I noticed that the details were sharper on the cavalry than the infantry when I got my oathmark elves. I still like the infantry but the cavalry are definitely nicer when examined closely. I'm not sure that the designs were primarily based on warhammer fantasy - they have a lovely dark age aesthetic that fits perfectly into Tolkien's Middle Earth - the books and not the movies. A lot of other people have noticed this too, and oathmark elves in particular seem to have become the go-to models for people wanting to do First Age elves in 28mm. That's what I bought mine for. I've also heard that the designer was a Tolkien fan, and the design of all the models, elf or goblin or dwarf fits that thesis perfectly.
@@FGustoh it is absolutely absurd. I got the core box b/c it was novel. But looking at the prices, I question how any new players would be able to afford a full army. I really wish I had time to set up my resin printers, because there are amazing sculpts out there for a fraction of the price to free. That is the only way I see filling out an army.
Oathmark is the best value for money boxes I can find in my country, and their multi-part kits with LOADS of spares are great for making custom warbands for a wide range of games, nice to see them given some spotlight 😎🤙
Just found you channel and I found it worth a full watch. I was really looking into oathmark miniatures and you definitely got my attention thanks, looking forward to your next video.
Oathmark is a great game with great models. I love the old time Tolkien feel of them. Love that dark age look. As for the the bases some vallejo basing paste hides that really well. You can easily make the base top level even with that and put a few grass tufts
I have some of the Oathmark elves too. I like them a lot, they paint up well and have just the right amount of detail to make the painting enjoyable. The Oathmark rules are also worth checking out
Just got the elven cavalry, infantry and light infantry boxes to use with OPR Age of Fantasy Regiments. Added a WFB mage and some reavers I got off EBay. Excited to start on them!
Simplicity is an elegance in itself. Part of the hobby is making the models come alive, tell a story. Whether it be through paint, display, or kit bash. Not every model needs their belt weighed down with trinkets or armor inscribed with a skull on every surface. Some times people just want a simple knight in armor with a tabard without it being overtly busy.
They have exactly the details I need for making a Silmarillion elf army. Those lovely empty shields are going to get covered in canonical heraldry for the lords of Gondolin and Hithlum and so on. I can't do that if the shields are already covered in the wrong designs, at least without having to spend ages removing them with a hobby knife. This kit also has no nonsensical armor that protects nothing, is impossible to move in, or is from completely the wrong era, and no weapons so huge and heavy they'd be unusable by the mini if they were real.
If you like retro oldhammer check this guy out.

Core unit boxes are going for 80 bucks a pop. For Ol'AF sculpts. The prices on GW crap is absolutely awful.
Yeah, I was trying to be optimistic. The Bret Foot Knights were the glaring evidence on core pricing.

Yay it’s about time someone did a video on the Oathmark elf cavalry they’ve been out for months!

"Meanwhile, at the Legion of Doom"
Luke "Chris Griffin" Skywalker: "Not now!"
I was considering getting the light infantry and cavalry to run as wood elves!
Love this
Love to see this. Mantic is great for proxies too TOW as well.
The human ranges are inspired from the early middle ages and also iirc book depictions of men in Lord of the Rings, so no plate armor
Cheap. But also look cheap and completely bland. Totally devoid of character

I don't mind. They are in units anyway. 5-10 cavalry, 20 or more infantry.
Nobody is looking at individuals.
There are metal hero packs too.
