Me and my mate split the Island of Blood set when it came out and I took the Skaven but I was always jealous of that lord on griffin. I was already swaying towards high elves as my new army for the old world and I think this video has sealed the deal. Cheers for all the content.
I'll definately be following this when I finally get to mine! I've been keeping an eye out for Isle of Blood and wish GW would re-release it as they did with the latest WH40k one but I do have the lord, swordmasters and cav that I bought used for a good price. Most of my High Elves army is still in blister from years ago.
Holy crap that looks fantastic. HE are the one army Im really wanting to have but sadly looks like I'm gonna be waiting half a year to even get a chance to own, if I'm guessing GWs strategy right. Would love to see more paint videos like this for HE so when I do end up getting them, I can reference your vids! 😉
Anytime pal. So many beautiful sculpts that have been sadly forgotten from the old world. Hopefully more of them will be shown off and inspire some great hobby.
Really nice work. The gold armor came out fantastic and the griffon looks really good. I was worried you’d ruined it until you hit it with that dry brush. Much better. And you took the time to gloss the talons and eyes which I was hoping you’d do. I’m imagining you can’t separate the rider for painting purposes as it’s a push-fit model, which is too bad but you managed it without much difficulty that I could see. Well done! Hyped for Old World! :-D
Cheers pal. Yes there are so many ogle stages in painting where I’m worried I ruined something but I just power through until it looks better. So excited for the old world.
Thought the red and gold looked sharp. The only thing I would go back and touch up if I were you is the skin of the griffon, like the torso and rump, as it looks a bit too uniform. Also, looking forward to seeing you paint up some of my beloved chaos warriors.
I had a high elves Army back in 2000 and I'm planning to Change some Old models for printed 3D. In my opinion Spearmen and Specially Archers haven't aged so well. Otherwise Silver helms or White lion guards + Khoril don't look so bad
I bought the Island of Blood and a bunch of other Skaven & High Elf stuff. I'll probably work on finishing off the Skaven first and wait on the High Elves until I see what they get with their official re-release.
That looks really nice! Not a complicated scheme either with the contrast paints. I managed to find one which I'm going to kitbash into an Exodite Eldar thing. Planning on painting the gryphon a kestrel/wildcat scheme. It's going to take an unbelievable amount of time XD
Love this! I'm planning out my paint scheme for my High Elves and really want to give contrasts a try for it as your technique looks super accessible. Are there any contrasts you would recommend to pick up (and any that you'd advise steering clear of)?
Did you do more than one coat of red contrast paint on the rider? I find that I don't get the same coverage from the red contrast when I painted my Aeldari.
Nope one coat. I know it sounds stupid by make sure your shaking the hell out of the pot. Contrast pigment sinks to the bottom and separates very badly. So you can be just taking medium out of the pot with little pigment instead of the proper paint.
There was an older metal Eltharion on a much chunkier metal griffon wielding a lance and sword. This one was just an elf lord as by the time this set released, Eltharion had been blinded and was now a model on foot
@@ThorfinnGrimhowlYes, although that was retconned in 7th edition and he was back to be Eltharion the Grim. At one point in my life I owned that metal model of him.
The old fantasy models are so magnificent , u see it and u feel the old beauty hit ur heart again. It’s different to aos. Looks fantastic
Thanks pal.
Thats one of the best models they ever made in my opinion. I dug up mine a month ago, and yeah, the lance had snapped.
Loving the old world content!
Cheers pal. Glad you love the model. Hope you got yours fixed and painted.
I used a spare vampire (blood knights) lance to fix mine, worked wonders.

Ohh I’m jealous of your old metal high elves.
Ευχαριστούμε!
That’s so kind pal thank you.
Brother your easy painting guide is really amazing and extremely helpful !!! Thank you so much !!!!!!
I’m really happy there helping pal.
Fantastic job.
Cheers.
Amazing paintwork has always, makes want to pick up some griffon models even more now!
Do it.
@@MediocreHobbies Top of the list now has well as other Gryph- models.

I luckily have a whole army from when k played Them in warhammer fantasy. So now I have an excuse to dig them out and start painting.
Fantastic Job!
Cheers.
That's a beautiful sculpt, hadn't seen it before. And a killer paint job. Thanks again for showing that wings aren't big scary thing, too.

Elves ah well it is neat.
Hahaha cheers
Loving the content! Can’t wait to see more of your High Elves on the channel. 😊
Glad to hear pal. I shall be doing more for sure.
Nice to complete a model that you have a connection too! Cracking result as always mate
Yep feels so good.
Great job on this one Andy, really liked the gold nd red colour scheme on the rider it fits really nicely with the browns on the griffin.
Glad to hear pal. The whole army will be this colour. I’m excited to see it.
Glorious as ever!
Thanks.
Amazing work mate, I always enjoy watching your stuff. Thank you
That’s really nice to hear.
Greetings from the USA. Great paint job!
Greetings rite back pal. Thank you so much.
Just finished my high elf lord on griffon after following this. He looks awesome! Thank you!
So happy to hear that Pal.
I am working on a Bretonnian conversion on this for a Duke on a hippogyph. Watching you paint this has been a help.
Your model looks excellent!
Glad I could help!
That one is a lovely model, hope they bring him back.
Great job though, you definetaly take advantage of contrast and drybrush
Thanks pal. And ye so hope they bring them back.
That looks so good, very helpful too. Great content!
Glad you liked it pal.
Nice job. This set was my first set, and it still remains unpainted. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ah you gotta break it out and get some models painted. Would be good fun and you can play some old world.
Looks great !!
Thank you!
Those talon's!
Cheers pal.
Beautiful job, my dude. Looks ace!
Thanks pal.
Looks awesome, love your breakdown.
Thanks man

Ye the skin could do with a bit more work. And chaos are coming I have plans for them.

100% agree.
Super old stuff hope they will do some new sculptures
They are doing some. But I’m happy getting at some of my old backlog pieces and getting them done.
Miniatures have come a long way. But the minis in this box still hold up.
Yeah it was a great set!
I bought the Island of Blood and a bunch of other Skaven & High Elf stuff. I'll probably work on finishing off the Skaven first and wait on the High Elves until I see what they get with their official re-release.

They all have three place. The reds are amazing black Templar and so many more. I need to do a video showcasing my favourite.
Well I just bought island of blood on ebay so this helps!!
Oh perfect timing!

@@MediocreHobbies Alright, thanks for the tip - I have this model lying around somewhere. Kinda want to give it a go now.
You gonna paint the new tauros vehicle mate ?
When ever i get one yes.
Isn't that Old World Eltharion?

@@ThorfinnGrimhowl I think I've got that one stashed away in my shed of shame.
Phenomenal paint job! And an absolute disgrace to have played so many games with an unpainted, unglued model (I did the same😅)
Hahaha I think we all have that shameful story about some of our models 😂
Cant believe you played ~60 games with an unpainted leader...
I know the shame.
He looks glorious now!
Love the content 👏🏻
Are you going to do green skins next?
There’s an orc and goblin video up already but will be doing more soon!
Are you a Hobbit?
I do eat second breakfast
