kill each other probably. gin would catch shunsui with bankai then as shunsui starts disintegrating he will use bankai and take gin out
Hi Mr. Tommo! Ive said it before, but O'll say it again: I love your content! Bleach is one of those stories that i just love the lore and worldbuilding and often find myself daydreaming about it. Your videos are great to watch for fun, or to put on while I go to sleep to kinda help get the imagination going. Keep up all the hard work and much love and thanks to you!
Your list is on point! All the captains ranked above Kenpachi didn't really evolve ( except for Aizen and Byakuya ). We just got to see more of their abilities and how strong they were since the beginning.
@@davidgonzalez3066 yeah I personally feel that he did get weaker, although he claimed his Bankai had evolved. But this list is based on characters in the Soul Society arc and at this stage he had both arms.
How could Jushiro ever feasibly be anywhere near the bottom? 😂 One of only 2 captains to square up with Captain Yama without fear and can withstand his spiritual pressure. One of the Captains Yamamoto has the most respect for.
Unohana would 100% fight Yama without fear. Hell, she even did it prior to joining the gotei 13. Buy yeah, definitely an absolute unit even with his sickness
@@GodlyDra True, Coz Unohana Knows How powerful Yamaji is as co-founder of Gyotei 13, but Unohana will think it's a waste of time to fight him since she doesn't even need any training with Yamaji.
unohnana is 100% 3rd. she has the most years being at least 2,000. seeing that she is as old as yama, and First Generation. her experience is uparellaled. she can heal from basically anything and, is the best swordsman in all Soul Society. also being the number 1 healer doesn't hurt her chances. clearly puts her at 3rd on the list. Aizen gets 2nd, cuz he is him.
Just throwing it out there, aizen is pretty able to one tap all the captains in some way or another, except yammamoto and unohana. Like I don't think aizen is confident he can take unohana in a fashion that won't cause a fuss. She's so strong
MrTommo, your top 3 list makes sense, even the old Bleach databook agrees with it. Unohana, Aizen and Yamamoto are also the shinigami with the highest stats, in that specific order (lowest to highest). Keep in mind, this databook was made *long before* the reveal that Unohana was the first Kenpachi.
Hey Tommo, congratulations on 150K subscribers. Love the list, ranking list are always the most interesting. I agree with everything apart from Unohana being more powerful than Shunsui. The way I see it, TYBW Kenpachi got to the level where he could defeat Unohana, but according to your most powerful current captains, Shunsui edges out Kenpachi, the same Kenpachi who defeats Unohana. Other than that, I think the list is spot on. Especially Gin and Byakuya, great comparison between the two. Thanks for the video mate! Looking forward to the next one 👍🏻
Congrats on 150K!!! I instinctively went and looked through the list to find where you ranked Unohana to see whether you based it on how we, the readers, "perceived" their strengths during only the SS Arc without prior knowledge but it appears that you've taken everything into account, including backstories from TYBW. Without prior knowledge and taking in the Gotei 13 during SS Arc in a vacuum, Unohana would've probably been ranked around the lower 10 or maybe just outside the Top 5. But I agree that a bloodlusted Yachiru is easily on par with Aizen and our beloved Captain Commander. Great video as always!
Only trolls would do that. Even just in SS Arc there were signs that Unohana was a monster. It made no sense for Aizen to just leave when she showed up unless he couldn't just one shot her like he did with Hitsugaya or Komamura. And then the way 11th squad guys that were making a ruckus only to be scared speechless by her. Learning her true backstory was suprising but she was a killing machines was not.
Sadly hyorinmaru is very very powerful, but seeing him use his bankai so often just took the hype and mystery out of it(in soul society arc at least). I mean bankai was supposed to be the ultimate ace in hole for a shinigami, and seeing him use bankai at every occasion made it so boring. Atleast Mayuri's bankai changes and adapts according to enemy, so its still somewhat acceptable.
@@dominquebanton9758 true. I mean hyorinmaru and senbonzakura face the same issue. But byakuya's fights were made more interesting than toshiro...that kinda became his saving grace...and also his downfall. As they made byakuya go all out early and set a bar for the captains strength....while toshiro had the chance to grow up and get stronger.
I hope you realize every Shinigami with a combat focused Bankai always uses them in fights Ichigo, Renji, Byakuya, Toshiro, Komamura etc. It’s usually only the characters with either unorthodox Bankai or characters that have ‘Bankai level’ Shikai like Kyoraku or Yama that don’t pull out Bankai casually Ichigo uses Bankai so much that his Bankai basically became his base state as Shikai was almost nonexistent in the Arrancar and FKT arc
Wow, before watching your video I wrote down my list. It is uncanny that we both have the exact same order of Captains. I went back & forth between Unohana & Ainzen but ultimately settled on the order you have. 👏👏👏
I just always saw Mayuri as soul society Batman. You give that man prep time and he can probably beat damn near anyone in the verse, and thats what makes him truly terrifying.
Yeah, the only characters I can’t see him beating with prep time is kisuke (him but better), Aizen (basically the same as kisuke but replace the superiority of intelligence with raw power and equal intelligence), Yamamoto, Ichibei and the immortal Quincy’s plus Yhwach. So, a really not fair OP Batman.
@@JDM917 Absolutely not. Mayuri prepares to take on everyone and has a backup plan or 2, but Kisuke has backup plan after backup plan while also having slightly higher power.
The rough list I put together while pausing at the start of the video was: Komamura, Tosen, Soi Fon, Kurotsuchi, Kenpachi, Byakuya, Ukitake, Hitsugaya, Ichimaru, Unohana, Kyoraku, Aizen, and Yamamoto, but I didn't weigh experience and mindset as heavily in my list.
I'd love to see a list of of the Captains during the Soul Society Arc but ranked during all of the series of Bleach, like how strong they are at their strongest.
Congrats on reaching 150K, that's awesome. Honestly I think this list is pretty solid. I would probably swap Tousen and Hitsugaya myself, but that's largely it. I do think that Gin is awesome (I love the character and his power set, basically everything abut him), but also that people are overhyping him a bit. Honestly, I do not think his feat of almost killing Aizen is that impressive. He has a nasty one shot kill move that he is able to use via a sneak attack. Admittedly it's a sneak attack he's been setting up for years (holy shit. Like I said, I love Gin), but I don't think that shows a lot of power from him. Again, he is very strong, but also kind of has one to two strong tricks, so I think upper mid is a good place for him. Also initially I would have put Kenpachi higher on this list, but your arguments convinced me his 8th place was warranted.
my guy tf you're saying? gin was able to almost kill aizen when ichigo's father , unrahara and yorurchi could'nt even scratch a way weaker version of aizen . gin is the most underrated character . he's top 5 easily
@@siwaryow1464 Maybe. I just feel like he has a move that is capable of hurting Aizen (which yes is very impressive), but him almost killing Aizen by way of of a long con lasting years (maybe centuries?) is freaking awesome, just not an indicator of his combat prowess. Plus I kinda have to wonder why he could poison Aizen but Soi Fon could not. Personally I feel like that whole thing is inconsistent. Either way, all I'm saying is Gin pulled off a masterful sneak attack years or centuries in the making, but I view that as separate from ranking his combat abilities. Sure his poison move is very strong, but I'm not sure if that alone is enough to warrant him as top five. Again, I want to reiterate that I think Gin is awesome, and yes, very strong.
I am still not convinved yamamoto couldnt have killed the fully transformed aizen. I dont think it matters how strong your spiritual pressure has become, a blade that obliterates anything will kill you. Judging by the effect Zanka no Tachi, Higashi: Kyokujitsujin has on the world, literally causing draught and drying up the world justby being released fully, of course he couldnt use it in the real world.
Immortality is literally just that.. immortal, eternal, forever.. whatever u wna call it. Gin’s bankai is similar in the sense that it blew a hole in Aizen into nothingness, same what Yamamoto would do. But Aizen came back as if nothing happened. The moment Aizen became immortal is the moment Yamamoto has no chance whatsoever In Defeating him. Then u have the point that a fully transformed Aizen is an Aizen that transcends both hollow and shinigami. His power is above and beyond any shinigami at that point. Finally, if Aizen just wants to survive, I’m pretty sure even u can come up with numerous ways where Aizen survives by his kyouka suigetsu, playing mind games and tricks while keeping a safe distance, and wait for either Yamamoto burns everything including himself or runs out of fuel eventually. Power and destruction wise, Yamamoto is at the very top. Even at the hakuda arts he’s at the top, except for kenpachi tybw. Only yhwach, Aizen tybw, kenpachi tybw and ichigo tybw are above him in everything. Nah I’d still say he’s above them in hakuda at least, that old mf is strong 🤣
if isshin without shikai can damage cacoon aizen, then yama can definitely do so. (Yama can probably punch much harder than shunko yoruichi who cracked aizen's arm) yama bankai ~= monster form aizen > butterflzen > long hair aizen >= shikai yama > cacoon aizen > base yama > base aizen Shikai Yama would body cocoon aizen and struggle with Loreal shampoo model aizen but Yama bankai would force aizen to evolve at least past what gin was able to push out.
@@Mimi-vv9gz lmao the obly reason Yoruichi and isshin damaged Aizen was because he was holding back.Aizen catches the same shunko attack qith his bare hands , moreover it was a team attack that cracked his 'shell'. Also on what proof are you saying Yama~= Bitterfly Aizen? Butterfly Aizen is a being who transcends shinigami and hollow and is practically a God. He's literally a Soul King like being. By your logic Yama=Soul King. Gin damaged Aizen because the latter brought his power level down and it was a sneak attack.
I've been watching since you only had a few thousand subs, I'm glad to see you've grown so much. I look forward to your anime coverage once it returns next month!
Great list. The 3 senior capts definitely are top 5 and in right order. I think Kubo gave us many hints about this eg you always see these three take on Capt Commander in soul society arc and in the zanpaktou arc. Shunsui stated Hitsugaya wud need 100yrs to surpass him. Ukitaki easily stopped Byakuya from releasing his senbon. Unohana…let’s just say every capt didn’t dare to challenge her and they respected her
Congratulations on 150K. I think Yamamoto is a distant #1. But I think Aizen, Unohana, Shunsui and Ukitake would be closer to each other since Aizen doesn't have the hogyoku yet.
awesome list I thnk i agree with pretty much every entry, its really crazy how much people undervalue ukitake. Ukitake honestly gets disrespected too much I really hope he gets the chance to fully show his abiltity come hell arc though. The only disagreement I have with this is probably just swapping gin and byakuya just based on how well both did against bankai and half/full hollowified ichigo. Gin was seen as a prodigy and had very little trouble keeping up. Along with the secret bankai ability that damn near one shot aizen id put him a bit higher. SOLID list tho fr fr
What do you think of the list? I figured most of the captains don't change much at all between the Soul Society and Arrancar Arcs - a lot of the development comes later, so I factored that in here. Let me know your lists down in the comments, I'm anticipating some variation! Thanks again for 150,000 subs everyone!

Congrats on 150k. My list just for fun 1. Yamamoto 2. Unohana - Yes I think at this point she would have beat Aizen 3. Aizen 4. Kyoraku - I'm not sure that he wouldn't have been able to challenge Aizen at this point also. 5. GIn 6. Byakuya 7. Ukitake 8. Kenpachi 9. Tosen 10. Mayuri 11. Hitsugaya 12. Soi Fon 13. Komamura
This list is fairly similar to mine, but there are two main placements I disagree with: Tosen and Gin, both are underrated here in my opinion. You didn't talk about Tosen's Bankai in detail and I think it is overlooked. I honestly think that he can beat anyone up to 9th place in your list in SS arc with his Bankai. And while yes he is a younger captain, just like Aizen he managed to deceive the Gotei for over 100 years. You did talk about Gin's Bankai a little more but I still think its power is being undersold. If it weren't for the Hogyoku Gin would have killed Aizen in the Deicide Arc. Urahare, Yoruichi and Isshin did get defeated by Aizen (sure not at their full power but still) then Aizen evolved again, but Gin's Bankai absolutely destroyed him. Except for that a very solid list in my opinion (I think you can argue about switching Shunsui and Unohana's placement but it can go either way imo)
He overrates Kenpachi by a massive amount if we consider the version of him that fought Shikai Ichigo. Kenpachi started out as possibly the weakest captain, agreed that Gin was underrated not sure about Tosen though as this is before he got hollow abilities.
Alot of surprises in this list but when you talked about the captain's personal characteristics I couldn't really be mad. Great list alot of thought put into gj
Yep, Yama is head captain for a reason. The fact that he can’t be stopped without hacks or cheat codes is a testament to his strength. Yhwach and Aizen would’ve been toast without using tricks.
@@drken9093 There's not a big difference between the two, just like Aizen had precautions against people slightly weaker than him, so did Yhwach with Yamamoto
@@MashuSlyferiux Sending a double of yourself to die in your place so you can swoop in and steal the enemy’s Bankai counts as a trick. Yhwach would’ve died if he faced Yama on his own in the initial invasion.
Tosen’s bankai is pretty op, Zaraki is just a freak. 😭 it is the PERFECT 1v1 (or more if he can get more in it) tool. Too bad he only used it once, because of its bad performance that one time, he’s listed so low.
I love what Kubo did with Mayuri in the Soul Society Arc. He showed off how insane and arrogant he was by going into combat unprepared. It's also good to see he really isn't all that strong without all of his random inventions he uses all the time
If Aizen's zanpakutou can affect Juha Bach's Almighty, can Tosen's bankai do the same? Ignore reiatsu crushing and power differences. In theory, could it blind the Almighty?
Really depends on how Yhwach would see in those futures. If he saw the bankai from the outside at any point then no. He could also theoretically trace the moment in which his future sight comes to a sudden stop then alter the future just before it happens to stop it from happening. Like breaking Tosen's Zanpakuto before he could activate Bankai because he sees it'll threaten him. Similar to Ichigo and the tragic fate of his Tensa Zangetsu. In other words, it would only work if Yhwach wasn't already using Almighty before getting caught.
This is a good list. Kenpachi is very hard to place bc of how much suppression he puts on himself. I like how u bring up unohana saying nobody was stronger than her except my boy Kenny. Can't wait for the new arc to drop :)
It would have been so cool to see Unohana fight Aizen during the Soul Society arc, I think she could have potentially given him some trouble although she has the huge disadvantage of having already seen his Shikai. Keep in mind though that she is extremely durable and could probably take Aizen’s hits while healing herself and maybe even grab him like Yama did to get a clean hit in.
No Aizen outscale Unohana. Even if you think she'd 3rd, that's just a number. He is stronger in every stat. And Aizen is still more durable than her even in SS. He stopped bankai Ichigo full attack with 1 finger. Unohana is so overrated
@@Mystra no, you just underrate Unohana. She killed Kenpachi with one hit like hundreds of times as he was rapidly growing in power. I also didn’t say she would win, I said she could give Aizen trouble meaning I think she could injure Aizen.
Bleach is the type of series where it is really hard to rank these characters since abilities, while they are reiatsu based, can still help defeat or overwhelm a far stronger opponent. Like Aizen could with Yamamoto. In that regard I think Hitsugaya did put a decent performance against Ichimaru where I would honestly see him above Soifon or Sajin even without a complete bankai. Considering what the bankais for the two other captains are, even an incomplete Bankai that has a vast array of abilities is still potent. Everytime I hear Kumamura's name, I think of his famous quote "AIZEEEEEEEN!" before he gets slaughtered. But if we want to go by straight facts, Kubo layed a stats graph that can be seen in the Bleach wiki where Aizen and Yamamoto have the highest total stats and we know Aizen admitted that Yamamoto is superior. Gin is one with the lowest from my memory and if we look at FFK, he defeated a mentally weakened Ichigo who probably could defeat him without hollow powers if it were the same as in the SS arc. The problem with Ukitake is that his Shikai, as far as we know, can only reflect Kido like moves or Cero as well as only one at the time. He has the lowest physical strength of all captains according to that weird graph. His best traits suppose to be his intellect and kido/Reiatsu... we never see him use any kido spell however. He is always sick and we never see him being able to overwhelm an opponent. He got one shotted by Wonderweiss who to be fair can compete with Yamamoto and might be stronger than all the Espada. He struggled against an unnamed Sternritter and wasn't doing much against Yamamoto. When he fought that weird hollow that took Kaien's body, he almost lost because of his illness. We don't know how strong fusing with Kaien made the hollow but I can't imagine it being much of a problem. And he is slower apparently than Toshiro.
I think kaname could be a little higher. Just because he's part of the original we dim boys crew. And essentially one shoted all the visords. Another great video 📸 My bad I forgot to add my list here we go. 1) Yamamoto. the head captain 2) Aizan. you know why it's Aizan. 3) Unahona. Sword demon 👿 4) Shunsui. Old guard and strong in all areas. 5) Ukatake. Old guard. 6) Kenpachi. He's the Kenpachi 7) Gin. part of the original we dim boys crew. Was smacking lutinets as a kid. 8) Byukua. Well rounded strong in all areas. 9) Kaname. Part of the original we dim boys crew. Was capable of one shoting multiple captain and leutinit level fighters. 10) Mayuri. Wanted to put him higher My favorite character has a stupid dumb bag, but wasn't portrayed to be to strong this arc definitely higher in all the later arcs. 11) Komamura. Exceptional power and durability, average in other areas. 12) Soi Fon. Exceptional speed and attack pointency, average in other areas. 13) Toshiro. Inexperience is the only reason I have him so low.
@@culleno872 Nah I'd put Gin over Kenny at this point too. We know he got stronger by Arrancar arc, we don't have any reason to think Gin is any stronger then, than he was now.
I actually 100% agree with the order of this list. Of course multiple characters evolve and are expanded on as the series progresses, but for this arc, I would have to say you got it completely right.
Here is my list: 1. Yamamoto (Aizen had to make Wonderweise to be able to beat him) 2. Aizen (total package, no weakness, just not at the level of Yamamoto) 3. Unohana (might even be above Aizen, it's close) 4. Shunsui (ridiculously powerful, but not in the top 3) 5. Gin (Hardest to rank, could beat anyone on this list in the right situation) 6. Ukitake (his illness drops him some, otherwise very strong) 7. Byakuya (solid all around) 8. Mayuri (so many strengths and few weaknesses) 9. Soi Fon (strong, but this list is overpowered) 10. Kenpachi (toughness and combat experience is all he has at this point) 11. Tousen (would have killed Kenpachi easily but wanted to punish him first, which gave him time to counter) 12. Hitsugaya (inexperience holds him back) 13. Komamura (completely one dimensional, but that dimension is pretty strong, just too many weaknesses to exploit)
Great work as always! I know it'd be a massive undertaking, but maybe you could do a video like this but with every captain that's been a part of the Gotei?
Honestly my only real complaint here is I think Gin has to be higher up, like he's not middle of the road. Just given what he did to transcendent Aizen and the statements that he was the single most prodigal student to ever come out of the Shinigami school (other than maybe Aizen) should put him probably 4th just below Unohana, and above Ukitake and Kyouraku given they went through the school too.
@@arielbrown5225 with that logic Unohana should be like bottom 2. Aizen should also be far lower. Tonmo said he will use future information so long as the captain could use that power at the time of the soul society arc.
True, but Gin died young. If he was Kyoraku/ukitake's age he'd probably be higher but Gin is ~200 years old whereas Kyoraku/ukitake had been captains for at least 200
@@Mimi-vv9gz I mean look at what he did to Aizen... he scared the shit out of transcendent aizen. If anything I could/should argue thatd put him above Unohana, since even base Aizen didnt fear her. But safely he's atleast above Kyouraku and Ukitake since we saw base Aizen one shot them and basically the rest of the gotei and vizards. But we never saw Aizen fight Unohana.
Gin is far stronger than Byakuya during Soul Society. But much like Aizen, he hid his true power all along. He was portrayed similar to Byakuya during said arc because the Soul Society was meant to believe he was around that level of strength, just like they weren’t meant to believe that Aizen was so much stronger than every other captain save for Yamamoto. Aizen referred to Gin as his true right hand for a reason. Much like Aizen, Gin was not only insanely strong amongst even the captains, but highly deceptive as well. He’s at bare minimum #6 on this list, and that’s a lowball. Given that even Aizen underestimated his true strength and threat level, it wouldn’t even be farfetched to put him in the #3 or 4 spot.
I personally think Gin is more powerful than Byakuya. Gin's sword is really fast and can absolutely match Byakuya shumpo. Gin can literally destroy Byakuya even with a tiny scratch from his sword.
@@caiolopes7736 that Hollow Ichigo that fought against Byakuya is much stronger than the version of Ichigo who fought against Gin the hollow Ichigo that fought against Byakuya is an evolved version of the Shiro that fought against Isshin in everything but the rain but with Bankai now it might be weaker than the hollow Ichigo who fought against Ulquiorra because that's a superior version plus Bankai but Masked Bankai Ichigo isn't equal to Shiro plus Bankai

@MrTommo2304 Tousen at 13 ?!.. he foderized 5 vizards in turn back the pendulum.. Hmm even if the list is based only up to episode 63, Toshiro and Komamura should be lower than Tousen.. his bankai seems alot more troublesome than Komamura and Toshiro's .
I think Tousen is heavily underestimated since his Bankai was basically countered by Zaraki’s battle philosophy and defensive attributes. If he fought a character with only few or none AoE abilities and also low/regular resistance/defensive skills, he easily has a shot on taking out characters like Soi fon or hitsugaya, while Sajin’s Tenges Myō would probably destroy Tausend Bankai due to its size and characters like Byakuya or Mayuri have too much AoE for Tousen just approaching them to kill them off. That‘s why I could also see Tousen be on second last or even 11th place of this ranking. Yet last place is also fine, considering Tousen personality.
@@Ronpesos12 toshiro is a scrub who almost never defeats his opponent and has arguably one of the weakest bankai until the later arcs 😂. The credit I will give due is he does have ice armor and aoe so yes he could beat tousen, but not because he’s strong, just that he is better equipped than most. It’s only because he’s so weak early on I didn’t add him to the counter list. I’m pretty sure just about everyone else would kick his teeth in though.
Its true. People heavily underestimate just how op Tosens Bankai is (its kinda similar to Kyoka Suigetsu in a way lol). Lets face it, not everyone will have the balls to take a hit like Zaraki just to find out where Tosen is, Zaraki's just built different lol Tosens Bankai would normally be a confusing and scary experience for the average foe
Would be cool to know what the "dream team" of the Gotei 13 is. Take all the Captains that ever were a Captain at their strongest and making a hypothetical new Gotei 13. I think alot of the lower Captains would be kick off from every era by a mid range or high captain from another era.
It's very unfortunate that the best piece of evidence for Ukitake's capability is that he, along with Kyoraku, was able to hold off Yamamoto during such an early part of the series. Hopefully we can get a real fight for him in the new anime. I always thought it was a shame that we never got to see a proper fight or bankai reveal for him.
Nice video as usual! also, great analysis. Im one of the ones who thinks Aizen beats Yamamoto (just didn't wan't to have that fight unnecesarily) but the 2 things in which I think really different, are the placements of Gin and Mayuri. Gin just toys with everyone and his only interest is to kill Aizen. Hollow mask Ichigo he toys with. His position wouldnt' change much, but I think there is a gap between Byakuya at that point, and him. He is a damn prodigy and wouldn't surprise me if he had surpassed Ukitake or even Shunsui. He literally doesn't care about them at all. About Mayuri, I don't think he had so much of a power up but just re estructured his bankai and his resources in general. The only reason to rank him low is his defeat with Ishida (which myself did at that time when everyone thought quincys were trash), but probably it's because Ishida unlocked some really hard sternritter level for that short time. Mayuri beats that terrible hand... and if he didn't change much, he would also be at least at Gin level. So for me is in some order: Aizen Yamamoto... big gap... Unohana, Kyoraku, Ukitake, Gin, Mayuri... big gap... Byakuya, Kenpachi... big gap... Soi Fong, Komamura, Tosen, Hitsugaya.
Byakuya is just as talented as Gin they become captains at the same time and Byakuya has a noble heritage that gives him higher spiritual pressure than average captains at his age.
I'm biased as I love Gin as a character (he's not a good guy for the millionth time) but I think his strength is always underrated. Gin has no hollowification or shown training/improvement to the Fake Karakura Town Arc and basically toys with a full power Hollow Mask Ichigo. They were kind of interchangeable, but I'd put him above Byakuya at this point.
He bodied hollow mask bankai ichigo at his peak and told him to run away, meanwhile byak p much lost to a fresh and weaker bankai ichi. Why would anybody think byak is above gin is beyond me
By the way @mrtommo2304 I’m regards to future content I’d be nice to see some more hypothetical battles. For example What if Byakuya and Kenpachi actually fought during the beginning of the soul society arc. Or what if Yama continued his fight with Shunsui and Jushiro. Love your content btw!
Byakuya would have stomped him and it's not even a question people forget that it was actually Shiro who beat the living fuck out of Byakuya and secured that tie for Ichigo and in the manga the battle plays out quite differently than in the anime since Byakuya actually grabs Ichigo's blade with his hand the second time Ichigo gets close to him and Bankai Shiro wasn't blitzing Byakuya either so Byakuya really was underestimating Ichigo during that fight until he started to use Senkei since if he couldn't keep up with the mere speed of Ichigo then Shiro would have torn Byakuya's head clean of in the first hit but that wasn't the case he was slower than Bankai Shiro but not to the point where he was a statue so Kenpachi was literally not even a threat and even a TYBW Zaraki VS TYBW Byakuya is also a losing battle to Zaraki since he's practically Deku and will get weaker and weaker as the fight progresses and he's fighting a version of Byakuya who is still much faster than him
I feel Gin has to be one of the top ranking. He was holding back against everyone, even against late soap society Ichigo. Not to mention, the captains that you placed above Gin, can any of them deal such damage to Aizen as he did? If not for plot armor, he would killed Aizen.
Great video. I think your listing is spot on. I would have overrated Mayori a little higher as well as Hitsugaya and underrated Ukitake and Soi Fon, but I think your points make better sense in their placements.
I think a list like this will be vastly different person to person. There’s too many variables and unknowns to properly rank some of these characters but it’s so fun! My list 1. Genryusai Yamamoto 2. Sosuke Aizen 3. Shunsui Kyoraku 4. Kenpachi Zaraki 5. Mayuri Kurotsuchi 6. Retsu Unohana (Yachiru) 7. Byakuya Kuchiki 8. Gin Ichimaru 9. Kaname Tosen (lots of bias) 10. Sui-Feng 11. Sajin Komamura (some bias) 12. Jushiro Ukitake 13. Toshiro Hitsugaya
@@rouged3392 Plot armor and Mayuri’s science shenanigans drove that decision lol I think if those two fought canonically Kubo wouldn’t let Mayuri take the loss.
Aizen only stated Yamamoto and kenpachi would pose the biggest threats to his Olán,and he defeated the stronger of the two which is yama by outsmarting him, pretty sure he would’ve clapped unohana no questions asked.
Makes no sense for Aizen fearing Kenny , Yhwach destoyed him , Unohana killed him multiple times , Aizen could've done the same. SAFWY and CFYOW is basically Kenpachi wankfest
Aizen never gave a fuck about Kenpachi if he had any hope Kenpachi would do shit about him he would have prepared a scenario where he could have fought Kenpachi just like he did to Ichigo
By the end, Mayuri is definitely in top 5 strongest captains.

I'd have placed Shunshui above Unohana. Other than that, perfect list.
@@Navin4061 nah Unohanas stronger than Shunsui. Stated in one of the databooks

I could see something like that happening with the Hell arc. But then again, TYBW could have done that too.
My thoughts exactly, looking back that was probably the moment he began to prepare for every single situation he could think of...
Unohana was hinted as being really powerful a lot even before the timeskip. Several characters were terrified by her, some even retreated as soon as she showed up.
According to the official Databook Yamamoto and Aizen were scored 560/600 and Unohana at 540/600
@@kaustavborah4621 That sounds correct. Unohana is very slightly under the heavy hitters.
The fact that Aizen choose to bounce instead of fighting Unohana is already big evidence on how much of a threat she is.
That arrancar dispatch team or whatever they were straight up just left when they saw Unohana
@@amzztvit means that there is one or more aspects in that fight where she would have the advantage over him. It's actually mind-blowing how powerful that is
I think I agree with just about all these placements except Gin. We don't have any reason to believe Gin got any significant powerups between Soul Society arc and Fake Karakura Town arc and I think his feats between his battle with Ichigo there and almost taking out Aizen after fuzing with the Hokyoku mean he's got to be in the top 5.
exactly he could've folded ichigo had he used his full bankai abilities
Gin is one of the strongest captains. Extremely underestimated and misunderstood.
Shikai Toshiro was able to damage Gin and draw blood from him/get the upper hand in him in the SS arc
You can say Gin was holding back but as the Kenpachi fight showed, you have to be relative to someone in order to damage them, and Gin did open his eyes and try to off guard Toshiro with a hidden Shinso which he reacted to while off guard
Considering Tosen got a major buff between SS and FKT even without his hollow powers, it would make sense for Gin to as well
@@jocoolshow I don't entirely agree.

1. He didn't have info on him
Yeah, but even a single shot is a huge burden for her.
@@__Emptiness__ just a matter of practice. Hitsugaya proved this. And if she found a way to shoot it from above? Less strain and easier path of escape.
I picked this up during SS arc when aizen and gin would rather have turned around and find a new way besides actually engaging in battle altogether.
If think she is underrated and overrated at the same time
To be fair, if you ever met a healer who gladly stood there and did nothing to defend against you, not even readying her sword, you'll realise something is up as well.
Top 3 I think are spot on but I think there's an argument for Shunsui at 3.
if gin fought shunsui, they would kill each other probably. gin would catch shunsui with bankai then as shunsui starts disintegrating he will use bankai and take gin out
@@Mimi-vv9gz I'm on board with this. I could see that playing out for sure.
Definitely think Gin is top 4 and absolutely an even match for Shunsui.

Your list is on point! All the captains ranked above Kenpachi didn't really evolve ( except for Aizen and Byakuya ). We just got to see more of their abilities and how strong they were since the beginning.
Yama may have gotten weaker, remember he lost an arm against aizen and he never fixed it, ywach calls him out on this.
@@davidgonzalez3066 yeah I personally feel that he did get weaker, although he claimed his Bankai had evolved. But this list is based on characters in the Soul Society arc and at this stage he had both arms.

unohnana is 100% 3rd. she has the most years being at least 2,000. seeing that she is as old as yama, and First Generation. her experience is uparellaled. she can heal from basically anything and, is the best swordsman in all Soul Society. also being the number 1 healer doesn't hurt her chances. clearly puts her at 3rd on the list. Aizen gets 2nd, cuz he is him.
Just throwing it out there, aizen is pretty able to one tap all the captains in some way or another, except yammamoto and unohana. Like I don't think aizen is confident he can take unohana in a fashion that won't cause a fuss. She's so strong
In regards to Soi-Fon, if it were pure hand to hand, you could easily argue a top 5 spot. Great list btw.
Yes. And Yamamoto would still be number 1. The way Kubo overpowered Yamamoto is insane LOL
Whenever you talk about Aizen it always hypes me up so much
Congrats on 150K!!!
Its all becuz he was so young and inexperienced, his shikai couldn't cut it so he had to rely on his bankai to pickup the slack
@@apoorvjoshi2383 when byakuya was toshiro's age he didnt even have a bankai so its doesnt make sense to compare the two
I hope you realize every Shinigami with a combat focused Bankai always uses them in fights
Ichigo, Renji, Byakuya, Toshiro, Komamura etc. It’s usually only the characters with either unorthodox Bankai or characters that have ‘Bankai level’ Shikai like Kyoraku or Yama that don’t pull out Bankai casually
Ichigo uses Bankai so much that his Bankai basically became his base state as Shikai was almost nonexistent in the Arrancar and FKT arc
Man he really spammed his bankai like a Naruto rasengan
When you said Kenpachi was swinging around an empty blade in a world filled with people using magical powers, I lost it 😂😂
Wow, before watching your video I wrote down my list. It is uncanny that we both have the exact same order of Captains. I went back & forth between Unohana & Ainzen but ultimately settled on the order you have. 👏👏👏
tosen is very underrated, if you are fighting kenpachi of all people, good luck winning

Lovely to hear someone finally speaks highly of Unohana
I actually completely agree with this list. I’ve never agreed with a power ranking list before 🙌🏾
I'd love to see a list of of the Captains during the Soul Society Arc but ranked during all of the series of Bleach, like how strong they are at their strongest.
Sending Aizen to Hell would have caused sever disruption at his power level.. it may have shattered it
if isshin without shikai can damage cacoon aizen, then yama can definitely do so. (Yama can probably punch much harder than shunko yoruichi who cracked aizen's arm)
yama bankai ~= monster form aizen
> butterflzen
> long hair aizen >= shikai yama
> cacoon aizen
> base yama
> base aizen
Shikai Yama would body cocoon aizen and struggle with Loreal shampoo model aizen but Yama bankai would force aizen to evolve at least past what gin was able to push out.
@@msb3782 pretty sure Kisuke used Aize as an example for shinigami who's mastered high level Kido and Hakuda master even for shinigami

Visored is trash except shinji who would probably lose to an upper mid tier captain like byakuya.

Tosen’s bankai is pretty op, Zaraki is just a freak. 😭 it is the PERFECT 1v1 (or more if he can get more in it) tool. Too bad he only used it once, because of its bad performance that one time, he’s listed so low.
Yamamoto is the definition of that old adage "Be wary of the old man in a profession where men die young". The ultimate respect your elders lesson lol
Bankai's went conceptual during the TYBW arc before then they were more physical so it's unlikely
So when did they all seen Aizen Shikai? How come ichigo never saw it
No Aizen outscale Unohana. Even if you think she'd 3rd, that's just a number. He is stronger in every stat. And Aizen is still more durable than her even in SS. He stopped bankai Ichigo full attack with 1 finger. Unohana is so overrated

Also remember that Aizen went out of his way to design Wonderweiss as a counter specifically for Yamamoto and we know how that turned out.
Tosen: *in this space, all of your senses are inert!
Kenpachi: It’s alarming how much I can’t hear you.
My List
13: Toshiro Hitsugaya
12: Mayuri Kurotsuchi
11: Kaname Tousen
10: Sui Feng
9: Sajin Komamura
8: Zaraki Kenpachi
7: Byakuya Kuchiki
6: Gin Ichimaru
5: Retsu Unohana
4: Sōsuke Aizen
3: Jūshirō Ukitake
2: Shunsui Kyōraku
1: Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto
I think kaname could be a little higher. Just because he's part of the original we dim boys crew. And essentially one shoted all the visords. Another great video 📸
My bad I forgot to add my list here we go.
1) Yamamoto. the head captain
2) Aizan. you know why it's Aizan.
3) Unahona. Sword demon 👿
4) Shunsui. Old guard and strong in all areas.
5) Ukatake. Old guard.
6) Kenpachi. He's the Kenpachi
7) Gin. part of the original we dim boys crew.
This is honestly perfect tbh, could probably argue SS kenny is < gin but that could just be me
@@culleno872 Nah I'd put Gin over Kenny at this point too. We know he got stronger by Arrancar arc, we don't have any reason to think Gin is any stronger then, than he was now.
I'm glad you cleaned that Kenpachi placement, with no patch he blew away so many just to fight
I think Byakuya definitely deserves to be ranked higher. Other than that....awesome list!
I actually 100% agree with the order of this list. Of course multiple characters evolve and are expanded on as the series progresses, but for this arc, I would have to say you got it completely right.
Here is my list:
1. Yamamoto (Aizen had to make Wonderweise to be able to beat him)
2. Aizen (total package, no weakness, just not at the level of Yamamoto)
3. Unohana (might even be above Aizen, it's close)
4. Shunsui (ridiculously powerful, but not in the top 3)
5. Gin (Hardest to rank, could beat anyone on this list in the right situation)
6. Ukitake (his illness drops him some, otherwise very strong)
7. Byakuya (solid all around)
8. Mayuri (so many strengths and few weaknesses)
9. Soi Fon (strong, but this list is overpowered)
10. Kenpachi (toughness and combat experience is all he has at this point)
11. Tousen (would have killed Kenpachi easily but wanted to punish him first, which gave him time to counter)
12. Hitsugaya (inexperience holds him back)
13. Komamura (completely one dimensional, but that dimension is pretty strong, just too many weaknesses to exploit)
Bad list
Too many weaknesses?
Great work as always! I know it'd be a massive undertaking, but maybe you could do a video like this but with every captain that's been a part of the Gotei?
Honestly my only real complaint here is I think Gin has to be higher up, like he's not middle of the road. Just given what he did to transcendent Aizen and the statements that he was the single most prodigal student to ever come out of the Shinigami school (other than maybe Aizen) should put him probably 4th just below Unohana, and above Ukitake and Kyouraku given they went through the school too.
I agree but 5th after Shunsui
Remember though, this is based off of the Souk Society arc. We didn’t learn how strong Gin really was until the end of the Fake Kurakura Town Arc
Given that even Aizen underestimated his true strength and threat level, it wouldn’t even be farfetched to put him in the #3 or 4 spot.
logical reason
I personally think Gin is more powerful than Byakuya. Gin's sword is really fast and can absolutely match Byakuya shumpo. Gin can literally destroy Byakuya even with a tiny scratch from his sword.
Yup nothing convinces me that SS arc Bankai Ichigo (even considering his hollow powers) would give Gin the same kind of trouble he gave Byakuya.
@@Force-Multiplier What?
@@matheusbecker2351 ask whichever specific question you have
@@Force-Multiplier I just don't understand how Hollow mask Ichigo vs Byakuya is stronger than Hollow mask Ichigo vs Gin.
I see I'm quite behind compared to when you posted this. Bleach is my all-time favorite anime, and I love watching your content because you're extremely knowledgeable about the series from a Manga, anime, and novels standpoint. Initially, I might feel like I disagree with you sometimes, but if I do disagree initially, I usually agree with you after your detailed reasoning for your placements with such lists. I learn a bit about my favorite characters, etc, when I watch your content. I haven't read the Manga or novels. I hope to someday. Thanks for all you do. I wish I could support you more than having subscribed, watching, and liking the videos of yours that I've watched. Thanks for the time you must put into what you do.
Hey Mr.Tommo, just wanted to say I personally am so pleased with your ranking (my girl Unohana made it to the top 3!!!😳😢)
All you said made sense !
My thought exactly.
Toshiro would beat tosen tosen would not one shot Toshiro
@@Ronpesos12 toshiro is a scrub who almost never defeats his opponent and has arguably one of the weakest bankai until the later arcs 😂. The credit I will give due is he does have ice armor and aoe so yes he could beat tousen, but not because he’s strong, just that he is better equipped than most. It’s only because he’s so weak early on I didn’t add him to the counter list. I’m pretty sure just about everyone else would kick his teeth in though.
@@Ronpesos12 Toshiro has advantage over Bankai Tosen but not over Shikai Tosen since they won't be in a confined space if Tosen uses Shikai
Its true. People heavily underestimate just how op Tosens Bankai is (its kinda similar to Kyoka Suigetsu in a way lol). Lets face it, not everyone will have the balls to take a hit like Zaraki just to find out where Tosen is, Zaraki's just built different lol
Tosens Bankai would normally be a confusing and scary experience for the average foe
Maybe we will have better luck with that during the hell arc
He even beat kenpachi in this arc.
Kenpachi was going to lose
Byakuya would have stomped him and it's not even a question people forget that it was actually Shiro who beat the living fuck out of Byakuya and secured that tie for Ichigo
and in the manga the battle plays out quite differently than in the anime since Byakuya actually grabs Ichigo's blade with his hand the second time Ichigo gets close to him and Bankai Shiro wasn't blitzing Byakuya either so Byakuya really was underestimating Ichigo during that fight until he started to use Senkei since if he couldn't keep up with the mere speed of Ichigo then Shiro would have torn Byakuya's head clean of in the first hit but that wasn't the case he was slower than Bankai Shiro but not to the point where he was a statue
so Kenpachi was literally not even a threat and even a TYBW Zaraki VS TYBW Byakuya is also a losing battle to Zaraki since he's practically Deku and will get weaker and weaker as the fight progresses and he's fighting a version of Byakuya who is still much faster than him
@@Force-Multiplier I just wanna give bro some more ideas for content 😂 There’s a lot of hypothetical battles we would’ve liked to see
I feel Gin has to be one of the top ranking. He was holding back against everyone, even against late soap society Ichigo. Not to mention, the captains that you placed above Gin, can any of them deal such damage to Aizen as he did? If not for plot armor, he would killed Aizen.
this guy knows his stuff im impressed
I'd put Mayuri above Soi Fon. Arguably above Kenpachi as well, though i'm not sure. Other than that i pretty much agree with your ranking!
