I definitely agree that Ichibei's fight was #1. The quality was there, plus we got to see a lot of cool stuff. It was obvious that Yhwach had to win, but it ended up being handled in a better way than the whole clone thing with Yama. I'm not too fussed about any issues with "A" - Yhwach is the son of the Soul King, who was seen to also have those eyes, so it's not like it came out of nowhere. The "Y" brothers were practically only around as a way for Yhwach to win his fight, while the Almighty was more consistent and stuck around until the end of the arc.
Byakuya being utterly destroyed both physically and psychologically was a metaphor for Soul Society at large. Their tactics, warrior spirit and belief in 'honor' would not help against an enemy with a single minded goal and the unflinchingly ruthless will to carry it through, even if their leader reagards them as expendable. It was old Gotei 13's fall and Byakuya's ultimate humbling reality check.
He should have died, man. It would have been the ultimate sendoff for him, with incredible emotion. Tommo made a video about it before, and I am still in full agreement that Byakuya should have met his end at As Nodt's hands, begging a man who was once his enemy to protect his world (a callback to Renji's plea). Rukia's avenging his brother by slaying his killer would have meant so much more, if that were the case.
@@gregoriusrex1855 He didn't? He was also about to wipe the floor against pre Almighty real Ywhach but he just stole his bankai and one shotted him. A better send off? Mayuri and Nemu vs Pernida is my all time favourite throughout whole Bleach! Interesting motives of belligerents, creative methods of fighting, the dynamic, art and concluding with huge emotional load! This is the fight I didnt expect to be so good and so immersed in, hell, it took me and I bet all the readers by surprise, turned out to be one of the best pieces of Kubo's work! COMPLETELY agree with you in regard to the "Yourself" twist with the Yama fight. Also, great list overall! I was surprised by a few placements but I enjoyed this.

Soul reaper: “My sword shoots black holes!” Quincy: “I can swallow black holes and fart them back at you.” Soul reaper: “My Bankai can absorb black hole farts and convert them to God-lightning!”
@@bqw2094 Same. I’m writing my own series right now and most of the fights are decided by who’s more skilled. I’ve got a crazy ability here and there but they don’t make the meta.
Lol this fight is so funny to me looking back. It’s like two kids at the playground fighting with magic. “I blew you up and decapitated you so I win!” “Erm, actually I add invincibility so you never actually killed me” It’s a little ridiculous
Maybe the Royd Lloyd twist could have been better implemented if the switch happened *during* the actual fight and in *reverse*. I've always liked the idea of Yhwach being a villain that, while he can't unlock his true powers yet, will still be eager to thrown down with the heroes. Unlike Aizen, he won't bide his time to wait for an evolution, he's a warmonger that fights alongside his soldiers. But, just like Aizen, Yamamoto's raw power could create the necessity for a counter measure. Yhwach would be the only one that can capture Yamamoto's Bankai, but its newfound maturity could have prevented the Quincy King from doing so until it was weakened and fully understood. So, to fully understand Zanka no Tachi, Yhwach would be the real one and fight with Yamamoto, but when the final attack came, or during the sea of skeletons where he's surprisingly angry, he could have made a sneaky switch with Royd Lloyd using the Quincy Shadow (foreshadowed by him screaming in anger at Yamamoto, but then a panel of his eyes giving off a serious stare and his foot tapping a shadow created by a skeleton, showing that he was overreacting on purpose) and have Royd take the final attack, forcing Yamamoto to disengage his Bankai, exhausted. So when the real Yhwach appears, Yamamoto's re-ignited Bankai is running on fumes and he can now take it, thanking Royd Lloyd for his sacrifice.
Kenpchi did the same thing with Ichigo, Sort of like being a teacher. The Rukia fight is one of my favorite. Because of the Bankia and the talk with Byakuya. That Kenpachi vs Unahana is a killer fight. That 4th fight, I hope you can really explain it. Your number 3 is great also. That one line where Byakua asks Ichigo to save Soul Society. I don't remember all the battles, but I can't wait to see them all animated and hopefully many of them extended.
I absolutely loved every part of Mayuri's involvement in the arc. From his fight with zombie Toshiro to Pernida, both were amazing and can't wait to see how mayuri will look in his Sunflower form animated. Mayuri's fight with Pernida is seriously such a great character development for him and after reading that, he became my favorite character in Bleach no questions asked. Ive always found him interesting after the hueco mundo fight against szayel but tybw just solidified him as my favorite.
It's insane to think that the final fight was quite literally just Aizen vs Ywach for the most part lmao. And about the Yamamoto vs Ywach fight, i believe it could have been very interesting if it wasn't just Ywach vs Yamamoto, but Ywach and a few of the Sternritter, which would make way more sense.
But in the beginning it was just that? other Sternriters appeared to stop Yama from attacking their majesty but with the fire alone he killed almost everyone, As Nodt was among them.
The last arc was great but when you think about it the two most powerful Shinigami both die?! Ichibe and Yamamoto?! It's like if you are a mediocre to almost top tier Captain you get a pass?! But the most powerful have to die😂 How does Shunsui survive Lille but Yamamoto get killed by Royd Lloyd? I hope they change it
Hey dude, I really like your commentary and choice of still images, but imo you need to chill out on the frequency of fade in/outs (it can be quite jarring) and maybe also try adding a slow, non-centred zoom in or out effect to each still image to give them more motion and depth? Just some honest feedback, no disrespect intended. Keep up the good work!
Hopefully the anime gets the pacing right. Maybe add some extra scenes. Maybe even more backstory on certain characters more bankais anything to flesh out the story more.
Mayuri vs. Pernida is my favorite fight in the series, so I am happy it got a high placement. I also really like Bazz-B vs. Jugram, probably the most emotional battle of this arc, while Yhwach vs. Ichibei is the most epic in terms of hype, artwork and themes/symbolism. Great list overall!
The Thousand Year Blood War arc is kind of like a microcosm of the Bleach series as a whole - full of amazing concepts and confrontations but ultimately falling to execute them the way they deserve - in other words - what we have is very good, but what we COULD have gotten is peak fiction. If only Kubo had the time to think it through
@@kameron3535 the start was very bad tho..when i mean bad not animation wise but the story is too fast its progressed poorly they dont put enough effort..characters are lifeless cause every scene is fast.
I personally lived the Ichigo and Orihime vs Yhwach fight, because it was such great scene setting. The choreography and monologue was great for Yhwach, and seeing Orihime fight was great. It did a great job setting up the last fight, which I don't think fully delivered. What we did see was great though
Hi MrTommoooo I really love your videos and I thinkk itll be so interesting if you could have a ranking of your favourite panels from the bleach manga!! You were mentioning in your previous video (kyoraku vs lille) that there was a panel that stood out to you when multiple Kyorak leap out of the shadows, and i thought that would be so cool to have a ranking!
I agree with you when it comes with byakuya's fight being 2nd. And it makes it even sweeter that byakuya who never asks for help in anything as we have seen in the previous chapters is the one who asks Ichigo to save the soul society.
Because I aways interpreted that technique as working like a filter the part's with the least hollow reishi get shredded and filtered to be used immediately and the more toxic part's are puppeted by quincy strings until they degrade enough to turn into raw reishi
mayuri vs pernida goes crazy but mayuri vs giselle is just really cool for me, especially with zombie bambi and toshiro. It’s that sort of chilling horror when you realize that they got toshiro and turned him zombie, and then it’s mayuris antics and personality, and it’s awesome
I would make a list, but considering the anime is going to extend certain fights as well as show others that weren't in the manga, I feel like it's going to change my mind on certain things. Also sometimes the anime just takes a fight from the manga and makes it way better (Hisagi vs. Findor). I will say though that we both have the same number 1, as things currently stand.
Honestly, i think it would've been cool if tye survivibg arrancar, and sternritter were actually recruited into the gotei 13 after the final arc. It would've been really fun to see which squad the characters decided to join
I just absolutely loved Yhwach vs Ichibe, Urahara vs Askin, and Mayuri vs Pernidas those 3 fights are close to perfect Imo I also really enjoyed Shunsui vs Lille although Shunsui's Bankai not getting the kill and the ending with Nano does irk me, but as a whole it is still a fantastic fight. Really hoping the anime fleshes out some Ichigo fights and we get to see the rest of Zero Division get a proper fight
I believe everyone under values the significance of the MVP of this arc, Chair-sama. Chair-sama setting aside it's overwhelming power to allow Aizen to join the final battle is what turned the tide. Without Chair-sama's sacrifice, the day would never have been won.
Ichibe vs Yuhabah is not a traditional anime style characters fighting. Usually its pretty boys or handsome men or old men fighting. Here its real traditional manly macho men ; one with big moustache and other bald & bearded fighting. (& it is a major fight) Very unique in the entire anime verse
I remember when I first watched the anime I heard he eventually got his bankai and was so hyped to see it but when the anime ended and that moment never came I was extremely upset
I really hope they make a few changes to the gremmy right and expand it. I agree with the fact that the ending of the fight felt very rushed. It was kicking off to be really intense. I honestly was hoping gremmy would use his vollstandig after realizing he’s outclassed by kenpachi using his shikai
The only way to defeat Yamamoto was trickery. Kubo knew he created a OP character in Yamamoto who is one of my favorite characters in Bleach. Aizen and Ywach couldn't defeat him with their strength alone. His defeats to me now that I think about it is metaphoric comparing Yamamoto and Kuraku. Yamamoto is traditional, set in his ways, and straight foward in battle compared to Kuraku who is open minded, innovative, and is willing to use deception to defeat his opponents.
15:30 I feel like it would have been a crazy twist if they somehow made it to where Byakuya was all in Rukia’s imagination and that he was actually dead that whole time
For me the Ichibei-Yhwach has always been interesting because for me it shows a big similarity between them. Just like Yhwach gives power by giving letters, or names Ichibei takes powers away by "stealing" letters. And it's notwithstanding that both characters powers are black "liquid" looking.
28:24 That would've been so cool now that you mention it. A Kisuke, Yoruichi and Soi fon trio fight would be such a spectacle considering their chemistry with each other. Askin vs Yoruichi and Kisuke is one of my fav fights of the series, but Kubo could have done much more by adding Soi fon to it.
*Here's my top 13: 13 - Hitsugaya vs Mayuri 12 - Bazz vs Jugo 11 - Gremmy vs Kenpachi 10 - Gerard vs Gotei 13 9 - Yachiru vs Zaraki 8 - Aizen vs Yhwach 7 - As vs Byakuya 6 - Oetsu vs Schutstaffel 5 - Shunsui vs Lille 4 - Yama vs Yhwach 3 - Askin vs Kisuke 2 - Ichibei vs Yhwach 1 - Mayuri vs Pernida
There's nothing wrong with Yoru's lightning form. The two of them clearly have strong enough trust in one-another that Yoru isn't going to develop any kind of trauma from it.
I just finished reading this arc and my top 3 fights have gotta be Kenpachi vs Unohana, Kenpachi vs Remi and Ichigo Renji and Aizen vs Yhwach. That last battle is probably the best way to end off the arc. It gave me hard-core Goku and Frieza vs Jiren vibes. To see the main character and a major villain team up is always badass to see. Especially when Aizen threw off Yhwach with Kyoka Suigetsu. I literally freaked out and yelled when I read that part. 100000/10 arc. I love it
Pretty good; would have included the Mask de Masculine fight due to how goofy it gets (the big one with Renji); maybe also Yama vs. Driscoll as sort of a powerful prelude to Yama/Yhwach.
Normally i'd agree with you on your lists but I can't believe you didn't include the Gerad fight in your list when in truth it could easily be the top 3 fights in the whole arc and even series!
you mentioned it yourself, but it was SUCH a common issue in the TYBW arc to come out strong only to mess up at the end. Zaraki gets an amazing growth arc that requires Unohana's DEATH, gets his shikai AND bankai.....then his own power kicks his ass after effectively achieving nothing. Shunsui has an amazing showcase against a legitimately scary and interesting opponent....until he pulls the elite 4 special of 'nuh uh invincible lol' and they have to resort to their own bullshit dues ex machina to win. Gerrard.....sucks, moving on. Yamamoto gets this amazing curtain call.....only to have all gravitas removed by it being some random cosplayer. The quincy suffered greatly from, i feel, Kubo not really knowing how to use them and to make them a legitimate threat after AIZEN of all people. so over and over again we found them resorting to either powers that directly contradict in universe common sense, like Quilge Opie fusing with a hollow while the entire arc beats us over the head with MULTIPLE examples of how hollow reiatsu is extremely poisonous to quincy, or the extremely tiresome overuse of some kind of 'your attack didnt work because reasons'. The quincy had SO much potential because they were effectively the 'tech' faction, using tools that manipulate reiatsu to fight monsters. The bankai sealing charms were an amazing example of this. buuuut then half of them didnt even use bows or projectiles at all and had powers that more resembled those of a hollow. They COULD have been a threat because they used modern technology and military strategy vs the very dated and traditional shinigami but instead we ended up with arrancar using cheat codes ^^'
The pernida fight definitely should be higher. Yoruichi (can't spell I know) should have at least used her sword in since this is her final fight, however I don't see how Askin is as strong as the other members of the "royal guard" (again, I can't spell). I completely disagree with the number 2 pick. It doesn't feel like a full fight, but the ending is one of the best in the series like you point out. Overall, I do agree with the list including the final pick.
Honestly seeing Renji recover from getting booted across the Sereitei is one of my hopes. Other than just getting every fight longer, Renji deserves to get a glow up outside of that fullbring banter.
Maybe you guys wont agree but byakuya should have died fighting As Nodt. His last words being "protect soul society, kurosaki ichigo" would hold so much impact especially because he is not the type of man to ever ask for help. Only yamamoto and his leutenant die in the first invasion and they were both characters that lets be honest werent in your top 5 favorites list. His death would also make rukia vs as nodt more satisfying where she takes revenge agaisnt him. Also byakuya being dead means his opponents later on can be given to other characters that didnt get a proper fight or just screentime in general

@@bqw2094 Same. I’m writing my own series right now and most of the fights are decided by who’s more skilled. I’ve got a crazy ability here and there but they don’t make the meta.
Lol this fight is so funny to me looking back. It’s like two kids at the playground fighting with magic.
“I blew you up and decapitated you so I win!”
“Erm, actually I add invincibility so you never actually killed me”
It’s a little ridiculous
As Nodt vs Byakuya was definitely one of the best, can't wait to see it happen!
Kyoraku vs lille is madness 🔥
11:10 never thought about it that way 🤯
Maybe the Royd Lloyd twist could have been better implemented if the switch happened *during* the actual fight and in *reverse*.
Yea that's never happening lmao and yama was just speculating about stealing bankai but Yhwach proved him wrong that only he can control it
Interesting to see how it wil be handled in the anime
Kenpchi did the same thing with Ichigo, Sort of like being a teacher. The Rukia fight is one of my favorite. Because of the Bankia and the talk with Byakuya. That Kenpachi vs Unahana is a killer fight. That 4th fight, I hope you can really explain it. Your number 3 is great also. That one line where Byakua asks Ichigo to save Soul Society. I don't remember all the battles, but I can't wait to see them all animated and hopefully many of them extended.
I gotta say, you have singlehandedly revived my love for bleach.
thats tommo for u.
Can’t wait for the extra fights hopefully + hopefully Gremmy gets an extra fight since he is one of my favorite characters in the whole entire series
❤
Great analysis of the yamamoto v ywach fight. You really hit the nail on the head. Awesome fight but really quite a bit spoiled by the clone twist.
Wow I think I might agree with your entire list!! xD
Keep up the great work man!
Really agree on your top 1, the anime will be like a dream seeing all these fights.
What a Great List and video, well done
Nothing gets me more excited for the anime than this.
Your videos butter my biscuits thank you
Man the way you present the fights is so good and it’s so interesting I love your videos keep it up👌
I LOVE how Pernida subtly mocked Mayuri: "Pernida is a Quincy... ...he can shoot arrows with a bow and arrows."
Hilarious.
"Want to get MORE nervous?"
I don't get it.
I hope they change it
@@gregoriusrex1855 Ywach killed Yama and ichibei isn’t dead
Zanpakuto creator guy just oblirated the elite sternritters was badass
Hey dude, I really like your commentary and choice of still images, but imo you need to chill out on the frequency of fade in/outs (it can be quite jarring) and maybe also try adding a slow, non-centred zoom in or out effect to each still image to give them more motion and depth? Just some honest feedback, no disrespect intended. Keep up the good work!
I love how Ichibe represents the whole "The pen is mightier than the sword" phrase
Great list overall!
this video is literally perfect timing… just watched the videos for the arrancar saga and soul society
Rukia vs As Nodt was probably my favorite, although it would’ve been more meaningful if Byakuya was killed earlier on.
I subbed to the game channel, and just wanna let you know how excited I am to hear your take on bloodborne
Still mad Grimmjow and Hisagi didn't get their screentime in this arch.
The existence of a Thousand Year Blood War implies the existence of an equally long Sweat War and an equally long Tear War.
Gotta say the Renji vs Mask is ridiculous but awesome at the same time
Ayee the video i was waiting for lets go! 🔥
The Thousand Year Blood War arc is kind of like a microcosm of the Bleach series as a whole - full of amazing concepts and confrontations but ultimately falling to execute them the way they deserve - in other words - what we have is very good, but what we COULD have gotten is peak fiction. If only Kubo had the time to think it through
At least we have the anime coming soon so Kubo could definitely make it peak fiction
And the anime is doing the same.peak fiction poorly executed
@@mitsos1397 the anime is literally only on its 3rd ep
@@kameron3535 the start was very bad tho..when i mean bad not animation wise but the story is too fast its progressed poorly they dont put enough effort..characters are lifeless cause every scene is fast.
no.
Kyouraku in his debut as Captain commander was absolutely Legendary 💯🙌🏾🙌🏾 My Favorite Shinigami
I'd love to see you address how even though kilge is a Quincy he still absorbs ayon's hollow body which is said to be toxic to Quincy.
Because I aways interpreted that technique as working like a filter the part's with the least hollow reishi get shredded and filtered to be used immediately and the more toxic part's are puppeted by quincy strings until they degrade enough to turn into raw reishi
@@coldfrost3 I never thought about it like that
mayuri vs pernida goes crazy but mayuri vs giselle is just really cool for me, especially with zombie bambi and toshiro.
I just absolutely loved Yhwach vs Ichibe, Urahara vs Askin, and Mayuri vs Pernidas those 3 fights are close to perfect Imo
I also really enjoyed Shunsui vs Lille although Shunsui's Bankai not getting the kill and the ending with Nano does irk me, but as a whole it is still a fantastic fight.
Really hoping the anime fleshes out some Ichigo fights and we get to see the rest of Zero Division get a proper fight
I really hope they animate Ikkaku, Renji, Yumichika, Shuhei, Byakuya, and Rukia vs Bazz B, Nanana, Pepe, Robert and the Bambis.
Watching this again... Man Renji vs Mask?? That one was so cool. I'd honestly take It over the final battle anyday
ngl love every fight in that arc! so hyped for it!
I cannot wait for your breakdown of Yhwach vs Ichibei. That would be awesome
MrTommo with another banger
I believe everyone under values the significance of the MVP of this arc, Chair-sama. Chair-sama setting aside it's overwhelming power to allow Aizen to join the final battle is what turned the tide. Without Chair-sama's sacrifice, the day would never have been won.
Aizen and Jugo are the real Mvps
Ichibe vs Yuhabah is not a traditional anime style characters fighting.
Usually its pretty boys or handsome men or old men fighting. Here its real traditional manly macho men ; one with big moustache and other bald & bearded fighting. (& it is a major fight)
Very unique in the entire anime verse
I remember when I first watched the anime I heard he eventually got his bankai and was so hyped to see it but when the anime ended and that moment never came I was extremely upset
Great vid man!
15:30 I feel like it would have been a crazy twist if they somehow made it to where Byakuya was all in Rukia’s imagination and that he was actually dead that whole time
Goofy
For me the Ichibei-Yhwach has always been interesting because for me it shows a big similarity between them. Just like Yhwach gives power by giving letters, or names Ichibei takes powers away by "stealing" letters. And it's notwithstanding that both characters powers are black "liquid" looking.
I dont think as was nerfed but it was written showing how much rukia has grown
28:24 That would've been so cool now that you mention it. A Kisuke, Yoruichi and Soi fon trio fight would be such a spectacle considering their chemistry with each other. Askin vs Yoruichi and Kisuke is one of my fav fights of the series, but Kubo could have done much more by adding Soi fon to it.
*Here's my top 13:
13 - Hitsugaya vs Mayuri
12 - Bazz vs Jugo
11 - Gremmy vs Kenpachi
10 - Gerard vs Gotei 13
9 - Yachiru vs Zaraki
8 - Aizen vs Yhwach
7 - As vs Byakuya
6 - Oetsu vs Schutstaffel
5 - Shunsui vs Lille
4 - Yama vs Yhwach
3 - Askin vs Kisuke
2 - Ichibei vs Yhwach
1 - Mayuri vs Pernida
There's nothing wrong with Yoru's lightning form. The two of them clearly have strong enough trust in one-another that Yoru isn't going to develop any kind of trauma from it.
They clearly banged at some point
I just finished reading this arc and my top 3 fights have gotta be Kenpachi vs Unohana, Kenpachi vs Remi and Ichigo Renji and Aizen vs Yhwach. That last battle is probably the best way to end off the arc. It gave me hard-core Goku and Frieza vs Jiren vibes. To see the main character and a major villain team up is always badass to see. Especially when Aizen threw off Yhwach with Kyoka Suigetsu. I literally freaked out and yelled when I read that part. 100000/10 arc. I love it
I'm very excited for this thank you for making good quality bleach content 🙂
One of my favorite underrated fights was Mayuri vs Giselle - because I remberer how crazy it was the twists and turns in each chapter
Kensei and Rose vs Mask de Masculine animated should deliver on speed and hard hitting action, should be spectacular.
Some fights were clearly cut or to short. Would love to see an update of this post anime
It has just occurred to me that this guy does not have a flashy intro like some other manga channels, down to business from second 0 !
Pretty good; would have included the Mask de Masculine fight due to how goofy it gets (the big one with Renji); maybe also Yama vs. Driscoll as sort of a powerful prelude to Yama/Yhwach.
Fingers crossed disney doesn't get censor happy with these fights
I subscribed to your channel your the best bleach reviewer in youtube 💯
Normally i'd agree with you on your lists but I can't believe you didn't include the Gerad fight in your list when in truth it could easily be the top 3 fights in the whole arc and even series!
25:56 today I learned Mayuri was part of CP9 at one point of his career
My favorites and can't wait to see animated and expanded are Renji Vs Mask, Shunsui Vs Lille, Sajin Vs Bambietta and Uryu Vs Jugram
Hey Mr. Tommo! Can you please make a video of the 4 Noble families? This is my first request from you Captain.
The Mayuri fight was definitely my favorite of his fights for the entire series, and in the top three for at least the blood war.
you mentioned it yourself, but it was SUCH a common issue in the TYBW arc to come out strong only to mess up at the end.
They COULD have been a threat because they used modern technology and military strategy vs the very dated and traditional shinigami but instead we ended up with arrancar using cheat codes ^^'
i feel like were forgetting when kenpachi goes full demon for his banaki
The pernida fight definitely should be higher. Yoruichi (can't spell I know) should have at least used her sword in since this is her final fight, however I don't see how Askin is as strong as the other members of the "royal guard" (again, I can't spell). I completely disagree with the number 2 pick. It doesn't feel like a full fight, but the ending is one of the best in the series like you point out. Overall, I do agree with the list including the final pick.
Askin had Ichigo beat in a few moments
Mayuri and Nemu vs Pernida, for ever the best battle in 1.000 year blood war arc.
Renji was never part of that final battle against Ywach. That was an illusion remember ?
