Battle Analysis videos are back! This was a lot of fun to discuss - what did you think of this battle? Would you change anything about how it played out? Let me know!
Been waiting for this vid for minute, I am glad you made it. The execution is 🤌🤌 chefs kiss beautiful now I go back into hibernation for the Zero Division vs Quincy Royal Guard battle analysis
Really like the changes to the core battle you suggested, but the one thing I would add to make it even more impactful is to keep Byakuya out of the story until he uses Senkei. And by keep out I mean he is not there when Rukia defats Äs Nödt nor does he ever leave the Holy Palace once brought there to be healed, so his brief fight with Pepe can be handed off to another captain/vice-captain before Zombie Kensei and Zombie Rose show up (or be given to one of the non-reinstated Visored who show up in the middle of the second invasion and not after). Like imagine the impact it would have been after not seeing Byakuya for about 160 chapters for him to come back into the story and completely wreck Gerard with Senkei.
Yea and let the other captains fight the sternritters that he off-screened. I just dont see what's the point of him fighting 5 sternritters at once just to be off-screened.
I agree with your rewrite of the fight. I really want to like the elite Quincy, but no-rules immortality is one of my biggest pet peeves in Shonen. It immediately removes any tension from the scenario, because when it's on a villain you know someone's going to pull the plug at some point. It's just a truckload of empty spectacle until the plug is pulled. Gerard as a character might've been more interesting if all his bluster and bravado were red harings to distract his enemies from the linchpin that holds his body together. Sort of like an Excalibur's Scabbard situation. That aside, I hope the other characters at least get some dignity to their defeats. I know the outcome isn't going to change, but the anime has done a good job of extending overlooked fights so far.
I’ve said this a lot, but i think soifon could’ve been great in this fight, especially cuz she barely got slmething to do. Her bankai could’ve been amazing for destroying the cross, finally landing a ‘one hit kill’ on gerard. Would’ve been awesome
if that all three did a combo to destroy that Quincy cross, it wouldve been cool is hitsugya froze Gerard while his mouth was open, byakuya uses zenbonsakura down his throat and destroys the cross from the inside, and kenpachi shatters the whole body
52:33 wasn't the move he only did 2 times before the one where he has that circle of light around or behind him and wings and runs at Ichigo with a sword ?
As bonkers as this fight was, it feels like the final boss that Yammy was supposed to be. I mean, Yammy reveals himself to be the “actual” strongest Espada when his number becomes zero, only to be memed off-screen by two already fatigued captains. Then there’s Gerard, who literally can’t die unless his own boss pulls his plug(good thing he did just that lol).
why do people keep saying this.. dont people realize uquiorra lost his number when he transformed.. so hes beyond all numbers.. yammy was fodder and he gets way too many exscuses for why he never scared anyone in the entire bleach story.. all the other espada put fear in people more than him..he was a gag character.. even the skeleton guy that kept growing more of himself and was below espada was more of threat than him...shit even the sand demon that they fought was more effective in battle.. yammy was NEVER effective in battle.. for 7000 exscuses but facts remain.. hes the only espada that was NEVER effective.. fuck the explanations.. i only deal with facts... everytime he powered up mayuri didnt even budge he was only concerned about slicing him into more peices and byakuya and kenpachi lost interest in him and popped up in the soul society completely healthy.. yall keep lying to your own eyes.. kubo wrote this shit badly.. that 0 yammy had failed to show us anything special.. im out
@@mentalprograming5365 your argument is groundless, because both barragan and harribel also lose their ranking just by going into resurrecion (1st form). Do you want to say that harribel's 1st resurrecion is stronger than starrk and comparable to ulquiorra's Segunda etapa?? Not to mention, Kubo himself said it in Q&A that yammy is absolutely deserving of his rank and being the strongest of all Espadas, until the introduction of cien granz.
I am honestly amazed how characters like Komamura, Soifon or Shinji didn't get a second chance and just got thrown out of the plot with pretty nuch nothing to do while Byakuya, Hitsugaya and Zaraki just keep getting all the buffs and all the attention.
Komamura should've been given the Gerard fight. Thematically, they're both very similar yet contrasting characters. Both are extremely loyal undying giants with a strong sense of justice. Komamura wishes to kill yhwach at any cost whereas Gerard will protect Yhwach at any cost. Hell, Komamura is literally a guy without a heart and Gerard is the heart of God ffs. Meanwhile, Bambietta felt like she was grabbed out of a hat to be Komamura's opponent. Like there is no significance with the two characters besides her stealing his bankai.
@@ryuzakikurai711 The thing is, Gerard’s on a completely different tier of power than Komamura. It took 3 of the Gotei’s top 5 strongest/most dangerous Captains (other 2 being Kyoraku and Mayuri) to fight Gerard. And Gerard gets stronger when he revived. Komamura is just immortal and doesn’t get any buffs passed humanification in general
@@MaxIronsThird Bambietta wasn’t really among the strongest Sternritter. Beating her was impressive but c’mon, Kenpachi beat Gremmy with Shikai only, and Gerard tanks Kenpachi’s Bankai. Komamura just doesn’t scale to those guys imo.
"It involves the big three of captains: Byakuya, Hitsugaya, and Toshiro" 🤣🤣 Man Hitsugaya and his big brother were both in the running for big three of captains but zaraki couldn't make the cut lol 2:13
I do think it's interesting that Gerard spent a lot of time talking about the definition of a true miracle. So I guess real miracles do in fact have the power to override completely broken abilities.
I know some people might not agree with this, but I really love how powerful Gerard, and by extension the rest of the Schutzstaffel, ended up being. It really helped sell the fact that they weren't just another batch of enemies. They were effectively gods, and their powers, abilities, and near-immortality represented that fact really well.
it went too far with him Askin and Pernida are what I'd call "fairly broken" they are really powerful, layers of power but not out of hand, same for Lille till he digivolves into an owl Gerard is literally a fuck you card, you CAN NOT win period. Almost like you should've just let him loose at the start. hes just bad writing
The issue I have (but it's pretty common in shonens) is that if paired versus any other captains, the Shutzstaffel are pretty much unbeatable. They conveniently had to cross path with the only people that could beat each one of them.
This is my most anticipated fight in the anime because of how long it goes on and how it just keeps getting crazier and crazier. Manga just can't perfectly capture the monstrous blows an absolute Behemoth like Gerard is dishing out and taking. I think seeing this fight in motion will significantly elevate it
The star that is inside of Gerard is his how he activates his Vollstandig, like how Lille has the star, As Nodt rolls his eye, Quilge’s glove, it’s just how he activates Vollstandig.
Yeah, it's shown pretty clearly that when he regenerates it starts from there. I'm also pretty sure that would be his weakness and how he would have been defeated if the fight went on.
I think this fight is probably the one that suffered the most from the last stretch of the series being rushed, aside from the final battle. You could tell that Kubo really took his time with and wanted the Pernida and Lille fights to feel really grand and epic. Askin vs. Kisuke being comparatively much shorter I think works, because it does show that compared to the other Elites, Askin was essentially a Man placed among Gods. But the faster pace does hurt the Gerad fight, since it is meant to be one last big showcase for the Soul Reapers. As for how I would have ended the fight? Well, I think what was being made clear during the fight was that Gerad was never going to be defeated by a traditional "using brute force" method. Kenpachi's Bankai not being able to kill him was proof enough of that. So, now knowing what we know, I would have let the fight get to the point of where pretty much all of the Soul Reapers are barely able to fight. And that, is where we get Shinji showing up, while declaring that he is going to turn this whole situation around. After all, wouldn't that be something worthy of being called a miracle? He then activates his Bankai, causing Gerad to turn around and start marching towards the main castle, while proclaiming that he is going to cut down Yhwach for the sake of his allies. This, is what makes Yhwach use the Auswählen, which also ends up killing Jugram. Which is the final showcase of how Yhwach is willing to disregard all of the Quincy, as long as it helps him achieve his goal of avoiding his own death. Which has been a consistent theme throughout the entire arc and really illustrates how Yhwach sees all of the Quincy as nothing more then tools for him to use. That way, we get a epic battle that ultimately ends with the Soul Reapers winning not by using brute force, but instead by turning Gerad's greatest strength against him. As well as giving Shinji a nice chance to get a win that shows off how his power can be used in a clever way.
That would be pretty cool. I definitely think there should be greater justification for yhwach deciding to kill his two strongest allies for what seems like no reason whatsoever. Like maybe Ichigo is fighting at the same time and starts pushing yhwach back a little bit and that’s what makes him aushwalen so he can get more power or something. Your idea is a little better though I like it
@@corruptangel6793 You could just say that Gerard becamse so massive that Shinji used his Shunpo to reach him and his size was so gargantuan that his Bankai wouldn't be able to reach his allies.
Imma need the 3 vizards to get an expanded scene in this fight. Too many people got one shotted during this fight, Momo lasted longer than most people in that fight.
Momo transcended and became unkillable so there's no wonder. She's an ultimate cover for any captain since she's always ready to drag him away from the battlefield should he fail.
@@corruptangel6793 The problem with the fight was Gérard one shotting everyone but not attempting to one shot byakuya and toshiro so it really emphasized the fact that Kubo just wanted to show them off. Like when kenpachi used bankai, Gerard so conveniently decided to not use hoffnung and attack him head on with brute force
@@bicevipribicevipri7240 you think Gerard was attempting to one-shot the others, but not Byakuya, Toshiro and Kenpachi? To quote Aizen: "it's hard to step on ants without crushing them." I never got that impression at all. He swatted at them...and they went splat...the trio didn't. It really is as simple as that. He never showed any form of effort in attacking exept when fighting Kenpachi and mature bankai Toshiro. You can call Gerard putting down hoffnung to face Bankai Kenpachi convenient, I wouldn't, I think his decision was perfectly justified, but you're assuming using his sword would matter in that moment. You're probably assuming Kenpachi would do the same thing if he were facing the sword and not the fist, I don't think he would. I think he would just ignore the sword and go straight for the arm or head. He may be berzerking, but he's not stupid or mindless. After all, he was wise enough to momentarily fall back when Gerard revived a second time.
@Corrupt Angel Except the other dude is still not wrong. Kubo was just playing favourites. Lisa and Love have basically had no abilities revealed so Kubo had the chance to make them as powerful as he wanted and give them a bit of shine. Lisa is apparently strong enough to be a Captain at the end of series and means she has a Bankai, Love was a former Captain meaning he also has a bankai. Yet rather than showing them off they just get slapped away so he can give his favourites more screen time? So your whole stupid ass Aizen ants quote is just that stupid. Since the only reason you’re comparing them to “ants” is because Kubo wasted a prime opportunity to show them off and give them some shine and instead just wanked Tosh, Byakuya and Kenny some more. They’re only “ants” because the writer played favourites and has a nasty habit of introducing a gazillion different character but alway focused on the same favourites and ignores the rest.
My problem with this fight is that I already know how powerful Byakuya, Hitsugaya, and Zaraki are I would've loved to see more from the other characters hopefully a lot is changed for this section in the anime perhaps Hiyori doesn't have to be apart of this fight but instead can join Kisuke against Askin and Lisa can join Nanao and Kyoraku against Lille so that this fight doesn't have to be crowded with so many characters
The funny part is that Zaraki was too strong for his own good. If he were still in 1st Miracle when Toshiro used his Mature Bankai, they might have won. But Kenpachi made Gerard too damn strong
Well I have a feelin Kenpachis bankai is similar to gerard the more you hit him or the more he hits you the stronger he gets, that is why i think he just crossed his threshold and could not contain his power no imagine if he learns about this and starts to strengthen his body , imagine how strong he would get
@IBRAHIM SURTI maybe, but I doubt it. It seems to be similar to Ichigo's original Bankai. Ichigo's bankai encased him in his power and vastly increased his speed. Gerard infuses his power into his flesh and vastly increases his strength. Ironically, they both also had another person controlling their flow of power. Ichigo had Old Man Zangetsu, and Zaraki has Yachiru.
@Rayan Toshiro proved his mature bankai had the potential to kill Gerard and neg the Miracle when he froze Gerard's hope. It's just that he was too damn strong in his 2nd Miracle state.
Absolutely detest this fight because not only is the flow broken up sporadically, but it is the biggest cesspool of disappointment of any fight in the arc, even more than the Zero Division flopping. There are so many characters involved who desperately needed some fight exposition and now we have a nigh unkillable and colossal enemy who would be extremely fitting for a proper battle royal. And NONE of the characters who needed it got to do anything meaningful. Even of the big three captains, Byakuya is the only one who needed to properly demonstrate his post training abilities and does the least. Just a complete disappointment through and through. No random and unnecessary Zaraki Bankai or fan service Toshiro can change that for me.
I feel like The Miracle shouldn’t activate if he gets killed the same way twice. He would still get stronger but it would force him to be more careful in the fight. Like Byakuya once said “Miracles only happen once”
@@sgnitzlennahvyes, but it would be more balanced and potentially lead to a more compelling story/fight if there was an actual, legitimate limit or restriction to his power - even if it was as little as it takes him longer to recover from the same injury over and over, thus opening him up to actually getting permanently killed
@@dougla517 well maybe, but I think once in a while it's ok to make the villain unbeatable, and the hero can never get to beat the villain ever. Sure, It give that dissatisfaction and angry feeling because the hero didn't actually win and that they were only save by circumstances. but it did manage to emphasize that the villain is in entirely different level than the hero
Kubo might be too creative for his own good, battles like this are very cool with all the reveals and power ups but it causes a lot of issues regarding story telling and believability. Will always be my favorite mangaka and one of my favorite artists over all of all time.
Anytime they start putting in busted shit like immortality or ninjutsu absorption or any of that kinda shit it completely ruins any sort of weight or importance any attacks ever have. Just nothing matters anymore.
I mean everyone had fun reading it but it's not a well written fight , extremely op character fights can be written well like the um1 fight in demon Slayer
The only issue i have is gerard only being able to be killed by ywach. It doesn't feel like the captains did anything other than pulling out their new abilities. Then the miracle monster just dies? What was the point of the fight other than the captains acting cool? Im fine with ywach killing gerard. Its just when you have byakuya, toshiro and zaraki, they should at least be doing some kind of real damage.
I think Gerard was leading them on that he was going to do something before Byakuya killed him at the beginning. He’s a trap with arms and legs because his power doesn’t enlarge him until he is killed.
I absolutly love gerard, his personalilty, power, and this fight was one of my favorite ones, it was so nice to see toshiro, byakuya, and kenpachi team up, seeing their new powers, attacks, and bankai
Something I've been thinking about for a bit, but if Gerard really is a Quincy golem and takes his cues from the original golem of Prague, then the masses that form the basis of his Miracle might be generations of Quincies in hiding praying for protection against the predations of the Shinigami and longing to return to the light, which makes his potential origin all the sadder and humanizes the Wandenreich to a small extent.
I wish she and other underrated characters would get more cool screentime. I wouldn't mind seeing Iba, Shuuhei, Matsumoto or Vizards in action (however some of them had their moments in Arrancar arc).
I don't want this to be viewed in bad faith, but I was really disappointed in this fight when I first read it. Ya, Kubo's health and jump were big components in that, but I also have a hot take here. I don't think Kubo is very good at writing team battles. That or he doesn't enjoy writing them. Now this doesn't really affect the overall quality of Bleach or anything because there are way more 1v1's that are fantastic, but if the Yammy fight is any indication then I don't think this fight could be fixed even if Kubo didn't have to rush the ending. Simply put, most of the "team" battles in the series tend to dissolve into individual moments rather than the team synergizing with each other's abilities and skills (Most of them not all of them). This leads to a lot of them becoming really straightforward which isn't necessarily bad but he doesn't so often. Hachi and Soifon's "team" battle was just Hachi making a barrier and Soifon using her Bankai before just turning into Hachi vs Barragan. Uryu and Renji's "team" battle had one moment where they worked together and that didn't even work. Toshiro and Rangiku had an awesome combination but then Bazz B just over powers them both. I really don't like how Kubo dumbs down allies in these moments. And as Mr Tommo said you don't have to have the Visored do anything to major. Just give them a moment in the battle and then have them get knocked out. It would feel like a more dynamic foght rather then Kubo deliberately knocking out characters right away that he doesn't intend to let shine.
There’s a lot of “INCREDIBLE GOD LIKE MOMENTS” in the fight especially for Both ⭐️(Torshiro & Kenpachi)⭐️ Also 47:30 the only we see Adult Hitsugaya/True Bankai in a Captain suit is in Jump Force
Kubo took Shinji out because he knew that Sakanade is highly effective against Gerard. Gerard can't counter sakanade. With Sakanade activated on Gerard, he can't injured any of the shinigamis including the vizards. Besides, Gerard is kinda dumb too.
When I first read this part I really hated this fight, now I think its the fight I'm looking the most forward too in the anime. The scale, setting and the fighters are really cool. I hope the anime makes this as big of a spectacle as possible.
As cool as this fight is, it reminds me a lot of the yammy battle from the arrancar arc. This big , seemingly invincible dude who exists just to keep byakuya and kenpachi from getting involved with the main villain. Gerard did it better, at least.
@@ryuzakikurai711 and what round 2 kenpachi never fought real yhwach 💀 He would be dead if he did he fought yhwach's clone These zarakitards are mad unreal
My understanding of Kenpachi's bankai was that he was self destructing due to the intensity of his own spiritual pressure combined with his inexperience in using bankai, similar to how Ichigo was being "crushed by [his] own spiritual pressure" back when he first used it in SS arc as said by his hollow, causing him to move slower and slower until he'd lost his speed advantage. I consider this relevant because as you mentioned this fight would've been a good opportunity for Yumichika to have his moment of using shikai in front of others from Squad 11; That shikai just happens to be capable of siphoning off a target's spirit energy, and not only was he present on site, there were other allied combatants that were experienced bankai users present. Among those bankai-capable shinigami was Byakuya, who told Renji himself about how an inexperienced use of bankai can be more a detriment than an asset in battle, and who witnessed Ichigo's inexperienced use of bankai first hand & the effect it had on him (including Ichigo's hollow's claim about his condition). There was very real potential for a scenario here where Kenpachi's being torn apart by his own bankai, Yumichika finally shows his true shikai to others, Byakuya puts two and two together, and at his suggestion Yumichika to use his shikai's vines to bind Kenpachi's wounds together while siphoning off excess spiritual pressure in an effort to keep his output at a sustainable level (similar to how Kenpachi uses the eyepatch in base). I think that could've made for a good moment.
Thinking about how you’d write it, the only main issue I have is with Rukia and Hakka no Togame. If she uses it in tandem with all the other bankais and he inevitably lives due to the miracle she’s now stuck having to thaw and would very likely ultimately die. Unless Byakuya held her off until the end in a last ditch effort with Hitsugaya or something before Yhawch takes Gerald’s powers back. I like the idea of a desperate fight with everyone but Rukia is a high risk with her bankai in that fight IMO
The way the last several chapters were so heavily rushed I feel like Isshin and Ryuken were definitely supposed to do more than just give Uryu the arrowhead.
Honestly I'd be fine if in the anime the fight still ends with Gerard getting ashwalend because I genuinely think Gerard actually let yhwach take his power but I really hope it gets expanded the most out of all the shutsztafel fights
With Kenpaichi Gerard was overpowering with each evolution. With Adult Toshiro he simply pulled out the "I'm unaffected by your powers" card, having straight up immunity to the elements. Gerard is a harder counter to Toshiro than Barragan was to Soifon.
I for sure thought that the Quincy cross inside of Gerard was going to play a huge role in the battle overall because it was shown as a sort of Chekhov's gun. What I thought was going to happen was Byakuya sees the cross and comes up with a plan where Kenpachi uses his new Bankai to cut Gerard in half, Toshiro uses his fully mature Bankai to freeze him while the cross is exposed then Byakuya finishes him off by using ikka senjika, destroying Gerards Quincy cross revealing it to be the source of his divine power like Lille Barro's halo taking away his ability to revive and when the cross breaks the frozen Gerard crumbles making it snow in the seireitei.
Gerard was my personal favourite character in this arc he made the situation for the Captains and Vizards feel impossible I'd have loved to seen Shinji fight alongside the rest, but unfortunately Kubo could only do so much with time he was given to wrap things up.
As a byakuya fan and indifferent towards both knpachi and Hitsugaya... Wish this actually was Byakuyas big fight for the finale, rather than zaraki and hitsugaya fanservice fest
Till this day we're still to see a way to actually kill Gerard in a combat scenario besides that ceremonial sword (maybe) because as far as we know miracle never had shown any limit which makes sense as Gerard is hearth of the Soul king
I always thought it would have been cool to see Yoruichi use her zanpakuto and reveal it to be some sort of sealing ability similar to the shihoin artifact that sealed away the sokyoku
Since his body was shown to reform around that Quincy cross inside of him, I assume that destroying it would be the way to go about killing him permanently.
Byakuya's my favorite character in the series, so I wasn't bothered at all with him getting so much page time. My only problem is that he did far less in this battle than the others did, and the only new thing he showed us was a new attack in Senkei.
Thillygooth you are probably one of the crybabies who didnt want him to die yall lucky kubo felt sry for yalls dumbasses bc he was going to kill him off til yall bitched an moaned bout it
When I think about how the end of Bleach felt very rushed like Kubo didn’t have enough time to do what he wanted, I remember this fight and how it was 10 times longer than it needed to be
Gerard's internal cross was directly in the line of fire from Kenpachi's bankai lol. It was right in the middle where Kenpachi cut him. So even Kenpachi's bankai couldn't damage the cross at all, despite the rest of the body being cleaved in half. Obviously the idea of the cross being a type of "weak spot" doesn't work in that case lol. It's more like a strong spot that is immune to everything, even stuff that damages Gerard
Now that I think about it randomly, it kinda makes sense what happens to Kenpachi after using Bankai. Remember what White told Ichigo after he was using Bankai vs Byakuya. How his body was creaking from the strain of the spiritual pressure of his Bankai. Both Ichigo and Kenpachi go through the same kind of situation because they both used a good amount of power in their very first time using Bankai, while both acquiring it in such a quick time that they had little to no time to fully master it
Considering things, show Lisa's Bankai alongside Love's; let her get her power to prove her future Captaincy with Shunsui's replacement in the 8th Division. As for next: why not a Soul Society fight, like Uryu vs. Mayuri or the classic Ichigo/Byakuya finale.
Kubo's cast list was so big and iconic that fans expect full potential out of every one of them. Honestly I too wanted proper backstories of these Shutzstaffel cause they are fricking OP as hell but just to get absorbed by Yhwach.
52:47 Actually it's wrong to say this, because we don't know Byakuya's words to Ichigo are that he uses Senkai on those he desires to defeat with his own hands, that's the reason he gives to why all the blades won't attack him at once, in fact at one point we see him use one blade and call another to him, stab that blade on Ichigo's foot and then use Byakurai on his, but he still has his other Blade in hand. Ergo, we don't know if this is new or not, with how it's presented, and having in mind he didn't had his Bankai before the invasion and not mentioning anything about training hard on the time skip, it's possible, this isn't a new ability.
Yeah and he also impaled Renji with multiple senkei blades (5 by my count) during the SS arc. That means that he is not limited to only using 1 senkei blade at a time.
The fact that none of them were defeated by Gerard is terrible writing. It should have ended with Kenpachi throwing one last ultimate attack, destroying Gerard
Your suggestion on how this fight should have gone is very similar to the final Hashira vs Muzan fight in Demon Slayer. Demon slayer did it really well, you feel the despair.
@@lolsnez7542hey only won because Yhwach, for some weird reason decided to just kill his own men. I personally didn't like that. In demon slayer, their efforts eventually gave them the victory. No magic from somewhere else took out Muzan. He fell due to the combined efforts and sacrifices of all the demon slayers, including many known characters who gave their lives away to help take him down. I like Bleach, but there is no comparison. That fight was way better than this one
Rofl! "Sexy Hitsugaya" .... "Bankai! Reign Over The Frosted Heavens Daiguren Hyōrinmaru Sexy Histugaya" ...That actually made me spit my Dr.Pepper out. -_-
What a waste of a battle the shinigami walk away looking weak as fuck only for some bullshit timing to come in and save there ass in the end. Literally if Yuhabach just waited a little longer all three of them would have been killed. The only and I mean the only one to have a major fight in this arc and win was Yhuabach against the royal guards. Like talk shit about naruto all you want at least he had a definitive win against his end game boss even if he needed a lot of help. Like yuha had the almighty and could see every bankai to ever exist and could counter them all only for a fucking arrow to finish him off. Such bullshit
I hope/wish in the anime they change the ending of this fight, such that they do manage to get a critical strike on Gerard’s giant Quincy cross, Gerard lays on the ground injured, the captains surround him, looking down on his battered and now shrunken body, and THEN Yhwach activates the final Auswahlen. It wouldn’t affect the end result, but would give the captains a satisfying and well deserved win, while still delivering on all of the fan service and craziness.
That’s just his volt-standing activation so there’s not really a way they can kill him except maybe completely destroying his body. But I think all the last main fights needs an ending change especially yhwach
I'm not really a big fan of this fight. As you said there's a big issue of it just going on too long with no real ending. But beyond that I had trouble getting invested because Gerard's a really uninteresting character too me, and I honestly took issue with the captain's plan for dealing with him. Byakuya in my opinion honestly adds... almost nothing, and funnily enough only serves to power Gerard up by pilling on more damage. The worst part to me is that I feel like they could've still found a way to beat Gerard by just not killing him & rather going for an incapacitation by having Toshiro's freezing be the final move. Gerard may well be immortal unless under very specific conditions, but there's nothing to say that "sealing" him wouldn't work.
I find the idea of a mere captain being able to seal Gerard away to be kinda irksome. Especially since even Ichibei cannot seal away power that comes from the soul king in CFYOW.
@@ryuzakikurai711 We know for sure that Kenpachi is stronger than Ichibei by CFYOW which is only 6 months later, and you can argue Toshiro and Byakuya are too based on them being sent on a mission to help Ichigo with a threat he couldn’t take on alone. So you could say the combined might of these 3 in the TYBW is relative to Ichibei by himself. It’s hesdcanon but 6 months isn’t a long time so it’s possible they, or at least Kenpachi, didn’t get that much stronger and was just a monster even in the TYBW
A fight so good that Toshiro was there twice. I kid, but honestly I didn't think there would be a fight that would disappoint me more than 0 Division vs the Schutzstaffel, or maybe even Uryuu vs Haschwalth... But this fight was just so bland and uninteresting even though we literally got the coolest reveals for fan favorite Captains in this fight like Toshiro finally using his full Bankai and power and Kenpachi going Bankai. So much missed potential here I feel since there were almost no stakes here at all.
Feel like there needed to be a caveat to his ability. Like each time he revives stronger but with some weakness at the same time. Could have gone with him getting so big that he couldn't fit within the world and spent eternity with his top half frozen in space. Would be amusing at least. Perhaps each time he revives with less life force / durability than before but more speed/power. You could even use rukia and renjis bankai at the end to completely disintegrate his body so literally nothing is left, like a more menacing cell from dbz type encounter. Honestly though I like the quincy cross idea at the core, and if they'd had zaraki wake up to deliver the final blow on the cross that'd be a wicked way of getting them to win together.
It was a real battle of the OP gods. So much so that it ground down and became rather generic. Still seeing the Captains go up against an opponent who has a fragment of the Spirit King and resultant power was something. Toshiro going all out was badass and suitable for his status. And Kenpachi was just Kenpachi.
I think had the fight after Gerard got split in half been about the captains struggle to split Gerard in half again in order to get another opening at the cross and ended the fight by destroying it, it would have been better
I agreed . This is actually what I thought when I read it . Have kenpachi cut him in half again . Have hitsugaya freeze and desactivate the cross and tada
@@marionarda2790 The cross isn’t the source of Gerard’s power, it’s just what Quincy use to channel and focus their power. So he wouldn’t be able to make arrows or use Vollstandig if they destroyed the cross but he’d still have the Miracle and his stats
1. Gerard is so cheap. 2. Zaraki's powers are boring (not worth killing off Unohana) 3. Hitsugaya's bankai always fail to kill a formidable foe 4. Byakuya didn't get much power upgrades. This is easily the worst plot in the TYBW arc. The only redeeming quality is how badass Yhwach is in part 2 because of his almighty killing his best Sternritters.
Nah completely disagreement. Zaraki power are amazing and perfectly in character. Hitsugaya not killing a major villain doesn't really matter Byakuya is massive more powerful here. He just doesn't have many more flashy new abilities. Doesn't mean he didn't get a power upgrade
I'm honestly glad Kubo did not use the cross as a solution. I see that trope used so frequently to kill off their immortal characters by pursuing a weak point, they can take advantage of. It really takes away the fact that these characters are meant to be unbeatable. In Gerard's case, he embodied his role perfectly. And I actually liked how they had to kill God in order to take care of Gerard. They could not kill the puppet, so they go for the creator, it makes sense to me, and I really really liked this fight cause of Gerard.
They didn't kill God (Yhwach)to take down Gerard. God just casually decided to kill Gerard and all his men for no good reason. He killed Gerard and died later. Killing Yhwach did not kill Gerard. He died long after Gerard. And Gerard only died because Yhwach decided to kill him. If Yhwach wasn't so dumb, all these characters would have died
Gerard is the heart of the soul king separated from the soul kings body and taken human form. It makes sense that he’s an unstoppable force, a heart is like the body’s power source and Gerard is the power source of a god Given that the soul king is the most powerful being in existence it makes sense that his heart would seem essentially unstoppable to captain level powers. I just wish kubo spent more time exploring why body parts of the soul king have allied with ywach and try to kill the soul king who they are part of
heres my rewrite, once byakuya tells renji and rukia to leave, he turns to gerard and fights himself since toshiro and kenny are at their limit and to showcase his new obtained power from training in the royale palace, holding him off until he get absorbed by yhwach or untill byakuya is able to destroy the quincy cross. that way it will add more to the fight and we can see actually how strong byakuya is.
This may well be a popular opinion in the Bleach fandom, I wouldn't really know as I'm only just getting back into it after a long while away (read all of the manga when it was coming out but re-visiting it and catching up with the TYBW anime), I feel like the weird Zaraki-toe-poke was the easiest thing for Kubo to make sense of. Instead of having Zaraki's arm go pop, just have him *actually* get thrown off. Vanish him, still in Bankai. Then, you can have Hitsugaya's moment, and when he gets captured Gerard still falls. The only difference is that instead of him being poked over, Zaraki has - with his insane strength that we've already seen - managed to *jump* from Seireitei back up to the walkway (something that could be shown in a few panels) and has used his Bankai to literally cut Gerard's legs out from underneath him. Gerard looks back and, instead of seeing Zaraki poking his toe, he sees demon Zaraki stood next to his own two feet, both still firmly planted on the ground, the gold light already regenerating his feet for him. That doesn't fix any of the other issues with this fight, but that one part is really irritating me because it seems both fixable (wouldn't extend the fight dramatically) *and* makes use of the huge Falling Off theme that keeps coming up in this fight.
Why is Hitsuguaya a favorite? Why? He loses almost every single fight he has ever had, he pulls out his Bankai at every opportunity, he always gets either outwitted or just plain out matched.
@@sabener6255 that Butterfinger whatever guy he wasn't even at full power if he had his full power he would have been a statue bro got lucky he managed to beat him

I bet Mayuri's de-zombification spreads evenly over the cells and gives them just enough energy to continue operating but takes time to eradicate it. So since Hitsugaya has expended massive volumes of energy and is too weak to stand, a little bit of the zombification has returned
I think Gerad is a great char, and i think his last form was to show us that he actually is unbeatable! If Y dudnt strip him of his power, he would never have lost. I think thats pretty cool

Wouldve been cool to see a backstory for gerard where hes the heart kept in a test tube til a gigai like body is made for him. The heart gave it life and prevents it from being killed as he has to be the hero for the quincies
My 3rd comment here lol but the rewrite you came up with reminds me so much of the Boro fight from Boruto. An enemy that has instantly regenerates, multiple characters teaming up against him, discovering he has a core that they need to destroy to stop his regeneration.

You think when Jerald saw all the swords he had a PTSD moment from his earlier first hit in the beginning
I would really like to see how you would rewrite Uryu Vs Haschwalth’s fight! Jugo was my fav Quincy and his final fight really disappointed me…
I’ve said this a lot, but i think soifon could’ve been great in this fight, especially cuz she barely got slmething to do. Her bankai could’ve been amazing for destroying the cross, finally landing a ‘one hit kill’ on gerard. Would’ve been awesome
When are the Schutzstaffel Character Analysis Videos coming 😭
if that all three did a combo to destroy that Quincy cross, it wouldve been cool is hitsugya froze Gerard while his mouth was open, byakuya uses zenbonsakura down his throat and destroys the cross from the inside, and kenpachi shatters the whole body
52:33 wasn't the move he only did 2 times before the one where he has that circle of light around or behind him and wings and runs at Ichigo with a sword ?
It's a star not a cross that was in Gerard
As bonkers as this fight was, it feels like the final boss that Yammy was supposed to be.
I mean, Yammy reveals himself to be the “actual” strongest Espada when his number becomes zero, only to be memed off-screen by two already fatigued captains.
Then there’s Gerard, who literally can’t die unless his own boss pulls his plug(good thing he did just that lol).

Gerard was such a god damn beast that it literally took, ironically, a miracle to "defeat"

Shinji would have to lead him away first, or his Bankai would make everyone kill each other.
This is actually clever haha. I think if the other captains are sufficiently incapacitated, Shinji's bankai wouldn't affect them.

To quote Aizen: "it's hard to step on ants without crushing them."
I never got that impression at all.
@Corrupt Angel
Except the other dude is still not wrong.
😂😂
Well I have a feelin Kenpachis bankai is similar to gerard
the more you hit him or the more he hits you the stronger he gets, that is why i think he just crossed his threshold and could not contain his power
no imagine if he learns about this and starts to strengthen his body , imagine how strong he would get
@IBRAHIM SURTI maybe, but I doubt it.
How would they have won? Wont he keep getting stronger
I mean that's the point of his ability constant manifestation of miracles. If it's only happen once than it's not an ability or power.
Well now there is an actual way to kill him. When Kenpachi split him in half a cross popped up. If that is destroyed then gerad will die permanently

I think Gerard was leading them on that he was going to do something before Byakuya killed him at the beginning. He’s a trap with arms and legs because his power doesn’t enlarge him until he is killed.
That’s an interesting point and also goes to show how cunning Gerard can be in battle

Hope this becomes a canonical explanation to his power via a flashback in the anime.

I will say this, Kenpachi going into Bankai, doesn't seem like a devil to me, much more of a Oni.
I remember face-palming a few times while reading this part back in high school. It’s like a bunch of kids making sh*t up as they go.
Exactly
@@bqw2094 not exactly
I mean if thats what you take of it because you dont understand it of course not smart kids would facepalm
I wonder if Isshin will join this fight once the anime gets to it.
The way the last several chapters were so heavily rushed I feel like Isshin and Ryuken were definitely supposed to do more than just give Uryu the arrowhead.
This fights kinda ironic. It actually TAKES a Miracle to TAKE OUT “The Miracle”!
This is the fight I'm the most hyped for, Gerard is my favourite Sternritter and I hope this fight gets extended so so much
I for sure thought that the Quincy cross inside of Gerard was going to play a huge role in the battle overall because it was shown as a sort of Chekhov's gun.
The snow part is the single best part Ive heard
Just make Shinji turn Gerard against Yhwach and give Yhwach a valid reason to kill off his strongest soldier, there you go
@@ryuzakikurai711 I really like that idea.
Pernida died though
I love the fact that the strongest soldier in the Christian Nazi's army is an enslaved viking
It wont and it wasnt ridiculuous
Byakuya's my favorite character in the series, so I wasn't bothered at all with him getting so much page time. My only problem is that he did far less in this battle than the others did, and the only new thing he showed us was a new attack in Senkei.
I really hope we see other new things from him in the anime, he is my fav char too
@@josuemarte23 no you wont see anything else from him bc its only going to be ichigo an uyru in the soul palace taking down ywach
Thillygooth you are probably one of the crybabies who didnt want him to die yall lucky kubo felt sry for yalls dumbasses bc he was going to kill him off til yall bitched an moaned bout it
@@chadmabe7069 Somebody's Big Mad, lmfao. Show us on the doll where Byakuya touched you.
"How would gerard get back up?" (If he fell to the seireitei")
Well it certainly would be a MIRACLE wouldn't it?
No here was way better
Facts 💯💯
@@lolsnez7542hey only won because Yhwach, for some weird reason decided to just kill his own men. I personally didn't like that.
In demon slayer, their efforts eventually gave them the victory. No magic from somewhere else took out Muzan. He fell due to the combined efforts and sacrifices of all the demon slayers, including many known characters who gave their lives away to help take him down.
I like Bleach, but there is no comparison. That fight was way better than this one
Not true about senkei. In renjis fight with byakuya he says he could use them all to end him. Even in ichigos battle he uses alot
"three captains, byakuya hitsugaya and toshiro" wut
I think even Kubo hated how that last phase of the story went, so when they get to cour 4 there's definitely going to be quite a bit of revision.
Toshiro’s plan from the beginning was to freeze Gerard to the bone
2:17
ah yes, Byakuya, Hitsugaya, and Toshiro
thought i was the only one to notice
It was a real battle of the OP gods. So much so that it ground down and became rather generic. Still seeing the Captains go up against an opponent who has a fragment of the Spirit King and resultant power was something. Toshiro going all out was badass and suitable for his status. And Kenpachi was just Kenpachi.
Gerard became one of my favorite characters of All time cuz of this fight tbh
Byakuya may have been in a comfort zone after already killing Gerard once that he isn’t being urgent.
Yes been waiting for this one I know it's not the most popular fight but it's one of my absolute faves cus i love Gerards character
Gerard’s “sandals” only look like sandals because his feet got too big for his boots…
Lmaoo he called Momo a Well known tank😂
I did not know alot of people had problems with this fight. Always been my personal fav in the whole manga.
Probably because it took to long and Gerad was literally unkillable
It was repetitive and poorly written imo
The goal is to survive at this point, Gerard will decimate them if they don’t fight back hard.
Uryu vs Hashwalt must be re-written for the anime !
1. Gerard is so cheap.
2. Zaraki's powers are boring (not worth killing off Unohana)
3. Hitsugaya's bankai always fail to kill a formidable foe
Hitsugaya not killing a major villain doesn't really matter
Byakuya is massive more powerful here. He just doesn't have many more flashy new abilities. Doesn't mean he didn't get a power upgrade
@@justnojustn3036 thats your op kiddo!
@@AmirChemE yeah and he is right you in the other hand are wrong kiddo
It makes sense that he’s an unstoppable force, a heart is like the body’s power source and Gerard is the power source
of a god
Given that the soul king is the most powerful being in existence it makes sense that his heart would seem essentially unstoppable to captain level powers.
It started off with Byakuya
destroying his head and ended the same way.
Why is Hitsuguaya a favorite? Why? He loses almost every single fight he has ever had, he pulls out his Bankai at every opportunity, he always gets either outwitted or just plain out matched.
I don't know where you get this he lost a whole bunch of times but watching the series again he doesn't lose or barely lose
He loose 3 fights aizen 2 times one time bazz b.

I bet Mayuri's de-zombification spreads evenly over the cells and gives them just enough energy to continue operating but takes time to eradicate it. So since Hitsugaya has expended massive volumes of energy and is too weak to stand, a little bit of the zombification has returned
They finna get Chris Hemsworth To Voice him in the dub💀

I think Gerad is a great char, and i think his last form was to show us that he actually is unbeatable! If Y dudnt strip him of his power, he would never have lost. I think thats pretty cool
considering this was just a shitfest spectacle, Soi Fon and Shinji should've been left in

juha bach or yah vak is still better than the pronunciation the anime gave him with juha baha. The hell kind of villain name is that bro? lmfao
still love bleach tho
The reason Yhwach is pronounced "yuha baha" is because there is no kanji for "bah" in japanese, so the closest one is ba ha.
Wouldve been cool to see a backstory for gerard where hes the heart kept in a test tube til a gigai like body is made for him. The heart gave it life and prevents it from being killed as he has to be the hero for the quincies
Dig this
3 captains? Hitsugaya and toshiro???? Thats the same person
My 3rd comment here lol but the rewrite you came up with reminds me so much of the Boro fight from Boruto. An enemy that has instantly regenerates, multiple characters teaming up against him, discovering he has a core that they need to destroy to stop his regeneration.
Momo is the real miracle. She cannot be killed no matter how many times aizen tried.
