Thank you for sharing the location of the barn. Eddie Albert was a good friend of mine. I would often visit him at his home in Pacific Palisades. Do you remember the fictional town Pixley? I'm sure you are aware of the little town Pixley in central California. The water Tower scene on Green Acres still stands in that little town. A gentleman who lives there told me this just yesterday. I live a few miles away from Pixley.
I had enter Eddie Albert’s home in PP and didn’t realize it was him. Hearing his voice from a distance I took a second look. I was there when his wife was ill.
Great research! I live in Alabama and I’ve visited the grave of Mr. Heany (Pat Buttram) a couple of times. His grave is near Haleyville, AL in the little church cemetery where his dad pastored.
Hello, I live in Bessemer. When I was in the Marines out in California I visited Holly Wood some. Wish now I would have took the time and visited more places. I loved Green Acres as a kid, and Mr. Haney was my favorite character. Pat Buttram played him BRILLIANTLY! I've always tried to imitate his hilariously distinctive cracking voice, but I've never been able to do it.
You have really out done yourself in researching for this video. The fact that you found the location of the barn is simply amazing. You have a wonderful attention to detail.
I have always wondered what happened to those iconic Green Acres places. So I greatly appreciate all the time, research and hard work that you put into this video.
I used Historic Aerials and figured out the barn was located at 34.19310° N, 118.81475° W which puts it in the front yard of the house on the southeast corner of Bluebell Place and Fairmount.
That would be 1610 Bluebell Place, Westlake Village, CA 91362. It's a $3.049 million house, built in 1983, 4 bd, 4.5 ba, 5,252 sq ft. And a pool. It's a nice place, too, all found on Zillow and not currently for sale. If you're the lucky owner, a family trust member of the late Mr. Buccola, expect a flood of QSL-like cards coming your way, seeking verification of something completely out of the blue. But from all of this readers can deduce that the barn was probably torn down in the early 1980s when the land developer was prepping the land for subdivision construction.
I'd love to know where the house is in the opening credits of Green Acres. I swear, it seems like it's in rurual Indiana, or somewhere. Keep us posted, please, Stanley. This was a great video about tthe Green Acres barn. In addition to sleuthing its location, you also mentioned the individual who painted its iconic roof. PS I'd love to see some pictures of the actual sets of Green Acres that filmed on a soundstage. It is always facinating when a photographer pulls back his or her camera to show images of the actual sets.
I am a native of Thousand Oaks born in 1956. I grew up in "Old Town" Thousand Oaks. My Dad and I worked for American Hawaiian Land Company. I have dozens of photos and 8mm movies from the early days. I knew Ed Lawrence. Now for the pearl... My Uncle was the Ranch Foreman and overseer of the Albertson Ranch. He is in the barn photos. I played in that barn and have 1966 color photos. My Uncle and Cousin were both real cowboys and that was my Uncles cattle all of which were used by Hollywood for all the westerns. The big Scottish Highlanders seen on Gunsmoke and Dirty Sally were my Uncles bulls. The little building seen to the right of the barn was actually a mobile home my Uncle lived in temporarily until they relocated to Red Bluff, CA. The Barn and Stable area was called Glenmore Stables. Owned by my Uncle and his second wife. His name was Jack Braden and his wife Sandy (still alive) expanded their business in Oregon. Much of that area burned down in 1970 in what was one of the worst brush fire seasons in modern history. We watched them film so many movies it would take me pages to write it all down. Elvis' movie "Roustabout" was filmed on the Alberston Ranch right down the lane from the ranch house that my Uncle Jack lived in on the south side of the ranch. You can see his house in that large Westlake Village overlook by Ed Lawrence. My family has an original 16x20 of that same photo that was given to my Dad in the early 70's. Thousand Oaks was magical in the 50's-60's. The rapid growth beginning in 1966 destroyed an otherwise country Shangri-la. My Great Grandpa would be shocked by how much the area changed since he arrived here in 1904.
Wow! This is fascinating. Thanks so much for sharing your history. It was such a great place to grow up. I remember playing on an old ranch with a barn which is now in the Oakbrook area. The 23 freeway took over it all. There were grain carts and tracks still there. @@realnikonlover6207
Absolute amazing video! You put lots of work and effort into putting all of this together! Green Acres was my absolute favorite television show. I remember when it first debuted, it was the first season for color broadcasting on CBS. I’m sure most of the original sets and props have been destroyed long ago since they occupied sound stages. A lot of the “exterior” shots were actually miniatures. Lots of clever camera work in those days. Thanks for a wonderful job and look forward to some more of your content!
Oh interesting, I did find an article about the miniatures and that Max Thornton also painted the miniature homes but I wasn’t quite sure where they were used. Interesting insights. Thanks for the kind words!

I met a few of the neighbors, they were really nice. I told them about the barn location, they thought it was interesting but didn’t seem as into it as I was haha
I was a little kid in the sixties and green acres was one of my favorite programs, that and It's about time, does anybody else remember it's about time? The trilogy was, green acres petticoat junction and the Beverly Hillbillies which all centered around Hooterville, that pilot episode of the Beverly Hillbillies where Jed finds out that he has Texas tea on his land is great.
@StanleyFoss That would be cool! There was also a 2-story white house that was in the opening credits too, I'm pretty sure. I remember it was in an episode when Oliver and Lisa were thinking of buying another place (early on before they renovated). Oh goodness, that made me think of the builders on that show - the brother and sister and she had a guy's name, Ralph, and she was sweet on Hank Kimball!
Thank you so much for this stroll down memory lane. You are quite the detective and I love your positive vibes! Great job..Peter Falk would be proud. 😃
Very interesting and time consuming investigation to locate this barn. I loved watching reruns of Green Acres as a child and to find the location of the barn was in Southern CA was unexpected. Side note that it is sad the Albertson Ranch with the buildings, cattle and cowboys is gone for another McMansion neighborhood. It was so open and beautiful.
Thanks to MeTV, I watch an episode each weekday at 8:30pm. Loved the show as a child and still love it to this day. Thanks for this video, you've done a ton of work bringing it to us.
This video is so interesting to me. I grew up in a small Midwestern town in the 60's. We had every kind of business, schools and churches. There were 13 schools in the county. Now almost nothing is left. Only 2 schools in the county. Home prices have gone down every year. It's sad to see. I had a three bedroom home on 3.5 acres with lakefront. I sold it for $30k before it lost any more value. The "development" shown in your video is shocking !
“Green Acres” was one of my favorites as a child back in the 60’s. Just a very funny show with great talented actors. Thank you for your hard work doing all of the research! You did a fantastic job!
The batcave is located Bronson Caves in the Hollywood Hills. Pretty close to Beechwood Canyon, the original Hollywoodland development and the Hollywood sign. If you’re in LA definitely go see it. Take Bronson Ave off of Hollywood Boulevard
This is top-rate investigative work. Would have been nice for the developer to have saved the barn as a Hollywood memorial. Green Acres is still one of my fav shows. Thanks for doing this. Now everyone will always know where the iconic Green Acres Barn stood.
I love this kind of stuff. I’m a rail fan and seeing the photos of the studio set of the Cannonball was great. Been looking for that for a long time. Thanks for your research.
Oh my goodness! I loved this show! I was born in 1968 and grew up watching this show. Honestly this video makes me sad. I miss the land and rolling hills and seeing people working the land. To see all these houses and developments constructed in such a short period of time makes me truly sad. What will the US look like in another 30 or 40 years???? But, you’ve clearly done extensive research. Great job.
I live in an area that was all orange groves in the 1960s, and all single family homes by the 1980s. Now there is no land left for more single-family homes, but the City Council still wants more income, so they are putting up 4 and 6 story featureless "people storage" buildings with no parking, then turning all the surrounding roads into 1.5 lane wide paths with diagonal parking on both sides to make up for the lack of parking the developers would have had to pay for. They can get over 200 families in two acres now. With "local businesses" consisting of one smoke shop/weed parlor and a hair dressing place. But no place to buy food. What California is going to look like in 40 years is 400 square miles of the Chicago Projects.
Well done. My son, who is 15, and I watch Gunsmoke every night together. Not long ago he remarked that “I bet all that land is covered with houses and stuff now…”. Progress isn’t always progress. I would love to see some of the old Gunsmoke, Adam 12, Dragnet, and Perry Mason filming locations. I think Perry was filmed at Revue studios? The LA area seemed like such a cool place to us East Coasters during the 50’s and 60’s.

I was impressed when I looked up Eddie Albert a few years ago. Mr. Albert's WWII service record as others in Hollywood at that time, showed they loved their country. A lot in Hollywood don't seem to be grateful for it and it is a shame.
Stanley, before I forget, I'd like to mention another aspect of your work. As we all know the USA is a country very much plugged into our TV and movie culture, I think more so than any other nation. As such, film and television set locations have become somewhat hallowed grounds. I recall the fan outrage at the Warner Brothers Ranch in Burbank when the houses that were used on shows like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Gidget, The Partridge Family, The Waltons, and others were demolished to make room for office buildings. In addition to the entertainment value of videos such as yours, there is a historical/ontological value that each viewer walks away with everytime they watch one of your presentations. Please keep up the good work.
Yes that was so upsetting when the Warner bros ranch was bulldozed. I wish I could have seen that. I got a few glimpses once when I went to see the show Friends filmed and they took us through a back entrance of the Warner Ranch. Now with AI video, was bulldozing that even worth it? How many jobs will be lost in the near future because of AI?? We’ll see. Thanks for the comment!
That's flat out amazing that you figured out the location of that barn. Nice work! Side note-In my misspent youth in the 80s, we got on the roof of an abandoned farm house and peeled off shingles til it read 'Green Acres'. Wrong? Probably. Hilarious? Oh, yeah.
I really appreciate the time and research that you put into this. All of the shows that you mentioned were a really big part of my childhood, thanks so much!
Great detective work! That land was almost unrecognizable from 58 years ago. It appears from county land records that the barn was probably torn down in the early 1980s (or even late 1970s), when the house lots were being prepared. The house on the barn site was built in 1983, meaning construction was in the 1981-82 era. From 2023 aerial photos, there are no large trees around the houses on Bluebell Place, meaning the three identifying trees around the barn were unfortunately cut down, but about 150 feet south on adjoining property back yards there is a very large tree bracketed by two pools. It could be a survivor of that time.
LOL! Love it! My late Husband and I grew up on this show and loved watching it! He always wisecracked that he had seen these places in rural Missouri when we drove out to visit my Brother!

Thank you for all your research I've wondered where that Barn was for a long time, now that you have given me street names I was able to find it on a historical aerial that gives modern Road overlays.
Great analysis. The US army performed oblique Ortho photos of the entire West Coast between 1935-1937 and again in the 1940's or 1950's. Those photos pop up from time to time either through USGS, Army Corps of Engineers, university's archives, historical society or public library archives. These aerial photos are invaluable at times.

So cool you got to meet Eb! Such a shame that the main cast are all gone now.
My brother and I used to perk up our ears and suddenly exclaim, "Ope! Here comes the fife and drums"
And then wait a couple of seconds for them to kick in.
Wow! That was 1985-86....Nick at Night...The Monkees, Dobie Gillis, Green Acres,...
And on Saturday nights after all that @ 11pm it was "The Hot Seat" w/Wally George, (look it up 🤠)...
...went well with late night Taco Bell.
Oh that’s so cool that you were friends with Eddie Albert! Yes, I’ve been meaning to check out Pixley. One of these days I’ll get over there 👍🏻
Wasn’t Pixley in Petticoat Junction?
@@davidlium9338 I think it was part of the sprawling Pixley-Hooterville-Bugtussle metroplex.
That's really interesting to know !!!
Oh that would be cool to visit.
Hello, I live in Bessemer. When I was in the Marines out in California I visited Holly Wood some. Wish now I would have took the time and visited more places. I have two children that where born out there. Me and My now ex wife moved back to Alabama in 93. I them became a police officer. I'm retired now.
Hayleyville AL? That's cool. My father was born there. Now I have a connection! Thanks.
I loved Green Acres as a kid, and Mr. Haney was my favorite character. Pat Buttram played him BRILLIANTLY! I've always tried to imitate his hilariously distinctive cracking voice, but I've never been able to do it.
I actually didn't realize that the actor who played Mr. Heany was from Alabama
You have really out done yourself in researching for this video. The fact that you found the location of the barn is simply amazing. You have a wonderful attention to detail.
I get a little obsessed 😂
@@StanleyFoss And we thank you for your obsession.
Back when sitcoms were fun and enjoyable. Thank you for sharing
I have always wondered what happened to those iconic Green Acres places. So I greatly appreciate all the time, research and hard work that you put into this video.
This stuff fascinates me.....I love THEN and NOW photos.
I did the same research. I think yours only few yards off than mine. Good work!
@@k.r.baylor8825 I wonder how many people was”QSL” means? 73’s
HistoricAerials has a 1967 image of the barn location. The Green Acres words do not appear visible. It is a low resolution photo.
I just did the same thing - used Historic Aerials.
Grew up in T.O. Moved there in 1959 and remember all the ranches well. Nice flashback.
I wish I could have seen all the open land and ranches back then!
I wish you could have too. It was an awesome place to grow up! On the bright side tho, you're still young :)@@StanleyFoss
It looks like such a pretty area. I must drive up there from LA next time I go there (from Vancouver Canada).
Pretty special talent should be a private investigator, Excellent work !
@@StanleyFoss Thanks for your response! Not to send you on a wild goose chase but I hear that the train is still in existence. It would be interesting to see if Drucker’s store is still standing.
Wow, I grew up with that show and appreciate all the effort you put into all of this great show history.
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it
Thank you for this amazing video. I really enjoyed it. It's pretty incredible how you were able to piece all of the information together to find the location.
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
What an amazing find. I used to watch Green Acres every week.😊
That house where the barn was should put a sign out front telling about it.

This was so interesting! I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. You did an excellent job!

Thank you! … now I gotta find that other white house in the intro 😅
I shared it to Facebook and with my brother that lives in 1000 Oaks. He loved it too and subscribed to your channel!
@@StanleyFoss
@StanleyFoss That would be cool! There was also a 2-story white house that was in the opening credits too, I'm pretty sure. I remember it was in an episode when Oliver and Lisa were thinking of buying another place (early on before they renovated). Oh goodness, that made me think of the builders on that show - the brother and sister and she had a guy's name, Ralph, and she was sweet on Hank Kimball!
Great work! One of my favorite shows of all time (I'm 67 now). Thanks so much for persevering and sharing your research!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for this stroll down memory lane. You are quite the detective and I love your positive vibes! Great job..Peter Falk would be proud. 😃
Thanks so much! Glad you found it enjoyable
I’ll have to look for it on MeTV 👍🏻
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
You did a fantastic job on figuring out the location of that barn.
Thank you. "Green Acres" is one of my childhood memories of watching TV before it became a horrid wasteland. I still it on PlutoTV. Good video, sir!
Impressive sleuth work.
Finding Bruce Wayne's secret bat cave entrance would be the CAT's meow (i.e. cat woman).
I love that picture also!
Great job.
Yeah in 40 more years who knows what it will look like?? I miss the look of the open land also! Thanks for watching!
How fun is this!!😳😊 Coolness😊😎
I was just watching Adam 12 the other day, lots of locations to re-examine in each episode!
@@StanleyFossI remember they used to film combat scenes for some 1960s combat TV show (maybe Combat? I forget now) just down the street from where I lived every couple of weeks. That was in an old abandoned winery in what used to be Cucamonga.
Just read that Gunsmoke got Gilligan's Island cancelled. GI only ran for 3 yrs.

We watch really old western movies in the 1940's and 50's .
More specifically, it's 1610 Bluebell. You can clearly see the barn in 1967 Historical Aerials view and when you flip to present day, it's 1610 Bluebell.
Yes, since posting this I’ve learned about all the historical aerial sites online. I can’t believe how close I got with that one aerial I had and overlaying google earth.
Fantastic research. Nice job.
I'm glad that people your age is still into the wonderful programs of the 60s I was born in 73 thanks to my dad and uncle I fell in love with all these wonderful shows Green Acres, Leave it to Beaver, Beverley Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, Mr. Ed was one of my favorites as a little kid. I used to get up extra early on Saturday mornings just to watch it before cartoons.
I used to love getting up early to watch Saturday morning cartoons. It’s something that in the age of streaming, the newer generations have no idea about.

Wow! This is great!! I have SO many thoughts! I live in Westlake now and never knew any of this! I grew up watching re-runs of Green Acres (I was born in Fall of '65) where I lived in Agoura! AND my Dad was in the business (property master - did not work on this but worked on many others including a couple Elvis Presley movies). And, lastly, there is a street here in Westlake called "Russell Ranch Road!"
Oh that is so cool that your dad worked on some films! Yeah so much interesting history all over that area. Westlake was a great place to visit!
Do you have any Elvis stuff, justmejk?
Very cool!! I watched Green Acres as a kid. There is a town in the California Central Valley, that is called Pixley. This is in Tulare County. For years, I thought that is where Green Acres must be, somewhere cloes to Pixley, since Pixley was always mentioned in the series.
Yes, I need to check out Pixley sometime and see if I get an Green Acres vibes
There's also a "Green Acres" out near Hemet, CA and also one near Bakersfield (but spelled slightly different)
Just discovered your channel and the videos on Green Acres. Awesome job! I grew up watching The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres when they were initially broadcast. It's great to be able to see the locations that bring back such warm childhood memories. Thank you! Can't wait to see what you do next.
Hi, thank you! Glad you discovered my channel. I’ve done videos on older shows and movies and some newer shows/movies. I should have a new video up soon, after I get around some copywriter issues lol. 😅
Congratulations on your great detective work! You've helped connect the dots in my childhood memory!
I was impressed when I looked up Eddie Albert a few years ago. Mr. Albert's WWII service record as others in Hollywood at that time, showed they loved their country. A lot in Hollywood don't seem to be grateful for it and it is a shame.
That generation really got involved! They put their life on the line.
Most actors today have no patriotism.
Great sleuthing. I was enthralled. My jaw dropped when I saw the comparison between the 60s and now, in that beautiful valley. Urban sprawl indeed.
Nicely done. As an original fan of Green Acres and all the other shows from the 60s, I really enjoyed this.
Wrong? Probably. Hilarious? Oh, yeah.
Haha, that’s a great memory!
Cool!
I really appreciate the time and research that you put into this. All of the shows that you mentioned were a really big part of my childhood, thanks so much!
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
So Green Acres eventually became the opposite of everything the TV show was based on .... moving far away from the luxury of urban life
Great detective work!
Great info! Thanks for that. Also good to know that I don’t have to go back and look for those trees 👍🏻
California is so beautiful. It is such a shame that the politics and policies of the state are destroying it.

Good to know, I’ll have to utilize those sites for future videos. 👍🏻
