I was born in santa cruz and i feel so lucky to have this as town history. Throughout the year the boardwalk projects the movie onto an inflatable screen on the beach and its so cool to see how every generation of people from santa cruz still appreciate this movie and sometimes the actors will show up too!
I was just at the Boardwalk lastnight, and they have a large Welcome to Santa Carla sign for photo-ops. So cool to see them embrace their Lost Boys history.
The amount of detail and historical asides you put into your videos really stands out, and is very appreciated. Between all that and your sense of humor, I just absolutely love your work, Stanley!
Thank you! I like to try to find the historical aspect or what the location was really used for. Appreciate the views and the comments! Thanks 😊
I thought I knew all about the Lost Boys, but this video revealed some new stuff about my home town! Nice work!
Thanks! Glad to hear you liked it. I got a little obsessed with the quick 1 second locations lol
You did a great job with all those details. Noah and i enjoyed watching that.
Cool, glad you both liked it 😊
For years, we lived really close to the bridge in Santa Clarita.
I’ve run across that bridge countless times & didn’t know until a few years ago it was in Lost Boys
They have really kept it looking nice, its a well maintained bridge and piece of movie history :)
Great video. I was there in 2003 from England and I pulled up in the car park and noticed instantly it was from the lost boys.
Where that low life thief was!
The best random stop I ever did!
I just wish I had a digital camera in them days but I took a few pictures with the old type cameras.
I went on the wooden roller coaster and I even took a picture of me pretending to be hanging from the bridge thinking it was the one :)
I just wish I could go back there now and to see everything you showed in your video or to even live there.
The stairs where the motorbikes go down, has the sand risen that much over the years?
Hi, thanks for the comment! It sounds like you had a great trip there in 2003. You captured it all on film 👍🏻
Yes, I believe the sand has been pushed up all that way. Lots of storms over the years and sometime you’ll see heavy machinery pushing the sand around after a storm.
@@StanleyFoss Yeh it was fun as I was staying at my uncles place in Santa Monica and I did that 101 route for a mini trip coming back from seeing Bruce lees Grave in Seattle.
I only took some photos but I do wish I had video footage of it like my universal studios tram ride I did.
I missed so much in Santa Cruz, 101 coast as I needed to continue to Santa Monica for the free night of sleep as I was a backpacker on a budget.
All of them places I could of seen if I just stayed a night or 2 :(
That’s mental that sand has risen that high now, so all of them steps are now under that sand.
That funny looking guy was on the chair lift when I went and it did look like the same one from the movie.
Good video! Best one I have seen
Had to pause at 18 minutes in to say this is the best Lost Boys location video so far! Great work and thank you :)
Living in the UK I doubt I will ever get to go here in person so it's great to watch
Thank you! I really enjoyed looking for the quick little one-second locations. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi Stanley Foss. I was born in Watsonville ca. I love your video of the Lost boys movie and filming locations. My dad took me to the boardwalk yesterday and I rode the Looff carousel to ride the carousel horse from the Lost boys movie. Thank you for the video and the location of the carousel horse from the Lost boys movie.
Hi there fellow Watsonville native :)
Thanks so much! So cool that you got to ride the horse from movie. I was there a couple weeks ago and my fingers were so black from grabbing the rings on the carousel. 🫣
Classic movie. Visited alot of these locations a few years ago when visiting Santa Cruz. Did the walk to the Pogonip Clubhouse. Cool seeing the locations and re-watching the movie. You did a great job covering filming locations!
Thanks! I’m glad you got to visit Santa Cruz and a bunch of locations. I really wanted to document the minor, quick b-roll locations before they change beyond recognition.
Thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed your Lost Boys filming locations video. I also grew up in Santa Cruz County and used to work at the Boardwalk back in the 1980s. I watched them film Lost Boys, Sudden Impact, The Sting II and Us at the Boardwalk. I also saw filming of Killer Klowns from Outer Space in downtown Santa Cruz, Chasing Mavericks around town and The Tripper in Boulder Creek. My daughter was an extra on Devs filmed up at UCSC. Looking forward to more great and detailed filming location videos.
Oh cool, you saw it all first-hand, that is awesome! Glad you found my channel, thanks!
WoW Sick bro! was a kid when I watched this... Still my fav Vamp movie. Rip Corey Haim
Yes it totally hold up well after all these years!
Stanley, the production quality and research is truly amazing here! Also-tomorrow is the day, my partner and I fly out to Palm Springs! Thank you Stan, for giving me my life back, for giving me a beacon of hope. Your videos have brought me hopes and dreams beyond measure
Wow, thanks so much! Yes it was a lot of effort and research but fun to put it all together! Have a great time in Palm Springs! If you have a chance, check out the JW Marriot in Palm Desert. You can ride the gondola boats Saved by the Bell style. 👍🏻 😊
Great video, thank you.
Very detailed ,thank you
This was a first video of yours I've seen and you immediately get a subscriber out of me. Great work! Lost boys forever. I look forward to checking out the rest of your channel.
Thanks so much! The Lost Boys was a really fun one to put together, I wanted to try and highlight all the quick little locations. :)
Thank you for showing me all these cool places from some of my all-time favorite films.
What an AMAZING job. Congratz!!!
very cool tour of Santa Cruz/Carla
Amazing
Fantastic viewing. It's on my bucket list to visit these locations. Thanks!
For your bag of knowledge. Season 8, episode 2 of Gunsmoke titled "the river", at the end there is a scene where they are getting out of a old church after a wedding. That church is at Golden State Heritage site in Golden Oregon. About 30 min north of Grants Pass. The exit for Golden is the Wolf Creek exit. Golden is 4 miles east on coyote creek road.
Whoa all the way up in Oregon? Interesting, thanks for the info. 👍🏻
Dude, your videos are awesome. I just subscribed. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the sub!
Awesome Video!
Glad you enjoyed it 🧛♂️
Well, I binge watched all your videos and enjoyed them immensely. Your dedication to finding locations and landmarks is very impressive. I have now subscribed and am looking forward to your next video!
Thank you so much for all the comments and views. I’m working on some new videos, it’s a slow process, but more are on the way!
Love this !! I own the restaurant that was Sea Cloud in the film that I later changed to Olitas ... classic time filming the movies because they came in almost every night to watch the boardwalk filming ... they wrote in the scene and my only requirement was to leave the name Sea Cloud visible ... when they filmed they accidentally bubbled the paint on the ceiling ... later people from all over the world would come in to see where they did the scene ... I would show them the burn mark and they'd go crazy to get their picture with it .... great time with a million stories
Oh wow, that is so cool. I’ll have to come in sometime and see the burn mark.
So you changed the name to Olitas? I didn’t know that?!
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻 your staff was super nice!
I am enjoying these filming location videos Stanley. There is a 50's sci-fi movie that was shot in California: The Monolith Monsters. I would love to see you do a video on that location, which featured a dam that is most likely still there.
Monolith Monsters, I’ve never heard of it? Sounds cool, thanks
Great video, I didn't think that I'd watch the full hour, but you drew me in and kept me interested. BTW, where was the vampire cave?
So glad to hear that! This is my longest video and I was worried it might be boring. I even cut out and tightened some parts up.
The Vampire cave is in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. I wasn’t able to get that far south for the video.
I live there 🤙
Great place to live!
We stayed in Santa Cruz about 5 years ago. I wish it had been as beautiful that week as the day you filmed. I was disappointed in how run down the city was and all the homeless along the river. However, the boardwalk was a lot of fun. The Giant Dipper is a blast! We took the antique train up the mountain. We looked for the Mission but we only saw a new church. We ate on that wharf. Yum! BTW: Diane Weise pronounces her name “Weese”. Great video!
Yes Santa Cruz on a sunny day is so much better! They’ve been dealing with the homeless crisis longer than most in CA and it hasn’t gotten any better over the years.
She pronounces it Weese? Lol I had no idea! 🤦🏻♂️
You have excelled yourself Stanley. An excellent choice..no..the best choice. Probably one of the most iconic films of the late 80's. Didn't know you were from Santa Carla uh Cruz..
Thanks Stan. You still make me smile dude 👍. In fact that wanted poster you made me laugh hard. Totally agree, that micropenissed thief is a total douche. I was in SC in 2005 for a fly drive holiday with my now wife. Best holiday ever. But the toilets in the place we went forna burger on the boardwalk were a disgrace and brought shame on the USA...still etched in my mind...burger was a solid C+/B though.
Whoa you watched the whole video! Thanks! Yeah after losing my bag and especially the SD card with footage I already shot, I thought “ at least i can tell a funny story” lol
Yeah the bathroom situation in SC can be tricky. I recommend the bathroom in Bookshop Sant Cruz if your in the area again. Betty’s Burgers is pretty good also.
Thanks again for watching and the comment 👍🏻
It's funny Sean Clark did this and your covering all the basics.
Yeah Sean’s a huge fan, I saw his video where he has a lot of the original costumes from the film.
@@StanleyFoss yeah absolutely lol of course he has a little stroke like going in the actual house that was in Halloween 4 and 5 of Rachel's house. Which was awesome then you know Scott and Tape and Adam the woo can't do but brother you cover everything good job brother. 👍
Thanks!! Yes all those guys do good work. Glad you found my video 👍🏻
@@StanleyFoss yes they all do I agree. Yeah your video just popped up I thought well let me take a look but again awesome Coverd all.
@@caseysasmr9210 ☺️🙏🏻
is this the same roller coaster location as that Clint Eastwood Movie, Sudden Impact, cause it sure looks familiar...Javi G.
Yes I believe so. I know they filmed parts of it at the Boardwalk, but I have yet to watch that movie. It’s in my list 👍🏻
Excellent and much appreciated detail and hard work kind Sir! 👏😁 The rat Templeton reminded me of Faceman from A-Team lol.🤘 Sorry that you were victimized by micro penis though lol.
Thank you lol! Yeah, I hope that guy is enjoying my drone batteries! 😆
I’m going to have to rewatch the A-team it’s been years!
Thanks for the comment!
@StanleyFoss Thank YOU for the increasingly awesome videos kind Sir!
🙏🏻👌🏻😊
What happened to the sunken hotel
That’s was all on a soundstage and I wasn’t able to get down to Rancho Palos Verdes where the Vampire cave is located. Thanks for watching!
Wiest = "Weest."
Ahh I should have double checked how to pronounce her name. 😬
California is beautiful it’s a shame liberals ruined the state
I’ve seen it change a lot 🫣
@@StanleyFoss Keep making these videos dude. I seen Lost Boys the 1st week it opened
@@samright4661 oh cool, you saw it since the beginning 👍🏻
Yes more videos coming soonish
@@StanleyFoss I was 18 when the movie was released I’m an old fart lol!! When the rice was maggots in the movie. I was eating popcorn it freaked me out a little bit lol
@@StanleyFoss I think I was smoking something good that night lol
Truly great work. 🤩Honestly I haven't seen the entire movie but you surely made it interesting. I might have to see it in completion now lol. Must be nice to live so close to all the fun rides. :) 'suck my wallet dry!' lol
Thank you! Yes it is pretty cool having the Boardwalk as a nearby amusement park. Yes, you should check out the rest of the movie - lots more fun stuff in it. Glad you enjoyed the video!
